Hey, please spare some time for me as I really want this to be fixed
I am using a Mini Pro running on Stock ROM and Kernal
It is rooted and has CWM 5.0.2.7-nAa
I recently downloaded Cyanogenmod 9.1 for my xperia mini pro (Sk17i) (Mango)
I went through the following steps to install it:
Did data/factory wipe
Wiped cache partition
Wiped Dalvik cache
Wiped battery stats
Then i proceeded to install .zip from sd card and so on until i located the .zip which was on my sd cards root directory
put it to install and i end up with this
--Installing: /sdcard/cm9.1.0-mango.zip
Finding update package
Opening update package
Installing update
assert failed: getprop ("ro.product.device") == "SK17i" | | getprop ("ro.build.product") == "SK17i" | | getprop ("ro.product.device") == "SK17a" | | getprop ("ro.build.product") == "SK17a" | | getprop ("ro.product.device") == "mango" | | getprop ("ro.build.product") == "mango"
E:Error in /sdcard/cm-9.1.0-mango.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
I want to know why i am getting this
I tried CM10 and 7 for my device and i get the same errors
Please give me instructions on what to do in the most simplest ways possible, you can give links to tutorials but i may find them hard because most seem complicated to me so please try and tell me in your own simple words what to do, I am a complete noob at this
I want to Install Cyanogenmods Rom so that i can install a firmware that makes the music volume more precise and makes the phone faster
I need all the help I can so please
Any additional info you want, just ask

Seems to me u probably have a device not "introducing" itself properly Or maybe it's build...
Maybe try the other way around and it right since the beginning.
Get yourself first:
- stock kernel & s/w rreinstalled (via PC Companion)
- since this is sk17i - unlock ur bootloader via official Sony way: http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/ (yet first watch the tutorial form Mihahn: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31376248#post31376248 )

-
- go in very details through here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1629334 and
1. download Kernel TFT (appropriate one) and flash it using flash tool (and guess what... here is picture guide by Mihahn: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1879982)
2. upload CM9-3 to sd card and try again with CWMRec/Flashtool mode install (depending whether u download .zip or .tft with ROM)

I am so sorry if I am bothering you or anything but I was going through the links, very handy and simple, and i came across this in the last link you have put about downlaoding a kernal .TFT
When reading through it says
Now you are ready to install a custom rom/kernel.
Let's start:
You go to development section and choose a rom you want for your device. You download the rom and the kernel for your device (make sure it is the right for yours! Sometimes the kernel is included in the installation zip file of the rom.
Now you have the boot.img and the rom
Click to collapse
Now where is the Development section?
Where do i find the Boot.img?
What is the proper one for my sk17i?
I have downloaded CM9.1 for Mango from the cm official website and there is a boot.img inside the zip, should i just extract the boot.img out and keep it near the .zip file? and should i use this instead of the mini cm provided?
I really appreciate the links you have given and hope all my doubts can be cleared for me to actually start the process
Will hit that thanks button if it is a success :good:

S/W = Software.
To install stock software, even if ur phone is in bootloop, u may use PC Companion.
1. Start mobile in Flash mode (BACK/VOL+/- pressed when phone turned off and connecting usb cable + PC Companion enabled)
2. Agree on loosing all data Choose model (be careful -u20 and sk17i and sk17a are all mini pro, use hardware version marking)
3. allow it to work - it will download stock software for ur mini pro
Effect: unroot stock phone. U can root it again with FlashTool or one of root methods (for sk17i I believe so called zergRush does the job - search forums or gogole it )
Afterwards proceed with instructions for
1. Rooting
2. Unlocking bootloader
3. Reflashing phone with custom kernel and custom ROM
BE ADVISED: Above "root/unlock bootloader" actions usually void ur warranty. Be sure what u r doing, read thoroughly steps to not brick ur phone and do not be scared if bootloop happens - just find a way to enter flash mode again and use other .tft/ROM
OR - if u have already unlocked bootloader - simply download appropriate .tft file and flash it on ur phone using FlashTool. (the so called generic sk17i ROM has been provided in .tft format here: http://rumah-android.com/official-xperia-mini-pro-sk17i-4-1-b-0-431-firmware-ics-4-0-4.html)
U mighgt want to see through some of posts here to reduce ur noobishness http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=471521
And use custom kernels/stock roms known for their stability in latest release/nigh release (search for xda forum threads).

Alright, thanks alot
Will get to it
I cant just plug my phone in and use the repair option from support zone?
It says that will erase all internal memory by replacing the software
So should I use that method?
And yeah, ive experience bootloop before so im fine and know what to do
And after all this is done and i get everything tis fine to restore my apps and studd using titanium right?

