I have noticed a huge battery improvement since yesterday's update (5 February update) ! Is it just me or Google really pushed some new power management algorithm here ?

battery drains as fast as while charging it with a fast charger, it is that ridiculous, i'm very frustrated, sad and hopeless about this issue tbh...

Gonna give you a huge solution : Backup your phone and factory reset it then turn on dark mode and data saver and see how it goes , for me I didn't go with this procedure didn't do anything and the phone still hold the full day without problem , otherwise don't tell me you use heavy games or leave bluetooth and wifi on all day !

After some days I think my battery is better than before, arrives at night with close to 30% remaining. (Dark mode).
Maybe you need a factory default.

There is another thread for this issue.
Does there have the solution? Please share the link.
Many users reported that a factory reset fixed their problems. Only downside is that you have to reconfigure your phone
done factory reset manytimes but the drain remains..
seems like radio being active by apps is the problem
i'd love to post screenshots but since i am new here you know i am unable
Have you tried using BBS (better battery stats) to isolate the drain? And also try setting "keep wifi in sleepmode" to never or only when connected. Have heard of that working wonders for some.
And the screenshot thing can be overcome by uploading it to a different site and posting only the links
Preper yourself for NO notifications, if you put WI-FI to sleep.
I have wifi asleep and still get notifications. Maybe a little less frequent, but that's because stamina mode is working better (in my opinion) and only checks once in a while for new notifications

That' s the Queue background data option that is doing that.
So there ARE notifications Vs what you said that there would be none. I rest my case here
MOD EDIT @gregbradley
@ OP, I also ticked the option that other apps may not use wifi for location even when wifi is off. I believe that may also cost you some juice

It's funny how my phone ran normal for the first week now the phone is being drained by Facebook and feedly, I have made no changes in any settings and its happening now. Haven't looked into the problem yet but don't even know is it third party issues lol.
One thing I found out is that the battery tend to drain at a lesser rate if you leave the phone charged for an extra 20 mins or more after hitting 100%. Just a speculation

So, blame facebook for the battery drain.
There is an option where you can make the phone play a sound when is fully charged.
.
Just clean flash stock ftf.. Ota just sucks. I did it and my battery returned to prime life again.
.
I doubt that the reason we have the same problem is the same, but since I know how to post a screen cap, here's mine:
.
Today I got a new firmware update, however in the Play Store says that the changes are "functional improvements", I really have no idea if there's something new, and I have checked and found nothing nor what are the functional improvements.
Wondering just the same but it could be possible they changed something with bluetooth connectivity.
Has anyone else noticed that with this update battery life seems to have taken a real hit?

I definitely have. Used to go two days without recharging. Now I can't make it through one day without it needing to be recharged. Makes this watch pretty useless since I can't sit by a charger all day. Not pleased.
Probably would an update come soon because of battery drain...
I am charging my watch every 3-4 days. So no, battery life not taking a hit for me.

Same for me, about ever 3 day. No difference after new firmware.
Does it have a lot of bugs? How is the battery and etc?
For me, the battery life is crap, apart from that I'd say it's stable enough.

How can you say that ? I get more SoT on Nougat, like 5-6 hours with like 30-40 minutes of gaming.

Had 5-6 on Marshmallow, on the Beta the battery is draining like crazy, usually have to charge twice a day with light usage. Factory reset didn't do nothing, same apps as before. Might do another factory reset or go back to Marshmallow after the holidays.

It depends on number of apps you install , number of apps running in background . Time u keep you data connection open . all above will drain it battery faster so use minimal except basic apps

Figured all that already...always close all apps when the screen is off, never connect to wifi or data while the screen is off, smart power plan, reduce resolution, disable bloatware i don't use etc..... for sure i can have my phone without charging for 3 days but what is the point is my screen on time is 4hrs or maybe less in Nougat is even worse imo.... Even after emptying the battery charge to 100% and recalibrating twice
Also something irrelevant i noticed after downgrading back using another region update.app is that the theme store have more themes now that before they weren't there

No power plans on Nougat. It's something like this, for performance you dont need to do anything.
The batttery saver is in Phone Manager, then you have the option to lower the resolution which i dont think it works because nothing changing when i turn it on and the Ultra saver.
I noticed more standby battery drain in EMUI5.0 (B320) than EMUI4.1. I believe Android OS uses more power than before (I don't remember how much it uses in 4.1, but it uses a lot in 5.0).

the smart power plan is missing though!!! which i find it important cause sometimes you don't need neither perfomance nor battery save

