does anyone know if the 5g bands are limited by the hardware or software? do i need an in2015/in2025 to work on tmobile or could i get any version and flash it to the proper region?
It's is hardware based and software enabled. One thing doesn't work without the other.
its good but depending on area and if you have root 5gnr isn't enabled at first i had to switch 2g/3g/4g only to make network work stable after i rooted changed database file changed few others network 5g is 5x faster then stock im on global with T-Mobile modem flashed
Best to get that 2015 or the T-Mobile variant. The rest would probably work to some degree, but they'll be missing important bands.

I just got a D6603. I'm on T-Mobile and I wanted the phone to be rootable so I got the unlocked version instead of the branded D6616. However, the D6603 doesn't have LTE band 12 support, which means my signal at my desk at work is weak and frequently goes out altogether.
I found this guide on unlocking all LTE bands for a phone with a qualcomm processor. I was wondering if this is actually possible for the D6603 (i.e. band 12 is just blocked by the firmware) or if the D6603 lacks a certain radio necessary for communicating with band 12 towers. Has anyone tried this, or any other similar hack, for enabling a certain band or frequency on a phone that doesn't normally support it?

Check this to see which baseband exactly is you want to unlock and if your device supports that baseband. If the radio is missing, it would be impossible to unlock it. However if it is just the software, maybe following the guide help.
See attachment for your reference.
Or just wait for lollipop update. Just came across it

I just got an unlocked Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) J327A from Amazon. This is an unlocked version of an AT&T prepaid phone. My T-Mobile SIM works OK with it. But: (1) VoLTE is not enabled, meaning T-Mobile will not work on 700 MHz Band 12 (which is the whole reason I got this phone, we don't have coverage here on any other band) and (2) wifi calling is greyed out and unavailable.
I had not realized there is more to switching between carriers than just "locked" or "unlocked", because there are different features beyond the basics that are either supported or not supported, and it turns out that having either VoLTE and/or Wifi Calling is pretty much essential for me now.
I'm an utter newbie regarding firmware mods. Is there any hope of changing the firmware on this model to enable VoLTE on T-Mobile and/or wifi calling on T-Mobile? A quick search of this forum only found complaints about seeing a "Wierd VoLTE icon" when they rooted their J327T phone. Which to me actually seems hopeful. The update guides I've seen all warn that firmware must be loaded only into the exact model number called out. Not sure if that means just "J327" or for example "J327x"
My question is: can you change an Unlocked J327A (supporting AT&T features) to a J327T (supporting T-Mobile features) by software tools? Or are there hardware differences, or at least serial-number-based locks to prevent that?
Would like to do the same thing, any luck?
Hi I recently purchased the GM1910 model which is the Chinese model and it's on its way in the mail right now was curious about if it was possible to add Band 71 to the phone. I plan on rooting and using a custom rom already. I have TMobile which I know uses the Band 71. Would just flashing NA build add it or is there more to it.
I'm curious to find out this as well

From what I heard I don't know for sure. But people said the hardware itself is different. So I don't know if you can just flash it.
Your correct, it's hardware and new radio bands can't be added...
I've heard that the phones are identical. They are only switched off bands. Older OnePlus phones were able to unlock extra bands that were locked based on the region. The band support hardware wise is built into the modem. They are disabled by software.
Obviously they have to have antennas for the radio frequencies, but the hardware seems to be the same amongst gm1910 and gm1917. I wonder if someone posed a modem backup from a gm1917 and you flashed on a gm1910 it change the modem firmware to the US.
I'm willing to try this if someone posts the .zip from a gm1917
I want to unlock bands 46 and 48 for Verizon since it's LAA and CBRS/3.5ghz LTE

Hell I'll risk it to :highfive:
I wonder if something like this would work? https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/guide-unlock-aditional-bands-for-qualcomm-devices-oneplus-one-edition.193610/ But I can't seem to get the drivers to work correctly.
will volte work out the box for TMobile ? They won't activate phones on their network after a while if they don't support VOLTE.... Or any plans to update it in the near future. When will this go on sale in North America?

