Hi,
I noticed an abnormal process in the battery usage list.
The name is "-5" and its icon is an android robot.
I can't understand which application is causing it.
I've uninstalled all the applications I don't use, but the problem remains.
The phone gets very hot all day, especially when it's charging.
I am attaching some screenshots...
Can someone help me? thanks.
This mysterious "-5" application is ...WiFi hotspot!

Really???
I've been using the hotspot 24/7 in recent months because I don't have internet at home.
I know the hotspot uses a lot of battery, but I didn't imagine it was indicated with such a strange name.
If so, I'm fine. Thanks.

Download Spare Parts
Hello
I had a similar problem a while back and found that it was actually YMail app uploading a video that was bigger than the 25mb limit. Thought I had cancelled it properly but it basically uploaded 1gb in the space of 4 hours and thus used all my data allowance.
So, on to the fix.
Download Spare Parts.
Open, Click Battery History. Click arrow at side of top option bar (Think it says CPU usage), Click Network Usage, The culprit should then be at the top of the list.
If it is an app doing it then I am sure a quick uninstall then re-install of the cheeky app should sort you out.
Good luck.
Thanks man, I will try that right away. I will let you know the end result
No problem, really hope it helped.
Hello everyone,
I own a Nexus 4 and I have just gave a try to AutomateIt (FREE) app and everything went ok. I like it, it's really powerful and easy to use. So I decided I need AND/OR logic to link multiple triggers, but that requires the full version (PRO) so I installed the full version. The main problem with it is while in background/foreground, it sucks the whole internet in less the few hours. I don't know what it downloads but the network usage is about 100MB in less than a day, no matter if it is in background or foreground.
Is there anyone who found a reason/solution for a similar issue?
I know, the solution would be to restrict background data. Still, on WiFi will drain my battery and network usage keeps high itself.
Thanks.
I have the exact same problem! For now I disabled background data. Before that it drained battery big time.

Hi,
Are you sur that's a legal pro version ?
Put a firewall and do not allow AutomateIt to access the internet. It does not need internet access to work, unless you really want to download any of the "ready" solutions. I use Android Firewall: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jtschohl.androidfirewall
Cheers!
Hi everyone,
These days the battery consumption of "Android OS" process has been quite high. Last days it has been around 30-40%, but today, it reaches the awesome figures of 70%.
I have francokernel-r32 (last one) which everyone reports it's a battery friendly kernel. Obviously I notice no difference between francokernel and stock because of the Android OS battery drain. Also I have the CM11s-R44 stock.
Other little details: I use Greenify, cleanmaster and Amplify to save battery and system resources. Localization is fully turned off (I don't need it) and using 2G and WiFi networks (I use 3G just for few minutes/seconds to download or surf the web).
The xposed modules I have installed: amplify, bootmanager, complete action plus, greenify, whatsapp quiet hours and youtube adaway. I think none of these can be suspicious of battery drain.
Any suggest? I have no idea on facing this problem...
Thanks so much :good:
Edit: pictures are in spanish, but I think it's easily understandable (just the figures of Android OS process say everything).
Firstly, you say 'also I have CM11S-r44 stock', but you're not stock if you have Franco installed. Anyway, it could be Google Play Services that's causing the problems, have you tried this?

have you read the thread on r32 its been giving people some issues. May I suggest r31 and as previously mentioned are you running Google Now. I mean the the drain you see could be warranted. Also what the Keep Awake showing you? How bad is that

I'm going to piggy back off this thread. Android OS and Android System are killing my battery as well. I've turned off the Google Location Services keep awake and wake up (etc...as per Timmaa's thread), and I'm still getting a very large keep awake from Android System. Please see the attached screenshot.
Nothing else has been edited. I'm on 44R stock rooted.

I'm not really sure actually. I'm connected to WIFI around 80% of a given day so my guess would be yes.
Do you know of something that could be causing the drain, or is that just what happens when you're connected to WIFI?

I have this issue from time to time when connected to my home Wifi. You could try by turning off Wifi for some time.
Rebooting the Wifi AP or changeing channel helps for me in that case.
Is it a hidden network?
Nope it'd a public password protected network.
Hi. G920i here. Quite long ago, my battery has been draining alot faster than when I first used it. I've been finding this wakelock called connectivity service and I don't know how to get rid of it other than turning on mobile data. But I don't want to because it uses battery and some apps have background data usage which I don't want. Here are some stats. Any abnormalities and how can I fix them? Also some other stats that I'm not sure what are. Please point them out to me if you can.

^^^It's an album of my screenshots.
P.S. I know it shows my phone on Airplane Mode. I have already tried it without Airplane Mode but with mobile data off and it still shows that!

Hello XDA fellas,
I am facing a weird battery drain issue with my Poco f2 pro.
Since a few days the battery seems to get drained by a process named "mdnsd".
The standby drain is so atrociously bad that it loses two digits of percentage over the course of 5-10 hours.
Restarting the device didn't help. I'm on Miui global 12.0.2 (QJKEUXM). Unrooted and I didn't mess with anything nor did I install any significant amount of apps.
The device is also currently used without any sim-card until my OP6 is sold.
Any advice to remedy this issue?
Google is your friend (in this case):

Short summary, mdnsd is the default DNS service on your phone, some app is overloading this service with requests.
Google for "android process mdnsd" for more

Thanks for the fast reply. Indeed I should have googled first, my bad :cyclops:
I will check my apps and try to find out which is causing this.
Other than that I noticed some elevated standby drainage also before the "mdnsd" issue.
Subjectively, compared to my previous phone, the poco f2 pro seems to drain more juice while in standby-mode.
