Bricked One plus 6 [no software workd] [Help post] - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

My one plus 6 device suddenly bricked without any sign. Shows only boot loader screen. I can reach recovery mood. I wiped all data (I select "erase everything(Music, pics, etc). Then I tried MSM tool (Run as administrator). After complete download it reboot again and wait for 1/2 min. It gose again to boot loop. Then I tried fastboot method. It said "failed to load 'images.zip': Not enough space". I try to wipe data by command "fastboot erase userdata". It said "FAILED (remote: Erase is not allowed in Lock State)". Also run "flash-all.bat" and it said "FAILED (remote: Flashing is not allowed in Lock State)". Nothing happen on my phone screen. Typed "fastboot continue" and it goes to boot loop. Now I stacked in boot loop screen. What should i do now??

you can go into recovery mod that means your phone is not brick.should you try to use fastboot rom?

Of course You can't flash anything in fastboot nor in recovery...when you fleshed with msm download tool first time you've LOCKED YOUR BOOTLOADER...SO NO MORE FASTBOOT AND RECOVERY FLASHES...TRY WITH MSM TOOL AGAIN...AND DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING...OR UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER AGAIN...YOU CAN READ HOW BASED ON WHAT OOS VERSION IS YOU ON. READ ABOUT IT. AND REMEMBER WHEN IT SAYS LOCKED STATE AND CAN'T FLASH IN FASTBOOT IT MEANS YOUR BOOTLOADER IS LOCKED...

Ok i understand. I tried MSM tool also. After connect my phone with PC this software show connected status. After hit start it start to update. All process work perfectly fine and goes to completed status (text in MSM tool become green). My phone boot up and 1 or 2 min later it shows welcome screen without any touch response. Touch do not work (though touch was ok). After a few second my phone reboot again and stuck into bool loop again. I tried "enchilada_22_O.09_180517", "ANDROID+9+OOS+9.0.8+enchilada_22_O.33_190801_repack", "ANDROID+10+OOS+10.3.2+enchilada_22_J.44_200222". All MSM tools ended up with same result

Are you not able to unlock bootloader via fastboot and then flash a fastboot ROM?

Ok...i think you haven't tried full stock firmware which is msmdonwload tool but with 5.1.6 firmware...or you tried it?that might change everything...
Plus if that didn't worked as well...you should search for oneplus 6 fastboot roms here in xda...mauronofrio has a dedicated thread for it...search oneplus 6 fastboot rom on google and you should see an xda thread...go there download latest 10.3.3 and read all the instructions CAREFULLY...it might help you...try it and give us a feedback...

Yes i tried it also. Download fastboot rom (9.0.9-OnePlus6Oxygen_22_OTA_034_all_1909112343_dd26-FASTBOOT) and copy all file to adb - platform tools v28.0.0. After clicking all-flash.bat it continuing some work and at last says "FAILED (remote: Flashing is not allowed in Lock State)"
I also do some nonseance work. I tried "MsmDownloadToolV4.0InternationalVersionOxygenOS5.1.5" and then enchilada_22_O.09_180517 2 times, later on "ANDROID+10+OOS+10.3.0+enchilada_22_J.42_191214". It worked!! My phone showing welcome screen. Every things seems ok. But i a few min latter realize that none of phone sensor working. So i decided switch other OOS. but 1st i unlock boot loaded. Use "fulldowngrade_wipe_MSM_17819_181025_2315_user_MP1_release.zip" role back pack via local OTA update. But its not working. stack in boot loop. Use fastboot rom "9.0.9-OnePlus6Oxygen_22_OTA_034_all_1909112343_dd26-FASTBOOT.zip". Same this goes there. stuck in boot loop. how can i get my phone sensor worked or Is there any way to role back?

Did you switch on "unlock bootloader" under developer options? It could be the reason for bootloop after MSm flash.