Development Section is a section of XDA forum, where crazy programmers deliver their kernels and ROMS...
This link is in Development Section, I believe the CM u r looking for:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1629334
Be advised - above CM requires custom kernel sk17i, it says it in Requirements in above link -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25550442
If u succeed to unlock bootloader, it gets pretty simple, simpler than in Mihahn guide.
1. Given u have bootloader unlocked: using FlashTool u flash kernel (the .tft file) - thus u won't have to care about separate boot.img / .sin files flashing, they are incorporated in .tft thing.
2, If it suceeds - using flashtool u reset to recovery
3. USING CWM options - u mount ur USB storage
4. U put from ur PC zip with CM9
5. Unmount USB storage
6. Wipe all data as it says in ROM thread - otherwise u risk **** to hit the fan
7. Update from .zip, point to zip on sdcard
8.Relax
9. Get cofee
10. Relax
11. Watch it progress
12. Relax
13. Pray for best
14. After it finishes - reboot to normal. Be advised - first reboot after flashing ROM is always long, linux + ROM does automagic stuff
Short who's who:
kernel; linux kernel, da animal that is engine of subsequent android devices (i.e. kernel with Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Beans Adnroid releases) U NEED CAREFULLY CHOOSE THE ONE APPRIOPRIATE FOR UR DEVICE
ROM - closest to operating system u get on mobile devices, u might have different ROMs wortking on specific kernel
CWM - clockworkmode recovery - ur last resort if **** hits the fan to change ROM without reflashing kernel
I hope I got this as simple as I could... Sorry, I was former mobile s/w developer, such stuff is just usual for me, my stock u20i software didn't last 24h - I just immediately reflashed it co CM6, later to CM7 - just to have some options not available in stock rom connected to power management and application management.
EDIT: Combining answers

Yes.
Generic ROM / Repair options brings u back to stock sk17i SE ROM. I dont remeber if repair option uploaded latest update, if yes - u might still have to use generic sk17i tft thing.
With restoring option - to be honest I didn't test it. It didn't worked well for me on CM6 and CM7 upgrade, yet possibly I did not all the things right. Still, if u have backed up apps and data on sdcard, it might be possible - please check it before reflashing ROMS (just root, install latest titanium backup and simply test the stuff).
Good luck on ur journey to reflash...

U can choose any CyanogenMod marked as suitable for ur phone (xperia mini pro, sk17i), yet
- PAY ATTENTION TO REQUIREMENTS: rooting, unlocking bootloader, which kernel version etc.
- READ SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE EXECUTING! Very important... developer put most important informations in posts, yet specific issuies are reproted and solved as froum thread goes by
Step 1 is done
Okay, I have Restored the phone to factory using SUS
But check this link out and see if i can flash this CM instead

HELP
I have flashed the kernal to a xperia arc kernal (TO downgrade for rooting)
I start up doomlords rooter thingy
And once i press anykey its on this
daemon not running. Start it now
daemon started successfully
And its just there
Ive used this program to root before and it worked
Btw after installing the neo kernal the phone doesnt restart, only on black scree, ive gotten that before but it had rooted successfully before
Please help me out :/
what are you doing?
if you want cm10, you don't need to root you phone, just simply flashing the rom will give you root
also flashing a kernel not meant for your device will obviosely create problems
instead try flashing this kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2076764
and this rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1780326
Sorry for the inconvinience
Alright then, sorry for my stupidity, i realized the phone had to be connected in MSC
*Facepalm*
Rooting done, going to now flash it back
Wish me luck :fingers-crossed:
Thanks alot

If I ever meet you in real life, i would give you a hug
I dont know how to thank you!
It worked, i followed the original instructions which are quoted above ^ and it worked
I used a .img file to flash using flashtool and then flashed using CWM6 which came with the kernal
In the startup process
One thing that is a bummer is the slide out keyboards symbols which are printed on my phone do not match the ones which came with CM9
Meaning, on letter 'M' there is the symbol "%" in blue, so when i press the function button on the keyboard i end up with another Symbol when pressing "M", any way to fix it??
And one more thing
I have CM9, is it recommended to install CM10 nightly or should i wait for a stable release?
And if CM10 was good to install what steps should I use to install it?
Should i just place the .zip in the root of sd, then bootup in CWM and then install zip from sdcard?
Or i use the method you gave above?
Or I just boot in CWM and clear data and install from SD?
Hoping for a reply, and thanks alot!

yep any cm10 kernel would work, however the fxp one does not have the best battery life or the best performance but it is the most stable
Hi HTC Desire S Android experts,
Having been a member on here for years, this is my first post.
Let me start by saying that I'm not an Android expert although I've been four decades in Unix (Solaris) and Linux. I've built kernels from scratch but never tried to build an Android kernel. Anyway that hopefully gives you all a clue as to what I understand and what I don't understand.
I thought that I would try to install CM13 on my HTC Desire S but it doesn't want to play!!!
Having already done some serious hacking my starting point now is this.........
I have unlocked the bootloader.
I've installed Revolutionary S-Off, HBOOT 6.98.1002, Mar 10 2011
I've installed TWRP v2.8.7.0
I've tried to install CM13 (Marshmallow) "sagaopt" but it errors. I've tried to follow the repartitioning instructions (which I don't find very clear) to change filesystem to EXT4. After wiping is says that my SDcard should be empty but it isn't; the files are still there so I'm getting something wrong.
(I have managed to install CM12 for Saga (NOT the Sagaopt version) and it boots. I had trouble getting the virtual keyboard to work but eventually it did. I can't seem to get any Gapps zip to install, the install won't complete.)
Anyway, back to the subject of CM13 which is "sagaopt" only, can anyone give me the steps to take, especially with regards to partitioning, wiping, etc? Also, if I succeed with it, what next? Do I need to install Xposed? What Gapps zip file do I install and where can I get a compatible version for CM13 Sagaopt?
Thx in advance,
Hicksd8

Thx in advance,
Hicksd8

You need the recovery from here to flash sagaopt roms IIRC.

