I deleted the stock File-explorer via ADB because I didn't like the way it looked, nor how it displayed hidden folders. Everything looked cluttered, and a bit suffocating. So, I found a File-explorer that I liked, I believe off of F-Droid, uninstalled the stock, and started to use that instead. However, many apps require the stock File-explorer to do certain things, like set download directories. Like I said, I no longer have the stock File-explorer, and I'd really hate to have to go back to it. So, is there any way, using ADB, or maybe even Root, to set the File-Explorer I downloaded as default? A response will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading.
Why do you need to be so extreme?
Don't like it, then don't use it.
You didn't really have to remove it.

I dislike having Apps on my Phone that I don't use. It's not extreme. It doesn't take much effort to use ADB to remove Google, along with other apps, that are simply Bloatware. If I won't use it, I'll remove it.

I appreciate the help, but this, unfortunately, does not resolve my issue. What I mean is that I would like to change the default File Manager App to the one I have downloaded, rather than the Stock File Manager App, which I no longer have on my Phone, as I have removed it via ADB commands. Any ideas/possible solutions? Thanks.

So, going to system settings>apps and then pressing the 3 dot/3 line menu button then selecting the option to "reset app preferences" and then going and trying to open a file doesn't give you prompt to choose which you app to use and give the choice between "just once" or "always"?
What I posted should have nothing to do with whether you have the stock file manager installed or not.

I'll try it, but I doubt that it'll work. Uninstalling the Stock should have essentially done the same thing, without resetting all the preferences. Still, I'll give it a go, just in case it works.
Did it work ,how did you solve the issue ?

I would like to start by saying this is entirely my fault but I would be very grateful for any help.
So, I downloaded a custom launcher called touchwiz 4.5 onto my phone and everything was working perfectly until I decided to open up root explorer and try to change the name so it would run in the background instead of TW3. So I did it but when I pressed home it asked me which launcher to use and I selected the wrong one and the set as default was checked. Now, I am stuck without a launcher so I can not open anything at all to fix the problem.
I will be extremely happy if I do not need to buy a new phone and thank anyone in advance.

Left Soft Key -> Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Find & select the TW4.5 launcher or whatever in the list -> scroll down to Launch by default -> Clear defaults.
Thanks, but there is one thing I forgot to mention earlier. I cannot access the main screen because I receive force close messages while the phone is on, and there is no delay between them so I cannot even use it. I was thinking maybe there is a way through the computer.

You have a root so you gave cwm recovery, correct?

Look up Odin in the Bible. You can use it to restore the phone. If you can make a backup of your micro SD onto a computer. Other than that if you deleted your launcher your phones gonna keep FCing on you. Cool thing to try to delete though.
ADB Push the apk(s) back over?
Your best bet would be to just go into CWM, create a NAND backup, Odin a new ROM, and advanced restore your NAND's data. That should clear up everything.
Using ADB is not that easy, especially when you're new to all this stuff.
Everyone should be forced to learn.basic adb commands before being able to root their phones for problems just like this.

Thanks a lot guys. I have found an already rooted stock rom for sgs4g and will now try and flash it to my phone. I will read up next time I try anything stupid like that.

Being you're flashing a ROM anyway you may want to consider something custom... There is a few benefits to them

Hi Guys,
Every ROM I flash I try to Freeze/Uninstall and remove from Boot Many, the YouTube App.
I don;t use it ever, but even if it says freezed successfully it still comes back after reboot.
What's so special about it and will it creat a problem if I delete it and main question is how?
Thank you

In my other android device experience, Nook Color / Simple Touch, YouTube is instrumental in the Google Apps authentication process. For instance to get market working on nooted versions of those devices you had to sign into YouTube first.
Why are you trying to get rid of it?

Never used it, if I need to I can view it in the brother. Just another app that loads up on boot and sits there using the battery

Fair enough. Why don't you give it a try? Make a nandroid backup and then delete the file via ADB in recovery mode (or move it to /data/local/tmp for easy restore). Clear Cache / Dalvik reboot and see if anything isn't working properly.
I would say you can delete via ADB in ICS but many people, myself included, are having issues mounting /system in ICS. It could be possible that this failure for /system to consistently mount could be why TiBu isn't freezing it properly.
Use root uninstaller, its how I have removed all system apps since my gb 2.3.1 days on my x10. A very effective method
Thank you for responces.
The proper way I found would be to transfer it to a User App and uninstall.

