So I have an HTC U11 Life with stock Android 7.1.1, never installed any OTA or security updates. I got a replacement U11 Life that came with Android 8 on it. I have literally been on hold with HTC for the last few days so I can get an official rooted ROM of the exact Android version my old phone has. So I thought about just cloning my old phone and restoring that image onto the new phone since they are the same model.
I guess my questions are, does anyone know if Dr.Fone will clone the OS (like make an exact 1:1 copy) and what are your experiences with this kind of software? Anything I should know or be aware of?

1. Production lead times.
2. Froyo 2.2 is tried and true. Fewer warranty and customer support issues.
Sent from HTC G2
the only phones that get immediate updates are the nexus phones (googles flagship phones). for my phone, a version of the official gingerbread was leaked only a few weeks ago.
of course, this all shouldnt be a problem if you decide to flash custom roms (most of which are gingerbread anyways)

Makes you wonder doesn't it? It's like buying a new PC only to get it home and find that it's running Windows XP. In both instances it leaves the end user more vulnerable to exploits and nasties.
So my buddy got the HTC One M8 running Windows Phone as an upgrade. He wanted the Android version, but when it came time to buy they had none left in stock so he got this one instead.
He still wants Android, though, so my question is this: is there any known method to install Android onto an M8 that originally came with WP? I understand it would probably need a different recovery installed, but beings as the hardware is exactly the same.

Nope there is no method and probably never will be. There is no wide developer audience and with a possible Windows M9 coming they most likely won't bother this far into the year.
Is this still the same answer?
Let's see iPhones first as an analogy: say, you backed up your old iPhone, you bought a new one (new model), you could more or less restore your data from your previous model iPhone to your new model iPhone. More or less.
The thing with Android is, first, you never know if your next Android phone would be from the same manufacturer, or this time you try something new. But even if your new model android phone is from the same maker as your old Android phone, is there any robust backup-restore solution for Android yet, which, if it not works across various phone makers, at least will work for the old and new models of the same maker?
No root, if possible.
I find it in general a big pain to set up a new Android phone with all my usual data.
Hi guys.
I know my question might sound dumb, but if some one could help me out it would be really helpful. So I'll explain my situation right now...
I purchased this iPhone 5s from Amazon and the seller was not an official retailer, instead this guy was selling unlocked US variant of iPhone 5s 16gb (at least this is what they said on Amazon site). And till 10.3.3 I had no notable issues, but ever since I jumped to iOS 11 (not BETA) my device started heating up & battery drain was immense. So I felt maybe I should do a factory reset, and I did so, then it turns out that, my device won't activate. I searched everywhere and couldn't find a solution for it and even if there is, then this SHSH blobs come into picture, which I wasn't aware of until I got this issue. Hence I do not have SHSH blobs for my device and Apple stopped signing iOS 11.3 and below versions. And activation through iTunes is saying that it's not able to obtain activation information from the device.
But then I stumbled upon a post where some guy mentioned that refurbished device cannot be activated starting from iOS 11. So I need someone's help, someone who has a signed iOS 10.3.3 update downloaded during the time when Apple was still signing them. I'm not sure if this would work, but I wish someone could share it with me. If anyone is having a copy of it kindly help me out...
These are my device details:
Model: A1533
Current firmware: iOS 11.3.1 (GSM)
Internal: 16gb
Thanks in advance.
Hello everyone!
As I am searching for a "new" used phone and see website with refurbished -and partly updated- phones, I wonder if it is possible to make more phones interesting for resale by installing custom ROMs / firmware plus the other refurbish stuff. I think it should be possible that ROM coders/designers/programmers here+elsewhere and refurbishers could work (an earn) together.
Why shouldn't one start such a business?
No opinions?
nobody?
