front camera line problem mi note 10 pro - Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Questions & Answers

hello, i have got this line in my front camera, whatever i do its not going away, formatting, re-installing the same firmware, messing with camera settings, trying the opencamera app.

It sounds like it is likely a hardware error in that case, seems your camera somehow got damaged.

actually this guy has same problem
https://c.mi.com/thread-2990028-1-0.html
and this guy mentioned that he got this problem when he updated his software

Quick Question: i am at V11.0.9.0.PFDMIXM Global Mi Note 10 Pro.
without unlocking bootloader, can i use miflash to downgrade?

well i was able to unlock today, and tried every single rom, all of them (china+russia+global+eea) for both (recovery+fastboot), even replacing persist, but to no avail. I then ultimately opened it up, and tried removing the flex camera cable and re-applying, that also didnt help. Still the line is their, its in the camera lens i am assuming somehow. I think my only option is to replace the front camera module, now can anyone please help me/guide me from where can i get the front camera module, tried the aliexpress and google engine, but to no avail. Please find the pic attached for the camera module. Appreciate any help. Thanks

[Q] Droid Maxx. Problem with camera.

Hello. The camera on my Droid Maxx worked week and stopped. Factory reset does not help. Flashing to custom firmwares does not help too. Replacing the camera module is also not helped. In this and can be a problem and how to fix it? Repair under warranty can not, because not possible to send the phone in US. I`m have Developer Edition, and therefore I can flash than required.

Well, you need to be a lot more specific in order to get helped. When you say "worked week and stopped" - what exactly does that mean? What happens when you try to open the camera? Any error messages? Anything opens at all? Does it attempt to open but force closes? Have you tried installing Google Camera from play store?

Sorry for the little information in first post.
The first week the camera worked as it should. The second week when focusing image "broke" and displays "Restart the camera." Now when I run the camera just a black screen and after a while the message "Restart the camera." Install third-party applications camera does not help.

Me too iis having the same problem, hope someone help me with this problem.
It's probably the main board. I've noticed that the phone is very fragile and any drop, can result in damaging the internals. The first thing to fail is the rear facing camera.

Nothing will help except replacing the motherboard. Unfortunately.
You can also try to press firmly at some point on back cover right under the camera - it can help and the camera will start for next 1-2 times.

[Q] Front and Back Camera and LED stopped working after screen replacment

Hi, I'm having an issue with my Nexus 5 which is that the front and back cameras as well as the back LED no longer seem to function. This happens in the stock Camera app where as soon as it is opened, an 'Unfortunately, Camera has stopped.' message comes up and blackness is shown. This also happens in third party apps such as Snapchat where the message 'Snapchat was unable to open the camera. You may need to restart your device ' comes up. In addition, upon attempting to use Tesla LED, the back facing LED does not turn on.
The likely cause that I can see is the recent screen replacement that took place. I ordered this[1] online which came with a new set of cameras as well as a new screen. I took the motherboard, battery and rear case from the old phone and attached them to the new set of cameras and the new screen.
After performing the replacement, everything else worked except the cameras and the LED.
Upon seeing the issue, I tried swapping out the new rear facing camera (that came with the screen replacement) for the old rear facing camera that was in the old phone (the camera still worked before the replacement). After swapping the rear camera the issue was unchanged.
I have tried the following in terms of software fixes:
-Other camera applications - they crash or are black
-Clear cache and application data for the stock camera app - no effect
-Change to ART - no effect
I would greatly appreciate any help or advice that you can offer.
I'd reinstall stock rom and gapps, if they still don't work you know it's a hardware problem for sure. Then troubleshoot from there.

I factory reset the device and tried the default Google Apps, still having the same issues.
Any suggestions for hardware trouble shooting?

As for hardware trouble shooting, being that you know the original cameras worked, all you can do is check the connections . I'd unplug them and plug them back in.
I'd also try flashing the 4.4 stock camera zip and see if that works.

I tried reattaching all of the physical connections and that did not seem to make a difference.
In regards to flashing the 4.4 stock camera zip, would you be able to give me a little guidance as to how that process would occur?
Thanks so much for your help so far.
You'd need to root, install a custom recovery (twrp), use titanium backup to uninstall camera. Then boot into your custom recovery and install the camera zip.

