vendor image for samsung A320 - General Questions and Answers

Hi, where can I find a Vendor.img for the Samsung A320FL?
Why am I asking? I would like to install a Lineage 17.1. And whenever I want to install the Zip with TWRP, I get the error message "faild to update vendor image". This also happens when I come directly from a stock ROM version. I am also not shown a vendor partition in TWRP.
Or how do I fix the problem. I can easily install a Lineage 16 or an RR7.0.2.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,
You need to flash the repartition script and then reboot back into TWRP, see the official forum post here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/sa...evelopment/unofficial-lineageos-17-x-t4054921

Ultimate Guide for Flashing GSI For Kuntao ( Lenovo P2A42 )

Ultimate Guide for Flashing GENRIC SYSTEM IMAGE.
Contents:
Intro
how to flash gsi.
how to get rooted.
gapps issues
how to get back to non treble rom from gsi or treble enabled builds.
Introduction and basic information:
GSI means Generic System Image, which can be flashed over any Treble Device.
So, in simple words : same System.img can be flashed over multiple devices having Treble Support.
This happens as we now have a separate /vendor partition where all the vendor hals are stored.
Now, this will help to do easy bring ups, Treble builds are smooth af y'all know that and you'll get to flash aosp treble rom
Also, if you own 2-3 treble devices, now you'll just have to download one system.img xD it'll work for all of em ( if treble supported )
How to get Treble Support?
Flashing Treble TWRP won't give you treble support. Keep that in Mind. It'll just mount the partition in the recovery, so that vendor img can be flashed.
To get Treble Support, you'll need to flash a latest ROM which has vendor image compiled with the latest changes by mikeNG, once you flash such a ROM, you'll get the vendor stored in the vendor partition, and after that you can flash any GSI ( as it's just System.img, and all our device specifics are in /vendor so it won't mess with that)
Instructions:
Download Official LineageOS-15.1 treble enabled build from here
Download treble enabled twrp from here
Move both the downloaded files to external sd card (recommended)(optional)
boot in twrp
move to wipe option from twrp.
advanced wipe.
select data and then check if its in ext4 if not format it to ext4 ( do this from official twrp by @celoxocis )
then go to install and install the recovery provided above.
reboot to recovery.
wipe system, data, dalvik, cache & internal storage recommended.
install the lineage os zip and reboot.
download GSI of any rom of your choice. if it is in zipped format extract it and make sure you have a *.img
boot into twrp
wipe anything other than boot, micro sd & vendor
go to install option and then select install image button on bottom right corner
select the gsi of your choice which you have downloaded and install it on system partition.
reboot to recovery (important)
flash mind the gapps if you are going to use gapps in your rom. ( important open gapps have a few issues on treble like many of times gapps dont get flashed or shows some error)
reboot
Kudos you have now flashed a Genric System Image on your Lenovo P2.
for how to get rooted with magisk refer to next post.
and List Of GSI is available here
if you have any doubts even after reading this ultimate guide feel free to post it i will try to answer it and help you with that.
after following instruction as mentioned above
* download the magisk from here
* flash it normally.
A list of GSI and download links can be found here.
https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/wiki/Generic-System-Image-(GSI)-list
Only A arm64 gsi are supported well on our device and based on arch of our device
how to get back to non treble rom?
* Download the non treble rom your choice
* boot into twrp do wipes as suggested on rom's thread and then flash the rom package no need to mess with vendor partition.
I have managed to flash Dirty Unicorns Rom and its working pretty much well.
Here are some screen shots.

I'm on codeexilir's twrp, can't I use that twrp to flash official los 15.1 to get vendor image and then flash any GSI. Or it is mandatory to use los twrp?

Both are already on ext4.
After flashing gsi got decryption unsuccessful error. How to solve that?
something is very wrong......
First if I flash lineage then any other gsi like pixel experience, it gives me decryption unsuccessful error.... I'm not even able to format the storage to remove encryption. I did format the encryption using an older version of twrp as the twrp provided for treble gives an error like ''
Unable to format data. Unble to remove encryption
-Now When I formatted data using earlier twrp and hen flashed the treble one and then flashed lineage. Booted and it still encrypted my phone. So the loop goes on again.
I dont know whats wrong. Treble flashing should be easy... been awake since last night trying to make it ork by using different combinations but no luck.
can anyone help?
Is there any way to enable volte in GSI?

cant install any OS

Hi guys
So i created quite a mess here..
Device:
Mate 9 L09C432
I had RomAur B197 installed.
Then i tried to somehow get to oreo.
I was able to flash the newest oreo stock firmware with HWOTA tool and it worked but it was unrooted & locked i guess.
So i unlocked it again and flashed twrp 3.2.1-0 fromfuture edition.
Seems like the data was decrypted, i just saw strange filename, so i wiped data, what actually helped.
Unfortunately this somehow broke the system and starting the os caused a bootloop.
Then i discovered that MTP was not working in TWRP so i flashed TWRP 3.2.1-0 by Pretoriano80.
With this recovery MTP was working so i tried to flash an OS somehow.
I tried to flash the stock firmware again with HWOTA8 but it failed at the update.zip
Manual flash in twrp also fails for that update.zip.
I also tried to flash a treble rom from a german forum.
After that twrp was not starting anymore (bootloop).
So back to twrp by fromfuture where MTP is not working, good that i have an SD card.
And i once wiped system because the space was 0mb after that it was fine again.
TWRP gives the following for the update.zip file:
Code:
...
write radio image...
check_write_data_to_partition,write data error update_huawei_pkd_from_ota_zip: update package from zip failed.
E:unknown dommand [errno]
update process ended wit ERROR: 9
Error installing zip file...
So yeah im a bit out of ideas..
Any ideas are welcome
Thanks
Your mistake is trying to flash a custom rom using TWRP. Most treble/Oreo roms can not be flashed with TRWP. Upgrading to Oreo changes the partitions on the device and that may have caused your issue. My advice would be to download the Huawei update extractor and your current firmware. Open up the extractor and extract the recovery ramdisk. Flash the stock recovery via fastboot. Once you have the stock recovery back. Download the Carbonromv4 from openkirin.net and flash that. That you should get you back up and running. Search XDA for how to install a generic treble system img or check the support page on the Openkirin site for instructions.
Thanks for this advice, everything worked
It was that easy but I just didn't know before..
anyways thanks a lot!

