recovery.img for T-mobile oneplus 7 pro - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

i have looked everywhere.
i am trying to find the stock recovery for oneplus 7 pro
- t-mobile version (if required)
10.0.1 oos
Honestly this phone has been the worst experience ever.
From t-mobile not allowing me access to files to fix my device, to forums being dead, sluggish and from several developers not caring about the issues others experience. to a single phone with 7 different variations. and the one I'm stuck with has 0% help.
ive seen multiple request for these files to go look and see "nvm i just flashed international rom..."
honestly it should be illegal for companies to not provide these files.

That is because you are looking for something that does not exist. This phone doesn't have a recovery partition. On A/B partition devices, the recovery resides on the boot.img partition (along with kernel and ramdisk). The A/B partition scheme is very confusing if it is new to you (as it is to a lot of folks). You can possibly fastboot flash the stock boot.img partition, depending on what exactly you are trying to accomplish.
I don't buy carrier branded phones anymore, for some of the reasons you are experiencing. Converting the T-Mob 7 Pro to be "international", seems to be a pretty popular thing.

This device is far from being "dead" the most common thing to do with the T-Mo version is to flash the international ROM. The only thing people do on the T-Mo ROM is to SIM unlock, thus allow bootloader unlocking, then go right back to the international ROM.

i have had to many issues with international that i msm back to tmobile.
i just didnt want to lose everything over an over doing this when things go wrong
i believe i have dumped the boot.img
i just hope it works when i do need it again.

Here's what I did whenever T-Mobile update to Android 10.0.1 I downloaded the OTA Update from off the internet then extracted it on my desktop then I used the payload-dumber-win64 to get the recovery and boot.img to use Incase I needed them. I used the extracted boot.img from the payload-dumber-win64 and followed instructions on how to use magisk patcher to patch my own boot.img. search Google for the T-Mobile update then use the tools to extract the whole thing.

Do you have the US Retail version XT1527?
I'm interested to know whether this works on other moto e lte variants.
I updated the fxz to exclude the bootloader to prevent any potential bricks; so anyone with an unlocked bootloader can flash this and still be able to flash back to any 5.0.2 build without any issues.
Just be sure to have the fxz for your device standing by before trying.
Also renamed the other files, adding the prefix "surnia" to the title to avoid any potential confusion...

my version is XT1524, europe retail LTE
Fastboot file now includes only logo, boot, and system.
Radio and bootloader can be installed using separate flashable zips.
It is recommended to flash radio and bootloader only on devices for which they were intended; logo, boot, and system are safe to flash on any unlocked hardware.
best rom is this stock 5.1 so far, more fluide and battery life
i like stock kernel, cpu is more able to stay at low frequencies, phone more able to stay cool.in CM/aosp it's not the case
Sadly, this phone doesn't have much development, but this is what I've been looking for, I think.
What I understand is that this works like any ROM, right? I can have a backup of my current ROM and flash this and if anything goes wrong I restore and that's it? This doesn't mess with the radio, recovery nor bootloader, so it doesn't matter that my phone is a Retla one with CID 12, as the ROM doesn't mess with that. I make several questions as I bricked my last phone by trying to flash 5.1 firmware with the bootloader unlocked, so I want to be careful. After all, if something goes really wrong, I'll always be able to flash stock firmware.
This is the best ROM I've used (XT1527) so far. I had to wipe the data and let google restore most of my apps to stop Gapps crashes, but it was worth it. I didn't install the radio, bootloader, or recovery zips and am having no problems at all. Re-rooting was easy and Xposed and its modules are working well. All the minor problems I had with AOSP are gone. This is my daily driver.

What's your phone model? What do you mean, when you say you let Google restore your apps?
My phone is the Moto E 2015 LTE Retail US (XT1527). I'm using the google backup/reset in settings and it appears that it backs up non-system apps and restores them on installation if you let it. The associated passwords with the apps, however, had to be re-entered manually. What is restored is:
Google Calendar settings
Wi-Fi networks & passwords
Home screen wallpapers
Gmail settings
Apps installed through Google Play (backed up on the Play Store app)
Display settings (Brightness & Sleep)
Language & Input settings
Date & Time
Third-party app settings & data (varies by app)
Will this work for the xt1511 variant? I have it unlocked, but i'm having trouble getting a custom recovery on it to begin with, and it's not receiving and OTA to 5.1 which is annoying me.