I also do some nonsense work. I flash "MsmDownloadToolV4.0InternationalVersionOxygenOS5.1.5" and flash "enchilada_22_O.09_180517" 2 times and then flash "ANDROID+10+OOS+10.3.0+enchilada_22_J.42_191214.zip". Surprisingly it worked!! I dont know why and how it worked.

Flash whatever build you want...and then go to mauronofrios xda page where it has fastboot roms for op6...download the oos version that you have...and there will be one option FLASH ONLY PERSIST(FLASH PERSIST)...flash it via fastboot with oos installed and sensors should work...but for that you have to unlock your bootloader first...
Feels like you've damaged your phones critical partitions....I SAID READ MAURONOFRIOS THREAD CAREFULLY... ESPECIALLY FLASHING INSTRUCTIONS...
Wait here for a minute...

Read this carefully...i said you damaged all your phones CRITICALS...SO WHAT YOU NEED TO DO?
ALSO READ FOR THE SENSOR FLASH THAT I'VE SAID...AND TRY IT...i also had a sensor problem back in the days(touch worked...but no other sensor like proximity or gyro working)...and tried msmtool several times... didn't helped me...but this guys thread helped a lot with that...
Here is the thread also if You can't find it

you should use miniADB and fastboot tool to unlock bootbloader using instruction in forum.
fastboot rom,you only run all-flash.bat by clicking on it (not copy all files to adb-platform tool)before run the line" flash-all.bat" you should unzip file images.zip in fastboot rom.

[Q] OnePlus One - Unable to unlock bootloader again after relocking

Hi Guys,
Hope to get some help here.
So i unlocked the bootloader of my one plus one and installed supersu + Twrp recovery. All worked fine until i decided to relock the bootloader.
I've put the device into fastboot mode and executed "fastboot oem lock" with twrp recovery still in there.
Now i am trying to unlock the bootloader again using "fastboot oem unlock" to be able to flash the stock recovery and having issues.
output of commands:
Code:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot oem unlock
...
OKAY [ 0.004s]
finished. total time: 0.005s
C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>
After this it boots straight to twrp recovery. I then hit reboot system and go back to fastboot mode and run the below:
Code:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot flash recovery recovery
.img
target reported max download size of 536870912 bytes
sending 'recovery' (12260 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.389s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: Device not unlocked cannot flash or erase)
finished. total time: 0.404s
Anyone has an idea how i can unlock the bootloader again ?
Thanks
Vik
Would it let you reflash the stock factory image thru fastboot? Maybe if you could do that it would let you unlock again. And it would give you stock recovery.
Or else what about the option in developer settings to update the stock cm recovery when installing an update. Maybe you could install an official update thru TWRP and get stock recovery back?
Just throwing out ideas, hope you figure it out
I've documented ths same issue describe here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help/locked-bootloader-twr-rooted-t2820341
The solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/development/mod-reset-unlock-tamper-bit-t2820912

Thanks for the reply.. I already tried all that, even using adb sideload and keep getting same error as mentioned above. I'll try the solution lemonspeakers suggested later today and post the outcome.

Be careful if you updated your phone to XNPH30O OTA,
!!! Warning !!!
In the NEW OTA CM11S XNPH30O, the bootloader (aboot) img size changed....
We request all not to apply the unlocker scripts on the new bootloader , until we confirm/find the new bit position.
It might brick your phone and corrupt bootloader...

It won't work.. do not try it if you updated to XNPH30O using the OTA.

I ran this command:
Code:
fastboot.exe boot TWRP-2.7.1.0.img
But the next step does not work:
Code:
It will boot your phone into recovery once from the recovery image
stored in your PC temporarily
then you can flash the zip either by sideload or from sdcard...
I got:
downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [ 0.484s]
booting...
FAILED (remote: Device not unlocked cannot boot)
finished. total time: 0.487s
That's because you can't boot a recovery with the recent bootloader unless you're unlocked.

plz help same issue

Softbrick, can't unlock bootloader, that's why I cant unbrick it, pls help!

