What is cheaper and as descent as a oneplus 7 pro - General Questions and Answers

I currently have a note 9, I'm shopping for a new, I like the oneplus 7 pro, but a lil pricey. What is cheaper and descent as far as specs?. I'm not a samsung fan. I want something that's somewhat easy to root if I choose, takes descent pictures and has a lot of memory lasting charge and unlocked for verizon or straighttalk. Please give me some ideas, I've looked at mororlas, the oneplus,
I've had a moto x pure and google nexus 6 that I loved, but that was years ago and theyr outdated ?
Please and thank you

1. Find a budget and stay on the righteous path.
2. Find something that meets your requirements. Ram, GPU, Chipset, Dual Sim, 5G, maximum running hours on optimal level.
3. Read as much as possible today about each device you're interested in.
4. Read and watch more reviews. Don't just focus on the thought of dispute and or trend.
5. Do you plan to modify the device. If the answer is yes, you must acknowledge the downfalls of rooting. If the answer is no, don't kid yourself.
There's much to be considered. Everyone has a different light head to what is In your taste, so to speak..
So when you asked the question of what's next. Keep in mind all the pro's and con's of both existing device and your new baby.
Do everything impulsively, do nothing impulsively, either way remain calm.
*Baby is a euphemism*
Also I believe this part is the most important of anything listed above.
We learn from others, we learn from our mistakes.

Should I Buy OPO or OPT worse it

I just thinking loud with all of you as I see that OPT is not that much different however it`s completely disappointing me when I know that it`s 2 SIM but Dual standby NOT active
and that's completely useless
What do think guys
Honestly, I think people should be able to make up their own minds when it comes to investing hundreds of dollars in a piece of tech equipment. I'll never understand why anyone would create a thread asking complete strangers, who could very possibly be very heavily biased (or just malicious) how to spend so much money. Buy whichever one suits you the most.

You may want to check this thread for opinions on moving to the OPT. The good thing is theres plenty of choice at the moment with many quality devices from different manufacturers, obviously each with its own pros and cons, so as Heisenberg says find whichever one suits you. The Nexus devices are still to be announced as well and if the rumours are true they could be a couple of cracking phones to choose from.

OPO is a good device IMO if you want to go for, but OnePlus 2 is much better (I have used it in one of the OnePlus event)
But I suggest you to go with latest technology.
Because every week in the mobile market, new device is released or allegedly leaked. (Just yesterday Zenfone Max was announced, so you can see the speed of mobile technology)
The more you wait, the more you'll get confused, but the result will be always better as you'll get the latest technology.
Think wisely and invest your money.
Moto x style in the heavy competition
My two cents:
If I had to pick between the two, I would probably go with the OnePlus Two, because it has newer hardware and will probably get support for longer than the OPO. On the other hand, if I were to replace my OPO with something else and I wasn't restricted to these two phones, I'd go for something else, like the new Nexus 5 that's coming out, or something like the Moto X, because while the OPO is a great phone, it is over a year old, and the software support hasn't been too great. The OPT, on the other hand, seems to be missing some features that I use quite often, the biggest of which being NFC. Now granted, they have a vibrant custom ROM community, but I still prefer the Nexus line.

HTC 10 or OnePlus 3?

Hey guys, I am selling my Note 4. Just got really tired of TouchWiz, yet again. So looking to buy a phone which won't cost be fortune, cheap in other words. So in my budget two phones only come, HTC 10 and OnePlus 3.
Now what I need.
- As close to stock Android as possible. So in that regard which would be better, Sense or Oxygen? Don't care much about ROMs but veteran devs gotta support the phone, for kernel's sake.
- An excellent display. I know none of them have a good display but as good as it goes, I am talking about colour saturation here, the neutral it is, the better. So which one is it? I realise HTC 10 will have more resolution but Anand's chart shows that OP3's display is more neutral (less saturated) than HTC 10. That right? Display is one of the main thing for me.
- Excellent reception and call quality. This is another important thing.
- Camera. HTC 10's is much better isn't it?
If I go for HTC 10 I will have to pay around 30-35% more of OP3's price. Now I know I will get more resolution, top notch audio, great built and probably better camera but with OnePlus 3 there is ther Dash Charging and stuffs, so confused really.
Please help this idiot to find the right one.
Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
There are threads already established that are devoted to discussions about devices, please read, and if necessary, repost your question in one of these threads: The what should I buy thread or the The Device Suggestion Thread or the The Device Comparison Thread.
There are also several other discussion threads that you probably should review to help you. They are What phone do you wish you had? or

I will have to close this one. Thanks for understanding.