I am currently on T-mo, it doesn't do VoLTE currently, I know its possible via root and changing parameters. ALSO they just enabled VoLTE for their ROG phone 3 via an update so I will assume they will probably do the same for the ZF7, if not I will have to root it.
I asked an asus rep about sale in NA and they didn't have an answer from marketing team, so I bought mine on eBay
I'm beginning to think they will sell in in america especially if they enable volte for TMobile like they did the rog 3. I'm waiting to see if they enable volte on the 6 and the 7.
And then there's the OnePlus 8T coming in going to weigh my optione

This guy apparently has VoLTE already on his phone, unsure how though.
Will this work on att in the states? Also which model if so?
ATT will ONLY work upto 3g. You will see an H on top the signal bar which indicates a Enhanced 3g speed also know as HSPA speed connection. I have tried 2 new sim cards. I have tried several APN's I have tried all updates and a reset. No 4G and no 5G on ATT. Unless someone can tell me something new, this phone will not FULLY work on ATT. Text works. Calls work. Internet is sort of hit and miss with decent signal but again rather slow.
T Mobile will ONLY work upto 4g. No Volte although it seems to have the capability of Volte it cant not work with Tmobile Volte because it seems the cell bands are not compatible. Text work. Internet works rather fast, Good solid signal however no 5G and no Volte due to incompatible cell bands.
I did research on this subject and found that the ATT cell bands for everything including 5G do seem to be compatible with the 7 pro but again, it does not FULLY work oddly
I also did research on Tmobile cell bands and the bands for 5G are not even close to being compatible. Volte is also non compatible. 4g is compatible and works..
THIS IS MY OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE TODAY AS I PURCHASED A SIM FROM EACH PROVIDER ( THIS IS A DUAL SIM PHONE) AND PLACED THEM BOTH IN THE PHONE.. I DID EXTENSIVE RESEARCH>>>
IF ANYONE CAN GET THE PHONE TO DO 4G or 5G ID APPRECIATE THAT INFO>>
ASUS NEEDS TO DO AN UPDAT FAST BEFORE PEOPLE START TO RETURN THIS DEVICE. THIS AGE IS ALL ABOUT 5 G.. THIS PHONE IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH USA. I DO NOT SEE HOW AN UPDATE WILL FIX THE PROBLEM SINCE THE PHONE IS ONLY PHYSICALLY CABLE OF A SPECIFIC SET OF BANDS WHICH ARE NOT NOT NOT THE SAME AS USA BANDS
i bought oneplus 8t from India and using it in Thailand. Thailand has 5g coverage all over but bands are different. how can i add support of bands in Oneplus8t. please guide
IDK wht they use in Thailand. Maybe you can software unlock it, but you can't add bands that the hardware doesn't support. Try installing the global or eu rom on your phone.

In Thailand AIS Operator uses N41 Band for 5G . the specs of Indian version of oneplus 8t doesnt support that. I tried after installing global Rom as well. it still doesnt support 5G . Is there anyway to manipulate hardware to support that.
Anyone has any suggestions?
usually you can't unlock extra bands if the chipset doesn't support. If the chipset did support it, then it would have worked when you installed the EU rom.
As far as I know you can't unlock/change the bands your device support in any way. Not even by flashing another rom, it is defined on hardware level somewhere. All you can do is to buy a different model of the oneplus 8T that support the bands you want.
Maybe you can try to research the qualcom hack on the oneplus one. It probably won't work, but it might be an idea to start with to unlock extra bands that are hardware locked.
It's not a frequency locked... This B41 is NOT included in your model, so you can do nothing, just by a new 8T global if you want absolutely using 5G. Be careful when you purchase a phone on an another country, you can encounter warrantly problem, frequency compatibility problem and you don't have support.
Technically the Qualcomm modem in the 8T supports all of these bands. However, it's flashed at a hardware level you won't have access to. Sorry, but this is the manufacturer's way of keeping bands they are not authorized to use (device regulations cost money in each country) disabled in the hands of an end-user.
iphone usually supports all the bands everywhere ..even samsung has support to most of the bands... how come a company like oneplus doing so?