So hello! I need some help here. A friend of a friend gave me this oneplus one for repair and at first it seemed easy cause i thought oh it's only a softbrick. There is a bootloop and I can access the original recovery and Fastboot. Now when I followed the unbricking guides I could not clean install CM12S because appereantly the bootloader is not unlocked but do I need to have an unlocked bootloader to install a clean signed version of CM12S?
I am trying to solve the issue with bacon root toolkit 1.0.3. I put the OPO into fastboot mode and click on "back to stock", select a signed fastboot version cm12.1s and my device is detected as a fastboot device. But now i get these weird error codes in command prompt
" FAILED (remote: Device not unlocked cannot flash or erase)" and then just another bootloop.
So I tried to unlock the bootloader with the command "fastboot oem unlock" and it does something but then when i check it with "fastboot oem device-info" it displays
"(bootloader) Device tampered: true
(bootloader) Device unlocked: false
(bootloader) Charger screen enabled: false
(bootloader) Display panel:
OKAY [ 0.007s]
finished. total time: 0.008s"
hmmm.. so it does not unlock the bootloader but what does device tampered mean?
How do i unlock the bootloader and ultimately unbrick this device?
any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi
Trying to help.
Your device might be tampered as the "fastboot oem device-info" result shows.
Follow the steps and see if it helps (all commands below are to be entered without quotes)
1. Download latest cm13 nightly or the cm12.1-snapshot and extract the "boot.img" from it.
2. Connect the phone in fastboot mode and check connection by "fastboot devices."
3. Enter the command "fastboot flash recovery boot.img" (the one extracted above).
4. Then enter "fastboot format cache".
5. After the boot.img is flashed, enter "fastboot reboot" to reboot the phone and the let the phone boot fully to homescreen. If stuck on bootscreen( i assume rom is not tampered with) try entering stock recovery and clear cache and dalvik-cache.
6. Now again enter bootloader by reboot or using combo and check connection by "fastboot devices".
7. Now enter "fastboot oem unlock".
8. Now check "fastboot oem device-info".
It should be unlocked like:
(bootloader) Device tampered: true

(bootloader) Device unlocked: true
Please do reply if it helped.

Thanks for the reply! I tried the steps but sadly it did not work.
I downloaded cm13, extracted it to my fastboot.exe folder and did enter the commands.
"c:\unlock>fastboot devices
9c50d771 fastboot"
So my device does show up which means drivers are properly installed aren't they?
"c:\unlock>fastboot flash recovery boot.img
target reported max download size of 1073741824 bytes
sending 'recovery' (7254 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.232s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: Device not unlocked cannot flash or erase)
finished. total time: 0.254s"
There is the error message again, I can't flash the stock recovery becaue the bootloader is not unlocked I think but I don't know what else to do.
then:
"c:\unlock>fastboot format cache

I did that too, I can't tell if it formatted cache or not, I dunnoooo
and then i entered the two commands to unlock and then check the bootloader:
"c:\unlock>fastboot reboot

finished. total time: 0.005s

sooooo it sadly did not work

Hi I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago, if you're able to boot into a custom recovery, flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/development/mod-reset-unlock-tamper-bit-t2820912 it's an alternative way of getting bootloader unlocked. Hope it helps

I have looked into that but how do I flash it?
I tried the commands "fastboot boot -image file-" but it says i cant do that cause once again the bootloader is locked
then there is "fastboot boot recovery -image file-" but then it says " cant find directory" or something like that..
could you please give me step by stepe instruction how you solved the issue?
I am getting very frustrated here.. beginning to think it's unsolveable.
sadly i can't boot into a custom recovery :C

You flash this zip in a custom recovery like any other mod. Luckily for me I still had my twrp installed so I managed to do it, but you should be able to temporarily boot from it. Is your custom recovery image in the active directory?

