For months I have been installing the custom ROM from AOSP EXTENDED website. And everything has always worked well.
Until today.
I have a Motorola Moto X (2014 - Victara). In the AOSP EXTENDED section for my device there are two versions of Android - Pie (Android 9) and Ten (Android 10). I always downloaded and installed the Android Pie. But today, I wanted to give the tenth version of Android a try. It ended up that I did not liked that version. So, I wiped my device using TWRP, downloaded the latest version of Android Pie in the AOSP website, downloaded the correponding GApps (plataform: arm; Android: 9.0; variant: stock) and installed both.
After flashing and initializing the device, I connected it to my home WI-FI and jumped to the screen that allows me to recover my data from a previously backup. The problem occurs after this screen. When I am supposed to add my Google account, the screen just goes black. I can see the navigation bar and the status bar. Only the screen between these two is black.
If I do not install GApps I am able to use my device correctly. In addtion, If I skip the Google account addition screen and go directly to the settings to add my Google account, the screen goes black as well.
If there is a way to manually replace those essential apps (message app, calculator app, clock app, etc) that come with the ROM I would be to do so.
Here is the link to the website from where I download my installed ROMs: (I cannot paste it here because of the XDA rules for rookies. Maybe I can in the comment section?)
Here is a link about this thread on GitHub that may be useful (I could not get any information out of here because I do not know how to correctly follow the guy's instructions ): (I cannot paste it here because of the XDA rules for rookies. Maybe I can in the comment section?)

If it doesn't come from XDA, I wouldn't flash it on my device. Other sites where ROMs are available are not as safe as XDA, those other sites don't have the same standards as XDA, they allow ROMs to be posted that XDA would not allow. Some ROMs at those sites are poorly made, others have malicious code hidden in them and some of them are in violation of licensed software.
XDA has higher standards, they do not allow ROMs to be posted until the moderators have checked and verified the validity of the ROMs before they are posted. If nothing is amiss or out of place, the ROM can be posted, if it is not, it can't be posted here.
When using ROMs from sources other than XDA, you are taking your chances.

I found out what happened. The ROM is ok (the guy who does the maintenance has a profile here at XDA and has already posted the ROM here (jeferson1979)) the problem is in the GApps. Flashing the variant stock or above is the problem.
I'm having the exact same problem after flashing AEX GSI (android 9) and gapps. I tried gapps pico, nano and bitgapps (with bitgapps you can get into the OS, but then as soon as I try adding a google account I get the black screen of death again!) . All three resulted in this problem. I also tried a bliss GSI (pie) and the same thing happened there. This doesn't happen at all on android 10 GSI's, its quite strange. The AEX pie GSI is the smoothest I've seen yet, It'd be nice to be able to use it!

Description:
Gapps Manager easy lets you download the proper gapps (google apps) flashable zip package to install on your custom ROMs.
Currently, it supports gapps for gingerbread (2.3.x), ics (4.0.x), jellybean (4.1.x-4.3.x), and kitkat (4.4.x), art support also available.
Not sure what version of android you're on? It can tell you that also, just select android version when you open the menu.
Never bother with searching for compatible gapps again, or waste your time ending up with gapps that don't work properly for you.

I wonder... After I flashed a custom firmware (without gapps), my ROM is missing the Play Store. So how does this help me? Downloading and installing the apk manually?
EDIT: Yeah ok. The apk it is. The OP attached it as well. Sorry.

How about downloading the gapps first , prior to flashing your new ROM.
Just an idea
Sent from my C6603 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Thanks; Thought about this sometime and its finally here.
Will you be including slim gapps as well as the full packages?
Sent from my C6603 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Suggestion to make it even easier for noobs:
Auto-detect android version, and automatically recommend what GAPPS for the user? Eventually, if you use 4.4, the choise of dalvik or art before download?
And for advanced users: still possible to choose android version manually.
Am I allowed to include this in a ROM I have?
As someone else has mentioned, will other versions of gapps be included? I'd love to see an app that brings together all the google resources, from slim to zgapps to 0-day pa
Does this app link to any gapps that include non-neon compatibility libs? Thanks.
Does this includes TKruzze's [GAPPS][4.4.x/4.3.x]OFFICIAL 0-Day PA-GOOGLE APPS (All ROM's) and BaNkS [GApps][4.4.2]?
I haven't installed yet but I'll go ahead and ask first anyway. Does this install the bare minimum ONLY to get access to google play for downloading the rest or is this a large selection of google apps by default? Thank you for this product. It sounds like something that was overdue.
Jusy checked iy on on my retired Dinc2 with 4.4. It works simple and easy. Thanks although woulf love to have option of slim/full/PA complete for my DD phone, but i'm sure that will come in time?
Sweet!
can you somehow support dark moded apps that are avalible I really hate white pages with a passion

