Can anyone share the latest OOS CAM apk? - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

I have custom ROM, and I'd like to use the latest OOS cam apk, but in apkmirror there is only ports from OP7/P which are always crashing when I opening them.
Where can I download it?

Let me Google that for you... https://lmgtfy.com/?q=oneplus+6+oos+camera+for+custom+rom
Apparently it's somehow super hard for some people to do a quick Google Search... It's that easy.
Here's some links to some threads that might be helpful:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/themes/magisk-oos-camera-3rd-party-roms-t3873821
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/themes/magisk-oneplus6-oos-camera-t3888204
If those ports don't work you might be out of luck, not every Custom ROM has support for the OOS Camera.
Not that it really matters, the OOS Camera sucks anyway. You'll be able to get way better results with a Google Camera port.
Also in many Custom ROM threads there have been reports of certain features of the OOS Camera to be not working, like Slow Motion and Portrait Mode.
So I wouldn't be expecting a fully working OOS Camera on a Custom ROM.

Don't assume I didn't google that before if you don't even bother to ask
If you'd pay close attention, you would see that I even commented on the thread in your 3rd link, but it's a dead old port, and I'd like to use a newer one (like the one in OmniROM for example, which is somehow managed to do so) because all of the options that you gave are extremely old, and most (if not all) the issue you mentioned are already fixed in the newer versions which you didn't even bother to look into account.
And I don't know why do you think the OOS cam so bad, especially if you're recommending a buggy cam like GCAM, which is behaving like an early alfa stage and crashing randomly.

Well if you did search well than you would've already known that there isn't any great working port available but the ones included with certain ROM's. Something I already knew but you just assumed I didn't, now you are doing the exact same thing you were pointing out to me. So the advise you gave me would be fitting for you too. "Don't assume I didn't knew that before if you don't even bother to ask".
And I'm not going to read through all those threads just to see if you have already commented in them, why would I?
Beside that, yes the OOS Camera absolutely sucks. The unreliable post processing kills all the details, which results in very ugly digital looking, sometimes oversharpenend or soft picture's. A small crop isn't even possible due to that.
The Nightscape mode sucks too, makes every picture look like an oil painting. And it's funny you call GCam buggy, shows you didn't do much research on it. Currently I'm using Miniflex which works just fine and at least makes it possible to take usable pictures. The older xtreme GCam mod works fine too.
Both capturing details and night shots with GCam is superior compared to the OOS Camera. The only two things that work better with the OOS Camera are taking videos and Slowmo's, for which it actually is pretty good. But I don't need those features, maybe you do.
Look, you started a thread with your question without providing any basic info like which ROM you are running etc. Getting a bit tired of seeing new threads requesting stuff with hardly providing any info that might be useful to know. I might have sounded very rude so sorry for that, maybe I should've took a 10sec count before I wrote my response.

Maybe I was running out of options, maybe it was just wishful thinking, but I thought at first that someone here knows something that I do not about it.
And regarding the OOS functionality, I don't know, but I was fully satisfied with anything I used from 3.8.72 and above.

Well since there are some ROM's which do provide a pretty well functional OOS Camera there should be a way. But the best you could do is probably to run a ROM that provides the OOS Camera by default...
Regarding to camera quality it's probably because I'm a photographer, I'm probably looking at pictures differently than you do.

I prefer to stay with the rom that I have right now (havoc).
It combines the best from all the worlds into it.
The downside of it, of course, the lack of OOS (imo).

CyanogenMod7 Review (as I see it)

I have been using this build for quite a while now and decided to write a review of the ROM. Please keep in mind I am not a developer !!! I am simply writing this from a user standpoint and cannot nor will not support your problems. This is a review based on my opinions and usage of the ROM.
Pros:
I do like the UI. It is fairly stable and I haven't had much trouble out of it for the most part. The combination of ADW Launcher and the Cyanogen settings are great. The speed of the ROM is pretty good for a ported ROM based on GingerBread. I can't complain much about that. General things that I like are the advanced menus for customizing the dock and theme settings. The themed settings change icons for contacts, mail, messaging, phone, browser, calendar, and videos ( I may have missed some). The cyanogen settings cover an array of things that you can poke at but in my opinion should be included with stock builds as well. Overall if you were wanting to use this on a daily basis I think you would be ok to go ahead and install this ROM... NOTE: Don't hold me responsible if you brick your phone trying. It isn't one of the easiest roms I've
ever installed. The sleep policy has been fixed so that the phone doesn't reboot on unlock...which on my first flash hadn't been fixed and really really turned me off from this ROM.
Cons: I have yet to figure out why this is (again not a dev) but your microSD card will not mount when connected to the pc. I'm sure they are working on this but I haven't downloaded an update or nightly (which is current at the time of this post btw) that has fixed it. I do have some random picky things that I can't get an answer to, and good luck if you do...feel free to send them to me also. Some of my .mp3 ringtones will not work period. Different ones of even larger file size work... I'm not sure how that works out. Text messaging (native) doesn't work for incoming or outgoing... But I will say that I was having issues with that before so I can't blame that on this ROM. There are a few apps that won't work with this build easy uninstaller is one, I just get a fc. Battery is another issue that may be addressed with future releases. I don't run GPS (so don't ask if it's accurate) but keep wifi on all the time. I get probably about 8 hours with wifi on all the time. Not the best but definitely not the worst. You also cannot charge the phone while it is off... really not sure why, and the extended power menu doesn't work. And for the most part is an in depth install procedure... Back to stock with odin, flash two kernals, then a couple of files... Pretty lengthy and you have to be precise or else it bricks. Here it is if your interested... Thanks to MobileTechVideos for the instructions and video.
How to install CyanogenMod7
Other than that I have had virtually no problems (that I consider major) with this ROM and do like it and will probably continue to use it. If you have any general questions please feel free to ask. Again, again... I am not a dev so questions of that nature should be posted here: CyanogenMod7
I tried it and liked what works but it is still alpha quality and so i will wait for a few weeks until i give it another shot.