Yes, that is the instructions I have been using and experiencing trouble with. I'll try it again.
Please give information how you solved difficulties. I'll probably try similar things soon. Thank you in advance

Well I tried it again with no success.
Can someone confirm for me that the ONLY difference between Saga and Sagaopt ROMs is the prerequisite partitioning and filesystem types required? ie, convert filesystems and SDcard filesystem to EXT4.
Trying to install CM13 Sagaopt complains something like "unable to execute the binary updater in the zip file". Trying to install CM12.1 Sagaopt gives exactly the same error so I guess the prerequisites are not right.
My phones are standard HTC Desire S and I assume that's okay?
I downloaded the ROMs from the Open Desire site after selecting device Desire S.
So still scratching my head on this one.
here my desire s runs now cm12.1

the sagaopt rom uses the complete internal memory for the system (for a stable rom use latest CM12.1 nightly CM13 has ram and bluetooth issues)
Preparing and updating
(Optional but useful) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1679338 for new S-OFF HBOOT
(Optional but useful) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1858508 for new RADIO and Firmware (only B the rest is for a better stock 4.0.4 android)
Installing
1.Flash TWRP 2.8.7.0
2.Format SDcard ext4
3.Flash TWRP 2.8.7.1 sagaopt
4.boot recovery
5.use "adb push your-system-sagaopt.zip /sdcard/"
6.Flash it with TWRP
7.(Optional) download GAPPS pico copy it do "internal storage" and install it with TWRP
@Layer_DE...........thank you for that. Certainly upgrading to TWRP v2.8.7.1 is key.
I flashed recovery file "TWRP-recovery-sagaopt-2.8.7.1.img" and the "error executing binary updater in zip" is gone.
Yes, I'm having some issues with CM13 so will try your suggestion of CM12.1
Many thanks. I'll post back with any further issues.
@Layer_DE.......I've flashed CM12.1 and it boots. Can you tell me which gapps file you flashed please? I'm finding that whatever gapps file I flash I seem to lose the virtual keyboard function. Using just CM12.1 the virtual keyboard works fine. I'd like to get the Play Store functioning correctly and its icon on my home screen. Thanks.
opengapps.org
ARM 5.1 pico
it works fine BUT for the first app you download you need more than a hour and every appinstallation takes very long
I'll give that a go. Thanks.

Hi All,
Just thought I'd give an update on this one........
I flashed TWRP 2.8.7.1 recovery and used it to set all filesystems to type ext4.
Then installed CM12.1 no problem.
Then installed opengapps 5.1 pico as suggested. No problem.
All working fine with that. In fact extremely good. No problem installing/uninstalling apps at all.
Still can't get CM13 (Marshmallow) to work. It will install but on reboot doesn't behave.

Hi all -
Stumbled across this Thread, only to discover the AMAZING things still being done to these ol’ HTC Battle-Axes.
My interest stems from one of these devices recently being discovered as ’tucked away’ in a draw somewhere for a rainy day, and long forgotten by my Mother.
I don’t have any prior exposure to any form of Android - ( primarily due to my hate of any/everything Google. )
However, I’m now looking to break this arrogance of mine, with this otherwise un-used and forgotten lil’ HTC.
I am particularly impressed that you guys have managed to get this beast to dance - apparently without any major issues on Lollipop/Android v5.1 - via the installation of CyanogenMod 12.1.
Looking at your list of ingredients;
Installing
1.Flash TWRP 2.8.7.0
2.Format SDcard ext4
3.Flash TWRP 2.8.7.1 sagaopt
4.boot recovery
5.use "adb push your-system-sagaopt.zip /sdcard/"
6.Flash it with TWRP
7.(Optional) download GAPPS pico copy it do "internal storage" and install it with TWRP
...all seems pretty straightforward.
( Well, straightforward enough - for me to be able to hunt around for explanations regarding what each step actually means! )
Being the ultraN00b I am, I’m curious as to how this set of instructions compares to say what the ‘official’ CyanogenMod position is;
wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Saga_Info
wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Known_Issues_page_for_saga
- Can any of you compare the ‘official’ CyanogenMod position, ( and specifically why they stop short at Gingerbread/Android v2.3.7 - via the installation of CyanogenMod 7.2 ), with what is suggested here?
- Are there any shortcomings that any of you have experienced running Lollipop/Android v5.1 , on this platform?
- How has the installation of Lollipop pulled up regarding stability? Any ‘glitches’ or ‘gremlins’ yet?
Nevertheless, I’m beyond impressed, and now pretty keen and excited to embark on my very first Android-expedition.
Thanks in advance for your responses -

the CM12.1 is very stable and only has typical android bugs (found no device specific things) and the official cm people hasn't used the kernel 3.0 source of the desire from android 4.0
for istallation:
1. download adb from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790

