Google assistant reminders problems - Samsung Galaxy S10e Questions & Answers

From what I understand, reports of google assistant problems related to reminders are not uncommon. I've had reminder issues in S8, and now S10e, but now, more symptoms.
I can schedule a reminder by voice, it will be added to the reminder list, but I get no notifications.
One thing I haven't seen other complaints about is, directly after I set a reminder, and go to the list, the reminder says "overdue". All new. reminders do this.
Yesterday, I tried to set a manual reminder. I selected the "+" button in the assistant app, and I received a written and verbal message saying something to the effect that "your voice could not be recognized. Check your voice settings" (as I said, I'm trying to set a reminder "manually", not by voice")
I tried to retrain the voice, and all I got was that little round, spinning icon indicating that the app was trying to get to the voice training page, but never loaded. Now, all google voice recognition ceased altogether. That's how things remained for the rest of yesterday, and today until for what ever reason I was able to get through and retrain the voice, after which voice recognition resumed.
Regardless, when I try to set a manual reminder I still get the message that my voice can't be recognized.
I've tried all the troubleshooting tips I could find, but like I said, I haven't run across anyone with the common problem of this "overdue" reminder designation, or the issue with setting manual reminders.
I was hoping these unusual circumstances would be a clue to what's going on.
thanks

What is the Default Reminders App?

Having a bit of an issue.
When I set a reminder via voice ("ok google. remind me tomorrow at 10 o clock) and I save that reminder. What app is it actually going to? I checked google keep, clock, but i can't seem to find it. Oddly enough I also said "ok google. remind me in 30 seconds" so I can see how the reminders pop up, then maybe I can figure out what app it is, but the reminder never came up. I can't tell if its a bug and my reminders arent working but yeah, any help?

They're held within the Google Search app. Google Search includes all the Now functions which includes the reminders set from it.

[Q] Need app to make Google Now reminders repeat

Good morning all,
I dont know if I am an idiot or what, but I just cannot find this.
I say "Ok Google", then "Remind me to buy flowers my wife in one hour". Google Now accepts the request and schedules the reminder. About 59 minutes later, I step away from my phone to grab a soda (or am on the phone, or the phone is in my pocket and I am outside where it it noisy), and the reminder goes off *one time* and I miss that one, single, solitary reminder. Yep, I do see the reminder in my notification bar with the hand with the string on its finger.
Question: Where can I find an application that will force a repeating reminder? I've looked through a LOT of apps, and not one seems to do it. They do SMS, Phone, etc. Many even will set reminders for any "Application". But neither "Google Now" nor "Voice Search" are ever listed. This lapse makes the reminder system completely useless. Miss that one single reminder to buy flowers, and the reminder might as well say "no nookie tonight".
I would appreciate any assistance

"OK Google" Reminders Gone after... something? Inbox?

Hi everyone, kind of a shot in the dark here but I was wondering if anyone had some info to share...
I've been using Google Now location-based reminders for ages, basically since they showed up. However, some time since last year, they just stopped working. I will go "OK Google, remind me to do the dishes when I get home" and it will set the reminder...
But when I get home, the phone doesn't go "bing" or blink its status light or anything. Stock Nexus 5, FWIW.
I am using Google Inbox though and I'm wondering if this has something to do with it. If I open Inbox (app or web site), I will see my reminder ("do the dishes") listed as "Snoozed to Home".
What gives? How do I get it to notify me like it did before I had Inbox? How is it SUPPOSED to work with Inbox enabled on my account?
I've never had good luck with location-based Google now notifications. Do time-based notifications work for you?

G2 S-Voice tips and tricks

We all know that s-voice on the G2 leaves a lot to be desired. Especially if you've used "OK Google" on an Android Wear watch.
Or S-Voice on a Galaxy phone. Or even s-voice on the old Gear 1 that was running Android. Even S-Voice on the Tizen-based Gear 2 was better.
However, it's not useless. In fact, I use it a lot. I've found a few "workarounds" to some of the shortcomings and bugs, as well as some tricks to get it to do what you want it to do. Thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for people to share their discoveries.
Also, post questions too -- there may be a way to accomplish with S-Voice what you want to, and someone else has figured it out.
Post away!
TIP: The S2 seems to be using a very aggressive AGC on the microphone, so recognition is much better if you speak with a clear, loud (not yelling, more like discussion at a meeting table loud) voice, and hold the watch as close to your face as you can (but no closer than 6 inches or so). This will ensure that the AGC turns down the gain and masks out background noise.
QUESTION: Anyone find a way to select from multiple contact matches by voice only? If there are more than one match (say a Jr and a Sr, S-Voice doesn't pay attention to those) it will display both and ask to pick one, which as far as I've been able to determine, can only be done by touch.
Not good if you're sending a text via voice while driving.
Thanks good idea but I long gave up on s voice tried it with the G2 even worse
Please more tips! I used voice on android wear a ton to make reminders, alarms, and text. S voice struggles to find contacts, has no reminders, and often says it can't connect. Boo!!

