write here the apps or mods you think will make the g7 experience better for anyone - LG G7 ThinQ Themes, Apps, and Mods

why don't we note down here some apps or mods not specifically for lgg7 so anyone can try it and make the g7 better? i think it lacks something...
i don't know if you will follow me or don't like my idea but i'll start anyway because looks like no one cares about our phone
no root nokia camera porting
it has double shot (front and back) and it just works good
network monitor mini
to have network speed, i hide it on the right of the notch (it has an option to be on statusbar) but it disappear when i'm on launcher with no apps opened
root and edxposed xposed edge
it can recognize the assistant button and i use it for example to open torch with double click (with tasker you can too maybe but double click is complicated)
bottom quick setting
to have many stuff on the bottom, just try it, i use it a lot.
magisk whatsapp emoji
another one

This its a Great idea, mainly for us, that we are on Stock Rom without root.
Blokada.
everybody know about Blokada. its a great and safe app for avoid Ads with not root / Supersuser. it has a white list and do not drain battery at all.
Gcam for LG G7
Its a Must for get better photo on Lg G7. look like a "Obvious App" but no everyone get the correct.
Dark Mode
Great App. you can get dark mode On in GPhoto, Gplay, Instagram, Chrome, twitter just pushing a Button. work flawsless.
CPL (Customized Pixel Launcher)
For me, best launcher. Stock launcher feel limited and akward IMO.

Some of these require ADB commands if not rooted.
Naptime
UI Tuner: Has a global dark mode switch now also.
Fluid Navigation Gestures
Poweramp V3
Package Disabler Pro
Hi-Fi Status
YouTube Vanced
Brave Browser( between Vanced and Brave almost all ads are gone)
Lawnchair V2

Note pro 12.2 is it worth Rooting?

I have been using the device for a while right now and I saw a lot of topic about people talking about rooting the device. the question is, is it worth rooting? I don't actually see the need for that. So, if anyone can point out some major reason for rooting for me please?
Sent from my SM-P900 using Tapatalk
I rooted mine only because I couldn't write to extSD as I bought it for reading eBooks which would be stored in extSD. I also freeze indexservice which drained the battery. Adaway is also another good reason to root.

It's totally subjective; if you don't see a need then don't worry about it. Sites like this though exist in part because there are many who do have a need/desire to take things further than stock is able to go.
Reason's for me to root include:
Freezing of stock applications I don't want loading at any time (stock browser, stock email, e-meeting, web-ex, group play, knox, magazine widgets, stock music app, netflix, ny times, remote pc, screen saver, side-sync are all frozen using titanium backup on my device).
Installing Xposed Framework to customize the tablet - disabled youtube ads, customized multi-window menus, per application display density/resolution control for greater leverage of screen real estate, status bar tweaks and notification tweaks to name a few)
Full greenify support through Xposed framework - ability to hybernate applications to keep memory use low and maximize battery life.
Button savior application - ability to quickly access home/back/menu buttons from the side of the tablet in landscape instead of having to use the built in capacitive ones.
Titanium backup - ability to keep a backup of my last couple of versions of each application so that should an app update produce results that i don't like I can easily revert to an older version.
As has been stated, allowing for write access to external microSD.
Just a few tweaks I've added to my tablet. I continue to experiment with xposed modules as time goes on. All subjective "needs".
Every reason listed below is why I need root on my VZW Tablet.

I rooted it to use adaway, xposed with wanam xposed module and to uninstall bloatware.
Don't forget about changing to what we're font you want.
Really, if you live to tinker, you have to root. If you are just a user (nothing wrong with that) then rooting may not mean anything to you.

Are there any functions that would be lost by rooting, for example the ability to use screen mirroring?

Thanks for the list, didn`t knew TB could freeze programs so just snatched up the pro :victory:
Okay.. Can I borrow this thread a bit?
Can you change overall colour theme of NP? I have thought of buying one (LTE Model) and I just hate how it looks when settings, "drop down" notification bar etc.. are on white background. Is it possible change those to black like all AMOLED phones / tablets have?
Thanks.

Nope. With xposed framework you can install wanam module to ATTEMPT to do it. I say attempt because try as I might I could not change the color of the volume slider background. I posted a screenshot of my issue in the wanam thread but am not sure if it will be addressed in an update soon as I am not sure the developer has the means to look into it. We shall see, it's not like that module is updated frequently since it takes a lot of effort to find the settings in various versions of roms. If I had one complaint about the note pro it would be that the quick settings tiles and notification pull down is far too wasteful of screen real estate to the point that it's shameful. Tiles are huge on it and with the sliders extended one has to scroll frequently in landscape mode.