Moto G5 Plus or Idol 4S?

I'm new to XDA, and was hoping you android experts could give me some advice on which phone to buy. For the past year and a half I've been using an extremely low budget Alcatel Onetouch Pixi 3. As you can probably imagine, the phone has been getting slower, and slower,... and slowerrrrr..... Even doing a factory reset, disabling all apps not needed, and using the phone with only light weight apps hasn't given me a significant improvement. Case in point, I'm experiencing lag just writing this post. That's beside the fact that the phone runs Lollipop and its battery is on its very last legs. Anyway now I've finished whining, I can get to the point. I have a slightly larger budget now; I'm a college student, so not much larger mind you, but larger enough to buy a $200-$300 new phone. And with Black Friday just two days away, I'm thinking now's probably a good time to buy. Research has led me to believe that my best option would be the 4GB RAM version of the Moto G5 Plus. However, I've also noticed that Microsoft will be selling the Alcatel Idol 4S for $170. Mind, that's a windows phone, not an android, but the specs are pretty close to the G5's plus the fact that you get C charging and a VR headset included make it appealing. I was wondering if the Idol could be switched to an android operating system, as I have no use for Windows Mobile, but perhaps the savings isn't worth such a project assuming it's even possible? Please let me know any suggestions, corrections or deals I might want to wait for, keeping in mind my budget. I'd obviously like to get the most bang for my buck. TL;DR: I need a new phone, think my best options are the Moto G5S or Microsoft Alcatel Idol 4S and would like buying advice.
P.S. I hope I've posted this in the right place; sorry for any inconvenience if I haven't.

Should I buy this phone?

Hi Everyone
I'm looking to upgrade from a Oneplus 3. Previously it was a great price for good specs.
I noticed the magic 3 whilst looking at YouTube and the specs look amazing.
1 - Interested to know of those who have had it for a while would you recommend getting it?
2 - what are the main annoying factors about the phone?
3 - Are there any others in the price range I should consider? I mostly play pubg, do retoo gaming and watch films with my existing phone
Many thanks in advance
Jamie
1 - Difficult to answer....if you're not into rooting and customizing, but happy with a basic Android experience and raw power, you should buy it......otherwise,if you want 100% flagship bells and whistless for half the price, you'll have to search futher,as this phone does not 'has it all' for just €479.
2 - For me,the most annoying thing is that there's much more to squeeze out of the camera,if Nubia's app would match the capabilities......but hopefully, there will be a working Gcam release in the near future.
3 - Xiaomi Mi 9....but I fell for the RM3.....
Many thanks for the reply, I don't mind rooting if necessary.
Also happy with a basic android experience as my oneplus was pretty much that when it first came out.
Thanks for the suggestion I will look into that also ??

I can tell the battery backup is awesome. Only problem I have is the gaming buttons are too annoying when playing a video.
I have it unrooted without gapps and IMO its better then some flagships. Reason is the big screen and the big battery and the stereo sound.
Also I prefer metal over Glas backside. And NO Notch.
The camera is better than that on my Xiaomi mi mix 3.
this phone is amazing, the only bad thing i see it had is not hdmi usb-c to support
I would wait for two main reasons:
1) Asus is going to announce their new ROG phone at the end of this month. While it will probably be a good deal more expensive, It might have some cool features
2) Nubia just announced they are going to release an 855 Plus version of this phone.

