Is it possible to use an external wifi adapter with the G7 Power Ocean. I wanted to give nethunter for a run but obviously without a wifi adapter (or I guess if its possible to set promisc with packet injection) you cant use it to its full potential. If it is possible to set the internal network card... How might I go about doing that? If not how can I get my phone to read an external Wifi adapter and or does it have to be a specific model? The one I currently use on my laptop works fine in linux so should it also work on the phone? Pending on the phones capabilities...

hey, i have an acern310 wich means i have no wifi built in. so i want to buy a wifi sd card and a cable to connect my usb-stick to my pda. i'd like to be able downloading bigger files with my pda and this seems to be the only way.
has anyone experiences with that or maybe informations?
thanx
it's unclear what you want
if your device got sdio you can get an sdcard with wifi
you can't connect an usb wifi device to it unless it got usb host
support which is rare
or are you trying to share your wifi with a laptop or something ?
would be wise to elaborate on terms like
acern310
which you can't take for granted everybody know what is
i want the usb stick using as storage device and as i meant an sd wifi card (sdio) for having wireless lan connection. because if i use an sdio card i won't be able to use an sd card as storage device where i can download to...
I have a MyTouch 3G that I rooted and run Cyanogen on.
I recently got a new G2 (hate that its not perma-rooted yet) and have my SIM card in it.
So... what cool things can I do with my old MyTouch without cellular data connection (besides the obvious mp3 player, gaming device, etc)? Its a small computer with usb, bluetooth, wifi, gps, and a camera.
Some ideas:
Is it possible to make it a bluetooth receiver for music? If so, I could have it permanently hooked up to a car stereo via 3.5mm cable and then other things could connect to it via bluetooth. This would be useful for my parent's RV which has an aux input but no bluetooth.
Can turn it into a security device and stream video?... either stream it to another computer on the network which runs a webserver, or run a webserver on the android device itself?
Can you turn it into a USB trackpad to plug into any computer?
I know you can plug the phone into a computer and it appears as external storage, but can you plug external storage into the phone? Could I buy a huge 1Tb+ external hard drive and let this thing be a fileserver (or anything a SheevaPlug / PogoPlug can do?)
Can it become a wireless repeater?
Is anybody doing any of these things now?
What are you doing with your old device?
I expect ROMs out there geared towards a single purpose as more and more people get Android devices then upgrade to newer Android devices.

I've looked and saw something similar but don't remember the search criteria. History: I once had a Chinese tablet that worked as desired. I used a USB WLAN adapter that overrode the internal wifi and worked. Is there something I can do to have my XOOM recognized my external usb wifi adapter. (I am rooted with ICS 4.03 with a OTG adapter)

I believe the information you are looking for in in the Xoom Android Development section. The tread is called "Tegra Hardware and Feature Implementation ". Drivers and further enhancements to the kernel can be found on the first post.
That was informative, now to figure out how to install it. I am just getting started doing this stuff.
External USB Wifi
First I don't want to do any testing on network security, I barely know how to turn on my XOOM.
What I looking for is a way to use my external USB Wifi adapter with my XOOM to increase the range of reception when I'm on the lake too far from my home wifi.
I want to be able to disable the internal wifi and then attach the external USB Antenna.
Developers, I know where the donate button is. Just need some help with this issue.
I don't want to install BT5.
Or if this has all ready been done please give me the link because after hours of searching, I can't seem to find the solution.

No Joy
Hi,
I have a Linksys N150 USB Wireless Card. I am no longer using it with my PC so I tried connecting it to my MK802IV. It detects just fine and I can see it using the USBOTG based application. Question is :
1. Is it possible to enable a external Wifi card connected to MK802 and not use the internal one.
2. Is there a way to choose which Network Card to use to connect to the Wifi?
If I can get this working then I might be able to utilize the better speed of this device rather than the default one in MK802.
what app can i use to see if my WiFi password is crackable or not ? thanks
depends on what chipset your phone has, or what chipset your external uses (if you have an external you would know the answer to your original question)
run kali linux with a working wifi adapter, it is alot easier to run it on a laptop than a phone, also more effective