I agree, it is definitely still a beta build and as noted by Cyanogen... hasn't been put into the stable build section of their forums. I do look forward to a stable build. Perhaps the Dev's can address some of the weird issues that I mentioned above.
i also was not able to send multi media mms never would go through i tried for 20 mins to receive and send ,
this rom is great but here is why it sucks, i watch the cyanogen nightlies for the galaxy s phones, and with the types of updates im seeing on the cappy versus lets say the vibrant , there is no ****ing hope and this rom is dead.
the last update fixed an install file wtf. so at this rate cyanogen will be rc in o id say next year. ill have a new phone by then. my money is on miui

Well you completely forgot to mention that, currently it cannot handle lots of video format, most importantly mkv and even if you find something like Rock Player, there's a lot of lag in it. You cannot charge the phone while its off (because it'll turn on as soon as you plug the charger in). Also, you might encounter a totally new problem which you may not have an idea about. If captivate is your spare phone then play with it else stay away for a while until a RC is released.
This is just my opinion from 3 days of experience on CM7.

It was a total flop for me :/
It ran well when I first installed it, but started running "funny" (random crashing) after I installed gapps, then totally started crapping out after the 3/16 update.
I ended up ditching it for a 2.2 rom, mostly because I didn't feel I was gaining anything substantive and losing things I regularly use, like a feature rich camera app and divx playback support.
Been running for 3 days. 0 problems.
I've ran into a few bugs. External SD, booting when usb plugged in. Only charging to 95% (apparently a feature not a bug). At one point my signal shot down to searching, then it recovered and grabbed a signal. Not sure what caused that, but it was random.
I also cannot get it to mount to my PC. Kind of annoying, but if I need to transfer anything I just use dropbox.
I like it, and I think I'll keep with it. Even though it isn't 100%, I love gingerbread, and it's working for me.

I did forget that you cannot charge the phone while off and now that you mention it the extended power menu doesn't work either. It is fairly aggravating that Cyanogen updates the vibrant with "real" fixes other than this fixing little things but... All in all, it is still usable, just not stable or reliable.
Every time I try and warn someone that CM7 is not yet ready for primetime I get bashed for it, yet there seem to be plenty of people echoing my comments. Like I said in another thread, the people that are saying CM7 is stable and works great are either not using their device to its full potential or are willing to live without certain features. There is really no compelling reason to live with a ROM that has this many bugs or deficiencies when you consider how many really good ROMs there are available for our Cappys that have few, if any, issues. Yeah, they may not have Gingerbready theming or cutesy animations, but they just work. Andromeda 1.2 is one that comes to mind.
I am on it from I think last friday...Not a single problem...atleast how i use it...of course except battery life...which I am trying to solve...
Rock player worked well for me...I watched couple of movies when I was on road....never lagged just stopped couple of times....
great GPS...instant locks...i am amazed...But I also tried MIUI...and it is very very fast...and something different which I never experienced before...I think people should give it a try...ofcourse it has bugs too as it based on CM7...but they fixed camera bug and little stuff.....

I am by no means saying that it is ready for the masses... The only one that I would suggest without a second thought to someone who isn't willing to deal with at least some problems is Cognition Series by DesignGears. To my knowledge (and opinion) this is the absolute best rom for the captivate. IF ... Cyanogen gets to the point of a Cognition rom in function and use, then I might suggest it for the masses but not until then.