Changing the resolution won't change anything in view . but look here , in order to display a video with 1080p resolution you are using much CPU power where as when u watching the same video at 480p resolution , it requires much juice . only thing u miss is display quality which is negligible.
Wow battery drain is epic i turn everything off and went to sleep with 60% and i wake up with my phone dead..
Hello,
I am new here and need help with my Honor 8. The battery drain allot. I have read other post on xda-developers.com with the same issue. I don't know if the drain start after the update7.0. I just know that I know that my has been update to 7.0. If is some info:
Android 7.0
EMUI 5.0.1
I have tried to turn off WIFI+ and Location with no lock .
I don't know if my phone is factory unlocked and I will try to restart my phone but would like to know if I do that will take away the unlocked part?
Please share you battery graph and also see which app is consuming high battery. It may be many apps open in the background. I was facing the same and disabled Facebook on screen lock as it was consuming good amount of battery.
Check if you have enabled backup and sync for Photos as it consumes a lot of juice as well.

Try installing this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sp
Let it measure ur usage for a day and then see which app has wavelocks and consumes battery in the background.
Also u can reset and restart ur phone, it will NOT unlock ur bootloader or void warranty.

For the first time, mine did some crap like that this morning.
Word thing is the other day it stayed in 100% for 2 hours straight.
I mean I was web browsing on 4G, playing videos on YouTube etc. Doing everything I can to try and drain the battery.
My guess is we both need to factory reset.
In my case I recently updated to B391 but didn't factory reset.
Each update I did prior, I always factory reset the phone and had consistent & decent battery life

I always do a factory reset. It's crap, we users shouldn't have to, but it seems the best ways to squeeze the best performance of the device.
I bought the Honor 8 when it launched. It's almost been a year and a half and I had big battery issues.
I tried battery calibration, factory reset, etc... Nothing worked.
So I bought a new battery on Ebay (15€) and had it replaced. The phone is now good as new. At the end of the day, there's almost 50% of battery remaining.
I thing the component quality isn't that good and doesn't last more than 18/20 months.

I bought my Honor 8 around Octobor 2016 and same issue. Now, for common use, FB, surf with Chrome, IM with Messenger & WhatsApp, I've to charge 2-3 times per day.
My device is still in warranty (I think) then, I contacted Huawei/Honor support... but I think like you, battery is a poor quality and need to be replaced.

Could you please PM me the ebay link to the battery you got? Thanks
Is it easy to replace the battery on your own? I am really furious with the battery issues. Today my phone had 60% battery and it shut down suddenly. When I turned it on again the battery life was 0% and I was away from home without any other way to communicate with the universe ? . I don't know if I should by a new battery or just throw it away and get something else. It was a great value for money device (best camera ever!) but this thing with the battery is unacceptable especially because it is not easy to open it. I'd really appreciate it if you could send me a pm with the ebay link as well. Thanks in advance ??

Had my battery replaced under warranty a months ore so before the expiratin and with shipping taken care of (Huawei France). The phone was back quite quickly (took around one week) and now feels absolutely great. I am not a heavy storage user so I can manage with 32G for some time.
Even if it's out of warranty I'd say it's really worth replacing.
Hi everyone
I have my honor 8 two years now.
It always had 2days battery with normal use (videos included) for 1and half years.
Now it's switching off with 80% battery left.
When I plug it and turn it on it says 40/50% battery left. If I unplug it, it swithches off again.
It makes me crazy as I cannot rely on it, but the phone is fantastic!! I had other phones on the past, and the battery last for more than 5years!!
- I've reboot the phone already, cleaned the cache, checked all apps, but the situation is still the same.
Any suggestion?
- I'm reading that Google play might be the probem. Can I get rid of it?
Thanks for your help!
Cheers
Plinny
I resolved my battery drain problem by connecting all my wifi to 2.4Ghz instead of 5Ghz.
Has anyone else experienced more phone related battery drain after the recent UI update? It's not using alot of battery or anything, but I do see the symbol on the phone were Samsung accessory service is in use way more often now. And prior to update, the plug-in never registered at all in my battery usage. So basically it would use under 1% battery for the entire battery cycle. Now, it uses 2-3% per cycle and I've done nothing different with the phone. Has anyone else noticed this and know how to fix it?
I have the same problem after upgrade to new frameware One UI . Super fast Battery drain.

I have got super fast battery drain as well...its so bad the watch drains even when it is turned off...I used to last 2 days without having to charge the watch but now by end of day I am down to 10% or so...really really baffling. And firmwares for this watch are so hard to come by...I wanted to do a downgrade...