Glad to hear it worked for you! The treble roms work really well and if you are looking for a better camera try the P20 camera port. You will have to re-flash TWRP to install it, but you can then flash the stock recovery back.

Thanks for the answer.
Which recovery have you used? Stock or twrp?
If you run Oreo, can you tell me which partition can be mounted?
On pie I have 2 system partition: system and system_root and I have lots of problem to install gapps.

I get this error message when I try to install Pico gapps on Android 9:
INSTALLATION FAILURE: Your device does not have sufficient space available in
the system partition to install this GApps package as currently configured.
You will need to switch to a smaller GApps package or use gapps-config to
reduce the installed size.

You may have to reflash system partition or just flash firmware though local update in settings and try again if that doesn't work try flashing update though twrp

At first: backup data and phone memory.
You can do local update (download from official web site oneplus https://oxygenos.oneplus.net/OnePlus6Oxygen_22_OTA_045_all_2004142201_bdd6fdc6b6b1477f.zip, v.10.3.3 or from nonofficial sites 10.3.4, copy to phone memory, main directory, go to settings and system update, make local update - and choose copied file from phone), next after update and restart, do wipe cache, restart and you will see what happend.
Try to read oneplus guide:
How to upgrade system?
Download the software build for your device on this page. Please back up your data before flashing your device.
Plug your phone into your computer and copy the downloaded .zip to your phone’s storage. If you’re using a Mac, you can install Android File Transfer Android File Transfer for this operation.
After the .zip file is copied to your phone, go to 'Settings' - 'system update', click the 'settings' icon on the top right corner, choose 'Local upgrade', find the .zip file and click on 'Install' to confirm.
The update takes about a minute (depending upon the file size), once done reboot your device to boot into the latest Oxygen OS.

RROs + firmwareupdate

Hello Guys, I need some help: I installed Resurection Remix v8.6.6 with the fw V12.0.7.0.qjgeuxm and would like to update it to V12.0.8.0!
The Rom is encrypted, however!
What steps do I have to carry out to cancel the encryption and flash the new firmware?
Many thanks in advance
greetings
H0rdak
if you only want to flash firmware 12.0.8 flash this in recovery and you don't need to do anything else, reboot to recovery just to be on the safe side, then reboot to system...
on the other side, if you want to reflash whole 12.0.8 SW base, that's another case...
THX JERYLL, you're a great help again !!!!
Okay, I mean, I transfer the FW zip file to the phone and install it via Orange Fox?! I still did not understand that with the encryption as explained in the RR thread! Can I easily flash the ZIP file?

yes either download or transfer, then flash in recovery, I did it yesterday, so its safe to do
thanks jeryll,
i have done it now and the system has displayed an error message at the vendor! Do you know whether the update was successful anyway, and where can I read which fw is now installed on the phone ?!
if you did flash only firmware part of 12.0.8 you can't see it in system as a regular update as you only updated drivers which allow to communicate between SW and HW, so when you start up OFOX, on its initial screen you can see the number of the last flashed whole MIUI ROM (for example if before flashing custom ROM you were on MIUI 12.0.6, then flashed RR 8.6.6, now updated only fw part of 12.0.8, your system will still be shown as 12.0.6...
If you are hunting this new number 12.0.8 and not pure functionality, you'll need to reflash full recovery version of MIUI 12.0.8 EU, that will reflash most of the needed components on your phone including vendor and product and then you'll see that number in OFOX. But because in the process your original custom ROM will be overwritten with MIUI, you'll need to reflash RR + GAPPS + Magisk too before you reboot in to system...
Thx, but can I assume that the update has now been carried out successfully, even if this vendor error has occurred?
what vendor error? if your system is booting and working ...
its said: "Failed to mount '/vendor' (invalid argument)" , writen in red !
if it's not showing permanently, all should be okay
Thank you Jeryll !!
Jeryll, a last question that has nothing to do with the firmware topic in itself: My RROS (8.6.6) is encrypted. If I want to update to 8.6.7, should i decrypt first or can I just flash the new update via recovery?!
just dirty flash 8.6.7 over 8.6.6 and reboot to system, check if playstore is working and if magisk is present (optional depends on you using google stuff and root) if needed reboot to recovery, reinstall gapps and magisk ... that should work... I was unable to do clean flash of RR on decrypted storage...
Jeryll, you made my day again !! Many Thanks!!!
Greeting H0RDAK
