Any Screen Lock Widget? - Google Pixel Questions & Answers

Hi,
In any Huawei phone which uses EMUI skin, there's a built-in widget called "Screen Lock" which is nice because it gives me an easy way to lock my screen with just a tap on the icon, thus extending the lifetime of the power button. Is there any similar built-in widget on Pixel phones?

Hello,
Is there a widget to turn off the screen by one touch? as an alternative to using the power button ?
or even a widget to lock the screen? ( I am not talking about the lock pattern )
Thanks.

that would be an awesome widget
Well, I have WidgetLocker installed, I now have a link to go to it (which basically puts the lockscreen up) and the timeout is only 5 seconds...
The best non WidgetLocker solution I came up with was to use an app like Profiles that lets me put a shortcut on my homescreen -- so I put a shortcut for a 1-second screen timeout on my homescreen. It works well enough, but of course then you'll want another shortcut to put the screen back to your normal timeout, or maybe just use Screebl.

Quick tip (if you don't like using the power button)

Just a quick tip for people who don't like using the power button to turn the screen off. If you happen to use Apex Launcher you will know it gives the user the ability to use "Gesture Control" in the form of swiping (up and down) and double-tapping.
Some people will also know about useful apps that allow the user to quickly turn off the screen with just a single touch on the screen, usually in the form of a widget. Well, a certain app called Screen Off and Lock is used in the form of a normal app that is launched. So, when configuring gesture controls on Apex Launcher it gives you the option to launch an app using any one of the provided gestures and when using it in conjunction with Screen Off and Lock you have an easy way to turn off the screen. I personally use double-tap and it works flawlessly.
To use:
Download and install "Apex Launcher" and "Screen Off and Lock" (both have free versions)
Select Apex as your default launcher and then go into "Apex Settings"
Navigate to "Behavior Settings" and select any one of the "Gestures" (except "Long Press")
Press "Launch App" and then select "Screen Off" (not "Configuration")
Enjoy
EDIT:
Also, don't forget to go into [(System) Settings > Security > Device administrators] and "check" the box next to Screen Off and Lock.

[Q] Need help with the weather/clock on the lock screen.

I want the weather/clock widget to be the same on both lock and home screen. I can not remove or change the lock screen widget and can not find a matching widget to add to home screen. Any widget I add displays different weather for my location than the installed lock screen widget which is frustrating. Now the lock screen just shows "weather update not available" the only option I have found to remove the widget on lick screen is to remove the lick screen feature in security, but that is an unacceptable option.
can this be fixed? If not I would appreciate the most reliable widget suggestion.

[APP][4.1+] Screen Lock (One touch to lock screen) v.1.0.25

Just one touch to turn off and lock screen.
"Screen Lock" provides different kinds of shortcuts (buttons):
- Shortcut on home screen
- Shortcut in the notification
- Shortcut floating on the screen over other apps
We provide many icons to apply to each kind of shortcut.
Floating shortcut supports more customization features:
- Adjust the size of icon
- Adjust the opacity of icon
- Auto hide in fullscreen mode
- Select icon from the pictures in your device
- Vibrate when locking
- Play sounds when locking
- Display weather information
- Lock the shortcut position
(When shortcut is moved, it will automatically move back to previous locked position in seconds. Just move & hold shortcut in seconds to change the locked position)
The hardware power button of some devices is not well designed. The frequent use to power on/off may damage it. The shortcuts provided by our app can replace it and extend it’s life time. Just one touch to lock screen. It can lock and turn off screen immediately without pressing hardware power button.
[v.1.0.25] 2015.6.21
- Fix the shortcut image in notification may be changed after reboot in some situation
- Refine visual design
You can install the attached APK file or download the latest version (Free) from the Google Play at
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simi.screenlock
If you have any suggestion or new features you would like, please feel free to reply this post or send email to us. Thanks!

I used apps to turn display off before, both used to display a white full screen while locking... this is good

Don't like AoD, is DT2W an option ?

I don't care for the 'Always on Display' that Samsung and LG have implemented in their phones the last year. To me it seems absolutely useless, because it's not interactive and can't tap a notification to reply from the lockscreen. I much prefer Motorola's way they did their 'Active Display', I think that's the better way to do something like that. But whatever
Is it possible to disable AoD, and turn the screen on by Double Tap 2 Waking ? And then swipe up like other Android phones to enter the home screen ?
If I get a text, I want the screen to turn on, and be able to reply to that text from the lockscreen, is that possible on the S8 ?
You can double tap the home button to wake from the lock screen

Does that need AoD on for just the home button ?

Needs AoD and that only takes you to the lock screen. You can hard press the home button on AoD to get right to the home screen.

Can reply to text notifications from the lock screen ?
No. But you can get a lock screen app that will allow you to do this. Here is one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jamworks.floatify

You can install "glimpse notifications" app free from playstore with allmost zero battery consumption ... With that you deactivate AOD and everytime you receive a notification the screen light up to see the notification on lockscreen.
Don't forget to activate led bling light to work together and put all the apps that you want to light up your screen to "white list"
Also, the long press home screen works on both AoD and the regular lock screen, if you turn off AoD.

Hard pressing the home button while screen is off (AOD off) also works.