3.1 turn off fastboot in battery settings
3.2 power don phone
3.3 boot phone with vol down clicked and if its -REVOLUTIONARY- or if its 0.98.x s-off or 2.0X s-off go to 6
if its 0.98 s-on you go to 5
if its 2.02 ask anyone else on my desires with 2.02 s-off newer worked for me but you can try it (go to 4) or only unlock it
http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader select HTC Desire HD and dont upgrade anything (start at step 1 skip preparation) after that go to 8
4.download the oldest rom with you branding from http://androidruu.com/?developer=Saga

Hi there,
I managed to succesfully install CM13 on my girlfriends old HTC Desire S, but it's slow as hell and she keeps complaining (after refusing a more modern phone because of the bigger screens and her small hands...).
Now I'm looking for the old CM10.1 which ran fine on my old original Desire, but all the links I find are way outdated and down. Does anyone still have it?
Regards,
Markus

Try CM11 it runns very smooth and is fine (older than 4.4 isnt 100% supported by app developers)
I installed CM13 as well on my Desire S - at first it was really slow. Until I bought a faster SD card as I saw that the internal memory was emulated on the SD card. Therefore I tried it with a U3 speed SD card - now it is workable - I am happy to have cm13 installed
@schneert
What's the size of your SD Card? What do you mean by 'workable'?
@zurpher: I bought a 32Gb SD Card., therefore I have 32GB stated as internal memory. It is workable in that sense that it is fast enough to use it without very much slow issues. It is still not fast but I guess that is because of the RAM of the device.
Hello A7600-F Tablet owners, It's been awhile since there has been an updated ROM for this tablet. I have released ported ROMs for this tablet before, however they all had some annoying bugs and many of you reported issues with corrupted SD card partitions. The goal of this ROM is to provide as close to daily driver material for this old tablet as possible.
What better ROM than Resurrection Remix to do the job! :good:
Instructions:
Follow carefully! This process involves going back to STOCK firmware FIRST! This is to ensure your Internal storage gets properly formatted.
SAVE YOUR PERSONAL DATA! (Some where other than your tablet) You will lose it when flashing stock firmware. Don't worry about the struggles of getting ROOT on stock firmware, I have expedited the process greatly.
STEP 1: Get back to stock firmware. THIS STEP ERASES EVERYTHING, so save your data!!! Don't skip this step.
- Get any stock firmware file from here and follow the tutorial also in this link!
- The SP-Flash tool and drivers are all conveniently included with the firmware download.- Don't worry about taking the battery out when the tutorial says to.- If you have issues with the driver provided in the download, try these. (Run dpinst.exe) - Once completed boot into the new firmware just to ensure that you were successful. (Don't worry about going through initial setup we don't need it)
STEP 2: Install TWRP without root. You should now have a stock A7600-F Tablet, lets put TWRP back on.
- We will install TWRP with the same SP-Flash tool so that root is not required.
- Download the SP-Flashable TWRP image and scatter file from here.
- Follow the instructions in the tutorial linked in step 1 again but use the extracted TWRP scatter file you just downloaded instead of the stock firmware scatter file.
- You should only see "RECOVERY" listed in SP Flash Tool instead of all the stock partitions like last time - Once complete unplug the USB and use Vol-UP and Power buttons to get into TWRP
STEP 3: Wiping Instructions. THIS IS IMPORTANT! You should have TWRP installed and running at this point.
- DO NOT WIPE INTERNAL STORAGE! Doing so will cause the Corrupt SD-Card errors!
- Just don't do it! There is never any need to wipe internal storage on most devices.
- Go to Wipe -> Advanced Wipe
- Select only: Dalvik/Art Cache, System, Cache, and Data
- Wipe it.
STEP 4: Installing RR 7.1.2. You should now have an A7600-F with the stock partitions restored, and no ROM installed, sitting in the TWRP main menu.
- ROM Download: here
- GAPPS Download: here (Select Arm, 7.1, and whatever size you want)
- Now simply flash the ROM ZIP followed by the Gapps ZIP.
Reboot and Enjoy!
Things I improved over previous ROM PORTS:
- Better Audio quality
- Smoother Substratum OMS Support
- Camera Fixes
- FM Radio (Headphones only)
Kernel Source: here
Just yesterday I've dusted off this tablet, and so I was browsing the forums to see what rom I can put inside, and lickily, about the same time this thread was created! Installing it right now, gonna post a follow-up once I'm finished tinkering with it.
OK, firstly wanna thank you for this awesome rom, it's stable and fast, no major issue with it. What I did find, however, is that the camera flash is not working along with the night mode which is not turning on. Besides those two issues, everything seems to be in working order
Cheers!

Thanks for the report.
Camera flash? My A7600 Does not have a flash. No actual LED to produce a flash.
As for the Night mode, I have ported a lot of ROMS to this device and I havn't ever seen the night mode work right. If I even do get it to turn on, it lags the whole device.

