Help needed: Minami A20 tablet stuck on boot - General Questions and Answers

Hi, I'm running linux on my laptop, Xubuntu 16.04 64bit and have newest Android SDK, android tools and fastboot installed I also have Qtadb. I have a second SSD with windows 7 Pro 64bit.
For the last 2 months on and off I have tried to revive my old Minami A20 tablet that is stuck on logo. From recovery I can factory reset it and wipe data cache, but no matter how many times I try it is still stuck on logo.
Btw, it came rooted from the factory, but su had to be re-installed, I later made su system file.
busybox is installed too I just don't know which version after all the factory reset.
I did enable usb debug when the tablet was working, but don't know if that is still enabled after factory reset.
I have a full Uberizer firmware backup rom dump but I can't get it recognized in Windows 7 Pro 64bit as other than Alcatel ADB interface and that is not enough for Uberizer to recognize it, I have tried all sorts of usb drivers from Alwinner stock to Google to alcatel and even some generic ones, Also tried the Composite drivers and going to recovery on the tablet to see if that would help.
Uberizer for Windows firmware backup(I can run Uberizer in Wine but it does not have access to the tablet), (There is no working Uberizer for linux), the files are:
boot.img
bootloader.img
data.img
recovery.img
system.img
My problems are the following:
I can't get it recognized correctly in windows due to stuck on logo and incorrect usb drivers / linux(here i can browse some folders but not all and QtADB is not recognizing the tablet correctly nor do ADB from terminal only serial number).
I can't seem to find the correct firmware for this model.
In stock recovery windows 7 recognizes this as Alcatel ADB interface, Uberizer can't see anything.
In stock recovery on the top of everything else it reads:
SDK : MID-A20-Android4.2-V1.3
Android system recovery <3e>
Volume up/down to move highlight;
enter button to select (The interface is touch based scrolling and
Power is enter, the tablet only have Power and Home button, no volume buttons)
The options are:
- reboot system now
- apply update from ADB (also known as sideload)
- wipe data/factory reset
- wipe cache partition
- apply update from internal storage
- apply update from cache
Some research seem to indicate that this is part of the multiple devices called K70 or A70X or A70XH
Ok, I'm not a shark on how to do this so need some guidance, could someone help me out?
adb can show me files by adb ls / but some folders are not opening like:
/vendor
/etc
/system
/init
The rest open:
/config
/cache
/acct
/d
/sdcard
/mnt
/sys
/sbin
/proc
/data
/root
/dev
Funny thing is that Qtadb shows all partitions as empty and can't find any files. I tried Mydroid but that one doesn't even find the device.
adb can find the device and list it as
adb devices
List of devices attached
20080411 device
Qtadb logcat shows:
10:57:42.693 exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory 2 2) -
Hope someone can help me out - thank you
Jan

[DEV]ICS SDK Folio 100 Port

SPECIAL THANKS GOES TO DEXTER AND DERARTEM BECAUSE MAIN ROM BASE IS DEXTER'S HONEYCOMB ROM AS WELL AS SOME FILES FROM FOLIOMOD AND CYANOGEMOD
Other communities have their ICS thread and our should have it
I've been trying to port ICS SDK to Folio 100 but logcat just turn off without any message and when I try to execute some commands from adb shell I get 'segmetation fault' and tablet reboots itself. It's something with boot.img. I'll upload ramdisk from kernel that I am using in port.
Can't upload on Github because on last step it wants password that I don't know. It should be letters and numbers from id_rsa file, right? Anyway, here is recovery flashable package:
Recovery package ==> Tried several times to upload but every uploading is followed by some error
Ramdisk ==> ICS_boot.img(just added lines from Siulmagic ICS porting guide)
First mission: Gettin' to adb to be able to use logcat :::: cleared ::::
Possible fix: Try to get any log like this from fastboot with this:
Code:
fastboot -c "root=/dev/mmcblk3p1 rootdelay=15 rw [email protected] [email protected] vmalloc=192M video=tegrafb console=tty0,115200n8 fbcon=rotate:1 fbcon=font:VGA8x8 usbcore.old_scheme_first=1 debug" boot ICS_boot.img
Consequences: Debug log says that partition table can't be find and that it will reboot for 10sec but after that it show |r4:ffffff| and nothing.
Problem might be that data/cache/system partition is ext4 but it shouldn't be problem.
EDIT: I got a log thanks to Kervala
You got a segmentation fault, because your bionic lib is not compiled with Tegra 2 Errata 657451.
You could try to use bionic (libc.so, libdl.so, libm.so, libstdc++.so, libthread_db.so, linker) from a Tegra 2 ROM.
I had the same problem when trying to run AOSP on Folio 100

Now I have to change some lib files due to installd error.

