You can't modify the system, vendor, or product partitions on Android 10+, also Titanium Backup is legacy and doesn't really work well with magisk or any modern system. If you need to debloat apps, I'd recommend using the terminal debloater magisk module.

I didn't know TB was considered legacy now. What does everyone use to backup apps and apks?

I use Swift Backup. It's pretty damn good and is also able to backup apps which require SSAIDs (device id) like google authenticator and similar stuffs.

I tried the debloat module of magisk. I have the impression that it deactivates them but not uninstalls them.
As soon as I remove the module debloat all the applications that I had uninstalled reappeared.

Well yea. Magisk modules are systemless.
On Android 10 you can't directly modify the system, vendor or product partitions. Magisk is the only way to do it.

Exchange security bypass!

As far as I know this only works on the rooted AT&T version and that's because I didn't create it and that's the only version I've tested it on.
If you download this:
http://d-h.st/z9O
And remove the two apks for email and exchange....
Then I booted into recovery mode and deleted both the existing email.apk and exchange.apk as well as the odex files
After that, I copy and pasted the apks from the zip into the app folder and rebooted the phone again.
Voila!
It didn't work perfect the first time and I got a bunch of force closes. After doing it again I didn't get any so if it works for you you shouldn't have any force closes.
For what it's worth I don't take credit for the zip and I don't take responsibility for If anything bad happens to your device..
I would recommend making a backup of the existing apks in case anything goes wrong.

Personally, I just used the xposed module to bypass exchange security. i would rather not have to replace APKs if possible.

Install Xposed and go to the modules tab and install "Exchange Bypass." Add your exchage account AFTER you install and enable the module and the security is gone.

[Guide] How to enable Google Assistant on your Nexus 5X

GO to this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/guide-how-to-enable-google-assistant-t3477879
All thanks to him!
Works on any 7.0+ ROM with Google App version 6.5+
Just remember to clear data from your Google app after you make your build prop edits. Reboot and then you'll see Google Assistant
I'm not responsible if your phone blows up blah blah blah...

Like i asked in the other thread, have you tried reverting the build prop to see what happens? I wonder if it would stick or revert back to the old Google settings.
[edit] I'm going to give a crack out of using Magisk, I'm running Pure Nexus so i will report back.
Try it and bootloop..

can confirm working, (using October update on a 5x) and 6.5.35 use the zips and flash them like instructed in the video the manual first method doesn't work
Reverting back from Pixel to Nexus 5X im build.prop works just till the reboot. Then it can work just for one shot or two if lucky after having reboot done. Then it does not. At least on mine. Had to move from Czech to English anyway.

You can read up on magisk here
Basically magisk allows you to modify /system without actually modifying /system.
My mod just adds the two properties
Code:
ro.product.model=Pixel
ro.opa.eligible_device=true
to your build.prop to enable Google Assistant.
Has Google assistant stuck on for anyone else after a few reboots?
I decided to revert the ro.device line back to Nexus 5X and it's still there!? how cool!?!
Nice. I only have one issue. Google assisted always wants to relearn my voice. For that reason i am not able to use the OK Google command.

OK sweet. One theme in particular in its description says to delete vendor/overlays folder before applying. Is this necessary? Or will hitting the restore stock theme in substratum app before applying a new theme be sufficient? (Do we even need to do that?)

Probably should not buy a Google phone lol
Delete the apks in the system/app & system/priv-app folders and replace with aosp apps. Set permissions of courses. That's where I would start. An Aosp app installer should do that for you. Maybe compile a ROM from AOSP source?

I actually it's the opposite. Google makes AOSP and their phones will certainly run AOSP. Google create a custom pixel experience on the phone so I would ditch the stock ROM and build AOSP. Please correct me if I'm wrong I actually have never done it myself, but I have flashed many of ROM built from AOSP using the default AOSP system apps. But I found pure AOSP to be pretty bare-bones so I don't know overall if I would like that over what I'm getting from pixel ROM
Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
Extract an AOSP ROM and grab all the apk's from it and copy to the same locations in your phone.
Then use Titanium Backup to remove the previous system apps.
Do a backup first though of course because you're sure to run into at least a couple speed bumps.
does this require root?

You need root to access the system level apps and titanium backup is a root app as well.
You can remove the system apps via adb without root.

Deleting some system apps does not change to AOSP.
I think it would not be a good idea to delete all google apps !
If you want AOSP you need to build it by yourself.
Or wait until someone else does.
You have to be careful what you delete.
As a word of warning, uninstalling system applications can be very dangerous so please know what you’re getting rid of before you complete these steps. Failing to do so could result in your phone becoming unusable until you perform a factory reset. Of course, by removing any given system application, another system application that may depend on it may also break so be careful what you remove. But if something does go wrong, you can always perform a factory reset to bring things back to the way they were. Which is something else you should know – these uninstalled system applications can/will come back after a factory reset.

I think if you want a pure AOSP experience, the best path is to install an AOSP project treble GSI.

no you cant remove them, they just become 'invisible' to your user profile on the phone
they are still there however.
something like
pm uninstall --user 0 com.google.android.apkname
this doesnt uninstall the app, create another user on the phone and the same system app will be there.

Everything I removed via adb no longer has system folders, data folders and isn't showing up in Titanium Backup. Chrome, CellBroadcasts, Project Fi and a couple others I can remember is what I uninstalled via ADB and now that I'm rooted I've been able to look for remnants of the apps and I don't see anything.

banking app not opening

I am a obc m pay bank app user. Old version of the app works fine with magisk root (root hided using magisk hide) + ed exposed + xiaomi.eu rom. But today the app starts forces to update to latest version without updtaing it is not loging in. So i updated through play store. But now the app showing the error that due to security reasons the app cant start. and i am not able to access the obc m pay mobile banikng app. Tried disabling ed exposed but not working. So i think the app is detecting root and not starting in device. Whereas in other non rooted device it is working fine. I dont know is there any problem in magisk hide or something else. But the banking app is still detecting the root and not opening. May some one help to baypass this or something else?

Try clearing the data, cache if the banking app then hide it in Magisk Hide, now try again after rebooting, this worked once for me but hasn't worked ever since.