Haha, I've turned the damn thing over, looked at the sensor, and you're right. Havent actually used this device previously to know about it, so glad we have that one sorted out!
Thanks SaberShip. The ROM works great for general use and apps but I'm having an issue downloading files. It says SD card not found Download to default folder. I attempt to download to Downloads folder where it says I have 10.43gb stroage available but it keeps telling me SD card not found. I don't use an SD card for storage on the device. Do I need to use one or can you offer any other advice? I've carefully gone through above installation steps 3 times.

So I put in an sd card and I then had option to save to downloads or sd. I still could not select downloads but I could select sd card which is worrying for me now. Thanks again Sabership. Nice work

What app are you using? I have not seen any issues with downloading yet. If you see 10.43Gb it sounds like your internal storage is formatted correctly. I haven't seen any download issues with Firefox and ES-File Explorer.

Main post updated with signed drivers. Please try it now.
Thank you @SaberShip!
The installation of Resurrection Remix 5.8.5 was successful after installing the signed Android USB driver!. System is stable and fast. Thank you again.
App issues:
1. Netflix app (not available on playstore, but at netflix web site) works online, but does not allow video downloads.
Netflix diagnostic error for download is OF.NA.4 -which probably means device does not meet security requirements. ? any workarounds?
// Amazon Prime video works, with offline video downloads as well. Google chrome works. Tried other apps as well.
Documentation issues (minor):
1. "- GAPPS Download: here (Select Arm, 7.1, and whatever size you want)" --> Google Apps Super package did not install since the device ran out of space (error 70). Google Apps "Nano" worked.
System issues:
1. Wifi still does not auto-reconnect after Wireless Access Point is rebooted, but given that this has happened with different ROMs I am concluding it is due to a hardware issue with this device (and not ROM specific).
// Skype camera issue fixed. Camera image is NO longer upside down.

Netflix app not working on ROM due to Widevine DRM
Great job on the ROM!! - it is fast and stable.
I have been investigating why the <latest> Netflix app with offline download capability does not work with Resurrection Remix 5.85 ROM.
I found that some other ROM has similar problem, and it was caused because Widevine DRM was not supported. Netfix (latest app and offline download) started working after Widevine DRM support was added to that ROM.
Is it possible to support Widevine DRM in this ROM?
Here is the quote from another ROM:

I think it's connected to the files in the screenshot below, but I didn't manage to find a solution. I believe it must be implemented by someone directly in the rom code (I'm absolutely not an expert). I'm also sure it's not connected with root or anything else (the Netflix app is available in the play store for me).

SaberShip, thank you for all your work and caring about the A7600-F! Your instructions are clean and elegant. It's great to be able to install your ROM without root. It looks and performs great.
I installed your ROM a week ago. Unfortunately, I've spent much time since then trying to get NordVPN to work. It worked fine on the stock version of my tablet. Now, it connects to NordVPN servers, but fails to adopt the remote IP address (whatismyv6.com reports my ISP IP).
I've exhausted [email protected] I'd be grateful for any pointers you might have.
Hello,
so i will thank Sabership, too, for his new build. I went the way as most builds are normally flashed - reboot from AIM build into TWRP, did a factory reset, and flashed RR and a new GApps build. Everything went fine, i am just typing on it. The bug with WiFi not connecting automatically i am hoping will be gone, it was the only bug i found in AIM for me.
One question: the security patch date is of November 2017. Will there be an update (as asked in AIM, too)?
Regards

I believe VPN connectivity may have been one of the issues with the original ROM even before I ported it to the A7600F. Therefore, there isn't much I can do unfortunately.
If you absolutely need VPN, your options are to use Stock ROM or find a different ROM that has VPN working. Another possible workaround is to setup NordVPN on your router or whatever gateway is between you and the internet: https://support.nordvpn.com/Connectivity/Router/1047409322/Setting-up-a-router-with-NordVPN.htm

I have witnessed wifi disconnection issues on every ROM I've ever ported/used for this device aside from Stock I wish there was more that I could do. As mentioned in the title and before, this ROM is ported from another device. What this means is that I don't have the source code and therefore cannot update things like Android security patch dates. If this were a ROM built from source, I would simply have to sync with updated RR sources to get the new patches and RR bugfixes/features. To do it with a port, I need to find a whole new ROM with the updated sources and then port the whole ROM over to this device again. That is just too much work.
As a side note, I had intended this to be the last ROM I ported for this device due to its age, however If there is enough demand and I can find one, maybe someday I will port a more updated Oreo ROM to this device. Good quality MT6582 Oreo ROMs built from source are still not really common.

Thanks for your answer. If only i could do something like that of my own... i have so much interests, i don't know if i could learn that in a usefull time!
By the way, why did you call it "old"? i'm using the Galaxy S2 build 2011, with LineageOS 16. I think this is an old device , like my Galaxy Tab 1 and 2.
But anyway, thanks for your work. After some time i'll write again about issues i found, if it will be helpful.
Regards
Thank you, SaberShip. It's been on my list to get a DD-WRT enabled router, so maybe now's the time.
I've had no problems with WiFi.
If you build an updated Oreo ROM, I volunteer to test it. I'm fond of my A7600-F.

