Updated to Android 10, see no option to format SD card? - General Questions and Answers

Hi all...
I updated my Sony Xperia XZ2 to Android 10, and I no longer see any option in the storage settings to format my SD card.
I can unmount/mount it, delete files from it, but I see no formatting option.
Has this option gone away with Android 10? Or with Sony's implementation of it? Anybody know how I can force a format?
EDIT: Nevermind, I found it in the "Storage Settings" menu option when I opened the SD card in settings. The "Format" text looked descriptive, and not a link/button.

htc hd2 mail on storage card - wm 6.5

anyone know a way this works properly,
basically the registry has been tweaked to save mail to storage card, but when you reboot the phone the storage card changes to storage card2,
ive disabled sense/touch flo,
nothing else is is booting up in windows mobile
before i reboot though the mail does store on storage card, but when i reboot it makes a folder on the phone memory
how can i stop this once and for all??
manny questions on this but nowhere answers
+1
I have same problem.... no solution ... still working
I don't think there is a fix for this, its due to the way the hardware works on newer HTC devices.
Problem is when booting the phone, the registry is read before the the SD card is ready.
So when the phone reads "storage card" as a location and the card is not ready the phone will make a folder called storage card.
Now when the SD card is finally ready it want to call itself "storage card" but the name is allready taken, so now it names itself "storage card2"
ive sorted this when i had this problem
open up resco file explorer and you'll see that it sees the device memory, storage card and storage card 2. 'storage card' will be empty, so just delete it, then reboot. (dont rename storagecard 2).
when you turn it back on, everythings in order again
Old problem requires new solution
Hi,
This problem is happening in the old WM5 and previous.
The say to avoid the creation of Storage Card before the mounting of the real SD was simply removing the "messaging" application from the Today Screen.
Now, the solution seems to be different.
I hope we can find it soon.

Can you confirm that you have all mails in the storage card?
Please note that only attachments can be moved to Scard without this problem, and it is when you try to move all mails that after a reset the Store card 2 issue happens.

FOUND THE ANSWER!!
After many reboots etc.,
1.Delete the storage card on the device!
2.Eject the storage card on the phone and reinsert (while phone is still on). (check filemanager shows Storage Card Only)
3.Hit Windows Start, go to email, then menu, then options, then storage.
4. Tick "When available, use storage card to store attachments", Click OK.
5.Restart HTC Sense and Voilla all is fixed!
Are you sure your have now all maiLs in Sdcard, or only the attachments?
Hi all,
i found the solution! (actually all post help me find out).
SOLUTION:
1- remove your SD-Card from phone.
2- open file manager, you should see "STORAGE CARD". if you open it, you can see there are some folders for email (inobx.********).
3- delete all. "STORAGE CARD" & "STORAGE CARD2" &...
4- now insert your SC-Card. it will be "STORAGE CARD" :cyclops:
good luck

Move to SD Card option missing?

Huawei Y300-0151
Recently, I reset my phone just to get it sped up and installed the apps I only ever use. But after that, the option to "Move to SD card" is missing under my app manager. It was there before the reset, I could move whatever I want. Now I'm running low on internal storage and I need to move things to my SD. The button isn't greyed out, it's completely gone...!
No, I don't want it rooted. It shouldn't have to be. I even installed App2SD, it shows me all the apps I can move, but when I click them, the button is missing.
jb 4.3 has move to sd card option back

Default Downloads to SD Card

Hi,
Gorgeous new S7 in hand. The first thing I did was put a SD card in, it seems to be working fine however I can't find a way to set downloads to go on the SD card by default.
With internal storage at a premium, can anyone help?
Andy
From your browser > menu > settings > advanced > save content to > sd card
Your camera also has the option to save to SD card
Thanks, that works for the Samsung browser however I tend to use Chrome and there's no (apparent) way to do this within Chrome.
Andy
Thanx
If you weren't worried about Windows being able to see your SD then you could format to ext4 or a few others and
Code:
ln -s real/directory/location/ /directory/you/are/linking/to/
That should work, I know we've symlinked on Android before. I'm trying to think of a practical format that supports symlinks and can still be read by both linux and Windows. If anyone can think of one then we can simply do as above and symlink the internal download folder to one on the sdcard. There's a much more simple solution to your issue however.
If space is the reason you're wanting to do this then I'd simply use adoptive storage or format a few GBs on your sdcard to ext4 and (you'll have to google a bit, it's been a long time on this one) permanently mount it as part of the internal memory. This is effectively what using adoptive storage does.

Data on my SD Card on my Z5 is only readable

I can't edit, remove or format my new SD card.
after I bought a new SD card and moved my backup files from a PC, I connected it to my Sony Xperia Z5 (Android 7 (not rooted)
then a notification came asking to select if I want to set my new SD as internal or external storage and I ignored it.
and from that time it is not allowing me to do anything to it except reading it files (it doesn't even show photos in photos app (just show files in file manager)
anyway I tried formatting it through PC and it keep saying "device is write protected"
tried regedit and diskpart methods and nothing worked.
tried formatting it through other android device and still unable to format it.
any solution?

Question Can't access the formatted SD card as internal or remove it.

I formatted my microSD card as internal storage . I couldn't find the microSD card anywhere in the settings and MIUI can't see it and it's storage system starts to malfunction . when I remove the microSD card MIUI gave me this notification like every Android does but the problem is I can't make MIUI forget the microSD card . how can I make MIUI forget it ? Is factory reset necessary ?
Try the SD card in different device, it might be damaged.