i am sure you are already in the right place.
after flashing your custom rom, you will also need to flash the GAPPS zip file to make certain google apps available for use.
if you are thinking of getting the individual apks to install, believe me it will not work because those apk also rely on some packages that has already being included in the gaaps.
let me know if i am making any sense
Welcome to StockWalk 1.0, the stable rom you need when bundled carrier crap starts overlapping.
This thread has been moved from its old home due to too much malware on androidforums ad's (that and i like xda more, its also where the other stockwalk is.).
wow...this was post 100... badass
When I first got this phone at best buy a week ago, I saw all the random crap that was on the phone and how it was preventing itself from running properly. I noticed the specs were amazing for the price so I hoped somebody would have a root for it. Alas, it brought me here.
Seems like development is just getting started and since I want to do it for me, I shall do it for you. I need my phone to work 100% at all times, and I need it to not die on me while I am at work, because I am too lazy/cheap to buy a car charger (in 9 hours i dropped to 69%, says 38 hours left [day two dropped from 100% to 22% in 14 hours of heavy use with lte on).
I have been working on a rom for several days based on the stock zv4 posted by donjuro here
The intention of this rom is to provide a nice stable base for further modding by others.
I fixed root (updater script was missing a line donjuro), updated busybox, and took out oh so much spyware. I left the stuff that dosent have too much spyware. Oh, and I also fixed data for Sprint Prepaid users. (other users should work by updating the prl and profile, if it does not let me know.)
Installation Instructions
So for those who have a custom recovery and rom for the volt. Just download the zip to your sdcard, and
"wipe data/factory reset" in recovery. Then install the zip, reboot and select the option to fix root if it asks
(if you choose not to fix root in cwm you will still have root, but one of the symlinks will be broken)
If you have not gotten a custom recovery yet. Go here and follow these directions. (Jump to step 4 if rooted)
thanks to bg4m3r for making a great guide.
Known bugs/things to know:
Connection optimizer is removed, so the system setting for it crashes.
Radio is not included in this rom. Install it via donjuros post here
I hold no responsibility for any damage to your phone.
I will help you as much as I can if you run into issues.
There is no advanced reboot menu right now, so to get into recovery
turn the phone off then hold volume down and power till you see
facotry reset then let go. It should boot into cwm.
Yes the lg remote control is gone, it requires 2 other applications to run, elua
and update center. if its wanted bad enough ill see if i can make a flashable zip for it.

I think that I'm the only one who will reply to this topic, but anyway.
Thanks for all the work that you have done and the hours you spend to make this ROM but there's someone called badmofo33 that made a custom ROM cm12.1,cm13, and many others for the lg volt and they are very stable and smooth and I'm actually using cm12.1 right now because it has USB host support but it has some bugs like the camera has a green tint, and sometimes it reboots itself I have tried the cm13 ROM and I saw the feature of making the SD card and internal memory as a one storage and I really liked it but the sad thing is that USB host is unsupported while the cm12.1 one (latest version) does. and there's one thing that I want you to do(if you're not busy and you are interested) if you could download the cm13 and took everything you need to make a perfect marshmallow ROM with all of features included in it and I think that everyone will be so grateful to you (especially me).
I hope that you will notice this request and consider it as a favor for all lg volt users. (Thanks A lot.)

my lg volt is missing its OS it runs Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) i need to know how to put it back on it so it a boot normally as it should right now isnt not because the os os gone some how

Let's see if I could do it or not
but i saw one low ram property patcher for oreo roms on xda

Might work but I'd say not updated lol
Noticed a couple of the problems, having to do with apps and folder names.
Under system/priv-app two folders need to be renamed so there is no spaces: Google Assistant Go and Google Go.
Also, rename the file within each to GoggleAssistantGo.apk and GoogleGo.apk respectively. And rename the app within system/priv-app/Phonesky to Phonesky.apk <=(it's the play store file). Should clear most problems...besides the play store crashing I had problems with for about 2 hours. That was because I had residual files in my devices system folder clashing with the GO install. Make sure the only Google play services you have installed is the one provided in the zip here. (Device folder tree> system/priv-app/PreBuiltGmsCore/PrebuiltGmsCore.apk) remove all other versions.
Gmail Go on anything lower than Oreo?

It works very fine except some problems like:
1.After 2/3 successful reboot the lockscreen doesn't accepts lock pattern or any lock pin/password but no worries you can able to open it through force fingerprint unlocking or deleting the locksettings.db from twrp/custom recovery or terminal.
2.The google assistant works fine but it cannot listen to your ok google directly you have to manually click on the mic.
3. The last bug i.e, the side google search is removed totally but if you install launcher like google or Microsoft you can see the side google bar present on the desktop.
But, Overall i love it and really i didn't faced any other problem based on google maps which is mentioned above. The battery drain is fine. All fine except above problems.
Thank you developer.

Reporting Bugs
DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log

The about device page doesn't list HD1907 as one of the compatible models. Has anyone tested it on the T-Mobile variant?

I tried that and had some problems with wifi and system UI crashing.
If anyone else has problems I rooted successfully using this tool:
[TOOL][OP7T] TOOL ALL IN ONE (Drivers|Unlock|TWRP|Factory Image|Stock Recovery)
This is the OnePlus 7T's TOOL ALL IN ONE Discussion Thread more info and download go to the Original Thread TOOL ALL IN ONE ADVANCED OPTIONS FUNCTIONS Install Drivers Install Drivers Unlock Bootloader Lock Bootloader (use carefully)...
forum.xda-developers.com
And manually choosing twrp-3-5-2_10-hotdog.img (you can find it online by searching).

Wiki only lists retail models. For anything non-retail, you're on your own when it goes for bootloader unlock or firmware updates, although branded models /should/ be working too.
Thanks for the ROM Luk!! EXCITED!!
Great job, I've been waiting for this rom, thanks

I see. I'll try to run it on my T-Mobile variant and report back on how it performs. Must be hassle free as I am already running the global firmware that comes with the retail model. Thanks for the clarification mate!