- The SP-Flash tool and drivers are all conveniently included with the firmware download.
- Don't worry about taking the battery out when the tutorial says to.
- If you have issues with the driver provided in the download, try these. (Run dpinst.exe)
- Once completed boot into the new firmware just to ensure that you were successful.
- You should only see "RECOVERY" listed in SP Flash Tool instead of all the stock partitions like last time
- Once complete unplug the USB and use Vol-UP and Power buttons to get into TWRP

Just tested, It works perfectly with my USB wireless Keyboard and mouse combo.
When I tried a USB flash drive it did not mount automatically, however "SDA" does appear in the /dev/block/ directory so you can likely mount the flash storage manually with some terminal commands. YMMV
USB OTG works with both my wired and wireless trackballs (Logitech).
I mount/unmount flash drives with StickMount and explore them with Total Commander.
excellent. Works very well
Now that the Umidigi One Max has TWRP, it is now very easy to flash GSI ROMs.
I will try to keep track of different GSI that works (or not !) here, alongside with bugs. Testers are welcome !
I highly recommend GSI based off phhhuson's work, as he did great job to fix MTK issues. Some other GSI may work better. We definitely need testing !
10
Apparently it works as shown here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80319007&postcount=13 credits to @4ctiv_
9.0 Pie
phhusson's AOSP :
Everything works as expected. Notification bar is of the wrong size, may need to create a patch for it. Tethering doesn't work with data ON !
Camera is good ! All cameras are recognized. Fingerprint sensor OK. Torch not working under 15% like in stock, this seems like a hardware thing.
Ongoing calls and SMS will not work first boot. Just reboot and it'll work.
Magisk 19+ doesn't show root prompts. Fix here
Pixel Launcher crashes, but it seems that it's the only google app that doesn't work. Google Phone works.
NFC doesn't appear at all. There is a fix with magisk tho ! See here (NFC4PRA)
ctsProfile doesn't pass. Using MagiskHidePropsConfig fixes the issue, but choosing "vendor fingerprint" bootloops

8.1 Oreo
Testers needed
Do not hesitate to post what you find or your testing.
NOTE : Installing a GSI can be done via 3 methods : TWRP Image Flash, SP Flash Tool, or fastboot (needs unlocked bootloader)
For the first two methods, unlocked bootloader is not required ! TWRP can be flashed via SPFT aswell.
Enjoy your beautiful and modded phone
Make sure to check out my guide on installing GSIs at https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/umidigi-one-max-custom-rom-modding-t3942521/
I downloaded system-arm64-ab-gapps-su.xz, extracted the file, booted into TWRP, did a full wipe, and installed "image" system-arm64-ab-gapps-su.img. TWRP asks which partition to install it to. I selected "system". However, after install I go to reboot, and TWRP complains there is no OS. Am I missing something?
I did a complete backup in TWRP of all important partitions first (nvram, modem, system Etc.), so going back to my stock setup was not difficult. Those trying this, backup all important partitions from TWRP on to microsd!
For everyone, make sure you download AONLY images, not AB !

I posted this in another forum, but for the life of me I do not know what is causing this issue. I installed RR rom located here:
https://get.resurrectionremix.com/?dir=gsi/
system-190120-arm64-aonly-vanilla-nosu.img
I also install, Gapps (pico), and Magisk.
It runs great, for the most part. However, if I start streaming a video from any app or start streaming music, after a short amount of time my Umidigi One Max:
A.) Announces, "Powering Down"
B.) Boots directly into TWRP
C.) If I reboot, it again boots directly into recovery. Almost as if the partition became corrupted.
D.) Try to recover a backup I made in twrp, reboot, again boots straight into recovery.
E.) If SP Flash can communicate with the phone, I can usually push all the stock images back to the phone. If not, I have to push the images via fastboot with my Ubuntu PC.
If I do any other CPU intensive task under a GSI ROM, it doesn't have this issue, only when I stream video. I haven't tried any games to see if it causes this behavior.
I have tried multiple GSI Roms located here too, same problem:
https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/wiki/Generic-System-Image-(GSI)-list
I do not believe the device is overheating, it's usually around 32-34C from the TWRP menu at that point. I really like the RR Rom, but if I cannot figure out what is causing this, I'll have to stray away from GSI for now.
As a sidenote, this issue of the device suddenly powering down after starting to stream a video, does not happen with the stock ROM. I am kind of at a loss on this one.
Weirdest thing I have experienced running a custom ROM.
Yeah it happened to me sometimes as well... The phone goes straight into recovery and then never goes to system again. I haven't found the cause of it.
Did you try the NFC fix for the one pro (I got it from the umdigi forum one Pro and then the thread custom ROMs)
phhusson's AOSP is mostly good. But I noticed the wifi often gets disconnected and has performance issue too.

