Random continuous reboots on Unstable OP6 - HELP!!! - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

Hi everyone,
I'd really like some help here.
I have an OP6, 8gb/256GB.
My OP6 suddenly started crashing and rebooting randomly after the update to 10.3.1. It seemed fine before. I did a full factory reset and the problem was not resolved.
It is especially bad when i turn on the lockscreen. So i turned it off and did not turn it on again.
The apps that would crash were random including oneplus launcher, google playstore, and other google apps. the issue remains when I do the factory reset and do not install apps. It is a bit more stable when I do not login to a google account. Even the basic set up leads to multiple crashes and reboots.
The problem continues after i have tried all the steps below.
1) msm downloader to downgrade to OOS9. Worked better, with less frequent reboots, but problem continued.
2) I did a remote session with Oneplus, they installed OOS9. After the install, it restarted, got to the start screen and then rebooted. I was able to complete basic set up. but Problem continued with other apps even though I installed them one after the other and did not enter my google account credentials.
3) did another factory reset and upgraded to 10.3.2. appeared stable but restart was also off as it would reboot every 2 steps in the process. Problem continued
4) I unlocked bootloader, rooted the phone and tried a few roms. With OOS 9 fFastboot, all roms failed to start and put the phone in crashdump mode. I installed the roms using instructions on each rom page. basically, flash the oos, twice, flash twrp, go to recovery, flash rom, flash twrp, go to recovery, flash gapps, flash twrp and then reboot system. When installation failed or rom did not work properly, i would reinstall the fastboot file and then start over.
5) I installed the fastboot 10.3.2 on both slots (tested by booting it from a and then from b). I used twrp 3...18. and flashed pixel rom, bliss rom, lineage os, illusion rom. Lineage and bliss were most stable with little rebooting but the problem still occurs.
6) As of now, I upgraded to the 10.3.2 OOS using the fastboot file. I flashed it twice for good measure. I was able to install my apps and stuff using google setup. But phone is flickering randomly and problem has not been resolved.
I'd appreciate any help to get this good looking phone back to work!

Ur problem is you don't want to format data when switching ROMs (at least not all ROMs) it's safer to just wipe data instead.
Flash OOS
Flash TWRP
Reboot recovery
Flash OOS
Flash TWRP
Reboot system
Complete initial setup
Reboot to recovery
Wipe (not format) data
Flash custom ROM (start here for dirty flashing ROM update)
Flash TWRP
Reboot recovery
Flash custom ROM
Flash TWRP
Reboot recovery
Flash Magisk
Reboot system

Phone bootlooping if i update to CM12, working with CM11S and ColorOS

Hi everyone, i've got my OPO when CM12 still wasn't a thing, and it always did his job wonderfully, i've updated to CM12 when it first came out, then updated it every time a new stable version was out, YNG1TAS2I3 version included (with root access and TWRP). A few days ago, while i was listening to some music with Google Play Music, the phone started to reboot itself for no apparent reason, and after around 10 reboots with random timings, i found out there was a problem with google play services, so i blocked them with Titanium Backup, deleted updates, updated them again, reactivated, and everything went fine.
Yesterday, my phone once again rebooted by itself, but every time it was rebooting, while showing the boot logo, it rebooted again without actually loading android. I first tried to wipe cache, then dalvik cache, then data and system partitions, factory reset, but it kept rebooting no matter what, until i tried to flash CM11S on it. After a few tries and total wipes, CM11S was running with no reboots, and it worked flawlessly, no root, no custom recovery, everything stock flashed from official fastboot images zip.
After that, i tried to update via OTA to the more recent versions of CM11S, no problems so far, but as soon as i updated to CM12 via OTA once again, the phone started to reboot itself after the update, it says "Upgrading Android" like when you wipe the dalvik-cache, and then it freezes for a second, then reboots.
Things i've tried so far:
full wipe and factory reset from TWRP
erase and flash again all partitions
erase and flash again persist partition
flash colorOS and then flash CM12
After flashing the persist partition it managed to work for a minute on CM12, but then it started rebooting itself again, and i've managed to save the last part of logat log , but i'm not sure if it's worth anything to find out the problem! (i can't post it on forum because of the new user link restriction, but if you want to have a look at it, let me know)
So, basically, my phone works only on android 4.x and not on 5.x, I would think some app on it can make it crash, but even after a full wipe it still behaves like this, what could be the reason and how can i try to fix it? thanks in advice!
I recommend you to flash fastboot images of CMOS12 without skipping any file