Might permission have to be changed? Libcutils.so is already included.
EDIT: Changed with one from Honeycomb

EDIT2: I'll try to change all *utils.so files because they're probably linked with kernel.

EDIT7: Problem might be that partitions are ext4 as well as images. I didin't set that in init.rc :::: cleared ::::
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm beginner that have been trying to port some roms to Folio and I learned something from that. Bin and lib files were the biggest problem for me till 2 days ago. I realized that ALL have some connections. Kernel is booting system with some files from bin folder that can be checked in init.rc inside ramdisk from system partition that are controlling system via lib files that exchange information with kernel that have hardware drivers. I looked into SDK dump and Nexus Galaxy dump and found that have to be changed with files from ICS(checked in other ICS ports just in case). Tegra board have some special files that have to be included too. There are other files that I don't know what is their main function and also some executable files that are same on every rom.
In xbin folder I added all files from SDK dump and all exutable files from CyanogenMod dump.
Just copied all apps from Galaxy Nexus although I know that some of them might not work because GN is hdpi and Folio is mdpi device and SDK apps aren't odexed. I only changed SystemUI.apk by adding mdpi folders from SDK dump SystemUI.apk.
I changed whole media folder as well as fonts and just changed resolution in bootanimation.
In framework folder I deleted apache-xml.jar file because I don't know what that do and added mdpi files to framework-res.apk just like in SystemUI.apk because I used NG files that are odexed and it's hdmi.
In etc I didn't do anything special-just added some files.
I used FolioMod files for usr folder and added some new files from NG dump-keymapping for external devices like game pads and bluetooth keybord but don't have drivers in kernel
In vendor I leave only some files from face detection.
I finished lib directory quickly because I was tired, just changed graphics, sensors, bluetooth and tegra files.
Leave tts folder, added all executable files CM7 xbin folder and added other files from SDK dump.
That's it! If you have some suggests or solution for some problem from OP post it here please!!!
Great Jon! Good to see a WIP for our own ICS port I think as everywhere said it would be easier to port an ICS Rom to our Folio when the Source is released. Porting SDK is the hard way if i read right?! But if i can do anything to get this further i'm willing to be your guinea pig .
It's easier than porting source code for someone like me that don't know java and C language.
I don't know things like Java and C too but how can i help porting? I don't think it's easy as pushing a file from one place to another or set a value from 0 to 1 isn't it? So what is needed get adb running?
For my understanding can we use the kernel from cm7 which DerArtem made or is it to different from the needed one for ICS? I wanted to learn/help more but all tutorials i've found are not very useful cause they need knowledge of linux which i don't have much. All i tested were distributions like ubuntu, suse etc. and for these i could search for drivers on Google . Do you have any links/Literature oder know how/where to lern more about linux, android and helping develop?
It is that simple-just pushing files. You can't do anything else with bin and lib files that are main. But you have to know what every file do. I wrote small guide that may be helpfull
How to make ext 2 system.img? With what command?
You got a segmentation fault, because your bionic lib is not compiled with Tegra 2 Errata 657451.
You could try to use bionic (libc.so, libdl.so, libm.so, libstdc++.so, libthread_db.so, linker) from a Tegra 2 ROM.
I had the same problem when trying to run AOSP on Folio 100
ok, thanks

Well done, good to know
Source is out ;-)
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/android-building/T4XZJCZnqF8/WkWhGUYb4MAJ
But it isn't full yet, just dev build. Full will be released after releasing Galaxy Nexus and one more thing:
I don't have skills in porting AOSP-source code.
No one have solution for exec error. I think that kernel can't boot system-can't find system.img. Probbably partitions error. I reformat them for HC but GB wants yaffs2 partitions. How to reformat them? I'll try to make flashable package that contains yaffs2 command that will reformat them. Just like ext4 package in HC 0.4 thread.

Where to find yaffs2 android compatible command?

Do you can format using CWM from CM7? i think that this can format in yaffs2 fs.
I'll try, thanks.
I'll try too since jon told that it could be as easy as pushing files around i try to get this running The CWM from CM7 is the 3.0.0.5 or another version?
I think that version is the lastest.
NOTE: Use GB as a source because libc and other prelinked commands probbably are based on GB one and try to learn what every command and so file do.

