Hi, except for security patches, what would be the reasons to upgrade to 10.3.3 from 9.0.9?
Not experiencing any issues.
I'm not sure I want to go through the hassle of upgrading.
I'm rooted with unlocked bootloader, running magisk.

Dark mode, better gesture navigation, randomized MAC, improved location permissions. There's not much hassle in upgrading, too. You can just download the zip, local upgrade, and it would install in the background. If you want root, you can just re-root after updating since your bootloader will stay unlocked. Besides, we would surely get Android 11 by next year, and I don't think you'd want to be left behind by 2 updates when that comes.

Hi there, I have the GM1925 (Sprint) model of the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G.
I'm running stock OOS 10.0.3GM25CC, rooted with Magisk, substratum, and an unlocked bootloader.
It's been years since I've run a stock ROM, so I really have no concept of how OTA updates work (I've always just flashed updates via TWRP). A couple days ago I got a system update notification for a 199MB download, and I'm wondering if it's "safe" to apply it, or if I need to do anything special first.
From what I've read online here and in the OnePlus forums, the recommendation is to do a "full" local update (something like a 2GB download), however the sprint firmware for the GM1925 doesn't have such an option in the system updates settings.
Can I apply this update safely without losing any of my data? Is there a guide somewhere for how to apply and survive OTA updates?
Update: I'm now getting notifications from Google Play Services saying "Couldn't install update" despite the fact that I haven't *tried* to install it.
Any advice? Is it safe to install? I don't want to wind up with a brick that I'll have to reflash and set up again.

From my experience from last incremental updates(onePlus7pro5g) I've just had to boot to recovery and flash twrp and magisk again..
You said you rooted and unlocked bootloader, just wondering if you could lmk how you did it, I have the same device and have been struggling.

When you say reboot to recovery and flash twrp again, do you mean reboot to the bootloader?
Did you do anything before applying the OTA, like disabling magisk mods?
EDIT: Also, do you have the Sprint model & firmware?

This is a bit off-topic I guess, but info to unlock the bootloader is here:

You'll need a Windows computer to use the MSMTool in that thread. Also, pro-tip: uncheck the automatic reboot option in the MSMTool GUI to make your life easier when you have to reboot to the bootloader to run the fastboot commands.
If all goes well, you'll be running Android 9. Surprisingly that OS version claimed my phone was SIM-locked -- but applying the Android 10 OTA update fixed this issue. Then I rebooted to the bootloader, flashed TWRP, rebooted to recovery and flashed Magisk to root the phone.

In developer settings I turn on advanced reboot options, so I can easily hold the power button and it shows all the options(power off, reboot, recovery, bootloader, screenshot). If u have twrp fully installed u can just click recovery and then reflash twrp and magisk and reboot. About disabling magisk mods, yeh I always disabled rice and all others that may cause problems. But on this latest 10.4 update, I had apparently done something where I cldnt even get my system updates to download it. So I just ended up msm'ing my phone and then BL unlocking, updating to 10.4,then doing magisk and mods..?
There's a great telegram group with all the info for gm1925/1920 onePlus7pro 5g, should def go check it out, alot of help there.

What's the name of that Telegram group? The only one I can find for the 5G version is the McLaren 7 Pro.
I've also got the Sprint oneplus 7g Pro 5G/gm1925, and I am getting the notification for the update but am not able to install it. There is no option for the full download in order to use the methods described for other models. Would really like to get this resolved without having to do a full rewipe and flash, that's for sure.
I'm still holding off on applying this OTA until I can get some more info. I also couldn't find the aforementioned telegram group
Bumping this thread because there still doesn't seem to be a good guide for stock OTA updates on the GM1925.
I'm interested in doing this aswell. I have OP7Pro Sprint too. Just bootloader unlocked and magisk nothing else.
Though I have software version NoLimits IDK if that can be OTA'd.

Basically you need to back up all your data and your storage card area off the phone. Then you have to relock the bootloader to apply the update.( Relocking bootloader will wipe the phone. )
After applying update, unlocked bootloader again root and restore your data and files.
you will have to do this everytime sprint/t-mobile releases update. If you want to stay up to date. And you will get the Google nag at least once weekly until you do

Same here, but what I want to do instead of waiting for the OTA update from Sprint it's to flash the original ROM from OnePlus but I'm not sure which version could be compatible.