Issues flashing CM13. Phone keeps rebooting once it gets to CM splash screen

Ok... slightly frustrated here.
Basic issue: Have flashed CM13 (Nightly 5.17.16) along with the latest Gapps. Upon reboot my phone will go to the Cyanagenmod splash screen, appear to load for several seconds, and then restart. It keeps doing this for at least 10 minutes until I turn it off. I have re-flashed a couple times after reloading the backup but no change.
Process I used: First of all my phone already has Android 6.0.1 firmware installed (not sure if that's an issue). I have TWRP setup as recovery and rooted with su 2.52 (and yes I verified the root prior to flashing). To flash I boot into recovery (obviously), factory reset, install cm13, clear dalvik, and repeat process with gapps. I've done this before with older CM's successfully but for some reason I can't get past the CM splash screen.
Any assistance is appreciated. If I have made a completely stupid error in my process or this exact issue is covered in another thread don't hesitate to point that out!!
Thank you in advance.
i was getting the same thing on my 1st flash into 13 from moar rom 7.0 but did some reseach and fixed it by wiping the dalvik and cache before the flash and then installed cm13 and then the gapps 6.0 stock all in twrp and fyi you dont need super su just unlock the developer mode and go to the bottom and turn on root access it made me crash my system after i installed new supersu hope these helps
you dont want to be on a MM baseband. Flash a LP tar.md5 in odin and reinstall CM13

You need to be on 5.0 Lollipop. Custom recovery. Rooted. Then flash the ROM after you Wipe in Twrp

Seeking to solve how to successfully enter the ROM

Can anyone tell me what is the reason for the failure to flash the third-party ROM? The phone has been unlocked, and the twrp that was swiped is twrp-3.3.1-24-I01WD-Q-mauronofrio.img. The method I swiped in is to double-clear and then select the rom to flash in. The flash is successful but the system cannot be restarted Boot, can only be stuck in fastboot, seek solutions
There are a couple of similar threads from people with similar problems. Have a look and see if you can solve your issue. If not, feel free to ask again and provide more detailed information about what you did and what did not work.
Unofficial twrp can be successfully brushed in with adb, and the success rate is also high. The probability of official twrp brushing in is greater, but it can also be brushed in, but the official twrp brush third-party rom is easy to fail, the reason is unclear, unofficial twrp brush It is easy to succeed in the third-party rom, but why can't the boot be stuck in fastboot after the unofficial twrp is flashed into the rom?
Because zenfone6 is the ab partition, I think this may be the main reason for not booting. Is it possible that the two partitions are not flashed into the system, and only one partition is flashed into the system, so it will not boot!
I flashed in the rom twice and couldn't boot. The specific method of flashing the phone is: the mobile phone system is the latest system, first use adb to flash into the unofficial twrp (twrp-3.3.1-24-I01WD-Q-mauronofrio.img), flash in Successfully, the phone automatically enters twrp, and then flashes the unofficial twrp in zip format again (twrp-3.3.1-24-I01WD-installer-mauronofrio.zip), restart twrp, click wipe, and swipe to complete. Click lnstall, select rom, and swipe to complete, and click wipe again to complete the slide. Click lnstall, select rom to complete the flashing, click to restart the system, the phone cannot boot, only fastboot.
The above method can not boot, I connected the phone to the computer and re-brushed into twrp with adb. Note: When I first flashed into twrp, the phone did not restart to twrp, but booted to the official system to restore the factory interface, etc. After the operation of the mobile phone is completed, boot up and enter the desktop. I turned on the USB debugging. At this time, the mobile phone can enter the unofficial twrp. Then I flashed into the rom again, and then did not restart the system. I restarted twrp, but the mobile phone reached fastboot again. What I thought was Restart twrp when flashing for the first time, flash once, so that both partitions can flash into the system, but twrp cannot be restarted, only fastboot!
Guiqiu you guys to solve my problem, can't the phone be broken?