I have a Huawei Android Wear watch. The Google App (handles the voice stuff and other good Googleness) and the InstaWeather watch faces are the only thing I just can't live without on the S2. There's no comparison between S-Voice and "OK Google". It's like comparing the intelligence of a human to a mouse.
But it is what it is. And the S2 3G has features that, in balance, win me over and make me hold my nose with S-Voice. Given that, might as well figure out as a community how to get the most out of it, and keep our fingers crossed (I'm not too hopeful) that Samsung will improve it.
Far more likely is someone creating a Tizen app to bridge over to the Google app. Or figure out a way to host the android wear version within Tizen. Or who knows. I have much more faith in the hacker community than I do in Samsung when it comes to this.
TIP: When answering affirmative to send a text message, email, etc., say, "OK" not "Yes". I've had 100% success with OK, not always with Yes in noisy environments (sometimes gets "S", sometimes nothing).
TIP: No reminders like on Google App, but you can get the same functionality for time-based reminders with alarms. Try,
"Set alarm four fourty-five pm, pick up Kris"Works as well as, "remind me to pick up Kris at four fourty-five pm"
One question (looking for a tip or a simple answer). When I receive a message via sms or whatsapp or facebook messenger I can choose to reply with an emoticon, a premade phrase, the keyboard or svoice.
Every time I select s voice I see the mic (blue icon on the bottom of the screen) but no matter what I do it won't detect my voice and type the message.
How do I make it listen and dictate the message?

Hmmmm... that's not the way mine works. I get the microphone on the blue arc background, and a two-tone prompt to start talking (I suppose you don't hear this on the classic and sport). After a brief pause (a second or so) I start speaking and it picks up my voice and transcribes it. While listening, there is one of those wiggling "volume lines" horizontally across the arc, and the mike is gone.

I tried this today and discovered a bug in the S Voice alarms. I said "Set alarm for seven o'clock pm" and it showed an alarm, set for today, at 7:00 pm. All is well, or so I thought. The alarm never went off. When I went into alarms, it was set for tomorrow, not today. Tried many more times with different commands, like "set alarm for TODAY" or "set alarm for Thursday" and each time the alarm looked correct in S Voice, but when I go to the alarm app, it is set for one day later.

Just checked it, same here. Even stranger, if you press the little active/inactive green button for the alarm to disable it, then again to re-enable it, it corrects itself to the right day and works.
A workaround, but not really. The whole point is to be completely hands-free.

Assistant only completes certain tasks

Since yesterday I have a seemingly unresolvable issue with the Assistant on my Pixel 3. Running Android 10 and been using swedish as the main language for a while (the issue is the same with english btw).
Stuff like setting timers, alarms, making calls, sending texts and playing music have worked fine for a long time.
Right before things went wrong I got an error message about no Google account being associated to the Assistant. I reverted it to my Google account and figured everything was fine.
Then later the Assistant started failing, and in particular to do these tasks:
- set timers
- set alarms
- make calls
- send texts.
When I try these I'm only met with the three grey pulsating dots, and no audio response or text confirmation.
Stuff that it still does, though, are:
- play music via Spotify, Google Play Music
- tell me the weather
The strange thing though is that if I set Assistant to be used without an account, it works! Also if I create a brand new test Google account, it manages those basic tasks that have stopped working on my regular Google account.
So, on Android 10, security update april 5th.
I've been trying to resolve this for 24hrs now, and frustration is growing. I've:
- tried to clear cache/data for the Google app
- inactivated it, rebooted, activated, updated
- tried the beta Google app
- tried various old versions from apkmirror -- from march, earlier in april (at a time when my Assistant was working)
- rebooted in Safe mode -- here it uses the old Assistant interface! and it actually works, but it's the clunky old one!
- checked permissions for the Google app/Clock/Telephone app/Messages -- everything seems to be enabled?
- gone through my settings for my Google account: web and app activity, location history and so on is Enabled. Personlig ads also on.
Another weird thing is that sometimes it actually seems to set a timer, but no confirmation and no notification visible. Also nothing is shown in the Clock app. But a timer beeps after five minutes -- only sometimes! Weird.
Now when I was experimenting with this I tried to set a timer, then opened the Clock app and of course, no timer was running. I then got one of those blue notification fields at the bottom, saying I can use the Assistant to set timers, alarms etc. I touched it and got an Assistant popup saying "It's not possible to reach Google right now" (translated)... Hmmm!
As you can tell, this is very weird. I would appreciate any pointers and suggestions! Thanks in advance
So this is what a typical response looks like:
https://photos.app.goo.gl/PaMGfYxAUSqAoMpZ6
And in Your Activity, it says I set a timer and got a response, but that is is simply untrue!
https://photos.app.goo.gl/VGmrP1G4KU9HE66C8
(I switched to english temporarily to try to illustrate).
So, for every one of those attempts absolutely no resonse except for the pulsating dots was shown in Assistant! :/
So strange.
I zeroed my phone completely again, and set it up with my regular Google account but WITHOUT copying apps and settings. Assistant STILL WON'T DO BASIC TASKS LIKE TIMERS.
I zeroed it again and instead made a brand new Google account: Assistant immediately performs those basic tasks.
I really need some help here, please.
OK, so I went back and disabled all the data & privacy settings in Assistant, and now it can set a timer. But beyond that it's quite useless as it can't get access to make calls or do texts etc. So I gradually enabled setting by setting, and I've concluded that the "Web & App Activity" toggle breaks my Assistant somehow. It doesn't matter if I check or uncheck the "Include Chrome history..." or "Include voice and audio recordings" boxes, if the main toggle is on my Assistant hits some kind of wall with timers, texts and calls. Beyond this I can't understand what I can do to influence this?!