I followed a few different guides with different methods attempting to update my Oneplus 8T KB2005 from Oxygen OS 11.0.5.6 to KB2005_11_C.11 it ending up bricking my phone and i had to Fastboot flash TWRP to get the ability to wipe my entire phone loosing all 9000 photos and other data. needless to say the phone is now working but it reverted back to 11.0.5.6 with root still just with no data apps or anything.
I would prefer to update to Oxygen OS 12 and retain root. Can someone please direct me to the best method out thats using stable build not something thats gonna potentially be causing me to send CLI commands in fastboot for next 2 hours...
Reasons for updating are the buggy VO-wifi VO-LTE and the not usable 5G.

I just brought an unlocked Oneplus 9 and using it on T-mobile network. I am having the following problems with Android 12 (OOS LE2115_11_C.61). I am wondering if Android 11 have these problems as well or not (only had the phone for less than 2 days).
1. Wifi Calling: Able to dial call but unable to hear audio from the other party. However, they can hear me w/o any issues. Tried resetting my network, it didn't resolve this issue. Currently using phone w/ wifi calling off.
2. Lockscreen Issue: There are no option to hide the actual pattern lock and also the pattern lock placement seems to moved further up on the screen.
3. Battery charging time no longer indicates on the lockscreen.
4. Sometimes the "Close All" button only closes all other apps besides the last one I were on. Sometimes it works. So, it's random.
If downgrading to Android 11 resolve some of the above issues, I have the following questions about the downgrade.
1. Is there a way to back up all my apps and app data locally and restore it after downgrade (like Tatinium Backup)?
2. Does downgrade require unlock bootloader?
3. If unlocked bootloader, would you suggest root, go for a custom rom or stay with OOS 11?
4. If downgrade to OOS 11, is there a way to keep security update w/o going to Android 12?

1. Use Swift Backup. However, you will have to move all your data to a PC because it'll wipe when you go back to 11.
2. No. You'll have to unlock it again. Don't move your data back until after you unlock the bootloader though as it factory resets as part of it.
3. I rooted. My big thing is Gravity Box and ad blockers. Stayed with OOS though. Others are too much hassle compared to previous OPs. xXx (Magisk Rom) from the 7 and 8 days still works fairly well on 11. It hasn't been updated, but it also don't touch anything underneath. If you don't like it, it's easy to get rid of. It's customizable by a text profile you edit.
4. Not that I know of. I believe OP has gone on to A12. If you root, you can't take OTAs, you have to have full images. You can download them from one of the stickies.

1. If you use the local back up option under settings > system settings > back up and reset > local backup then most of your apps get backed up, but the downloaded data will not be saved and you have to log into the accounts on each app. I'm still looking for another way to backup, but I'm hesitant because this method of backup retains my T-Mobile SIM settings after I converted it to Global.
2. I was on OOS 12.41 on a T-Mobile branded OP9, and when I used @craznazn 's MSM conversion tool, it downgraded my phone to Global OOS 11.2.2. I suppose if you wanted to downgrade you could use his tool, or any MSM tool made for a T-Moble version on OOS 11, and it would boot that version, and then you could update to the latest 11.
3. I would suggest root if you have your bootloader and sim unlocked, if not, I would just stay on a stable version of OOS since you wouldn't be able to flash under fastboot or anything of the sort.
4 I don't think OP is doing security updates for the OP9 on 11 since it supports 12, but the option to go back is always there via MSM conversion through EDL mode on your phone.

Swift Backup is great for backing up the stuff that you'll want to save, such as Messages, Call Logs, Apps + App Data, some other things. Root is required for the App data backup, otherwise you can still use it for most functions without being rooted, or to enable more backup features without root, you can adb grant SECURE_WRITE to the app. Definitely worth checking out.

Oh wow yeah I'll definitely have to check it out! I've been testing my OP9 going back and forth from Tmo to Global to find the most reliable way to get there with the modem still intact, as I'm still a couple of days away from getting my unlock token.