It's highly unlikely it will work and I wouldn't recommend trying it.
But if you're determined, make sure one of these works first so you can recover if necessary:
http://motofirmware.center/files/category/45-moto-e-2nd-generation/
Then flash only the main fastboot zip from the op which includes logo, boot, and system; do NOT flash bootloader, radio, or recovery zips.
on boost mobile version xt1526. flashed the main file but could not get data to work and the boost mobile file from the motofirmware page fails to install on twrp
Retail Fastboot from Carrier
Hi, I'd like to know if by getting this fastboot, being Retail and overriding what's currently installed (Carrier's) it would allow me to carrier unlocking it? Also; if I get this; would my updates come directly from Motorola instead of having to be approved and released by my carrier?
I do have a XT1527 that came directly from my carrier.
Thanks in advanced.

This fastboot requires an unlocked bootloader, and the carrier versions don't have unlockable bootloaders afaik.
Even if you are able to unlock your bootloader, flashing this fastboot will not remove carrier lock if it is present.
Ota is determined by sim, even on the retail version, afaik.
Works well on xt1524 eu.
So far the best voice quality, and the most stable firmware.
Just a heads up, I will be removing the op and the files soon.

At&T/Cricket,verizon doesn't allow bootloader to be unlocked, which is really sad and there should be a law passed that prohibits them from doing that. Us consumers that pay good money for these phones should not have to be locked or prevented from doing what we want with them. I don't understand why it hasn't been illegal yet.
The sprint,Boost, and consumer cellular Models should have unlockable bootloaders and the Moto dev site should provide the codes
Hi. Could anyone point me at a working download link for this stock retail rom? OTA for 5.1 isn't yet available in Spain (xt1524) but i can't seem to find any copy of the ROM around XDA or anywhere else...I Know Q9Nap deleted it, but i hope someone uploaded it somewhere else.

GM21AA OOS 9.5.6 update: how can I keep root?

Hi again everyone, title pretty much says it all. I'm not too great with rooting, so I was wondering if I can keep twrp, magisk and root from 9.5.3 and download and install the new 9.5.6 OTA update for the GM21AA OP7 Pro, or if I'll have to do separate steps to be able to keep root. The update is 178MB
Don't do like me. I updated to 9.5.6, rebooted and update went ok, but I lost root. Thought there would be a patched boot image already but havent found one.

Just open the downloaded ota, rip the boot.img from that file. Patch manually in magisk that boot.img. Then install the update, and reboot afterwards to fastboot mode. Flash the patched img and you are done.

Post 6 in this thread is how I did it and retained root, but I lost TWRP (I knew I would before doing it) I used the steps used for the OnePlus 6t for rooted users, knowing I would lose TWRP.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/help/t-mobile-converted-to-9-5-4-received-t3934761
These are the steps for the 6t for TWRP users but I know TWRP is having decryption issues so I'm not sure if the below will work.
1. Boot into TWRP and Flash the Latest Magisk Uninstaller
2. Flash the latest Full Oxygen OS Zip
3. Flash the TWRP installer Zip
4. Reboot to RECOVERY to make sure TWRP stays and continue to root.
5. Flash the Latest Magisk to maintain root
6. Reboot System and Enjoy the latest firmware without any data loss

A partial ota with unlocked bootloader will brick your phone. Download the full zip and update in TWRP if you have it. If bootloader locked, install as normal, wait for it to finish and ask to reboot, don't reboot and open magisk manager and install to inactive slot. Reboot. That process will cause you to lose TWRP if you have it. If you have TWRP, flash full ROM in TWRP, flash TWRP.zip, reboot recovery and flash magisk.zip.
This way is easy and painless.
Yep performed the system update as well. It saw I was rooted and proceeded to download the full OTA. I let it update, did not reboot. Went to Magisk and Install to Inactive Slot(After OTA) and all is well. Im still rooted.
Posted by another user and the way I just did 9.5.6. Yes you will lose TWRP as usual if installed.

So dumb question here since I'm sorta new with this device (I've had Samsung and other devices that I've rooted so I'm aware of the basics).
Where do I download the entire fastboot zip files for say 9.5.6.GM31CB (TMobile variant)? I can't find it on OnePlus or T-Mobile. Also side question, do we still need to use Chinese certain of TWRP to get decryption working for internal storage? Thank you for whatever info you can provide.
I wonder, is there a patch for 9.5.6 yet? Let's say I have a locked bootloader now and stock on 9.5.6, how would I go about rooting my device? Or will I have to wait for the patched boot.img?

Not if you unlock it, install magisk and patch the boot image within the app. I'd suggest looking for full zip of 9.5.6 just to use in case.
Which TWRP are you guys using? I see there is a Chinese version with decrypt working. Is that one safe?

There doesn't seem to be any fastboot ROM for the T-Mobile variant nor any Full OTA zips yet. Just have to keep looking in the PRO Guides, News and Discussion section. Personally I would not use that version of TWRP. Im waiting for the other TWRP by Maurinofrio to get Decrypt working.

