Unit checks all the boxes but is it a good buy - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

I need some help with my first Android radio buy, so i ask my question here.
Want to buy this Fongent PX6 (RK3399) 4GB/64GB universal 2 DIN unit, Its got everything i want including all the connections i need.
Its was not my first pick, as i was looking for one of the more common mentioned units that i fount after my primarily research, but this unit got all that i need and is reasonable cheap, and got 5x USB, a plus but not a must, if there are reasons i should not get this unit.
These are all the parts i wane buy for the build, maybe there are some comments on the parts i picked.
(This are the parts listed in the link above, but the link dose not work all the time.)

And these are the units connections.
The questions i am left with after 2 weekends research:
Do you have normally root access to these units, at minimum wane install a firewall, but a upgrade path would be nice.
Can you install different ROMs?
Unit comes with a Toyota cable set, are these standard connections for all normal Toyota models. (Have a Avensis 2007 / model type T25)
Can i keep using the controls on the wheel, or do i need a extra box?
Can you record 2 USB DVR streams at the same time on the unit? (would be nice extra)
Are the USB DAB+ dongles similar in quality, or is it, you get what you pay for.
Lots of questions, but Android car is not your standard PnP drop in unit.
Any questions people can help me with would be appreciated, greetings Michael

[Q] Chinese ISC 4.0.3 tablet issues

Hello. I took a gamble and purchased a no name tablet off ebay. It said it has Android 4.0.3 OS, WiFi, FM receiver and GPS. I was going to use this device as a car pc of sorts but I need a couple things to work that I just cant get figured out. The module in my car either has to be connected with bluetooth or WiFi (ad hoc). Also the FM feature will only transmit to a radio and not receive radio stations. It just gets an error and closes the app. Also the GPS has been searching for satellites for about 2 hours now and never gets connected. Is there any way to fix the Rom or kernel to get these items working? I have also tried connecting a bluetooth dongle via USB? The device is rooted.

Allwinner (A10 & A13) is a relatively new entry in chinese markets (from 2011).
Allwinner provides the standard Android and Linux sources to OEMs and are available open online.
github.com / allwinner-ics
github.com / amery / linux-allwinner
But both GPS and FM are external peripherals as far as Allwinner is concerned. Hence both the hardware and software details will have to be obtained from the OEM for your tablet.
I will try emailing the seller to get these details. Is there any way to view the chip on the motherboard to tell what it has? Or maybe find out another way in the software?
I finally got the device connected to the gps and it found my location (even though its about 100 feet off) I would still appreciate help either identifying the device or help finding a way to connect it to the device in my car.
Thanks again.
Here are some pics of the device:

MTCD Device Identify

Hi Guys and Girls,
So I've just bought a 2010 Ford Focus and purchased a radio from the good old gumtree out of a salvage motor, mondeo I believe as it came with a mondeo labeled canbus decoder.
The radio is brilliant just a tad slow as it only has 1GB of RAM im guessing.
I've attached a few pictures of the unit and it's specs and software versions from the about page and wondered if anyone could fully identify it and point me in the direction of any custom ROMS or updates that might enhance the performance/sound of the device?
Many thanks!
Dan

Its a px3 device. Maybe the best you could do is change the coreboard for a px5 or px30 if possible. 1gb ram is really limiting and the px3 is maybe 5 years old and not that powerful.
You can try roms for px3, but don't expect miracles.
Would it be as simple as just ordering a px5 or px30 board and it working after installing it?(I've looked this up before) also should I opt for one with android 9 installed as I don't want Bluetooth compatibility issues which I've read are with android 10 if i remember correctly?
@pythoner Could you also please point me to where I could find a suitable coreboard for my device as a lot of them on aliexpress state that some will not support the current bluetooth or WiFi device I have installed?
Many thanks!
@pythoner
I have also discovered my device has the MD725 Bluetooth module installed and would this work or could I find a PX5 coreboard and downgrade its android version to say 7 for it to work again as I don't want to lose this functionality.
Thanks
Depends what type of MD725 it is and what Android version you use.
I'm unsure as to which version it is as it's current installed in my car? Would I have to take it out and open it up to find out? Also the android version is 7. Many thanks @typos1
Yes, I know you have Android 7. No opening required - install a terminal and type : getprop bt.md725.type and press return/enter, if its type 1 it works with Android 8 and 9, if its type 2 it wont.
Its very rare to have a 1Gb RAM version of a Nougat RK3188/PX3 SoM, someone may have even installed Nougat on an old RK3188/PX3 Lollipop 1Gb RAM SoM, but the usual 2Gb RAM Nougat RK3188/PX3 SoMs are not slow (theyre not exactly really fast but theyre perfectly useable), so if you can get hold of one of them its worth considering.

