My iPhone died and I'm moving to Android. One feature I have grown to love with my 2 year old is Live Photos. I know Samsung and Pixel have their own version. Does Oppo? Does Google support Oppo's version of Motion Photos?

Hello dear,
I have one question before I get my new smartphone.
I'm currently using WP7 which is Samsung Omnia 7.
I finally think it's not mature enough to use now in terms of some crucial features and a lack of apps. But actually I like the hardware such as super amoled and 4 inch screen.
Ive been searching for my new handset for few days and it's the time to make a decision.
My priority when I consider new smartphone is screen.
After I've used galaxy s, iPhone 4 and omnia 7, I think I will never get htc devices unless they will have amoled, though I like the sense UI. Because Amoled is one of the best screen ( black is real black.)
Google nexus s has super Amoled as well as Nokia N8(just amoled though)
And second priority is map. Nokia n8 has it's an own map app which is called ovi map.
And it works without wifi or 3G data as it's integrated. It's one of the attractiveness for me actually.
in google market, there must be some navigation apps but they are not free and cannot work without data.
Last thing I care of is multimedia function. I don't know if you guys know that Nokia n8 is called camera phone as it has 12 mega pixel camera. While nexus s has only 5 mp.
And Nokia n8 can connect with hdmi on tv as hdmi cable comes with handset when you get it.
What is the advantage for nexus s compared with Nokia n8?
Can anybody give me some answers or advice for me to decide?
Nexus family of products are showcases for the latest Android state. There are a lot of features that are not released with this phone. FM Radio, for instance.
I like to believe that a Nexus is a more geek friendly phone. People who like to thinker with its capabilities. Trying several ROM, etc, etc... In my opinion it's not a consumer phone, per se.
If you are only interest in the final features. Multimedia, camera capabilities, etc... I advise you to look for more friendly consumer products.
Seriously...? Are you comparing an Android phone with a symbian one? Really? No further comment.
All Android phones have Google Navigation and it works beautifully. While the camera quality of the Nexus S isn't as good as the N8, it still works pretty good in my opinion.
Also Symbian is a dying OS. If you haven't noticed Nokia is committing itself to Windows Phone 7 as their primary OS.
And finally the Nexus S is a whole lot faster and "sexier" then the N8

N8 has the best camera 12mpx with the real xenon flash. Nexus S will have better gaming experience with better 3D graphics.

Oh I know the OS is dying but not yet. Still they update the firmware every 3 month.
And as I stated the above, I'm not playing game often and I do care of offline map and multimedia features.
I just want to hear you guys from the advantages on Nexus S compare to Nokia n8.

Riiiiiight... So it isn't already dead for 1 year or so ? Clearly...
And what's up with the hole offline maps thingie ? You've got Maps 5.0+, which has offline caching, vectorized maps and offline re-routing. What the heck do you want more ? And you wish to sacrifice Android just for this ? Really ?
Size of memory and as I said, multimedia function.
Nexus s camera isn't great I read it from the review.
And I like Samsung made hardware but not camera and speaker.
Is there a hdmi port on nexus s?
All the multimedia features on n8 are the strongest attractiveness for me.
If there are something special things on nexus s, please let me know about it.
I had used android phone such as galaxy s and desire hd but I dislike android system as it looks unstable and fast but not too laggy.
The spec, the number of apps and speed are not important for me. The most important thing is if it is suitable for my needs.
Therefore, please give me some feedback from your experience.

The camera is more than adequate for taking pictures and video, MP is only really good if you want to blow the picture up to 'x' size. 5MP is more than enough for taking snaps.
No HDMI port, never really had any need for one myself, just chuck my files over onto the PC.
' I dislike android system as it looks unstable and fast but not too laggy.'
Really? Then you have made up your mind already! Its far from unstable or laggy. I came from a Nokia phone, it was all I would buy the last 10 years odd. That was until a friend showed me his Android phone. They really are awesome bits of kit. Symbian? Pah, thats so last gen ;-)
If you want a good camera, symbian, ovi maps than choose the n8 but If you want very good software, much apps, android, big screen etc. than go for the nexus s.
Heyy guys,
I've been using iPhones since last 5 years(5-5s-6-6s-7), blackberry before that. I've hardly used an android but now I'm a bit fed up with apple. Latest IOS11 literally screwed my iPhone 7, also option for customised ringtones has been removed from latest iTunes. I change to a new phone once every year. I really don't see much improvement in iPhone 8 over iPhone 7. iPhone X is out of question because it'll set me back by $1300(64GB) in my country and I'm not ready to spend that much on that. Pixel 2 is around $850 for the 64GB variant.
Now I was wondering if this year I should jump to android bandwagon. Have seen almost all the pixel 2 reviews on YouTube and quite impressed with it. 5"inch is the sweet spot for me. Will the transition be hard for someone who is coming from IOS?
Has anyone else done the same? I really need your help folks, urgently. I'm planning to get the new phone within a day or two. If It's not pixel then I'll get the iPhone 8.
Thanks in advance

You'll really miss iMessage. Other than that, there's not that much difference (same apps between the two), and there's so much more customization.

@thesebastian thanks for the link, it really helped me understand many things. Really appreciate!
@ajrty33 no I'm not much into iMessages or FaceTime, seldom use it. For messaging I use whatsapp so that's not a problem for me. Also pixel being stock android without any bloatware and timely updates directly from google is luring me towards android, as it'll be close to iOS. That camera on pixel with portrait mode is dope!
Have read in few posts in that article shared by Sebastian that the quality of apps in iOS is better, is this true? If yes then in what ways? App crashing etc?
Most probably tomorrow I'll bite the bullet

You can use selective focus. Will do the trick.
Bump
samsung teased something - I think we are getting this with an early (2018?) update on our s8
I have a dream that one day some awesome dev will be able to port pixel 2's camera and give us the ability to take portrait photos!
just install the new oreo beta and try by installing google camera from apk mirror. If i'm not wrong pixel 2 came out with oreo. Also we can have more chances to make it work because s8 have a dual pixel camera like the google pixel one. I've read somewhere that maybe pixel phone has a second processor to process all the extra info given by the dual pixel camera but i'm not really sure about this. I think someone should make a try and report here..

Your dream came true already!
There are so many threads in this forum if you search it properly..

You can try this one...
Is Google Pixel 3a a good material for LineageOS phone?
Is the camera somehow comparable?
Will she lose the specific pixel camera features like night sight photo mode?
I am planning to get it for the wife. We are using LineageOS for many years now. We are avoiding google as much as possible and trying to get privacy phones on a budget.
Her Oneplus X is getting really old now (2015 phone - for sale now). It looks great and still works just fine but the software issues became an annoyance (no recent updates, apps not working).
Thanks.
Official Gcam from Play Store works fine on LOS so you can just download apk from other source if you dont want use Play Store/Google service
Hey guys, I'm really loving the s22u and oneui 5, but I also love pure aosp, just trying to weigh up the pros and cons..
I LOVE the Samsung camera app, Samsung pay doesn't work for me since oneui 5 update, Google wallet works fine, I use Samsung pass. But other than that what other features would I loose going aosp?? I will miss the camera app especially the 100x zoom, Samsung pass, is there a way I can retrieve the passwords off it and import to Google?