Sorry for such a long response time.
I updated the phone to 4.4.3.
Interestingly the back facing camera appears to have started working. The default camera application still fails to open, but when I use another application (Snapchat) and have it set to try the backfacing camera first, everything seems to work ok. However, when I switch to front facing the application says that it can't find the camera.
In addition, the back facing LED has begun to work again as well.
Previously, I had switched out the new rear facing camera (that came with the casing) for the old rear facing camera hoping that it might changes things. I recognize retrospectively that my method of testing was flawed as it seems as though regardless of whether one of the cameras is/was working the application would not open.
Hoping that the replacement of the rear facing had caused it to start working, I swapped out the new front facing camera for the old one. Upon testing, the issues with the front facing camera seem to persist.
At this point I'm not sure how to proceed. The lack of functionality of both front facing cameras (the old and the new) would seem to suggest an issue with the connector on the motherboard if the problem were hardware based. I'm not sure, though, if the problem could somehow be in software.
One software phenomenon that I observed is that as soon as I try to use the front facing camera, the back facing camera stops working again requiring the application to be reset. This occurrence has led me to question the causation between the update and the new functionality. It is possible that in my testing of the device before the update, I had simply been opening the front facing camera and upon seeing it fail, and trying the back facing camera and seeing it fail (because I had tried the front facing camera), that I assumed it was not working.
If you have any recommendations on how to proceed I would greatly appreciate hearing them. If not then thanks for all your help.

Any updates mate? Did you made it work ?
I opened my nexus to fix the gps. Everything worked fine, until suddenly gps stopped working. I opened again, remove the fix, still the same.
Then my camera stopped working as well. "Cannot connect to camera" or something like this it gave me.
I've updated from 4.4.4 kitkat to android L latest build, and gps works but the camera app crashes, as well as any other camera on market ( either black screen or crash ).
Any help for me ?
Any answer it will be appreciated.
Same exact issue with front facing camera after glass replacement. Anybody find a fix yet?

The camera does not focus after you change it

The camera on my phone started to show green screen and to show double image on the same screen, Then I bought 2 new cameras and they worked but neither one focuses.
If you bring closer a very strong magnet to the camera improves the focus but not 100%
-Already try with a clean system, new rom
-Try without the phone chassis
-Try in safe mode
-Try different camera apps, like opencamera camera L, among others
Help !
No body ?
Yeah they are fake thats why. You have to keep buying them and eventually you will get a working one. I myself bought about 4-5 of them (from ebay they were dirt cheap) and eventually one of them worked.
recently i bought a camera replacement part and replace it, yesterday i noticed it unable to focus, i search online for the solutions, and i tried restart, clear app data, flash the rom again, try many different camera app, try barcode scanner, none of it work, and i gave up and think it is hardware problem and i order the camera from other supplier...
but today, the camera can focus...the only thing i can think of what make this happen is i uninstall the google camera and install only footej camera. afternoon i try install google camera, initially it works well, but in the evening, it unable to focus again...
i try to uninstall google camera and left only footej camera, and try reconnect the camera cable, the camera is able to focus again...will try another few days and see how...

LG g5 main camera broken?

Hey there, I have a major problem with my LG G5 SE and it's really annoying me. One day a few weeks ago the camera app decided to crash and when I went back in I found I was in trouble as the main camera was not showing at all it would glitch out completely and show the front camera and back wide angle only and the interface for rear and front are the wrong way round... I've tried everything out there to try and fix the main camera not working or appearing anywhere even in third party apps... I've even factory reset it so many times did nothing, and that failed to sort out the problem so I am really stuck on what to do next as it has such a fantastic camera and somehow has stopped working recently, image below is what it always shows even after cache and data cleared i try switching cameras in app and shows that again every a time I do so, and no idea why but it seems a software fault which I cannot fix myself clearly as I've tried everything out there, any ideas please as I do not know what to do...(ID RATHER NOT HAVE TO SEND OFF TO BE REPAIRED AS IM SURE ITE FIXABLE) Thanks

Rear camera stopped working randomly

Yesterday, I could use my rear camera normally without problems. Now every app that uses the rear camera (Camera, Snapchat, etc.) crashes instatnly without giving chance to switch to front facing camera. Tried factory reset like a million times without any luck. What could be the possible reason and how can i get it back to work ?
HTC U11 Life Android One 8.1.0 (EU/PL) 32 GB
Same problem here...any fix for this?
same problem here, any solutions?
add another person. My wife's u11 just stopped working no matter the resets, forced RUU updates (stock) and everything.
Spoke to HTC they said they'd fix it but said they have no timetable on when they'd return it! They're falling apart.

This is U11 life thread and not u11, and its related to a not working camera module and not the whole device. For HTC repair i can tell you it takes something between 3 and 12 months to get the device back. No joke you can read about these long repair times a lot online.

same issue here. No fix but to confirm it's a hardware issue, I use Google voice commands to say "Take a selfie" - which launches the camera app with the front facing camera selected.
If that works fine, then it is likely a hardware issue with the rear camera, you can contact HTC, though your mileage may vary.
If front-facing camera is also not working, that could indicate a software issue you could try resetting the camera settings back to default. Other possible causes might be the disk / sd card where photos are being stored when camera is launched....
Back camera stopped working completely here, no picture, just black and the camera app closes after 5 sec. Resetting camera app did not help. Other camera app (open camera) has the same problem.
Front camera works from “long tap / selfie cam”