Thing is,no matter how long you wait ,there will always be something better on the horizon after your purchase.......no matter which device you've bought...
Hi,
Considering the price and the specs, I think the Red Magic 3 is about the best phone you can have nowadays.
If you buy it, you should consider two things :
- Chinese UI has a lot of features but is ugly and themes are mostly paid ones ;
- Europe/US/Asia ROM has ZERO features.
Once I recovered from the disappointment, the second solution was clearly what I was looking for.
So here is my advice :
- take the Europe/US/Asia version and flash it to your device (if it doesn't ship with that as stock)
- unlock the bootloader
-root your phone.
All this is done in like 4/5 minutes...
Once done, install all apps to add the required features.
You will have a phone that has ONLY THE FEATURES YOU WANT.
No bloat, no unnecessary stuff...
A dream come true
Of course, it comes with a price : once rooted, you will get OTA notifications but won't be able to install them...
Regards.

True
If you live in North America, I'd steer clear of this company.
I ordered one of their phones last week. I still have yet to receive my shipping notice. I ordered it with priority shipping, and according to their website, it should have shipped within 24 hours of payment.
4 days after it failed to ship, I contacted support, and was told "Be patient". Ever since then, they've stopped responding to emails. They won't give me any sort of clue as to when my order will ship. Apparently this is a frequent occurrence with Red Magic.
They're one of those companies that are only interested in getting devices out to reviewers, everyone else is to fend for themselves.
The support page on their website doesn't work. Apparently they didn't pay for it. Nubia cannot give any answers either, they just argue back in forth in the support email with several of the employees arguing about who's job it is to deal with.
If you ever receive a phone from them, and have an issue, good luck with that. Their current company (if you can call it that) shows that can't deal with supporting their devices. They can't even deal with fulfilling orders.
Stay far far away from this company, for you own good.
Is there likely to significant difference between the 8gb and 12gb ram? I think I'm going to get it but wonder if it's worth the extra money. Also just seen they mentioned the magic 4 by the end of the year. So maybe prices will come down
Well I'm in N.A. and I bought it from the site day it released. Great phone, few bugs at the moment and its a gaming phone at heart with stock Android, easily customizable. Honestly any game task you throw at it handles like a boss. It's an emulation dream with built in buttons. My controller and case should arrive the 22nd and I'm sure it will be great. I can tell you any Bluetooth controller works well on it too. The choice to buy is up to you, basically do you want a gaming phone or something else.
I have had this for two days in the USA and I love it. Usually I have buyer's remorse and would be looking for a new phone by now so I can say it really is great. Battery life is better than my S9 with a Mophie pack so far. Even with playing with it constantly I can't kill it in one day and usually my S9 needs to be plugged in by late afternoon. I have not rooted it yet, and may not. I love a clean version of Android. Not sure why people think that is bad. All the random customization sometimes comes with a speed cost. This phone is just plain fast. Usually I root to get rid of crap so you can see where I stand. If you hate big heavy phones, don't buy it. That is the negative. I had a ZTE Axon 7 and updates were slow so that's another negative. Other than that, super fast, great screen, great battery, strong data signal...it's a buy. Reminds me of the original OnePlus, or the Axon. Phones that were surprising values, but were big and heavy.

I'm coming from the OnePlus 3(T) as well, looking for a new device. What I didn't like at the Oneplus were the original ROM (luckily Lineage helped a lot) and the sound and position of the speaker. I loved the front facing stereo speakers of my HTC One (m7) years ago.
So I'm thinking of purchasing the RM3, but at the moment there are no alternative ROMS. Another device I'm looking at is the Black Shark 2, but situation with ROMs and support seems to be even worse.
For the RM3, I have concerns, if a fan inside a mobile will really last for some years, or break down at some time...
I also had the 3T and 1 and the 6T obviously this is just a better phone due to the increases in tech. No way to tell on the fan, I will say...and not sure how ZTE vs it's company Nubia will work, but my Axon 7 had a couple of screen issues due to my dropping it and the speaker stopped working, not sure if it was due to that and ZTE fixed it every time free of charge within the first year. I was very happy with their service on that phone. ROM support will be lacking but it's a clean version of Android so I prefer that

To me...a clean, lean ROM, which the US version is, rooted with Magisk and other mods I choose myself is always the best option. Some custom ROMs can get pretty bloated themselves

