Is there any way to enable the fingerprint sensor after updating to oreo?

I've been going through numerous articles which seem to be only applicable to Marshmallow or Nougat at best. Is there any way to do that with oreo?
AFAIK the only way is if you are using a non US rom.
Just change your ROM using the FlashTool to a non US rom.

I tried flashing it with newflasher. It says device is locked. I didn't think you need to unlock the bootloader to install a stock rom. What am I doing wrong?

You do not need an unlocked boot, try using flashtool instead.

Bootloader Unlock For SOV37 Possible

Just in case anyone wondering. I have XZ2 AU (SOV37) with Bootloader unlock allowed : No
So I use qUnlocktool, paid some money for it (nugsm), and unlock the simlock (even though it's already unlocked to begin with)
And after that Bootloader unlock allowed : become Yes.
Then I flashed Android 10 global ROM, unlocked Bootloader, phone unable to receive signal.
From there all I have to do is just to restore the backup from qUnlocktool, as result I have unlocked Bootloader and unlocked SIM.
Hope this can help some people.
Though by flashing to Global / Custom ROM you will lose NFC. recommended to use debloater (magisk) to remove NFC related services to prevent battery drain.

I bought it from this site, https://nugsm.com/product/sony-xperia-cable-unlock-0-counter-supported/
they also provide the software required for it
Yes it's possible, need to pay for service.
qunlock can do, even they only described as sim unlock.
Tried with SOV37 and 702SO

You might have to downgrade to the version you were using before. Older phones just don't run well with newer Android updates

i did try this,
and tried fastboot.
none worked.
the issue as i understood from asus rog phones owners, is that tencent editions have 1 time unlock relock counter. and it was used when converted the frimware to global.
hence why unlock is troublesome.
i also heard that the same issue happened with ROG 3, and the had to wait to EDL firmware.
for visibility
Hey m8822,
Is this issue creating any problems for you?
For example, does this conversion from Tenscent to Global block the phone from receiving future OTAs?
I'd really appreciate your input because I am considering buying the ROG 5 from Aliexpress.
Same issue. Just can't root until someone drops some EDL firmware sadly.
do you know how to use edl firmware?. any link to detailed guide is appreciated

Yes but even with this EDL firmware you need a the EDL tool to flash it, so you can`t flash yourself or am I wrong?

to clarify this trick works for Asus Rog phone 3 and I don't have Rog 5 to test it.
Because when the sellers unlock and relock the phone after ww rom they mess up bootloader. Then when I flash the unbrink tool in edl mode after that the phone reboot into fastboot mode flash cn raw image phone start in original state. So after that unlock tool from Asus works normal. And then you can flash ww raw image again from fastboot mode. Maybe can happent for Rog 5.
But if your bootloader isn't mess up like mine you can easily flash raw cn rom(from faatboot mode) and try unlock tool..
I hope I helped.

Question Relocking Bootloader via Mi Tools

Greetings Poco users, I just decided to relock my bootloader, but from my experience, on my last Redmi 7 when I did it, my phone turned to "Lock Mode" and after all I had to unlock it again. Is it completely alright, or you have any idea how I can do it?
Thank you in advance.

I mean you can re-lock without worry as long as you are running the stock OS and configs. If you try the same while running a custom ROM it would just hard brick your device. As suggested by the user above, Mi Flash Tool (the one you use to flash fastboot ROM's) has an option to lock the bootloader as well, very simple process.

Xiaomi flash tool and Miflash unlock are two different software.
When you relock the bootloader with Miflash tool you flash a rom and relock.
Miflash unlock as its name suggests is only used for unlocking.
You can use Mi Flash tool with any Miui rom by relocking or not.
obviously does not work with an AOSP rom.