I tried that too.. Spoiler.. it did not work.
The drivers seem to work. I have my windows 10 set to testmode. The OPO is recognized by the Msm8974DownloadTool,, when I click on "start" the bar moves to 3/4 of the bar but then something happens and I get a "sahara" message". I tried it maybe over 10 times now. Sometimes it shows me the message immediately. Sometimes the green bar gets to 1/4 of the bar and then the "sahara" message. But sometimes the bar gets to 4/4 one time and then it says "(somethinsomething)usb(somethingsomething in chinese i guess)" and thats it. Only bootloop as a result. Maaaaan this is getting annoying.
I think where something might have gone wrong was trying to use a toolkit. Try this:
Download latest fastboot images from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/official-cm11s-roms-ota-updates-t2906746
Then go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guides-bacon-timmaaas-how-to-guides-t2839471
Scroll down to #8 and follow the instructions to flash all of the images using fastboot. Hopefully, you will be able to boot the phone after that. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply and trying to help! but as I stated in the title my bootloader is LOCKED so i can't write anything to it. The guide of Heisenberg states clearly "Prerequisites: unlocked bootloader." so I knew it would not work but I tried it anyway.. sadly it did not work.. this is what it's giving me:
"C:\Users\Abdulla\Desktop\cm-12.1-YOG7DAS2K1-bacon-signed-fastboot-bed37f2e18>fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin

funny thing is, it's "only" a softbrick but behaves like a hardbrick. I can't do anything and I don't know what to do at this point.

I will try the ColorOS hardbrick method on a virtual XP machine and report back.
I tried it on a virtual XP machine but i can't get to mount the OPO, i get this error message.. now the first sentence is german and its says " the usb device Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM QHSUSB__BULK could not be mounted on the virtual mashine windows xp."

I don't even know if it's worth the effort trying to find a XP system and try it.. my hopes that it would work are very low at this point.. please let me know if you know a solution to this nightmare.

When you do a fastboot oem unlock does it reboot you back into recovery?
I used HighOnAndroid's guide to unlock bootloader, flash a custom recovery, and root.

Why don't you flash firmware in unlocked bootloader, if possible ( please refer in the forum, as i think there's a way to flash firmware and then you can unlock bootloader )
Go to an independent repair shop. They have the equipment to flash on the motherboard.

[SOLVED] No boot in TWRP possible. Under no circumstances...

I have a strange problem with my brand new Mi Mix 2s.
My procedure from the beginning:
Unlook using tool from Xiaomi. For this I had to wait 72h.
Subsequently, the unlooking was considered successful.
For this I used my notebook with Windows7 (no VM).
Now I got the needed files and want to start with the installation of TWRP.
I also use my notebook but with Linux, my everyday operating system.
I have set the phone to fastboot mode (vol-down + power).
With fastboot devices you can find the phone. But commands like flash or boot end in a frozen console.
Unusual. Now I try it again in Windows7 (dualboot). The same problem.
Then I try the Windows10 game computer of my son.
The commands are confirmed as successful.
But in fact nothing happens. Nothing is flashed and I am not in the TWRP to boot.
Here the console output:

Unfortunately, I am not aware of any possibilities to solve the problem further.
Does anyone have suggestions or ideas?
Which TWRP are you flashing? Are you sure that it is the proper file for mix 2s?
What happens when you reboot the phone after flashing recovery with vol+ and power?
Flash twrp then restart manually holding vol+ and power buttons.

Yes. It is this version: https://eu.dl.twrp.me/polaris/
I have tried your tip. Does not work either.
Can it be helpful to close the bootloader and perform unloocking again?
How is the usual way to lock the device again? Using fastboot, or are there other solutions?
Can I really reopen the bootloader afterwards?
Can someone confirm that multiple opening is possible with the MIunlock tool?