It depends on what you are looking for an what you want to do?
If you are a person who is happy with stock ROMs an just leaves cellphones in the state they are in out of the box then yes buy it.
However if you are a person who likes tinkering modifications an custom ROMs the please do not buy this cellphone.
I tried to install TWRP over 2 months ago an got stuck in a fastboot bootloop. Every xda suggestion to fix this plus paying a cellphone repair center an trying heaps of suggestions an it's still non functional.
It has horrible software an is rediculously sensitive to any and all attempts to FLASH ANYTHING.
If red magic 3s break you might never be able to fix them at a software level.
Mine lives in a bag by my bed to remind me not to bite off more than I can chew.
I have a xiaomi Mi9 now an have no real issues with it.
Good luck with your decision
So the options are to buy on Ali are with a stock Global Rom or a Chinese ROM. I see some other posts about people flashing to the Chinese one. Is that the best option to choose? I take it you can still select the language as English and support here etc? Thanks for everyone's responded it's been really helpful. I was thinking of holding out for the 855plus but not sure if I can afford which will be most likely an additional cost for it.
I also have the same question but mine is a bit different. Im convinced i am going to buy it but...
Should i buy it now or wait for the 855+ version? Idc if its gonna be a bit more expensive

I would of thought it would be more expensive as they still have the original to sell. Probably will stick another £100 on it or so I reckon ?

Purchasing one plus 7 pro

I have planned to purchase one plus 7 pro. Is it worth buying?? If someone is using please give me feedback, who have bought that phone....
We're using the Oneplus 7 Pro as business phones, and I can honestly say that this is the fastest phone I've ever used. First time in a long time that I'm not flashing Lineageos first thing. [emoji16]

All depends what you want in a phone if speed and development is your thing then yes it's a winner if it's more camera then there's better out there P30 pro for example , ticks many boxes but camera could be improved if it's possible ,

For me it's the best overall phone in 2019! Good luck
I have had mine since it was released, and it just keeps getting better. Some will say the camera is weak, and maybe that was true back in April, but I think it takes great shots now. I am running Android 10 beta, and it is rock solid. If you are looking for a phone for overall usage, this is it. Best bang for the buck. I would highly recommend this phone to anyone.
The camera is garbage. You get used to it and that's why it seems to get better but it's garbage nonetheless. Me and my girlfriend keep taking pictures on her galaxy s8 because wherever we take them on my 7 Pro they turn up horrible.
I wouldn't call the camera garbage at all. I have a Galaxy S10E as well and much prefer the OP7 over it including the camera. Takes great pictures, even of my kids which is always difficult. Remember these are phones. The cameras have come a long long way.
If you can get the gs10+ for same price or promo from carrier I'd go that route. I like my OP7 pro but truly the gs10+ is better phone for most.
Ip rating if you must,
Wireless charging,
Better camera,
SD if needed,
Overall better support directly through carrier vs dealing with OP sometimes awful customer service and Warranty nightmares. Again I like my 7 pro. And won't be changing it for a while but truly the gs10+ is a better phone for 70% of people.
There is an issue with the battery when u play games like PUBG. It takes 3:30 to 4 hrs playing only. Everything else is perfect. At least for me
If money is no issue grab a s10 or even note 10 on the dark webs. They are getting cheap fast.......
Can't go wrong with any flagship. Screen is average if coming from Samsung line. I'm in love the storage speed honestly.
Currently scratching my itch for stock Android but it won't last too long. I prefer baked in features rather I use them or not.
Battery life is average.
If comparing to zte, xiaomi or any of the other mid priced/high spec cheap phones, OnePlus wins.

Question is so vague, as to make it impossible to answer meaningfully. Worth buying? Worth it to who, you? We don't know anything about you, so how would we know? Such as what device you currently have, what types of things you like to use your phone for, what your budget is, etc.
Most folks on this forum section own the 7 Pro. So they will likely tell you it was worth it. Folks do not tend to frequent a particular device forum, unless they own and like that phone.
The 7 Pro is crazy smooth and fast, with flagship specs in most regards, but with a much lower price than the big brands (Samsung, Apple, etc.). The mostly clean Android interface (without too much manufacturer "skinning") is nice as well. The camera may not be the absolute best. But more than sufficient in most cases, in my opinion. No waterproof rating. No wireless charging, either. But whether you miss those features or not, depends on your needs. And most of those details, you could have easily read on any number of internet reviews of the device (and maybe you already have).
Just as important for many of us here, is that the device has good XDA community support.
