Old Guide removed
Does it works on any firmware with any boot.img ?
any problems in daily use?
Dear community,
I'm planning to get an Xperia 5 and get root/TWRP on it running. So my question is:
- are there any limitations regarding the trim area if I unlock the bootloader as proposed ?
- is the guide above functional for actual phones ?
Greets,
RV.
Hi, does anybody know if this guide will work on a Windows 7 machine?

I need help with this very specific model phone:
Unlocking the Bootloader
Rooting
Finding a proper VIBEUI 1.5+ /KK 4.4.x FW that fits this specific model
I went through A LOT of forum pages
translated both chinese and russian forums
but had no luck with this phone.
I also read that VIBE UI 2.0 is about to come out
but the translation from Chinese always mentions something about some sort of "brush" software for upgrading
or the translation might have been off.
please help
it's a great phone but I'm limited here, I need KK to use BT4.0 and other features.
THANKS IN ADVANCE!
Tom
Hi!
I search XDA....heres a thread that popped right up for root.
Please read it all very carefully....and if you proceed...follow the instructions exactly.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2597590
That one may be 4.2.2....tho later in the thread they are talking about 4.4.2...so maybe start on last page and read back. Might be links to newer version.
Edit: posted dupe link.
To unlock boot loader, I saw in that thread you use fastboot and use command...
Fastboot OEM unlock
Its a long thread, but personally I'd skim through it all. You will learn a lot, before you do anything.
Also that's a perfect thread to ask for further help.
Good luck!
i just got this phone and it is awesome except when the prior owner updated the firmware it no longer is rooted. there is a built in app called super su but it is missing a binary file it says needs to be installed to root the phone? also as a backup i am trying to find a mirrored link or a working link for the most current android firmware for my model. can anyone please help me by providing simple, basic easy to understand way how to root my phone, what free app will be needed to root it and last a link for the firmware. it just says on the container the phone was in blu studio 5.0 c there is no hd written next to the model description. thank you for taking time to read this.
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. A quick search uncovered a great thread detailing how to root this phone:
[How-To] BLU Studio 5.0 C (D536U) – Rooting, Recovery Install, Flash Latest Stock Rom
That thread also contains a link to the latest stock firmware for your device. For future reference you can find the specific device forum for this phone here:
Blu Studio 5
Good luck!
firmware
i tried the link for the factory rom and it was a dead link said file was no longer there for download. to be honest since there is alot involved in flashing the phone with the most current firmware available i am going to just pass and just keep what the phone currently has firmware wise. i do not want to by mistake brick the phone. all i really want to do is have on hand a copy of the most current firmware for my phone so in the event i need to re-flash it i can. i have tried seeking the firmware file for the phone but keep hitting dead links. thank you for your time. if u do have a live link so i can download a up to date firmware for the phone i could use that. thank you

I can't seem to find what you're looking for, it's probably best to ask in the q&a section for your device here:

Dear XDA members.
I've looked all over XDA for a rooted 5.0.1 firmware but I couldn't find it anywhere, even though roots for 5.0.2 and 5.1.x are abundantly available.
I have a Sony Xperia Z3 - D6603 - Unlocked Bootloader. I am a NOOB when it comes to development, yet I am very familiar with flashing FTFs using Flashtools, I am also familiar with ADB commands, accessing and using different recoveries, and installing modified ROMS.
I would like you to assist me in one topic or the other:
1- Either, guide me to the firmware number of the Z3 5.0.1 or 5.0 FTF and teach me how to prepare it to be pre-rooted with the latest SuperSU, so I would prepare the modified stock firmware my self and flash-it on my phone.
2- Or, if possible or already available and I couldn't find it, please link me to a Z3 D6603 5.0 or 5.0.1 pre-rooted zip so I could flash it.
I am very grateful for your assistance
PS: I posted this before in XDA assist, it had 46 views but no replies. I am hoping that here it would be more interesting to you. I am not sure whether I should post this as an XDA: DEVDB since I am not starting a development project. If this post is wrongly placed, please notify me.

AFAIK there is no 5.0.1 android for the z3.
You can flash either kitkat or 5.0.2 lollipop.
Why do you want 5.0.1 anyways, I don't see a reason.
This is the wrong section for questions/requests BTW. Use q/a section.

Thank you for your response.
I need a 5.0.1 version to run a service that is only compatible up to 5.0.1.
Thank you for the assistance, and sorry for posting in the wrong place. I posted in the Q/A section and I didn't get any answers.
I will request a Mod to remove the post from here.

Build your own ROM then for example, or look if there is one with that. Stock is not available with that version AFAIK, they skipped it.

Hi everyone,
I'm using TWRP since a while but I'm facing a new "challenge" I've buy a unbranded tablet -> https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001315507846.html
Spoiler: Specs
Android version
10.0
Baseband version
M0LY.WR8.W1449.MD.WG.MRV16, 2020/05/15 18:17
Kernel
3.10.72+
Build number
TAB910_JB260000_20200717
The question is how to boot on a custom recovery image ? It's seem TWRP only work by brand -> https://twrp.me/Devices/ is there no "universal" TWRP image ? or do you know an alternative to TWRP ?
I searched the forum for a dedicated TWRP topic, but could found any (always a sub of a branded device :/ ) so @Moderator Committee feel free to move my topic.

⬆ uping my question, still no ideas how to solve this...
I need help like this questions. Pls.
I've bought smartphone from wish.com
And I wanna install TWRP but no brand
https://twrp.me/Devices/ is there no "universal" TWRP image on that. How to solve this?
Thanks for attention and help
Here you go:
[CLOSED] I Will build TWRP for your device!
I wanna build twrp for your device! Pls give info about your device! if possible give stock firmware!

I have been into installing custom ROMs and rooting Android for many years now, used many mid range Android devices, never tried to build one from source (did not have good enough hardware or broadband), now I have got both and want to try building ROM from source and got many questions, any help would be appreciated.
Important questions:(Need these answers before I start downloading Repos)
Is it possible to create any Android version Rom for any device? like I used to have Moto G2, if I can get it's source code, can I build Android 11 Rom for it? or am I missing something here?
I own Realme 5 Pro now, if I build Android 11 and flash it, is there any chance it could hard brick my device?
If I'd built Android 11 for R5 Pro, how would I know it's for my device? can I flash that firmware on another device? or vice versa? I know that flashing other device firmware can hard brick your device.
What are the chances of getting bugs after flashing? like ril not working, or maybe settings wont open, camera wont work etc. and how can I fix them for my specific device?
How can I ensure that the specific build only works for R5 Pro and not other device? like do I have to sign it with specific code or anything like that? any idea?
Not so important questions:(You can answer it if u know)
How much download is necessary to build from source? If u have built, is there any specific download size or different for specific devices?
Also if I want to build TWRP recovery for R5 Pro from scratch how would I go about doing that? and what about giving it a different theme style?
How long will it take for my specs pc to build? any estimated idea? (specs: 16gb ddr4 3600mhz ram, Ryzen R5 3700x, Nvidia 2060 Super, and lots of space)
Can I build this Rom to be flashed via recovery or is it has to be fastboot specific?
Can I build Android Kitkat or something old for newer devices?
So these are the initial questions that comes to my mind, I am posting this thread on some diff forums too, if u have any experience regarding this please do share, any help is appreciated, Thank you.