Not really, but with rooting, you will be able to install themes. There is currently one very interesting theme available for the Note 10.1, I am hoping a port may eventually become available for our device. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2687087
While the theme is "busy" compared to the Pro's generic white everywhere idea, it does harken back to the early days of Android hacking and the interesting icons which appeared. I'd probably give it a go on my Pro if it became available.
I too would like to theme my tablet. I like the look of some experia stuff quite a lot.

Has anyone tried to force it into tablet mode? I used to get a dropdown bar like the one on the note pro if I lowered my dpi on my note 2. Just in the middle. If you lowered it far enough and used a patch ui.apk you could get a tablet style menu bar on the note 2 (man I miss that)

Must Have Apps On The ROG Phone [08-12-2018]

Hi guys,
These apps i am about to introduce will change your phone experience for the better not just our phone for that matter but any Android phone.
1. Immersive Mode Manager(Paid)
This app is a must for every Amoled screen to protect your phone from future screen burn, the other thing is you get to enjoy the full screen experience with every app on your phone. I install this app on all of my Android devices.
I have created a thread long ago doing it manually but i think it's too much of work for people who want an app for that, if you want a manual free alternative check it out.
2. Fluid Navigation Gestures(Free/Pro Features)
This is my second go to app which i was introduced to recently. I will dare to say IMPO that it's the best custom gesture navigation app on Android currently.
By the way our Asus gesture navigation is not bad but i feel it's not polished yet. Also by using Fluid Navigation Gestures we can disable the navigation bar in the keyboard so that is a plus. So go ahead and give it a try.
3. JINA: App Drawer, Sidebar & Folder Organizer(Free)
This app is also a recent discovery and i highly recommend it. What the stock rom or custom rom for that matter lacks to date is the ability to access your apps form any app without going back to the Home launcher to access the drawer. With this app you can achieve that and then some more. The only downside of this app is that it's not noob friendly it will take you a lot of time to figure out all the features it has. The best thing about it you can customize every aspect of it and it's free.
4. Glimpse Notifications, Always On Edge - Edge Lighting or Glance Plus(Free/ Free / Free)
So to my surprise the ROG phone doesn't wake the device when you receive notifications like my previous HTC phone, but don't fret because here where Glimpse Notifications solves the problem that is if you just want the screen to simply light up. If you want more customization then the other two apps are great to check out.
5. Blokada(Free)
You must have an Ad blocker on the list if you are unrooted and definitely one of the best open source and free app out there is this one.
6. Popup Widget 3(Paid)
Now this app will get your phone setup to another level, instead of cluttering your homescreen with widgets how about hiding them and calling them when needed only either through your home launcher gestures or a shortcut sidebar ... . Pretty cool right!. Now this isn't a must have app but i had to mention it because it's absolutely amazing. I have an old video featuring it check it out.
-------
I will keep updating this thread once other apps are discovered or suggested.
-------
*Launcher used: Nova Launcher
*Icon Pack: Pixel Icon Pack
Here is an updated video to showcase everything
Great List ! Much appreciated !
Thanks
Cool "A Liquid Cloud" live wallpaper. I bought the paid version to support the developer, but the free version is great.
Swiftkey Keyboard
Textra SMS
Firefox browser
I used to use a third party camera, but I like the default camera and love playing with Google Lens
I used to use Apex launcher, but they have gone downhill lately forcing bloatware on you. I might stick with the default. I like the default theme.
I have installed Immersive Mode Manager! Very cool!
is there any app or setting mod that allows can turn the RGB /aura lighting into a visualizer for audio/media playback ? like the audio visualizer chroma app available for razer chroma windows on windows platform ?

I am not aware of any.
Sorry double post!
For nothing

Any possible way of using Nova launcher?