So,how does it look?
I realy need it,please!
Can i help with something?
Linker error-gave up from SDK
Fighting with AOSP source code-it isn't that bad, some errors but I generally get help from other, more experienced devs. If you're a dev, you can help.
At the moment I'm stuck with this:

I don't think that it's cpu architecture error because I get same when I try to compile for PandaBoard.

[Q] Android rot, gemilins, kernel segfaults etc...

Hi, I have a transformer infinity, rooted (via copy su over debug) and bootloader unlocked, but running stock kernel plus one update jelly bean (I've never installed any new kernel etc..)
The only reason I updated to jellybean was because apps kept crashing due to a memory allocation error with opengl, a known fault on the transformer. other than that things seemed pretty fast and stable, even if multitasking was non existant.
anyhow, now around 700-800mb of memory is used at startup, background apps get closed even if there is still free memory and usually only if switching between one or two apps and doing very little, the touch screen has stoped responsing (even though evtest on the correct /dev/input (event3) shows that the input device is actually working, when I copy and paste into the browser 99% of the time it pastes at the begning of the text box not the cursor position, frequent pauses, the launcher (homescreen etc..) seem to do nothing for ages (tens of seconds0, even though it's using loads of ram (presumably for caching the graphics... or just for a laugh), staart up time is well over a minute (longer than my wildfire phone from years ago) and I'm getting segfaults fro time to time: wtf is going on, I'm thinkig of wiping and just runniing gnu/linux on the device as android is seriously borked and the few feature rich apps that are on android, well, I'll just have to use my phone for that, at least I get pro apps on gnu/linux not very poor substitutes, if you could even call them that... that's a short list, including the 'mysterious' transformer screen crack that happened overnight with no one around, anyhow here's the segv (yes I had to cut and paste what I'd written so it came in above the segv I'd cut and pasted).

I should add that there also seems to be some major 2d graphics performance issues, for instance GMIP, over tightvncserver, over xrdp, over and xrdp client is about as laggy as a native android painting app which drawing some simple airbrush lines. using top etc.. the xrdp client is CPU limiting the whole lot, using say, 150% CPU, where as tightvncserver and xrdp are using under 30% each (that should be doing harder graphics processing work) and gimp about 10%
there are also lots of other random bugs, for instance if i have the charger plugged in, from time to time, the black and white image you get when the charger plugs in appears on the screen.. sometimes it seems like external storage unmounts too, sometimes the pointer clickins on the screen when I am typing (though this may be the trackpad being annoyingly over sensitive), filemanager wont open flv files, files don't show up when apps try to open pictures or videos (presumably using some built in android cache) though if I use an app that just looks at the files (like vnc or a filebrowser) the files are there and open just fine.

Seems to be typical behavior, unfortunately. Different application types get different kill priorities as far as the lowmemorykiller is concerned. It might just be that it's being a bit aggressive with those apps it thinks it can get away with it on.

I think I've had this experience too, although I don't know if as often. Text selection and cursor positioning do seem buggy and unrefined at times.

If you're using the stock kernel and getting kernel panics, it might be a hardware issue. CPU overheating or memory gone bad. I wonder if there's a port of, or equivalent to, memtest86 for Android/ARM...

This has never worked for me either. I don't know offhand if there's a way to associate files with apps using the stock filemanager.
My wildfire seems to do a better job at keeping backgroup processes running and it even happens with 1gb of swap space enabled, I may try to get a kernel with the feature disabled since even something like catlog get's killed if I'm running another process, all too regurlally.
The kernel panicks seem to be all too consistent for a hardware memory issue, I found that if I start up the device then start doing a lot of typing it seems to trip the segfault. I'll capture a few more last_kmsg tails too see how consistant they are.
It's not the toast message getting 'stuck' it's that it keeps popping up from time to time, say every ten minutes or so if I'm watching a movie on hdmi out and doing nothing else with the device plugged into the charger all that time.

That would be interesting (I'm assuming you mean the lowmemorykiller as the feature?). I can imagine how the system would act without it.

Hmm, virtual keyboard or hardware keyboard, or does it not matter? Either way, let me know about the faults. I used to be pretty good at reading kernel panics, but I'm a few years out of practice. I'd still like to see what the differences are, if any.

Ah! When the screen got cracked, do you think it might have damaged more than that? Maybe the mainboard or the dock connector?