Yes you can unlock again. I've done it myself.
I am not sure what is happening in your situation. Which MIUI version are you running?
I'd suggest you to flash a more recent version of MIUI with the Mi Flash tool.
Perhaps MIUI developer 8.12.27 version.
Let it boot to system after flashing
Then turn off, flash twrp, disconnect cable,
reboot from fastboot with Power and Vol+
No other ideas honestly

For me sometimes fastboot just does not want to work on my laptop, then I switch usb ports and it magically works again. It is usually an issue on the PC. try abother cable as well. You cab also try to uninstall your adb/fastboot drivers and install these: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
Preferably on the Windows10 machine you have, as it seems closest to working.
Miui version should not be relevant, but it might be that yours is somehow messed up. I would suggest you to avoid using the mi flash tool for now as it uses fastboot to flash the different images and it might cause other issues as clearly fastboot is somehow broken. You can try to update to a dev rom thorough the phone update app?
Btw when you do fastboot boot twrp.img you have to keep the cable plugged in
Didn't change anything. Damn it.
check this
read this page (need a translater)
in MiMix2s_Xiaomi.eu_Firmware yoo find a install_TWRP.bat in folder 02_TWRP
exchange and rename your new twrp to the name in the folder

booted TWRP v8 from this thread,
only saw cryptic files and just used an OTG adapter to install more *imgs and *zips.
Not everything works as it should yet, but it will...

Your storage is encrypted, that's why you have the "cryptic files".
TWRP v8 can not decrypt your storage, the latest version can though

My OnePlus 7 Pro is bricked.

My OnePlus 7 Pro keep booting into fastboot mode. Neither I can access recovery nor can start the phone. It's always comes back to recovery.
Please help me getting it done.
Bootloader is unlocked.
You haven't given enough info, tell us step by step how your "Bootloader is unlocked".
We would need to know if you did it properly, you probably need to go into the recovery and perform a "Full wipe". Unlocking the bootloader usually does that anyway.
The normal method is:
Enabled developer settings by pressing the version number in the about section 7 times and entering your pin
Copy the adb developer folder from the mounted OnePlus driver partition you usually get on your computer when attaching the phone, into a folder on your hard drive, and enable adb in developer settings.
In developer settings enable "OEM unlocking"
Reboot into fastboot mode
Open a command window (with admin privileges) in the folder you copied to your hard drive (In Windows, hold down shift and right click inside the folder, then click "Open Command Window..."
Run the command "fastboot oem unlock"
Accept the prompt shown on the phone
This will wipe the phone back to factory reset so ensure you have backed up your data, although you should be doing that before you even start.
Flash the appropriate TWRP recovery partition (which afaik isn't even available yet so I'm not sure why you would unlock the bootloader so soon to be honest
If you didn't perform those steps or performed them in the wrong order then you've done it wrong.
Performing a factory reset in the recovery partition may get it booting again but it's hard to know with the minimal information you've provided.
Although again, why are you unlocking the bootloader when there hasn't been a TWRP version released yet? You won't be able to flash anything, not even Magisk.
I've unlocked bootloader by command of OEM unlocking.
After than the unlock, I rebooted it's again And installed some Magisk file, which made it stuck at fastboot.
I can't access the Recovery nor can restart Phone.
All I can do is switched it off And get back into fastboot again after.
Yeah, you can't flash things with the default recovery (That's just made for flashing the default builds), that's most likely why. Magisk was made to be flashed with TWRP.
Did you use the test TWRP here? If so, then go to that thread for help.
If you can get into the OnePlus recovery you could maybe grab a build from here and flash the default rom back, then start again using the guide I showed you but, tbh, I would wait until a good TWRP build is established and Magisk is confirmed to be working.
That thread also looks like it has the default recovery image too so you can flash that back on the phone with :
fastboot flash recovery filename (Just put the recovery image into the same folder as your adb.exe and fastboot.exe
Then see if you can reboot into it and flash the stock rom back on from the same thread.
How can I get things done back, all I've is fastboot.
It's a New set, please help (

If you have fastboot, I've just told you how to get the default recovery back in above.
---------- Post added at 05:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:28 PM ----------
Reading that thread again, flashing recovery is not as simple as it used to be due to the A/B partition model used now, so you'll need to read the instructions shown for recovery. My guess is that you didn't read them properly and flashed the recovery to the wrong partition. If you have flashed that TWRP then you need to seek support in that thread.