I'm really tempted to get one of these to replace my s8+, but I'm not sure if I could go without an app drawer. Could I perhaps delete the default launcher using adb? Or would that crash the whole phone?
Edit: this is what worked for me, putting it on the top so other people can find it more easily.
1. Make sure you have Nova or third party launcher installed.
2. Enable usb debugging in developer options.
3. Connect to your computer via usb
4. Type in:
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.huawei.android.launcher
Optional if you use Gesture control:
5. Swiping gestures from the bottom of the screen won't work, if you want to use gesture controls, download fluid or edge gestures from play store (one is a freemium app and the other is a paid app). I heard Fluid is really really good and it's a sort of free, but I already have Edge Gestures because I bought it for my M5 tablet, so that's what I use instead.
6. Enable gesture app in accessibility services.
7. Type in special access in settings, and disable battery optimization for that app.
8. Go to battery option> battery usage, find gesture app, choose manually launch app and check all three options.
9. Go to recent apps, and tap the lock icon of gesture app to keep the app open in background, or the accessibility services will be revoked.
Hope it works for you.
Just use Nova and then set it as default.
does it not give you the option of using an app drawer like other Huawei phones?
It has but Huawei software is the worst and only drawback of Huawei/Honor phones. If you can ignore the EMUI crapware Huawei phones are the best. Before you could just flash a custom ROM. Now since Huawei no longer provide code, it's impossible. You can get code via third party software but as it's paid there won't be much development.
had the Mate 9 and never had any issues with the Huawei software personally. Dont understand the hate it seems to generate. If the Magic 2 is the same, although i see its been updated from EMUI 9 to MAGIC 2 software now then im very interested in this phone. Just waiting for either global versions to be available or a UK version if they decide to release it here
I tried, adb shell to disable official APP then you can use Nova but still impossible to set the default launcher. But you could still use nova Swip up gesture may be disable to just tap nova in the default setting can fix this . But swip up to show the recent can't work anymore
My Magic 2 has arrived. I installed Nova Launcher on it. At first I disabled the default Launcher but it kept coming back when I rebooted it. So I just uninstalled the default Launcher using ADB.
Another problem I ran into is that when using Nova Launcher, the swipe up gestures don't work, so I had to buy a third party gesture app. But the accessibility services keep turning itself off. I tried managing the app manually in Phone Manager but sometimes the gesture app would still get disabled. Lol.

Welcome to Huawei World. The Magic 2 is an expensive phone. So instead of this stuff I would advise you to stomach the software and enjoy it. Accessibility service is a long running problem of EMUI 8 & 9. So at this point, if you are up for it, I advise you to unlock your Bootloader via and third party software. They are paid, keep that in mind. After that flash any project Treble GSI. However keep in Mind you are Running EMUI 9 so it may not work. Alternatively your best bet is to hope for a change and stomach it.

Thabks for the reply. It must be an Honor issue I guess. I have the same gesture navigation app installed on my M5 tablet and I had no issues with it. Although I can't remember if that was before or after I flashed OpenKirin on it. It seems to be working now that I disabled auto optimization for my gesture app. Fingers crossed.
I think I've worked it out now. As long as I have the gesture app opened in the background and have the battery optimization set to manual for the app, the accessibility services won't be disabled. Which leads me to another minor problem of not being able to use the clear app function or I'll have to turn it on again. I think I can live with that for now, at least the behavior is predictable and I know what is causing the problem.

Good Luck Man. At this point buying from Huawei/Honor is a risky investment. I hope yours is worth it. With the bootloader fiasco development for these phones is non-existent. There is some hope it may change given the backlash but, well. Good Luck. From what I have heard the Magic 2 is a good phone. Enjoy it. As for me, I am gonna try to avoid these phone. But they are the only budget phones with Good Specs so I am stuck. And yeah. The issues always go away after flashing custom ROMs.

Yeah man. Im switching from a US unlocked s8+, that has no unlocked bootloader or any dev as well. I do miss my OnePlus though, but it's such a shame that the 6T has no LED notification nor an AOD. Otherwise I would've bought it even though the SD845 is half a generation behind the Kirin 980.

Notification LED Is a loss. But you can enable AOD via Root. Or you know, just flash a custom ROM.

Hello! I'm thinking about buying this phone. But as you have it, there are some things I need to know:
1) Does it have Google play installed? Or do you have to install it yourself? If so, was it difficult or you just enter the honor store, look for Google, and download it?
2) Too many Chinese phones have problems with third party apps notifications (especially WhatsApp). Like you don't receive the notification unless you open the app. Does it happen with the honor Magic 2 Too?
3) The always on display in most Chinese phones is useless cause only shows notifications from messages, phone calls or some Chinese apps like WeChat or QQ (no Gmail, Facebook, WhatsApp).
4) Although the phone has Spanish language, the virtual assistant only works with Chinese voice.
Thanks

1) It has Google framework preinstalled, and you would just need to download play store on Huawei app gallery. It's as simple as that.
2) I get WhatsApp messages instantly with the screen off.
3) The AOD is very basic. So it only has the time, battery level. The lockscreen shows you the song you're playing (on Google play music, but not Spotify strangely) and some shortcuts.
4) The phone has Spanish but the assistant is in Chinese only. I'm not sure if they've updated it are planning to update it. I uninstalled it via ADB so can't test that out for you.
I install nova launcher , and use adb command remove default launcher:
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.huawei.android.launcher
It's work! I can use nova launcher as my default launcher...
But there is a BIG problem:
The home key (or home gesture) don't work! It's mean I can go home at anywhere...
ps: Go "Huawei Store" install & run huawei launcher again can let stock launcher back without factory reset.