Your right in regard to it not being ready for most users (many are already praising the miui 2.3.3 also which is even less stable.....not saying it isn't promising). I think it breaks into 2 camps.
1. If you are a power user that wants all aspects of your device to function as intended...not for you. More specifically, If you use an external SD especially if your moving files to and from mounted to a PC....this is not the rom for you (this is my biggest gripe at this point). If you do lots of video in different formats...not for you as you will face compatibility issues. If you have to ask how your flash back to stock....this is probably not for you. If you value battery life as a top priority...not yet for you. Most of the other deficiencies or shortcomings had adequate work arounds but you until the major issues are resolved you will quickly find yourself flashing back to Phoenix, Firefly, Serendipity, Andromeda, etc.)
2. If you don't use and external SD and/or do much media vid/music then i can see why many view this as "stable" for their purposes. The UI, menus, and animations are smooth/fast and i never really had any issues with force closes while using it. Maybe its better linguistically to say its incomplete rather than refer to is as unstable and sorry if it offends the early adopters but if you are using it as your daily driver its pretty obvious you are using an inferior rom @ this point.

i would easily put a handful of roms on par with cognition:
Firefly, Supernova, Phoenix, Serendipity, Andromeda.

Excellent post.
Glad to see users sharing their experience on CM7. This is always good foe the community. I hope to see new users to read this thread prior to making any decision whether to flash CM7 2.3.3 or not.
On another note, I'm sure once Samsung do final release of Gingerbread 2.3.3 for i9000 series (last I heard that an early beta was released), we cappyites will see stable release.

Regarding the phone turning on when charging, I believe it's a gingerbread "feature". It's been said that it is working as intended. Also, the iphone does the same thing so I don't really see it as an issue. It's probably google seeing behavior they like and implementing it.
You can not mount the external sd but you can transfer to your internal then on the phone transfer to external, so I am not certain it Is fair to say you can not use your external sd. Video is an issue, and battery is as well.
At this point in time it is a trade off, there are several things cm7 can't do well or can not do at all. there are also several things it does much better than any 2.2 rom or are not available on 2.2 roms.
Its all preference and priorities. Kinda like any best rom discussion.

Largely it its because you have never used it, and have only tried one rom. That and you are compelled to jump on any thread that mentions it as if it is a personal mission. It its not as if you do not make some valid points, but it is not hard to see why it may rub some the wrong way after a while.
This is not an attempt to start something, but your comments make it seem like there is no warrant to people who go back at you.

Agreed... I was not trying to start a thread to bash any rom. However I do know that there are some hard feelings that are out based on certain features that work or don't and peoples impressions about the ROM itself. I also know that there is quite a bit of loyalty to certain ROM creators that no matter what they aren't going to be going to a new ROM simply because they are loyal to that dev... which is fine! I simply wanted to create an avenue for people who have used the ROM to pass along information and opinions on the ROM to people who are thinking about switching to it. People are entitled to their opinions and I am all for that... Just don't bash any of the devs or their work, it is not easy putting this stuff together and I for one am happy that I have a place I can go to that allows me to get away from stock. I hope that all will realize that

[Q] Is there a camera replacement app for Oxygen?

Hi,
Loving how stock oxygen OS is, but the google camera in it is terrible. Video almost NEVER focuses correctly, and pictures don't look as good as before.
Any good replacements that do both video/photo? There's plenty in the apps section for CM12, but not sure about oxygen?
Thanks!
CameraNext COS12 solved my issues AND seems to work fine on Oxygen.

I use the ColorOS camera port for CM11S with Oxygen, almost all of the stock features work well with OxygenOS (except 4K video, which looks pixelated for some reason). I haven't gotten around to trying plugins yet, but here's a topic I found that lists the plugins that work with Oxygen.
Yeah, I saw that post but it was too confusing.
The colorOS port you're using, can you link the post where you downloaded it? I saw a couple of 'ports' of it, not quite sure which one you tested and know to work.
Thanks!

Need camera app/blob help. LineageOS 14.1

LineageOS 14.1 Official

Open Camera
So I have been using lineage for the last three weeks, and am seriously disappointed in the camera. Before flashing I was stock CyanogenOS.
I have yet to take a decent photo since upgrading to nougat. And once those shots hit Google photos, they look even worse.
I do know that you need the blobs for the camera to work well, and I see a couple of threads talking about the different blobs for the various roms. What I don't know is if I can get the blobs through a kernel or maybe another nougat rom. I get the feeling that I am SOL. If I can't... This guy is going back to sock.
I don't care about slomo. HDR. 60fps video etc. I just want to be able to take good shots, and decent vids.
If there are any tricks, or something that I need to flash, please feel free to elaborate in the comments below.
Thanks.
PS. I have also seen comparisons with Oxygen, Color, Cyanogen, etc. A pros and cons list per se. If I am going to have to roll back and put on something that is considered 'stock' on the OPO... Should I be going to Oxygen or Color? Cyanogen is pretty fluid, with little lag. I would want OOS or COS to be the same. Only thing worse than a crappy camera is a lag fest.

