There are basically only 2 ways to install Magisk.
1) flash a patched boot.img or a patched recovery.img created from your stock firmware. You will have to read the detailed explanation in the thread to determine exactly which .img you need to patch based on details about your device.
2) Flash TWRP on your device then flash Magisk.zip using TWRP recovery.
Go to the Magisk thread here and read the first few posts of instructions. It explains identifying certain details about your device to determine exactly which method you need to use.

Did you go to the Magisk thread and read it thoroughly? Or did you only read my post and then ask me another question? If you haven't thoroughly read the Magisk thread, I have nothing to say to you.

I did go through the Magisk sub thread in this forum, however I did not find the information you said was there, the main Magisk post didn't give me the information of how to get what I need

The Magisk thread instructions have links to other things that discuss things such as: whether your device is a A/B partition device, how to determine if your device is A/B or not and how to determine if you need to patch a boot.img, recovery.img or any other partition. Some devices require patching the stock boot.img and then flashing that .img to gain root and some devices require patching the stock recovery.img then flashing that .img to gain root. The process is not the same for "every" device. There are things about every device that require installing Magisk "this way" or "that way" depending on the device itself and how the software is structered/designed.
If you don't understand these details and how they relate to your device, you need to find other members here that have your device that do understand these details.
https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/install.html
You need to be 100% certain about the details of your device to avoid installing Magisk incorrectly, failure to follow the correct procedure for your device can lead to a damaged/bricked device.

Bootloop, Twrp doesn't flash any file, even the Supersu Zip

Well, i tried rooting my device (Marshmellow) with both methods (www) andro4all (.) com/2016/01/rootea-moto-g-en-un-click (www) quora (.) com/How-can-I-root-my-Moto-G3-running-in-Android-6-0-1-marshmallow
But when i install the recovery, the device enters in bootloop, in the first method i can flash the supersu file successfully, but it doesn't rooted the device, after that i tried flashing roms and other supersu zip and i don't have any backup because I had already rooted a device before and because of how reliable the previous pages looked like. Any idea what to do at this point?
Any help is appreciated

You can find better information on rooting your device here on XDA.
Use the latest TWRP recovery from twrp.me for your device.
Try using magisk as your root solution. Magisk can be found here on XDA.
I would not recommend using Supersu.
You can try flashing a Nougat ROM for your device.
If necessary you can find a stock ROM for your device and instructions on how to revert to stock here on XDA.

Just unlocked bootloader. Now what?

I need a little direction on what my next step should be for obtaining root and twrp on my device.
As it states in the title, I just unlocked bootloader on my Sprint\Tmo OnePlus 8 5G.
I want to root and install TWRP, ultimately.
What I THINK I know so far in what I need to do next:
Obtain root (I need a good walkthrough on this as well)
Back up persist.img
Back up boot.img
Install magisk?
Patch boot.img with magisk?
Install TWRP via magisk?
Flash rom via twrp or magisk depending on rom requirements?
As you might see, I'm a little confused.
Can someone clarify the process for my specific adventure? Again, it's and freshly BL Unlocked Spront\Tmo OnePlus 8 5G on 10.5.21.IN55CB software.

As you can see it's read through a number of them but it all feels jumbled.
There's not one coherent guide that I could find. Could someone link me a complete guide to rooting this device?

Doubt about rooting Alcatel Tetra 5041C (Android Oreo 8.1)

Hello XDA, i come here with a doubt about how to root my phone, i found this article about it:
How to Root Alcatel Tetra / TCL 5041C and Install TWRP Recovery
Easy tutorial to Root Alcatel Tetra / TCL 5041C Smartphone in easy steps. For rooting, you have to flash TWRP Recovery first through the guide.
www.androidweblog.com
The article seems to be specific for the model of my phone, but it is legit? It seems to be using a custom TWRP build Link and Magisk, it didn't specify version, but i suppose the latest one (v22) should work?
So rooting this phone it is literally that? Install TWRP then patch Magisk in it? With the instructions given in that article? I though i had to download a custom rom. It will wipe data from the phone? (this is just an incovenience).

Don't download a custom .img file from a nowhere site. Download it from the Official source, since your device is officially supported by TWRP. The rest of the instructions are in that link, but flashing Magisk after TWRP is the correct standard procedure and should suffice your needs. Which Magisk version can be anything from 21.0 up to 22.0, However, please backup these partitions in TWRP before flashing:
Boot
System
Cust (or any name similar to that)
Also, Wiping your data (factory reset) after unlocking the Bootloader is not avoidable, because it's a Requirement to all manufacturers to enforce this rule for security reasons (in case someone wants to steal your data).

Magisk root for KB2007?

Hey everyone so I have my OnePlus8T all unlocked and ready to be rooted via Magisk. This includes both OEM unlocking turned on and I have successfully gone through the SIM unlock process with T-Mobile.
However....how can I root with Magisk by doing the step of payload dumper without being able to obtain the latest firmware online? I've looked everywhere but looks like T-Mobile keeps it on a tight leash.
Thanks in advance.

Hello!
As you haven't specified what firmware is installed on your phone at the moment, i see several variants:
1. You can find patched boot.img here on xda for your firmware and boot it, after install Magisk app as usual (Magisk -> Magisk Install -> "Direct Install (Recommended)")
2. If you're unable to find patched boot for your firmware version, you can temporary boot twrp recovery, and install magisk apk with it.
Sorry should have indicated my firmware which is the latest:
11.0.16.18.KB09CB
After doing another search I find no links through Google or XDA
It's possible to use TWRP temporarily even without root?

Yes you can. Follow the process in A.2 of https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-root-and-keeping-root-options.4387977/

Those instructions apply to the KB2007? I'm not seeing the model discussed anywhere in that thread and don't wanna brick my phone.
If so, when I go through the process to patch the IMG file through Magisk will it wipe the phone like it did when I unlocked the bootloader?

The rooting process isn't device specific. And it doesn't wipe your phone.
Also, if you are going to use TWRP, you could take a backup of your phone (see https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ect-8t-kebab-2022-03-09.4302449/post-85292199) which you could use to restore your system.
But, as always, there are no guarantees and you do this entirely at your own risk.
And, yes, I understand how scary it is to do these things the first time.

Root for the Note 20 Ultra (SM-N986B/DS)

To me it seems that I'm not able to find any thread that shows how to root my note.
Since there won't be any further update afterthe UI 5.1, could ANYONE just tell me if there's a chance, please?