So weird they claim they are as friendly to developers as pixel yet I don't see links to firmware. Not sure if I'm going to even bother rooting without backup of a full zip with all images inside. I guess I could get 9.5.3 and then do a few upgrades to get back to 9.5.6 but I'd rather have full file for 9.5.6.GM31CB

They are as developer-friendly as Pixel phones, (when you buy unlocked directly from OnePlus) not the T-Mobile version. Buy a Pixel from Google it OEM unlock to unlock the bootloader, buy a 7 Pro from OnePlus it's OEM unlock to unlock the bootloader.
In addition about you going to 9.5.3 and then upgrading to get back to 9.5.6
The 9.5.6 you're currently running on the T-Mobile version is not the same as 9.5.6 on the unlocked version. The unlocked version is a few builds newer.
If I were you I'd wait till the MSM tool that works with the T-Mobile version is released.

Msm tool? I'll get an unlock token Friday. Why would I need that? Newer than 9.5.6.GM31CB? I don't think so. This includes April security patch. I'm guessing the only big difference is the radio image is different for TMobile. Again I'm new to this mfgr so I'm trying. They aren't making it easy for me. I have an unlock phone. So shouldn't matter if I got it from T-Mobile. I can OEM unlock. So I can manipulate at will. Trouble is I'm scared I'll break the phone since I don't know this line of Android devices. I considered changing this to international but afterwards in worried it'll not work well in T-Mobile

There are a lot more changes in the international 9.5.6 GM21AA then that. they optimized double tap to wake and ambient display, fixed Bluetooth headset delays, camera updates, and other things.
The T-Mobile version will always be behind on software verse the international version.

That's the main reason everyone with the T-Mobile version is trying to unlock their bootloader, so they can run the international software. T-Mobile's software will always be behind the unlocked version. 9.5.3 for the unlocked version had the April security patch, that was three versions ago.
I owned the T-Mobile version of the 6t and the unlocked version of the 6t, the reception was the same.
My T-Mobile 7 Pro is unlocked running the international GM21AA software on T-Mobiles network. I uninstalled the Renovate Ice ROM for the screenshot so you can see I have the same model number as you running GM21AA.
But currently if you mess up a T-Mobile version there's no way to get it back because the MSM tool for it is not available yet. If something goes wrong you might be stuck with a phone that doesn't work until it's released.

Thank you for your feedback. It's helpful to me. I am guessing an msm tool is something that puts stock firmware onto the device fresh in case you brick it. Couldn't I just fastboot flash 9.5.3 full package which I think is downloadable within OnePlus support?

Correct about the tool, returns the phone to 100% stock out of the box. Not 100% sure about whether or not the fastboot flash would fix a soft bricked device. That could possibly work.
But I know currently it's impossible to go back to T-Mobile software without the tool.
has anyone contact oneplus support either via email and chat and requested full ROM download links?
theyre pretty helpful like that.

Question Oneplus 9 LE2117 root process(T-Mobile)

With the differences between the EU, Global variants, and software versions listed in the threads I've gone through, I am having trouble finding a guide that I am sure would be applicable to root my Oneplus 9 LE2117 11.2.5.5-LE54CB. (T-Mobile)(US)

Thanks for the response. I believe that's the last step I have to complete to be done, but that is where I seem to be getting lost. I can't find a boot image for the specific model and software numbers I have. From the threads I have read I think I could use the boot image for software version 11.2.2.2 but I am uncertain.
I went ahead and used the boot.img for 11.2.2.2 and it looks like it worked.

You need 11.2.5.5 boot.img from any region. Then follow the instructions install magisk.
just use the AA image for tmobile. patch the image with magisk the file will go to your download file then fastboot boot the img file from the one get from magisk after patching and you will gain temp root. direct install with magisk and reboot. if you get into a bootloop. reset devices from recovery and you will still retain root after the reset. i have installed empty slot ota and direct install. bootlooped on ota empty slot but reset from recover fixed problem instantly and retained root. direct install no bootloop retained root.
Does anyone care to comment with insights or experiences in regards
to Rooting with Magisk which will allow for the installation on a Custom ROM at a later time -
that is, when a stable Lineage OS for example is available for the OP-9 (t-Mobile) ?
Thank You in Advance !
I doubt it but anything is possible. with the process to convert to different variants being fairly simple and accessible there will be very little focus on that particular software. It is compatible with gloabal pathched boot image to gain root and from there your pretty much able to customize to do what ever your heart desires.

Need help here! I forgot to backup my oneplus 9 pro LE2127 when I tried to root my phone using TWRP,and I installed TWRP in my phone's boot partition which wiped out all data in that partition. Used MSM tool backe to T-Mobile 11.2.5.5 and still same problem, sim card can be read but no signal. Flashed T-Mobile modem but modem b failed, it says no such partition.
Bought this phone from third party. Any suggestion is appreciated.