Try fluid gesture app + Nova
Sent from my HUAWEI NXT-DL00 using Tapatalk
I use edge gestures from the play store, it cost like $2 but I had it already because I bought it to use with my tablet.
You have to go to the recent apps page and lock it in, as well as ignore the battery optimization for it to keep working, otherwise emui will keep disabling its accessibility services access.

Because your are only disabling the apk, NOT uninstalling (which you can't without root). The gestures are only working with the build in launcher.

For me the app itself works but I can't enable "Access with Voice Match" to say "OK Google" from any screen, not sure why.

[Root] Get vertical recent apps view (must use custom launcher)

If you're like me and you think that this horizontal recent apps view is garbage, here's an idea that you may like. I downloaded an app called 'Chef's Freezer' (requires root) and freezed OnePlus launcher.
Since I'm using Nova and Fluid n.g., everything works perfect for me. I'm not sure if OnePlus gestures are tightened up together with OnePlus launcher. Haven't tested that.
Do you know any other way of getting it?
I found last night that if you use the NoLimits ROM; remove the OnePlus Launcher and pick Lawnchair launcher listed in the profile editor (i think there is nova, lawnchair, action and pixel, but dont know if they all work), you will get the vertical recents view.
Or, instead of freezing, use Magisk and QuickSwitch, and you can have any recents provider ?
I've simply installed the attached APK and I get vertical recents. It's just a version of OP launcher from Oreo.

Don't need any setting , just freeze or uninstall oneplus launcher. ( need root )
If you freeze oneplus launcher, do you still see the app lock icon in recent screen?

I don't see the app lock, also if you use Navigation gestures the Swipe up for home does not work for me.

I personally froze the launcher, and I use Xposed Edge for better gestures. I love this set-up, and it's much faster than stock.

Or, instead of freezing, use Magisk and QuickSwitch, and you can have any recents provider

This is the real answer if you are rooted.

Unless Quickswitch has changed it functionality, I believe it only gives you horizontal scrolling. This thread is specifically for how to get Vertical scrolling instead. In which case, you need to freeze or uninstall the oneplus launcher and install an older version from Oreo or use a different launcher.
If i [ disable ] Oneplus Launcher with an ADB command , when using Nova Launcher Prime in the same time as my default launcher can i get the oreo recent app view ? On my previous phone a Mate 20 pro ( emui :s ...) it worked .

Yes that should work. Just try it and you will find out, if it doesn't, you can always just reenable the Oneplus one.
It doesn't seem to work for me. The moment I set a different default launcher, using quickswitch even, the recents gesture stops working. If I set nova as default, home and back work but no recents list.
Using gestures, not nav bar.
Yeah u right ^^ .. and u know what ? It Worked !!!
So , unrooted budies ( like me ) TO DO this thing , enter the following ADB command :
pm disable-user --user 0 net.oneplus.launcher
TO REVERT :
pm enable --user 0 net.oneplus.launcher
[ Make sure you have an alternative launcher in use before ! ( in my case : Nova Launcher Prime ) ]
I use Fluid Navigation Gesture and no problem so far .
Peace .
cant use navigation gestures with OP launcher frozen
stock gestures are so much better than fluid nav gestures.

i receive "-bash: pm: command not found" with "pm disable-user --user 0 net.oneplus.launcher" command, am i missing something?
nevermind, i'm dumb enough to forget to do "adb shell" before
So, how do you get to recent apps in anywhere in the app? on fluid navigation, i am able to get back, but can't get the recent apps if i swipe from center below. I use Nova prime as well

Can't get this to work. The gesture app requires xposed framework. I tried installing the magisk xposed framework module, it failed.

Yeah you need to use the newer EdXposed which works on Pie. Instructions for installation are in that thread, but you basically just need the Riru Core and EdXposed Magisk modules as well as the EdXposed Installer APK. The thread also lists all the modules that either work or have been updated to work with EdXposed. The majority of useful modules are supported by now.
You can configure the gestures however you see fit with Xposed Edge. It's insanely customizable. It's a perfect solution IMO and better than OEM gestures on any device.

Difference between EU ROM and Global ROM?

What are the main differences between these two variants?

That's it?
Ok got it.
MIUI.EU is a custom ROM made by the fan community based on Chinese Variant of MIUI, which has way less inbuilt Google apps and bloatware but includes almost all the same Mi Apps. ( It also doesn't have ads)
In terms of performance and battery backup is almost the same as stock.

Woah automatic dark mode is there? Damn.
Is it system wide? i.e do apps that don't support dark mode natively get it too?
The hide notch feature is there in stock tho