This will sound stupid, but I had similar issues with the pixel and it was due to drivers and the port. Tried from a different machine and worked. Do you have the luxury to do so ?
Man, I've flashed like tons of Custom ROMs and Twrp from the same machine everytime.
I used to be a Xioami Redmi Note 5 pro user, And I've flashed almost every ROMs And root and everything, and same with my Redmi Note 3.
I don't think the machine have some fault some how.
It was Just like I had unlocked the bootloader And just after I flashed some Magisk ISO file which got flashed completely, And then all I'm stucked with the Fastboot, everything Stopped working, And everytime I'm dragged info fastboot.
And also as I said, can't flash Twrp.

Why are you trying to flash recovery partitions when they don't exist on this device? Recovery is on the boot partition.

Since you are familiar with custom rom, unlocked bootloader etc you should had known already that you must NOT flash any kind Magisk staff without having proper and functional twrp.
Even if it flashed successful that doesn't mean will work after reboot and normal restart.
That why you've brick your device.
And on the other hand with A/B partition things has changed dramatically evolving all custom made staff and how they works.

Oneplus device not work the same way as Xiaomi you've described.

Any post that describe exactly what changed? I havent flashed custom roms/kernels in close to two years due to OOS being satisfying enough. What I have done is fastboot into twrp and flash magisk(I believe). Will I still be able to do that with OP7 Pro?

My OnePlus 7 Pro keep booting into fastboot mode. Neither I can access recovery nor can start the phone. It's always comes back to recovery.
Please help me getting it done.
Bootloader is unlocked.

Man, thank you so much
You literally made my day,
Wht I've did wrong in a flow was I had given the command: fastboot flash boot and the magisk location.
That was a stupidity, all I forgot was the command.
Now I used the same command and then used oxygen os fastboot flashable all bat file, as suggested by a member.
And here's my phone back. )
Thanks
In case, I'm completely New to OnePlus
It someone suggest me how to Root OnePlus 7 Pro normally, cuz I've to edit the build prop due to some reason.
My bootloader is unlocked but can't flash custom recovery.

I've did that tons of time on my past phone,it never did a brick TBH.

Pixel 3a - stuck on BootLoader with: error boot prepar

Hello,
I followed the steps on these two links:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-3a-xl/how-to/how-to-root-pixel-3a-3a-xl-twrp-t3928868
https://www.**********.com/unlock-pixel-3a-bootloader-and-root-pixel-3a-3a-xl/
To root my Pixel 3A. I unlocked it successfully, and then I did the final step of this command:
fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img
But now my device is stuck on the bootloader screen. The bottom lines say:
Device state: unlocked
Boot slot: b
Enter reason: error boot prepare
I tried the options on the boot loader (rescue mode, recover mode, restart bootloader, powering off and restarting) but it only takes me back to the bootloader screen with same error.
From my MAC, I can still do the commands:
fastboot reboot (which does reboot the phone)
and
fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img, which shows this:
Sending 'boot_b' (29136 KB) OKAY [ 0.760s]
Writing 'boot_b' OKAY [ 0.189s]
Finished. Total time: 1.219s
But not sure what else I can do to get out of the bootloader screen
Any help would be appreciated, as the phone is effectively bricked

Sounds like your magisk file is either the wrong version or corrupted. Download the full Google image, extract the boot.img from that and ash that image file using the fastboot flash boot boot.img command. Alternatively you could download the mvk kernel from here on xda and flash that. It's pre-rooted.

Thanks for that.. For whatever reason the MVK_Sargo_v10.22_magisk_patched.img version did not work, but the MVK_Sargo_v10.21_magisk_patched.img one did!

If 21 worked but 22 didn't... Going from my faltering memory that means your not on March security, your on feb or earlier. 22 only worked on March, i am running it myself.
I got stuck here, too... I used the flash tool (flash.android.com) and it put me back to stock after about a 20 minute progress bar crawl
I have the same problem can someone help me?
