can I use modded WhatsApp without root/unlocked bootloader - Huawei P40 Pro Questions & Answers

Hello,
I use a modded WhatsApp for years on phones with unlocked bootloader.
Now on p40 pro it's impossible to use root rights.
Is there an option to get this working?
I use fouadsmod.
Thanks in advance

what is wrong with the usual whatsapp? it one of the rare apps that works perfectly.

None of the Modded WhatsApp APK's need root access. (Unless your WhatsApp can check other users other conversations as well).
If it's asking for ROOT, Get rid of it.

I want to transfer my chat history from genuine WhatsApp to modded version.
Previous I used Titanium Backup to restore and activate, so I don't need it connect to server to check.
I tried to backup genuine, deleted genuine, installed new but then it can't find the backup file(local backup)
Don't hassitate to pm if you have the solution

Use the chat database file in WhatsApp/Databases/ to move the backup.
Also - Modded WhatsApp's don't receive notifications in P40 devices.

Can I use icebox for this? If so... Do you have a link or tut?
I tried yesterday to copy the database and backup folder to WhatsApp folder. Uninstall genuine.. Installed modded version(fouadsmod) did like it should... Green button continue... Modded works but blank, no chats from backup

Thanks for all the help, i figured out why it wasnt cloning with history... my own , after looking in this link i saw what the problem was.
Normally i make TB and not local bakcup, so the local backup file is empty.
After making local backup on old phone and transfer the ....db.... to p40 pro all the history is back :good:

Thanks to FoneTech's YouTube tutorial, (
) by using the Smart Transfer app, I managed to transfer my WhatsApp app and its chat history from my Samsung phone to my P40 Pro with just a few clicks, and it worked like a charm. The only thing missing is the automatic backup function to Google drive.

Anyone get Google Voice working yet ?

So, yeah it installed but it still hangs when setting up my voicemail grrrr...
I don't really care about "calling" just using it for texting (for my wife actually)
Running Tnt2, maybe CM6 would help ?

I think it was confirmed working in another thread. Using Titanium backup from phone to tablet.
I can't confirm this yet
hmm
I would like this mod also.
I to would love to see this working.

It's confirmed I can get to inbox. I cannot however dial out. (says no mobile signal)
Steps I took
on my evo fully installed voice (switched roms recently didn't have it installed)
used Titanium to back up the app
Copied the 3 files to my titanium folder on the g tab
Restored the app
Lauched google voice. Got to where it said configure inbox then went back back back back to exit
inbox popped right up.
YMMV
i could kiss you.. well, if i were a chick at least.. haha
i did have to uninstall the current GV but i figured that out .. kick a$$
My wife will be tickled pink on christmas when she can txt from her tablet.. Next task, getting sipdroid to function properly.. I plays through the speakers, but i can barely hear it ..

lol, no problem man
This can also be done using mybackup pro. by backing up the apk and data from a phone that voice is completely set up on. Then copy the folder from /sdcard/rerware/myBackup/allappsBackups to the same location on the tablet then restore voice using mybackup pro on the tablet.
Also if you have a copy of Google voice 0.3 it will install and setup. Then you can update to newest version.

How do you restore with Titanium Backup? I backup my google voice on my phone. It creates 3 files in folder. I copy those files to where?
And then how do I proceed on G Tablet? Do I uninstall Google Voice first or how?
1. uninstall google voice on your tab
2. backup google voice on your phone with titanium backup
3. copy the 3 files from your phones titanium backup folder to your tablets titanium backup folder
4. run titanium backup, go to "backup/restore" select google voice, restore, then App&Data
5. then open gv and do the back, back thing from above

its in there, the font may be different, and it might be at the bottom of the list.. make sure you "refresh apps list" from the titanium backup/backup restore menu..

Thanks, that did it. It was ontology of the list Instead of alphabetical order.
Easiest way I found was to remove your old google voice with root explorer and then install Version 0.3 which I found in the first post here
http://www.evo4gforum.net/htc-evo-4g-apps/google-voice-0-3-4-apk-file/
I then did the setup, and it worked. First reboot it needed to be setup again. After that it has stuck.

You can go into system files for WhatsApp on the previous device and find the stored chat data & phone clone/Bluetooth the file across and then on the HMS device you can move the file to the exact same place you found it on the old device, That then allows the back up to be restored.

Question WhatsApp not getting messages until I open it?

Hey Guys,
My WhatsApp keeps getting killed in the background.
I don't receive messages until I open the App.
What else to set other than what's mentioned below ?
* Set Data - to Allow even in Data saver Mode
* Battery Usage - Unrestricted
* Turn off Battery Optimization altogether (That list doesn't show WhatsApp)
Anything else?
Any idea is much appreciated.

If the battery usage is set to unrestricted like below ;
It wont appear in the deep sleep list. So I guess the independent settings supersedes the deep sleep list.
Solved the issue.
If you Titanium Backup a WhatsApp,
Make sure to delete the *.gms files from the data folders. This will reset your GCM Push ID which is being carried from your previous device. Once a new ID gets assigned, You'll be fine.

You need Root access Bro.
Go to Root / Data / data / com.whatsapp / Inside two folders you'll find 2 x GMS files. Just delete them,
Then clear PlayServiices Data and Restart the phone.

Clean Install and restoring data with the local method or Google Drive method is the only solution.
This notification goof up happens if you do a Titanium Backup restore which requires root.
Nothing else should mess this up -- except for aggressive battery settings.

Ohh, Clear.
Damn .. I've got no clue how to.
Google on GCM Push reset, GCM ID reset etc.
Your GCM ID is from your old device, and new Google account has a different one.
That's why you're not online always.

On Plus / GB / FM editions - Local backup doesn't work anymore.
It will trigger you to exit all your groups as if your number was deleted.
Only the In-built titanium like backup will work.

Question Root without phone resetting? Or backup app+it's data via adb or similar?

So I'm changing phones, but there's one app which I would have to backup including it's data. If I'd be rooted I could use Titanium Backup, unfortunately I'm not rooted.
Is there a way to root without wiping the phone or is there another way to backup the apps data (and restore) via adb or something else?

For that I'd need a way to remove everything from the backup besides WhatsApp though. As that does a backup and restore of everything, all apps, all file system etc IIRC

Is that the Samsung moving phones thingy? Does that move apps including it's data so you don't have to set them up again?
I usually avoid the moving data from phone to phone during setup, because I take setting up a new phone as an opportunity to clean up data/apps. So I only reinstall those I actually need
EDIT: Just tried it, sadly not:

Then search in android/data/Com.dualspace
it should be in the android folder, that's for sure.
Just find the package name of your clone app, and then find the folder corresponding to that app.
