Bootanimations are located in
/system/media/bootanimation.zip
or
/data/local
On most devices it will be the first location, but one devices with smaller ROM sizes, like prev gen phones, it will be in the local folder instead. Bootanimations are contained in zip file bootanimation.zip, you can use a file manager with root access like root explorer and change the animation with a new one.

GPE Bootanimation

Google bootanimation from GPE devices. Not my work, I only found it on the interwebz, worked on my Moto X so I thought I'd share.
Yes, you need root.
Get it HERE
Go to /system/media
Mount R/W
Rename current bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.bak (or something like that)
Move new bootanimation.zip to /system/media
Change permissions of new bootanimation.zip to rw-r-r
Mount to R/O
Reboot
Profit

That's a custom made "Moto X" version of the GPE bootanimation. Not the actual GPE bootanimation.

[BOOTLOGO] Early Christmas with Homer Simpson

Haven't seen very many bootlogos here so I thought I'd share one I created.
Just flash it through recovery.
Download:
Mega
Edit: There's also a ton of custom Bootlogo's and bootanimations in the Moto G forum. Both the 2013 moto G and X have the same resolutions so they all work just perfectly on either device.

I've got a flashable Custom Bootanimation that i posted yesterday here:,
If you don't have custom recovery, or want to do it manually: extract the .zip file and go to system>media and copy the bootanimation.zip file to your phone and then use root explorer to move it to system>media. Then change the permissions to rw-r-r.
That's probably not a very good epxlanation, so here's a guide with pictures that explains it really well
I'll add more custom bootaniomations the next few days in the thread as I create them so keep checking back
Is this working without unlocked phone and root?

Sadly no, there's no way that I know of moving the files to the system file on the phone without root or a custom recovery.

I was able to fix this using this steps
1.Erase all ogg files
2.I flash a zip filename called 5 . sounds.zip that I found on this website
3.reboot
4.Now I see new ogg files and these new files I am able to use your procedure as you describe on your thread
I don't know why but it works, the Es flash sounds I can rename them and even delete them the originals ones I was able only to move them.