I use 7zip. open the archive and delete it, or add whatever .apk you desire. I always do this before I even flash a rom. Winrar should work fine, though.
Lately, I've been using titanium, and it will go to install an app like normal, but in the middle of it, it will open up the install prompt and either say "are you sure you want to install this app?" or "this app already exists, do you want to overwrite it?" "verify apps" in settings is unchecked, so I don't understand. never had this problem before. any help? debugging is also on btw, in dev settings.
Thanks for any help.

Usually this happened to me when I was attempting to restore something from Gapps, like Gmail, Search, or Email. I had to use Root Uninstaller to get rid of the stock versions first to avoid the prompt.
Do you use lucky patcher?
I had this issue also, I noticed it only happened with apps that had info stored on my SD card. I would wipe the app cache and sometimes delete the old app info entirely and it stopped happening for me.

Hi guys, I'm desperatly seeking help here.
I just rooted my n5 and I decided to install a custom rom (Resurrection Remix). I managed to have it run perfectly on the device but here's the problem, when I tried to restore apps and data from titanium some applications didn't install showing "App not installed" (the actual message is in italian but I think you get what I mean). I have unknown sources active so I thought it must be a kind of bug of the rom and I tried installing CM12.1. Obviously I'm not that lucky and I got the exact same issue with the exact same apps (eg Monument Valley PAYED from the Amazon App Shop and another couple of apps that worked fine before).
I tried wiping cache and dalvik via twrp but nothing. Even if I try to restore the app from the amazon shop (or reinstalling the apk of the other ones) it still won't work.
Flashing factory image of course fixes it but I want a custom rom and I don't think I can have it at this point.
HELP
I'm not sure what is causing the issue, but a workaround you can try is to convert all your app+data files into a flashable zip (its an option in titanium backup) and try to forcefully install them by flashing that zip in recovery.

I've used TiBu for years and it has never failed me. In what way do you think mybackup is better?
I just checked the features list and honestly there is barely any difference. It offers a few small things like setting multiple backup locations, and other small rather trivial (imo) things, whereas titanium backup offers major features like restoring data through zips. Each to their own, however.
I FIXED IT
Since I've seen this is a common problem I'm gonna share the solution.
So, let's start off by saying the problem is a bug in the choice of the installation directory, you have to change it to "internal" and not to "auto" which is impossible via app settings so you'll need the adb shell.
I'm not going to say how to get all that stuff done but it's pretty easy.
Once you have root access on the phone you should connect it via usb, open a cmd prompt and type:
adb devices
adb shell
su
su -shell
pm set-install-location 1

Click to collapse
If you want to check simply type
pm get-install-location

and you shall see
1[internal]

That's it. Fairly simple all in all but it took me a looot of time to get it to work.

Hi. When rooting Huawei Mate 8 I had to use "format data" option to remove encryption (it wouldn't take my PIN). Then I flashed magisk and when I rebooted back to system, I found out that there's only 1 basic theme available, HWthemes folder empty, downloaded themes not working (despite "theme applied" notification, not even after reboot). My goldmagazine theme is gone, and the setting "Homescreen style" shows a placeholder drawing where normally my theme picture would show. Does anybody have experience with this sort of special effect? What am I supposed to do to bring my themes back?

Everything that you had installed, saved and setup got wiped when you reset data. You'll have to reinstall/replace anything that got wiped and manually set it all back up again.

Hello and thanks for your reply. The phone was shipped with those themes from factory, I never installed them, so I didn't think they would be stored together with my personal data. Any idea why new themes downloaded from Huawei don't work either?
I have access to another phone like this which is not rooted. Can I somehow extract these files from there? (The folder shows as empty, even though it 50MB+)

Try reinstalling the stock firmware and then go through the rooting process again but this time don't encrypt the device and don't enable a PIN, you probably wont have the same issue.

There may or may not be another way, but the way I described is the simplest and least likely to have additional issues to fix. Trying to "add it back" may not be so simple and might cause other bugs along the way before you get it all straightened back out.
Do yourself a favor and take the simplest route.