Question T-mobile oneplus 9 (LE2117) has an unlocked bootloader now?

Hello all, after lurking here for a while, I found something that's making me post.
I have a carrier locked OP9. I just received the update to Android 12, and it has broken critical features. (Particularly not being able to stop apps from being closed accidentally!)
I have looked at Lineage OS in the past, and the process to get the LE2117's bootloader unlocked was... complicated.
However, while trying to fix other problems, rooting around in the developer options, I noticed that "unlock bootloader" was actually toggleable!
I think I have an unlocked bootloader now, but it's on android 12, and all the guides for rooting and installing a custom MOD for this phone say you must revert to android 11 before anything else.
So what now? Am I waiting for lineageOS 19 to come out, because that's the one based on android 12? I'm new to custom roms, and don't get the coding side of how all this works. (But I'm pretty determined to figure this out.)
Thanks for any help or advice you've got!
each stock update has a new firmware right now atleast all the roms are based on a11 latest firmware im not sure since oneplus got a12 if roms will switch to the newer firmware here is to hoping!
Gotcha, thanks. So waiting for lineage 19 it is, it sounds like, since that one is based off android 12.

I am pretty sure there is root for 12. All you need to do is dump the payload from the 12 update OnePlus let's loose, and patch it with magisk and flash it via fastboot. Via bootloader it is easy I am using a TMobile OnePlus 9. All you need to do is revert back to 11 via a msm tool. There is a post here for that. After downgrading to unlock your bootloader is easy only takes time. There is a post for it I don't remember all the details but all you have to do is get you imei code and email OnePlus. Soon they will sent you a code to fastboot flash to unlock the bootloader. After that most of these 12 work for us on our model phone. I am using evolution x. It tells me every day I can go to 12 .

I've run into this same issue with wanting to use a Custom ROM. I have the T-Mobile version on A12 and it's now rooted. Another user shared the patched image file with me. I flashed it with fastboot boot boot.img then direct installed through Magisk to gain root. But all the custom roms here require A11 downgrade through the MSM tool and you have to use an MSM tool for T-Mobile, which was shared with me and explained but I'm not willing to downgrade. Until a custom ROM releases that I can flash on top of A12 I won't use it. I've had bad experiences with MSM tool to recover from brick and didn't succeed and had to send back to OnePlus for repair.

It amazes me how many people have problems with the MSM Tool. I was afraid I was going to have problems after reading all the issues people have had and had zero and I've used it twice. Both times I just put the phone in EDL and connected it to the USB-C port on my tower. Windows 11 surprisingly didn't even give me any issues.

I can't get my phone to go into EDL mode. Ever. Took every suggestion I've read. It just never went into EDL mode

What worked for me was shutting the phone off, removing my case, holding both volume up and down, then plugging the phone in. The screen won't show anything, you have to look at the MSM Tool and see that it's connected to know you did it right. Both times I tried it worked perfectly.
You can also use adb reboot edl if you can get the thing to boot and have USB debugging turned on.

How To Guide Edge 2021 (unlocked) special flashing guide

You can manually update to latest Android 11 (April patch)
Bootloader unlock may be required.
Download the ROM https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmwar...-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_cid50_CFC.xml.zip
Unpack the zip and enter bootloader (turn the phone off and press and hold volume down and power it on)
Flash everything EXCEPT radio.img. Failure to do it will result in NO SIM error!
Everything is better with this version ROM. Do not update to Android at this time because it's a mess.
I manually upgraded to A12 on my XT2141-2 as soon as I was able. The only issue I've had was SIM not detected with 1 specific Lsposed module enabled, disabling that one module resolved that though. And ofc not having Gravity Box yet kinda sucks but I've had a blast with new theming possibility with A12 thanks to Repainted and Project Themed apps.
Could you elaborate on any issues you experienced yourself?
Sorry to have to ask this, but what happens if I somehow screw things up? unless I'm mistaken there's no TWRP for this phone (yet) to help with recovery...and how might I go about backing things up before I try to flash a new ROM build on my device? (Still new to things)
edit: addition: probably a stupid question, but I've only ever flashed the `boot.img` file, am I supposed to "fastboot flash" every file over?

No. Everything I've read states that Verizon Phones are hard-locked-down and cannot be rooted, unless there exists or is discovered at some point in the future an exploit to crack such phones. Sorry if that means you're out of luck.
I believe the preferred way of having a rootable phone is to always outright purchase it independently of any carrier. I purchased mine unlocked at a Best Buy.
In case anyone is reading this and getting a 404 on the OG post link for the ROM I found it under this updated link.
