Hey Guys,
I just installed second sim card in my pixel 3a. Phone is working in dual standby without issue, well there is only one issue with dialer. My main sim is esim, text, calls and data are set by default to that sim.
If You open dialer you can call only from main sim, well when call is connected you can tap change sim, but current call is disconnected. Is there any chance to get proper dual sim dialer, where you can choose which sim before you place a call? Samsung has that option
Just install True Phone from Play Store and configure it (don't use it as default phone app and you'll be happy)

Not perfect, but works ok. Thank you!
I guess the thing you are talking about is already available on pixel. See the SS.

What I want:
My phone is rooted. I want to change the phone number listed in SETTINGS.
Why?
Because I ported my number to current provider, SIM number doesnt match with phone number in settings
Real reason?
Paypal app won't work without this.
Please don't tell me to:
- Put my sim in an iphone or blackberry
- Install xposed framework
- That it's not possible
In dialer, goto settings->GSM call settings->Additional settings->My phone number
Its there for me, so check it out.

Does not exist in my moto g. Are you on about 'phone' app when you say dialer? There is no GSM CALL SETTINGS.

Yes, phone app.
I'm running slimkat, so its probably not there on stock.
It might be elsewhere under settings in phone app.

Yes I've check everywhere, it does not exist. I'm on stock.
Anyone else?
It seems that the stock Huawei dialer isn't fully compatible with using Google Voice to make calls. Sometimes it uses the GV number, sometimes the SIM number. I know the workaround would be to make calls directly from the Hangouts app, but that's not helpful in areas without great signal. Does anyone have a way to install the stock Google Phone app? I know it can be added as a system app, but as far as I know we currently lose mods to system on reboot... (Unless I'm wrong on that?)
Thanks!

have you tried going to apkmirror.com and installing one of the stock dialer apps?

Yep. The more recent dialers are looking for the associated framework, so they complain the phone is not compatible. I tried an older version that would install and it functions okay...but when dialing out the stock Huawei dialer takes over to actually make the call. (Even after changing the phone app in defaults.)

DAMN. This sucks for me. I just got my mate 9 but I need to switch from verizon to a GSM provider. So no old dialers work?

Hmmm...not sure what you mean. I'm not aware of any way to place a call directly from the Google Voice app? It just allows you to specify whether the default phone app should dial via Google Voice, which works about 1 out of 5 times when it's turned on.

Hmm nvm I thot u could guess it just takes u to the default dialer.
It seems that no matter what you choose as the default dialer app, the Huawei remains the default. I've tried a few different dialer replacements, same results. I've seen the same comment on other Huawei forums as well...
Please,
is there some way for setting one of dual SIM for sending SMS. Staff with default SIM for phone work, but not for SMS!
Thanks!
Mario
And why is it the second sim card by default?
Same here. Sim 2 is set by default. Don't know why.

Same problem on my phone - Poco x3 NFC. In Dual SIM settings I can choose default SIM card for calls and default SIM card for data traffic. But if I want to set default SIM card for texting - no way Jose.
I look like a moron, bcs I send one message from 1st SIM card, next message from 2nd SIM card etc. People must think I am retarded when texting like that.
Try this workaround

Since the link no longer works let me quote the content of that link:
1. Set the SIM card (which you want to set as default for SMS messages) as default for Calls and Internet,
2. Temporarily disable the other SIM card,
3. Send a message to anyone,
4. Re-enable your other SIM card,
5. Re-adjust the default SIM settings which you changed in step 1.
* It still does not affect the conversations in which you have already sent messages using other SIM card.
** Step 1 is required for step 2.

Say goodbye to your problems...
Worked for me on my Pixel 4, with Android 12. Even with the physical SIM set for SMS it kept using the ESIM until I switched off the ESIM, sent a message then switched it back on. Must be a bug in Android.
If someone get here and above methods doesn't works, in my case helped "wipe all data" for messaging app. I didn't lost messages.
Yes mate. Thank you so much

Hello
I have a dual sim Samsung S20 5G with 2 sim. Since the upgrade to Android 11 and UI 3.0 , I see only one call icon when I click a contact. The only option to choose from which sim to call is to set the phone to ask before, but is very annoying.
Also if I go on keypad, there is only one call icon.
Is any new setting moved somewhere else ?

hello
could you please give more details? What do you mean by “me do not support 5g” in relation with dual sim problem?
I have this problem too after update to android 11.
Any one know solution to fix that?
I have the same issue and I hope someone helps soon. I was ok with the setting of asking which sim to use before every call, but it doesn't work with android auto as it needs a default sim, so I can't make calls while driving.
The only solution that I've found by this moment is to manually open each contact and under the name you will find a button with 3 options: Ask everytime, SIM 1 and SIM 2. Selecting one or another will only use that SiM when calling (still frustrating if u want to use both SIMs to call one person)
I have to ask you gurus.. this is getting annoying. i have one private sim, and one work sim.
i call and text with both depending if it is work related or not.
the way f.ex motorola/huawei handles dual sim is so much better, automatically using which sim i used last, for a call/text to a specific number.
but with samsung`s way of handling this, i have to edit each contact to select preferred sim to use.
am i missing something here?
Mine always uses /defaults to whatever sim i originally used to call a number. I can change to a different sims if I want but otherwise it just does it automatically

Every time you make a call even to a number you called already on default sim? Are you using Samsung phone app?

yep, it was like that on my S20 FE also. every time i get a pop up asking which sim to use. i have to manually edit a contact to make it use the desired sim.
Try to use the TrueCaller application for default Call & SMS and it will stay with the simcard which one was the last used for both Call & SMS....mate.
The way Samsung used to have the dialler was with two call.buttons, one for each sim. That was much better than today.