I messed up - stock ROM update via TWRP :(

Hi all,
update: I made update at the end.
My OP7 version is GM1900, so far I was on build 10.0.6GM57BA with Magisk 20.4, but for some time I had 10.0.8 update notification.
Today I decided to update build.
I consider myself as medium experienced user the type that is using rather step by step guides.
But this time I thought I don't need guide cause I should remember how I did update last time. In the meantime I help my son to make homework what was an additional distraction.
I always download full OTA from oneplus.com support but it turned out there was no 10.0.8 (instead there was/is 10.0.7). So I tried to search for 10.0.8 and I found this xda news. As there is a mess with versions and links and I was doing it on mobile Chrome I accidentally tapped Global/India Full OTA
Steps I made:
1.1. Downloading file OnePlus7Oxygen_14.P.29_OTA_029_all_2009152124_ba2424a.zip
1.2. Downloading official TWRP twrp-installer-3.4.0-0-guacamole.zip
1.3. Boot into TWRP.
1.4. Flash twrp-installer-3.4.0-0-guacamole.zip
1.5. Restart to TWRP
1.6. Flash magisk uninstall
1.7. Flash 10.3.5 (India & Global) - OnePlus7Oxygen_14.P.29_OTA_029_all_2009152124_ba2424a.zip
1.8. Flash magisk 20.1 (but forgot to reboot after flashing TWRP it was first mistake I think)
1.9. Ended with 10.3.5 (India & Global) build with stock recovery and without Magisk.
Next I tried to return to GM57BA.
Then the steps I made:
2.1. Downloading official build 10.0.7.GM57BA from oneplus support site.
2.2. Downloading Mauronofrio's TWRP twrp-3.4.0-0-guacamole-unified-Q-mauronofrio.img and twrp-3.4.0-0-guacamole-unified-installer-mauronofrio.zip
2.3. Boot OP7 into fastboot then command "fastboot boot twrp-3.4.0-0-guacamole-unified-Q-mauronofrio.img"
2.4. After phone booted into TWRP I flashed twrp-3.4.0-0-guacamole-unified-installer-mauronofrio.zip
2.5. Restart to TWRP
2.6. Flashed magisk uninstall.
2.7. Flashed 10.0.7.GM57BA
2.8. Flashed magisk 20.4
2.9. Only then I rebooted to TWRP (I think it was mistake).
2.10. Then I saw first problem - there was no lockscreen security with TWRP (unlock pattern).
2.11. Restarted to TWRP again - the same no unlock pattern screen, no access to data partition
2.12. I started to panic and restarted into system.
2.13. I ended with hard bootloop - I mean I can't even do force reset (force reboot) by pressing and holding the Power and Volume down buttons at the same time :crying:
I'm sorry for this long description but I thought it will be helpful to diagnose what I messed up.
Questions and my thoughts:
1. Did I messed up by not restarting after last magisk flash?
2. What to do now? Do I need to wait for battery discharge? Then unbrick using MSM tool?
3. Is there any chance to repair and preserve personal data? I have TWRP backup about 3 months old. Maybe after battery discharge I should go to TWRP and then sideload this backup? Maybe magisk uninstall or stock boot image flash?
Please help
Update:
After battery discharge I managed to boot into TWRP recovery (Mauronofrio's 3.4.0.0)
Then couldn't access /data
But when I switched to Slot B and reboot to recovery situation is back to normal (I guess).
I'm still in recovery scared to boot into system.
What to do now?

To force restart I need to use power button and both volume keys..
To keep TWRP you need to flash rom, then without restart flash TWRP again, then restart TWRP, then flash Magisk.
Likely the r reason why your system doesn't boot is because it can't decrypt your data.
Why this happens I don't know, maybe in the upgrade they changed something related to the exception and then by downgrading again it isn't able to read it anymore.
I would suggest to:
Flash the latest rom.
Flash TWRP
Reboot TWRP
If TWRP then doesn't ask for PIN or password, then I'm afraid you have lost your data. I hope you have a backup.
I'm that case format (not just clear) data -> yes
Reboot TWRP
Then flash Magisk.
Thanks for reply.
Like I wrote in update after changing slot to b I managed to run TWRP with decrypted data, made even new new backup.
I also restarted into system and it occurs I'm still 10.3.5 (India & Global) GM57AA, so everything I flashed in with build 10.0.7.GM57BA was unsuccessful.
I think I messed with changing inactive slot procedure. Noob mistake I need to read about it.

I would suggest do restore your device with msm unbrick tool.
1. From recovery, turn off (i noticed, that when tried to turn off from somewhere else, the device would auto reboot later in downlaod mode)
2. In windows, turn off the connection & open device manager: Get this driver http://download.windowsupdate.com/c..._fba473728483260906ba044af3c063e309e6259d.cab
3. Press volume/down + volume/up, after about 5s connect to pc
4. Your device should show up in device manager, open it and install the driver manuell from step 2 (keep device options open... if fail you need to uninstall the driver before trying again)
5. Now wait for about 40s, if your device stays in download mode, you can open & start the msm tool (leave the options in msm as they are)
6. It will take about 280s, then the device will reboot.... (its normal that it stays longer at the oneplus logo at first start)
MSM Thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7/how-to/op7-unbrick-tool-to-restore-device-to-t3954325
I've also uploaded the 10.0.5OOS Unbrick tool on mega, because android file hosted downloads are so terrible: https://mega.nz/file/ArZFkYpS#Z_rOIwZeYN27IG6L8rOi-yfw8wXGiwvK-uWVDlsmvTI
