Help: Want to lock the device to a specific LTE Band - Sony Xperia XA Questions & Answers

Until now I only had Qualcomm devices where this is easily possible with the network signal guru app out of the playstore. Now I also wanted to do the same thing for my friend because he lives in an area where LTE Band 3 (50Mbit/s throughput) and LTE Band 20 (5Mbit/s throughput) is available but the phone switches to Band 20 after around 5minutes of usage so after that you always need to put it in airplane mode and back again.
Is there a possibility to lock it to a specific band? I can‘t access the MTK engineer mode through all apps on the PlayStore (always get an error). The phone is rooted.

How do I select UMTS/WCDMA mode only?

Well guys I am a newbie to the Android world!!
On my earlier Nokia I used to have three options for the Network Mode under the Phone Settings, viz. , Dual Mode, UMTS, GSM. Since in my area the 3G signal is a bit weak I used to select UMTS only, so that the phone doesn't switch over to 2G automatically.
However, in my android device (Samsung GT-I5503) the only option under the Mobile Networks which is anything similar to a Network Mode selection is the Use Only 2G networks checkbox. I believe it disables Dual Mode and allows GSM network only, in the Android device. So Android Gurus and Forum Moderators, do you guys know of any method or software which can select 3G network only!!
Please help me guys as the 3G reception in my network is a bit weak, Android doesn't switch over to 3G!!
Oh and BTW, I'm getting a really good 2G signal. The Signal Bar is 4/4 most of the time!!
@Mods: Could you please change the title of the thread to "How do I select UMTS/WCDMA only, on Samsung Galaxy 5 (GT-I5503)?"

[Q] Baseband Engineering Mode Change Band?

Phone Model: Star B2000
MT6573 chipset
Enter code in phone dialer:
*#*#3646633#*#*
You get engineering mode.
Go to bottom of screen and select BANDMODE
I have several bands listed, but I can only select/deselect a few bands. The others are grayed out and I cannot select them.
Anyone know how i can select the other bands? I have terrible signal to the point i stand outside in downtown chicago and I loose signal!! I get a max of two bars anywhere i go.

[Q] Phone switches carriers down to 2G as preferred instead of up to LTE

Hi all,
Currently using Xperia Z2 with KitKat. My carrier is DST (Brunei). My carrier uses three separate operators - LTE DST, 3G DST, 2G DST, all viewable in the network operators search page.
Quite often my phone decides to drop down to 2G DST operator as the preferred, without desiring to change back up, even with switching on flight mode. If I manually search, I can see all 3 available, and if selecting either 3G or LTE, they operate smoothly for a while - 20mins or until I lock my screen.
I have noticed this with previous phones on this carrier too.
Is there anything that can be done to either lock out the 2G one, or make the phone understand that is only a last resort?
Thanks

How to Find Out the LTE Only Mode on Oppo Smarthpone

In network mode option we will not be able to find a selection of 3G/HSDPA only or for 4G/LTE only in OPPO smartphone series regardless. This may be done by manufacturing companies in order not to complicate the layman user. So, the choice of LTE set automatically in the default setting.
Fortunately the Oppo doesn't modify the full version of android that is in use on the device. We can still find LTE settings only and WCDMA or HSDPA only through ways below:

How To Repair Dropped LTE Signal on Nokia 8

Hello everyone, I am a Nokia 8 user like all of you and my device on latest Pie Build (v5.140). Somehow i faced LTE Signal Dropping problem this morning. My problem seemed bug-dependent and finally i solved it. Now, i'm going to explain you how i repaired my dropped LTE signal.
(Warning: This guide was prepared for bug/software-dependent issue, not operator-dependent.)
First of all, turn off all network connections (WiFi, Cellular Network and Bluetooth).
Step 1-)Reboot your phone to safe mode.
Step 2-)Reset your network configurations; for this, go to Settings>>System>>Advanced>>Reset options>>Reset WiFi,Mobile and Bluetooth. Cellular network will be turned on, turn it off again.
Step 3-)Go to Dial and write *#*#4636#*#* code. You will see Testing menu.
Step 4-)On this menu, touch Phone Information tab.
Step 5-)On the opened menu, we need to apply some changes over Preferred Network Type and Mobile Radio Power. Switch Preferred Network Type to LTE/CDMA/UMTS auto (PRL). Wait for device to apply configuration. 10 seconds later, turn off Mobile Radio Power and wait for your device to turn off the radio communication. 10 seconds later, turn on Mobile Radio Power again.
Step 6-)Apply normal reboot.
That is all, i repaired my dropped LTE problem by applying these steps and i hope it will help you all.
Hi,
Iam from Germany and my provider is Vodafone.
I have the same problem with lte dropping.
Your instructions didnt help for me.
The only thing what I can do is enable and disable flight mode. In some areas lte is dropping more often and in some places less.
Is there possibility to get some debug information?
Maybe I have a hardware defect and need to repair my device?
Mine too. South Africa. I normally have lightning LTE speeds and all of a sudden ....i have to tab airplane mode on / off probably 3 or 4 times in order to regain steady LTE strength...
