U* relates to the bootloader (BL) version you got in your stock firmware.
It is known for being well protected, I'm not sure you can downgrade it, so avoid stock upgrades if possible, as the BL will be upgraded too!
You can see it in the name of the rom image (and in many other ways), example:
A530FXXU8ASK1
U8 = bootloader v8

Flashing nougat from G930F international to G930W8 Canadian Variant

I know it is cross flashable since they are both Exynos. But my question is , could I do this with the new nougat update ?
I am not rooted , i don't have TWRP installed , and i don't have Knox tripped either. Is it possible to this without rooting and tripping Knox ? Or I'm better waiting for the official release. Aka next year when the S9 foldable phone is announced ?

You can install TWRP and then do ROOT how you like. CF-Auto-Root is ROOT via SuperSU flashable by Odin, if we don't have TWRP yet (or we cannot disabled OEM Unlock to flash TWRP, then first CF-Auto-Root then TWRP ).
P.S.
Why you don't update your phone to latest stock 7.0 avaiable for your model, then CF-Auto-Root/TWRP and do what you want?

Need a new custom ROM for my device please

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum but I've been following you for a long time. I have a Samsung Galaxy J3 2017 model SM-J330FN. I was able to install the android oreo update 8.0 although it has not yet been officially released using Odin. My question is: are there other custom ROMs, which maybe include the 8.1 update or are already customized? Unfortunately I could not find any more and I trust you that you are the guru of modding. I hope in your answer guys :fingers-crossed:

No Samsung being Samsung won't let you downgrade. Best choice is for your model is to try a custom rom that is Oreo favoured ( with binary 9 ).