I don't get any performance issue. The only issues is that some ongoing calls doesn't come, and sometimes 4G totally glitches out. Other than that it's pretty much all.

I've tried flashing multiple android 10 GSIs from the phhusson GSI wiki list.
I've tried phhusson's AOSP ROM, CAOS, Lineage 17.1 and POSP. It seems like they all freeze at the splash screen and get stuck loading forever (confirmed, I left it on all night last night). I've tried disabling force encryption, I've tried not installing magisk. Not really sure where to go from here with Android 10.
I've also tried Android 9 with much more success: it boots, it works, but the only thing I can't seem to get is NFC. Has anyone found a way to get NFC to work on any android version with this device? Or do I have to go back to stock android 8?
Thanks!

I'm in the same boat bro. I've just tried both the latest phhusson AOSP 10 ROM as well as an older version of the same ROM, and both time I get caught in a loop after install. Completely wiped beforehand, tried installing with and without Magisk/Disable-Force-Encryption. Going to have to bring it back down to Android 9. I wonder how 4ctiv_ got it working?
so first you have to no encryption then erase and format data
flash android 10 arm 64 a without gapps build (image) to system i use havoc 3.5 and everything exept nfc works
then install gapps (it failed for me so i had to resize system in twrp and install gapps again
last step is to flash the custom phhson magisk
then just reboot wihout wipping
Thank you so much for your work...
Hi, I'm a long time Android user and I used to code apps, if I can be of any help please let me know but I'm now disabled wheel chair user with dystonia so I find it extremely difficult to type now so I use voice to text... I really enjoy using the umidigi one max it has the storage and usability of a much more expensive phone, also functionally for me the wireless charging and NFC make my life so much easier as I find cables akward and payments at shops much easier.
I read about the Treble programmea while ago and recently read this article and if it is possible to get the NFC working on this update, I will be so greatful as it will extend the life of this great phone for me.
Good luck with your work and thank you in advance.

OPPO's official website provides users with an official way to unlock bootloader.
coloros link:
https://bbs.coloros.net/graphic?id=1498611
you need to install the deeptest.apk to submit unlock request.
The application must meet all the following conditions:
1. The time to market must be more than 3 months;
2. No application record within 60 days;
3. The last consecutive login time of the OPPO account on this machine exceeds 60 days;
4. The number of in-depth test users has not reached the quota limit;
5. Non-government enterprises and operators customize mobile phones;
6. Support mobile phones listed in mainland China.
Unfortunately, there are currently no available quota. But if you want , you have to register an oppo account, and login time should more than 60 days.
So does this mean we can install custom rooms?
So... Hey guys,
I just wanted to let everyone know that I was actually able to flash the GSI from the link below on my OPPO Reno Ace:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble/trebleenabled-device-development/aosp-10-0-quack-phh-treble-t3992559
I am super new to all this, but I decided to take the risk anyways because I really wanted to get away from ColorOS. Luckily it worked out to the point that the phone seems functional so far (just flashed it as of writing this).
Disclaimer: Do this at your own risk! I am not responsible for what happens to your phone for following what I did. Please think twice before trying! Also remember to back-up your phone first!
Before I continue on how I got it to work, I got the Reno Ace Gundam edition. Not sure if that makes a difference but I thought this should be mentioned. Also since I couldn't find a version of TWRP for the Reno Ace; I followed the instructions on how to flash without it.
Here are all the main links I used:
Walkthrough for Deep Test app: https://forum.xda-developers.com/find-X/how-to/guide-how-to-apply-deep-testing-pafm00-t3888013
GSI: https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble/trebleenabled-device-development/aosp-10-0-quack-phh-treble-t3992559
Flashing Instructions and "vbmeta.img": https://www.xda-developers.com/flash-generic-system-image-project-treble-device/
Extra Links in case of weird trouble. Hopefully you won't need it:
Google Usb Driver: https://developer.android.com/studio/run/oem-usb#InstallingDriver
How to manually install Google USB Driver: https://visualgdb.com/KB/usbdebug-manual/
Useful Key Word: Kedacom USB Device
*** Backup your phone before going forward.
Getting the Deep Testing app:
Now first, you do need to sign-up for an OPPO account. The link from the OP will take you to their site and you can sign-up from there.
- You will be required to login to your OPPO account in order to use the app.
- The file you download is named "Reno Ace深度测试.apk".
- Add ".apk" to the end of the filename if it's not already there. DO NOT rename the file.
- Once logged into your OPPO account on your phone, you stay logged in so you don't need to worry about actively logging in everyday.
- Next, follow the instructions on how to use the app from the Deep Test thread.
- Keep trying until your submission gets accepted, then the hardest part begins: you...wait...
- Once approved, it took ~2 days for me to be able unlock.
Make sure you have ADB ready on your computer:
- There are plenty of guides on it, so I'll just leave a link here; honestly I forgot the specifics already: https://www.xda-developers.com/install-adb-windows-macos-linux/
Steps:
- Prepare your GSI: You can look for other GSI(s), but from my research it seems safest to get it from here first; before trying others: GSI thread
- This link explains what GSI are and how to choose which one to get.
- *Make sure to extract the ".img" file from the ".img.xz" zip file.*
- Download "vbmeta.img" from "Troubleshooting Tips" of the "Flash GSI without TWRP" section of the How to Flash GSI Guide.
-After you've extracted the ADB folder, keep the files (.img files) you intend to flash within the "platform-tools" folder.
*Noob tip lol: Clicking on the folder address and typing "cmd" is the quick way to open command prompt within the directory.*
- *** There are some unique steps for the Reno Ace, if not all OPPO phones, due to the Deep Testing app. ***
- After you get your approval, note that if you press the "Start Deep Testing" text you will be immediately put into fastboot mode. SO DO NOT PRESS IT NOW.
- Make sure you have OEM Unlock and USB Debugging enabled within Developer Options. Then connect your phone to your PC and set it to transfer files.
- On computer, open command prompt within the "platform- tools" folder. Enter the command "adb devices", when you see your device ID and "device" next to it, this means the phone has been connected. (If a prompt on your phone pop-ups, tap the "Always allow this computer to USB Debug" and "Allow". This is just what I did, not sure if it's necessary).
- Now go into the Deep Testing app on your phone, tap on "Queue status" and then "Start Deep Testing".
- You should see the images from this Oppo Find X tutorial, on your phone. Landing on the screen with the big green "Start" on top.
- Once you're here, enter "fastboot flashing unlock" into ADB and you'll move on to the next screen where you select "Unlock the Bootloader".
- After confirming, your phone will factory reset itself, and reboot into ColorOS again.
- Check to make sure your phone is connected to adb.
- From here on you follow "Flash GSI without TWRP" part of the How to Flash GSI Guide starting at step 2. If you have your ".img" files in the "platform-tools" folder then you can skip step 3.
- Before step 5 you need to flash the vbmeta: fastboot flash vbmeta name_of_vbmeta.img
Then flash the GSI ".img" file with fastboot -w flash system name_of_system.img.
(The comments there mentions that the "-u" is incorrect and should be "-w", which worked for me.)
* Important: without flashing "vbmeta.img" you'll be stuck in a boot loop because the phone prevents you from booting into the GSI. If this does happen, hold down Volume Down and Power until the phone vibrates to boot back into "fastboot mode". Enter "fastboot device" in ADB to confirm the phone is connected, and start over from step 4 in the How to Flash GSI Guide. *
- Once you finish step 6 your phone should boot into the GSI.
Hopefully this proves useful. I'm no expert, I simply found my way around things.
I honestly have no idea where to go from here, Magisk? LineageOS? If anyone can give me some pointers, that would be very much appreciated.
Things that are not working for me:
- Can't setup In-screen Fingerprint sensor