Aliexpress has px30 and px5 coreboards. But if you consider that, please open the unit before buying something to make sure that it fits.

Will this Joying fit and is it compatible with the car’s factory JBL system?
This unit is available on both eBay & the official Joying site. In case if something goes wrong & I want a refund, which one of the two should I purchase it from?
Not MTCB, requested mod moves to (Android Head-Units) forum.
Ive been using the non JBL version in my Tacoma for months, and it is great. Fast interface, steering wheel buttons all work, and easy to install with their wire harness.
I think that is joying's ebay account so you can order from either and get their warranty.
Cheers for the reply. Are there any bugs or hiccups from your experiences with the unit?
Also both wifi & Carplay works just fine?
No issues, they just updated for support for Wireless Android Auto, and it already supports wired & wireless carplay but I don't have any experience with it.

As soon as FYT stop updating these units will be bust for this support as non-genuine

Question Assistance - AHU connector pin identification needed

Hi People
Need help identifying, or finding supply of pins for my brand new (but faulty) Teyes CC3 8G (non-360).
I have tried raising a dispute with Teyes OFFICIAL AliExpress store. They responded with please watch this movie about steering wheel controls, Reset the unit, and offered 2c refund for supplying a faulty $600 unit?
And yes, I have been waiting many days for the 3 Teyes website WhatApp Support accounts to respond. Nothing from the two Chinese WhatsApp channels, and the Russian withdrew from the chat session without responding.
Oh, and Dan in Australia is p1ssed at me from buying from AliExpress instead of him, and has withdrawn any support. I didn't know he was a separate reseller.
There are a multitude of different pins in mainly 1.0, 1.5, 1.8, 2 .2, and 2.8mm sizes.

Searching Amazon, AliExpress and Google I have managed to put together the following list of pin models.
Hope this might help someone. The list of what I have worked out is on my Google Drive in PDF and Excel files.
The 4 pins required for my repairs and alterations
Large Female Pin rear of Teyes CC3: 13mm long and 3mm wide as read by micrometer
Small Female Pin rear of Teyes CC3: 11mm long, 2mm wide, 3mm height
Really lost with this one.
Kia Cerato 3rd Gen YD 2016 small audio pin: 22mm long, and 0.9mm diameter as read by micrometer (Probably goes as 1mm)
I have found this ->20 Pcs Auto Female Male Crimp Pins Loose Wire Terminal 1123343-1 For Tyco Amp Connector 1376352-1 but I'm not 100% sure. Might order any.
Most pins that I can find have a retaining wing on each side instead of one on the top.
Kia Cerato 3rd Gen YD 2016 large flat pin: 23.5mm long, 2.2mm wide, and 0.75mm height
I am nearly 100% certain this is a 612-2.2A.
Any help greatly appreciated
No longer necessary. I fixed the fault myself.

Android head unit problem

Hi all
I have a Chinese head unit fitted in a hyundai i10, a direct replacement for the original radio.
Anyway, there was a system update, px5, I downloaded it over the Internet and installed it.
Now everything is huge, the screen is a bluey purple and I can't do anything with it. Seems the resolution is wrong?
I would do a factory reset , but can't see anything.
This what's on the back of it
Px5
Jpx53p0byz serial number
1.5ghz
4gb
Cpu
Android10
8× arm cortex A53 @1.5ghz
I have had it into an audio radio shop today, he says he has emailed someone in china to see if there is something they can suggest.
is there a fix or is it binned?
Does this help?

You need to look in the about device section in the settings on your head unit and find the MCU.
I think a PX5 can also be an MTCD device? but check your MCU anyway.
I can't, everything is massive and I can't see the screen

And from where did you download the update? That's also an indication for your type of unit.
And what is the resolution of your unit and for which resolution was your upgrade?
It popped up on the unit itself so I installed it just as I would with my phone

That means that it is an OTA update. That is not supported by older FYT units like your PX5.
That means that your unit is not a FYT unit but most likely a MTCD unit.
Not much expertise here in the FYT forum apart from a few who switched from MTC to FYT. I will ask the moderators to move this thread to the MTCx forum. Hopefully they can help you.
Thanks
If you don't know what MCU you have, it's hard to advise. If you have an HDMI output, connect it to the monitor and find out what MCU you have. Sometimes there is a Mini HDMI on the processor board, but you have to disassemble the device or take a picture of the label on the processor board.
