So I recently did a factory restore on my S3 for verizon after trying to get the ota update, and for some reason when i connect my device to my laptop it will disconnect randomly.
Now it booted to a screen that says firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please use software repair assistant & try again.
The problem is I tried that and it always gets to like 98% and then it says the phone is disconnected. I can't restart the phone as it always goes back to this screen...
I had flashed a stock recovery and did a factory reset, so I'm not sure why this is happening.
I tried to do an emergency firmware restore in kies, but kies won't even recognize my device.
WHAT DO I DO

I have 3 USB ports. 2 are 3.0, 1 is 2.0. If I even try to put it in the 2.0 it won't recognize. It's not the cable pin because I use it for charging and it works perfectly fine.
I've tried doing emergency firmware recovery in Kies but it never completes because it says there was an error. Maybe it's because it won't let me in recovery mode?
Also what is the ODIN method?

Yeah i got it flashed. Turned out that i used an old odin also you have to get a firmware which has the same csc or one that it compatible with your device. Info on samsung csc can be found on the net, look for multi csc codes if you wanna change to software from another carrier.
Sent from my VS980 4G using XDA Free mobile app
Before you start flashing always disable reactivation lock. Othervise flashing may fail.
ODIN won't detect Galaxy S5 G906K [KT]
Hello All,
I've been having the same issues as people in this thread but have been unable to come up with a solution so far. I've tried to the whole battery trick which sometimes works with other Samsung devices but have been unable to solve this problem. It seems that ODIN just won't detect the 906K while it is on the recovery mode window. However if the phone is booted normally ODIN sees its fine.

Can anyone provide some assistance?
Thanks in advance..

So after an entire day of investigation and logging I've figured out that this was an issue related to a carrier update by Olleh (KT). For anyone who runs into the same problem on the SM-G906K I recommend KingRoot as a means of getting started for root. CWM/TWRP are also methods that I tested with success.
I hope this helps someone who has the same problem down the road.
kingroot not working!

Hello
Do you have your bootloader blocked, the new version of firmware enabled this option, you need to go to development options and enable the option of OEM, and that's it, you can flash whatever you want
I have a bricked S8+ stuck on samsumg logo (labeled as SM-G9550 on backside label), but when i boot into download mode, it shows "PRODUCT NAME: SM-G955N", How this could possible, when i check the imei on the web, it result SM-G9550 as product name
flashing "N" firmware with odin result PASS, but still stuck on logo..
i can't flash 9550 firmware as it shows error "Secure Check Fail: PIT"
FYI, when i go to recovery mode, the screen goes to "Kernel Panic Upload Mode"
please help if anyone here has information about it

Try doing the carrier switch method first then downloading and installing the unlocked firmware afterwards via odin. Make sure you download the 955U1 Odin firmware and NOT the 950U. Also can you upload a screenshot of what it shows in download mode

I had the same issues flashing my 8+ . . . pit issues.
I found that a different USB cable worked, and also:
Go to download mode, start odin, load TWRP or other file, press start and then press pwn dwn, bixby and power, Odin will fail, but........
because you you went back into download mode, Odin will succeed next time you flash.
For some reason if I just acknowledged that Odin was going to fail on the first attempt, I kept the phone connected and did the routine, and on the second flash attempt, no more Pit file errors for me.

Hello everyone,
so my phone is soft-bricked after failure attempt to flash combination files in order to fix the csc.
I follow this thread, but the problem actually has nothing with that.
I used the latest patched odin V3.13.1, with a combination file named COMBINATION_FAC_FA80_G965USQU3ARG2.tar, and the proccess failed at flashing the system, and now i'm stuck; unable to flash other firmwares.
Before that, the phone was working perfectly after I've flashed a G965U1 firmware on it, in order to get rid of the bloatware of the original branded G965U (I don't live in the US).
Also, it successfully OTA updated to the latest G965U1UEU3ARK5 Firmware just a few days ago.
Things that I've tried so far with no success:
*Used different usb ports, both usb 2 and usb 3; and different cables
*Using both an Intel-based PC, and an AMD-based. (I know it may sound unrelated, but thats actually what prevented me from flashing the G965U1 fmwr the first time I tried, because i was using and AMD PC)
*Reinstalling Drives, installing latest kies, installing latest samsung smart switch
*using older versions of Odin
*tried to install the original Sprint firmware (v2) G965USQS2ARF4 through odin
*tried to install the G965U1UEU3ARK5 firmware through odin
The phone is stuck in download mode. sometimes if I disconnect and reconnect it, I get an unrecognized usb device message. so I need to reboot the phone again to download mode so the pc will recognize it.
and the result is always a failure:
either due to rev check, with the original OEM firmware
during the installation at 'vendor'/'system' step, due to auth error, when trying the G965USQU3ARG2 Combination file or the G965U1UEU3ARK5 files with patched odin
or even before that step with older versions of odin.
I'm out of ideas... I hope someone here has the knowledge to help in some way, Please...

after writing this post I realized that I haven't tried flashing an OEM rev3 firmware
so I downloaded one after finding out which one is the right file
and I tried flashing it on a completly other pc than the 2 I've already tried it on
and it worked:victory:
here's the recovery after the successful flash:

Hey XDA Members,
Im completely new here, and found this site through google searching.
So yesterday night i updated my Samsung S10 regulary, cause i got a notification that a new update is downloadable, so i did it.
While updating, the phone crashed, and got in "Download Mode".
Since then its in download mode with the following error message in the top left corner:
ODIN MODE (AVB FAIL)
system: Hash of data does not match digest in descriptor. (3)
Root Hash in (system) : 1a32eac088, (VBMETA) : 74e6cee89
Samsung System, G973FXXSCFUH5, 42802073R
VBMETA G973FXXUCFUH3, 42324606R
I tried several things allready. Reset the phone trough holding Volume Down + Power. It just resets and goes directly back in the same screen again. Loading the Recovery mode (doesnt work).
So yeah, i hope someone here can help me
Thanks
Looks like the update you flashed isn't suitable to phone.

It was the normal update, that everyone gets^^
I have similar problem, though my error is:
Code:
ODIN MODE (AVB Fail)
System: Error validating footer. (6)
SAMSUNG system, 6973FXXSCFUH5, 42802073A
VBMETA 6973FXXSCFUH5, 42802073A
(Looks like i've messed up with the region when trying to flash stock Samsung firmware with newer Android version)
I've tried to download and flash another Samsung stock firmware for my region.
Although it didn't work so far through neither of the means:
Heimdall:
It says: ERROR: Protocol initialisation failed!
(Event though the very first time i was able to flash stock firmware using Heimdall; so it is not the problem with USB interface or wire or similar)
And this happens from heimdall-frontend when trying to flush whole firmware or from heimdall cli when trying to flush custom recovery.
JOdin:
This guy has some troubles with big files and constantly throws:
Code:

ADB:
Tried to sideload another Samsung firmware but it fails with similar error:
Code:
E:footer is wrong
I'm wondering what are the options now.
I finally fixed it.
The problem turned out to be the incorrect firmware region indeed.
So, first of all, i downloaded correct firmware (my region was XSG).
(Using samloader).
Then, i had to use ODIN on Windows.
There were some troubles for odin being able to recognize the phone though.
I had to manually install drivers. Also tried couple of different USB ports.
And at the end odin was able to see the phone and i flashed the stock firmware with latest Android 11.