Would you mind giving a link to the twrp you found? I was searching around for one as well, but I couldn't find anything I felt comfortable with.
Also did you also flash a gsi? If you did, I was wondering if your headphone jack is working. Mine doesn't work anymore; the phone seems to recognize it, but no headphone icon shows up and sound plays through the speakers only.

Yes looks familiar it should be that one the twrp itself has Chinese and English languages.
Formatting and wipe is working otg also haven't really tested alot also you can flash ozip stock rom with it if you plan on rooting the boot gets corrupted but with the vbmeta bypasses it.
if you plan on installing V4A don't do the magisk module will bootloop have to look for the rootless V4A. (also need AML and the sound is great)
also don't change to f2fs i did it and the phone make weird noises went back to ext4.

Awesome! Thanks for the info, it will come in handy later on. Still just learning and getting familiar with all this.
A follow up after a couple of days of using phhusson's gsi.
Overall the phone is functioning very well. Generally smoother than on ColorOS.
Things to note:
- Battery life is good, same if not better than on ColorOS.
- Fast charge works. Full charge in around under 30 mins.
- Wi-fi works and Data works.
- Phone and Text work.
- Camera works.
- Headphone jack won't work until you go into the treble-settings (Phh Treble Settings) -> Qualcomm features -> and turn on "Use alternate audio policy"; then restart your phone. Then it will work again, although no headphone icons will appear. I don't use Headsets, so I couldn't test if that works as well.
- The phone will be rooted by default, so certain apps can't be downloaded, or used. (Root can be removed, but it doesn't seem like a good idea.) There are ways around this, but I didn't dive very deep into it.
Problems to note:
- In-screen fingerprint sensor can't be used.
- No auto-adjusting brightness.
- Brightness is a lot brighter than in ColorOS. Even lowest brightness is bright.
- Auto-Rotate is very sensitive and won't stay landscape when phone is flat on a table.
- Certain apps may not be full screen if you use the new gesture navigation. (Shadowverse)
- I didn't test Bluetooth or NFC. I don't use them much, or at all, so I'll follow up on that when the time comes and no one else has mentioned anything on them yet.
That should be all for now. Honestly very happy with the move. Hope this helps.
**Just an extra reminder that this is my experience with this specific gsi. **
Is this still available? I can't download the APK from Oppo, I logged onto my 'heytap' account but the download link just brings me to my account information.
