vowifi/WiFi calling on three UK on none branded phone - OnePlus 8 Questions & Answers

This might be to early to ask but has anyone been able to test this on three? I have no reception in my flat and can't get vowife to work on my 3t and because of the lockdown I need a working phone. I'm on a sim contract with three already.

Got it direct from OnePlus. Don't think it actually matter because all UK versions are unlocked

Thanks. For some reason the 3t doesn't allow that on three, which is annoying as the phone works fine bar reception at home which is an issue in lockdown

What I do at home is have an app (it's called Automate) which, when it detects me connecting to the home wifi, will divert incoming calls to my house phone. When the wifi connection goes (I've left the house), then it cancels the divert.
Maybe that will help you?

HTC U11 AT&T Version

has anyone bought the HTC U11 AT&T Version ( I know is the same as the unlocked version ) just want to know if it comes pre-loaded with AT&T software like VVM (visual voicemail) My AT&T app and stuff like that also if wifi calling & VoLTE works on that version
No, the AT&T version is simply the unlocked model. It does not come with any carrier specific applications. If you are wondering how you're going to get them on your phone this is how it works
When you insert your AT&T Sim card into the phone the phone will ask you to restart, after you do that the next time you go into the play store carrier specific applications such as visual voicemail and My AT&T will be available for download. I had the same question last year because the HTC 10 was the first factory unlocked phone that I have bought
you also won't have any problem with Wi-Fi calling or voice over LTE take it from me, if you ask the carriers themselves they will tell you that because you are using an unlocked device that it will not work but everything will be fine
Wi-Fi calling never worked on HTC 10 on AT&T

Imposible on AT&T no one ever had Wi-Fi calling on HTC 10 but VoLTE did work
If you can show any proof of it?

The icon of the phone in the top with Wi-Fi bars that is how you know you have Wi-Fi calling, you probably only had VoLTE that's why you noticed better call quality

WHOA. How did you get WiFi calling to work on your HTC 10 on AT&T? (or is that just an example of what it would look like if it did work?)

UK buyers of the PH-1

Thought I would start this thread so we can help each other out once we get our devices .So I'll start off with
I was planning on just getting a US to UK power adapter and using the phones US charger ,as I can see any other phones chargers of 27W .
I'm on EE network so would be interested to see if everything works fine including WiFi calling and if the MY EE app recognises the phone
Not seen any case anywhere so gone for a fitbag pouch
Feel free to join in with your views and experiences
The power adaptor is rated to 240v so thats fine, I'm on the EE network with mine and it works great. Ive not tried wifi calling so I can't comment on that..

Not on EE but O2 WiFi calling works, though I have about a minute delay when sending texts with WiFi preferred for some reason.
Fitbag pouch is good though! I love mine
I have an Essential PH-1 which I picked up in the U.S. a couple of months ago. I've been using it in the UK on Vodafone just fine since then. I just used my F&F voucher to buy the camera which is on it's way.
I got 2 PH-1 phones in the US last month (was there for business).
I'm using one phone myself on EE network and it works great (including WiFi calling and LTE-Advanced/CarrierAggregation).
Thinking of giving the seconds phone to my dad for Christmas.
I was fortunate my sister coming over and she got me the phone & camera for $449.99, I am on 3 and Wi-Fi calling works great for me

Wifi calling UK?

Does anybody know if the OP6 will support Wifi calling? More specifically in the UK?
I think someone once mentioned to me that the OP5 had Wifi calling on Three UK?
I would also like to know this answer.
I'm with three UK, and had WiFi calling on my Note8.
Unfortunately nothing has come-up on the OP6.
Will keep you updated.
WiFi calling on O2UK
You see WiFi calling as an option on OP6?

Is the option there? User above has shown Wifi calling option is certainly there and works with O2.
I have Wifi calling on my Honor View 10 and that works with Three.
As OP6 doesn't appear to need special firmware to have Wifi calling, unlike say a Samsung S9+ - I would assume it's there?

Odd. I would have thought the option was available to everyone - as the OP6 isn't carrier specific and doesn't have special firmware.
its up to your mobile operator which devices to support

Not the point we're trying to make. The option for Wifi Calling in menu will be there regardless of whether the operator supports it. Some phones need a firmware from the operator to see it. But shouldn't be the case with the OP6 as there are no other firmwares, it's independent.
Nokia 3/5 - has Wifi calling option (as does iPhone) whether operator supports it or not.

That's worrying, I rely on WiFi calling in my flat right now since I get no signal at all (very thick concrete walls).
WiFi calling works flawlessly on Three on my iPhone, so if it turns out Three doesn't support it on the OP6, I might have to switch to O2/EE, both of whom have WiFi calling that works with OnePlus.
I actually went on live chat with Three a few days ago to complain about the lack of signal and WiFi calling not working on some Android devices - they first said to just use the Three inTouch app, to which I said it is garbage and barely works half the time. Eventually they caved in and gave me a £3 discount on my monthly bill. When I didn't accept that, they gave me £4... and then £5. Eventually they sent me over to the complaints team who gave me credit on my account equivalent to 2 months worth of bills and said I can cancel the contract free of any charges whenever I want.
Point is, if WiFi calling doesn't work on the OP6, go and complain to live chat, you'll get a discount on your contract or even better... and do not accept the initial offer they give you.

I have tried in the house as my cellular network is not full bars.

Hi,
I'm using p40 pro + and Vodafone in Delhi. I'm. Not getting option for WiFi calling. But in my jio which is in sim 2 I have that. Any idea why specifically in Vodafone it isn't coming?
Prior to this I was using S21 Ultra, in that WiFi calling was working as charm for voda.
WiFi calling feature depends on the phone model. Probably P40 Pro + is not currently supported by Vodafone in your country.

how do you enable the wifi call? maybe you are using a different model?

Does wifi calling work on T-mobile?

I know in the past, the only way to get wifi calling on T-mobile was to buy the phone directly from them with the feature pre-installed. Unfortunately, T-Mobile isn't selling the 4a, so that's not an option. Can anyone confirm or deny whether wifi calling works (or can be made to work) with a T-mobile sim?

Worked and enabled out the box.
Perfect. Placing order now.
My Nokia 6.1 has been a trooper for the last couple years, but I could definitely do with an upgrade - especially with updates ended and patches ending soon.

Got it yesterday and can confirm that yes, wifi calling does work on t-mobile out of the box.