[Completed] Problem with TR976 tablet - loop boot

Hello everyone,
I have a typical problem - my device does not load, because it loops with android logo. It does that because i edited vold.fstab incorrectly, but have the correct lines copy in comments within the file. Problem is i don't have any idea how to enter recovery mode ( if one exist at all ) on the device! I tried most of popular combinations and nothing worked - the device always start to load normally, and loops. Most solutions to this situation is via abd, but abd does not see the device ( i guess because it's not started/not in recovery mode ).
Is there a way to access root or force the recovery ?
All i can say about the device is that there is mt97002_V4 on the digitalizer and TR976V12 on the board. I could use any help with making this work again.
Edit:
Device is running Android 4.2
ABD see the device as 0123456789ABCDEF
I managed to get the device to recovery mode by holding VOL+ and plugging in power supply.
Device does not have shell command.
I managed to get list of some files on it :

[Completed] ZTE ZMAX Z970 stuck on loading screen and Recovery mode

I've tried everything, I wanted to revert from BrokenOS back to the stock ROM, I created a backup but I factory resetted because I thought it would revert back to stock ROM.
The only thing I have access to is the splash loading screen, and recovery mode, resetting wont do anything and whenever I try to flash a rom, it fails, I can't access my SD Card anymore.
I also tried installing a stock rom from the recovery mode, but had so success.
Please help me, I've been trying to fix my phone since yesterday, probably about 7 hours in total.

Camera Reboots

Hello all,
I've gotten a second-hand Oneplus One (my previous Oneplus One had a broken sim card reader) and was surprised to see that this device is having reboots.
The device only reboots itself only when:
1. Either the stock camera or a third-party camera app is launched
2. Flashlight is activated
Usually, after launching any camera app, the device will reboot a few seconds later. This occurs even from third-party apps like Whatsapp or Carousell.
What I've tried:
1. Tried factory resetting the phone itself, but the problem still persist.
2. Clean flashed all kinds of roms, from 6.0.1 to 5.1.1 roms, but the problem still persist. Even the stock rom, oxygenOS and CM12/CM13 have the same issue.
3. Tried changing both the battery and the rear camera module from my old Oneplus One, but the problem still persist.
4. Limiting to 4 processes, but the problem still persist.
5. Used system app remover to uninstall the stock camera app. The replaced stock camera app still have the same issue.
6. Tried playing the camera options too - such as disabling HDR mode, disable RAW formats, and all sorts of stuffs. Still the same.
Any ideas?

I've flashed a 64gb version factory image using fastboot via the link below before, but it didn't help too:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-return-opo-to-100-stock-t2826541
It is a weird issue huh :/ I do suspect the motherboard is faulty, but I couldn't cannibalize it from my old Oneplus One as its sim card reader is faulty too (unless I get someone to solder it). Kinda stuck atm ><
Have you checked last_kmsg or dmesg after the reboot happend?

Unfortunately, I'm not really adept in Android stuffs, so I'm not really sure what is last_kmsg or dmesg are :/
From what I've read, they are said to be kernel and last_kernel logs.
As such, I stimulated a reboot by launching the camera, and used Syslog (an app from Play Store) to get these two logs.
Those logs are attached in the following link below:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_iRT-H2Va6BV2NXb1BqdnM3REk
Hope they are the right logs ><''
Thanks for helping out again!

Yes they are great but i am bad with reading logs. The camera driver trys to move the focus and than suddenly crashes with the following error. You tried already the cm13 nightlys ? Your kernel is some versios behind and maybe it is already fixed. It could be a hardware issue, too.

Sorry for the late reply :/ I've tried flashing other roms with updated kernels, such as the CM13 nightlies with kernel 3.4 from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/one...m-kernel-unofficial-cyanogenmod-13-0-t3242700
The camera still crashes the device after it is being activated ><
Have you tried SultanXDA's build? From the looks of it, I'm 85-90% sure this is a software issue, not hardware (since you already changed the battery and camera) so try Sultan's build. He modded the camera HAL a lot so it might help.
Let us know how it works.

Thanks for the quick reply!
I've clean flashed SultanXDA's build from the link below, both the latest build and the stable build:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/one...m-kernel-unofficial-cyanogenmod-13-0-t3242700
In both builds, my OPO is able to launch the camera and took a few photos. However, after using the phone for awhile, the device will reboot itself again :/
One thing noticeable however, is that the time between the camera launch and the reboot is much longer in this Sultan rom (as compared to other roms like cm13).
I have done the following today, but the problem still persist:
1. Full wipe (includes data, cache, dalvik cache, system and internal memory)
2. Fastboot install stock image from the 'Oneplus One return to 100% stock' forum thread
Upon launching the camera, the device will reboot a few seconds later D:
Just curious - is it possible to uninstall the stock camera and install a third party camera app? It might be a possible workaround through this problem