I did the F2FS thing a while back with Zaphod. Can't be bothered to do it all over again. But thanks for taking the time to post. Someone might come across this and want to give it a shot.

I've actually been looking for the exact same thing. I'm on stock COS but it's been random rebooting on me for a while now (must be getting old) and I've heard good things about the oos port for the One. Along with these kernel/blob suggestions, I think this is exactly what I need to give a fresh start to my tired old OPO. Thanks again!
Edit: how about bacon camera instead of cameranext? It's being updated still (using it even now on cos for things where I need manual focus).

Ya bacon camera is still good but camera nextmod is looks better like fullscreen viewfinder. Its not so important to which camera app u use but its settings is more important.
My self not Touched any settings except i kept Autofocus mode on and zero shutter lag is off its do the all magic along with oxy blobs thats it

find7 = Oppo Find 7.
I'm running LOS 14.1 and over on the thread for the Lightening Kernan they all said for LOS Rome we need to use Version V38... will using V56 have any adverse effects on the ROM at all? I appreciate any info you all have.. I used to be a flashaholic back in the day with my late great HTC HD2, but have been out of the customization game for a few years.

Hello, I tried to flash v56 on LOS 14.1 and all I got as a result was a non-booting phone. So I guess there's some incompatibility issue. Keep in mind that I'm a new bacon user so I'm not that experienced with the world of its mods etc, so I might as well have done something wrong. Anyway it's better to talk about this in that kernel's thread.
Using the lightening 54 or 56 whatever it was, had to install the kernel a second time before phone would boot. But have had some major annoyances. It reboots a couple times a day, it takes upwards of three or four secs from the time I hit the button for the screen to come on etc. Pics are pretty good though. Going to update to new 14.1 nightly and try things for another few days before I give up on it. Will probably move over to omni if things continue.

You know if I am being honest... the experience on stock CyanogenOS is the best. I guess COS is ColorOS so I should just shut up. But at the end of the day I ultimately feel like I am going to end up going back and fastboot flashing the original Cyanogen files and going back to stock. When it installs right, with no ones and zeros crossed, there is no better experience on the OPO. Not giving up yet, but the writing is for sure on the wall.

They said V38 if you are using cm camera. So I would guess if using OOS blobs, you need to use the other. I am going o post about my lag issues over there and see what is said, so maybe keep an eye on that thread for more info.
Edit: Nevermind. I thought about turning off 'prevent accidental wakeup' and things are working great so far. Now to figure out the rebooting issues. Hopefully today's LOS update will fix.
I've been keeping my eye on that thread. Only reason I posted in here asking is because of the post suggesting to flash Lightening v56, OOS Blobs, and CameraNext. I thought someone running LOS had to have done this and had some feedback. I followed the steps last night and the camera is looking much better but the phone seems to be running warmer. I'm gonna give it a few days and see how it settles.

Not having warmer issues at all on this end. I will say this though... keep an eye on your battery drainage when phone is not in use. ie. in doze mode. You might need to flash a different modem. One thing I have also noticed on 14.1 is I rarely have signal, on any modem, until I turn wifi off. Probably a battery saving/nougat thing, but still kinda weird. The 01/25/2016 c7 modem works best for me as far as drainage is concerned. I wouldn't flash new modem firmware unless standby drainage is an issue. I originally did it because I had no data at all, and new modem didn't fix it anyways.

Best camera [Custom ROM]?

Hi everyone. I recently flashed a new ROM on this device trying to escape from the overheating, I was expecting a proper camera app but I only found bugs.
I tried Pixel Cam V1.1, I used it on MIUI and it was great but on RROS it became unusable.
Gcam MGC 8.1 by BSG worked but it only recognizes one sensor of 8mpx.
Also the UltraCVM UltraCam but it has so many bugs with lights that is unusable.
The chosen one was Tiger Camera Xmas release, it's almost perfect but trying panorama mode makes it unusable, fortunately the 2x and more are stable.
But I ask for someone that probably have tried another apps or xml config files.
I am considering install the MIUI stock camera from ANX but the POCO X3 isn't listed as compatible device and I don't want to root my phone to be honest. But if someone know about one functional version I will apply it as last resource.
I'm opening this thread to know your opinion, I researched on Gcam thread but it has too many versions that I've tried. I really liked all the sensors and the 64mpx so I need to find an app that takes me closer to use the full camera experience.
FYI, there a whole thread dedicated to Cams at https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/4164397/.

Yeah thanks, I put the same above "I'm opening this thread to know your opinion, I researched on Gcam thread but it has too many versions that I've tried" everybody are talking about updates of the updates with different dates and versions

Question Has anyone tried GSI ROMs? How're they compared to stock? (1 III/5 III)

The title is basically self-explanatory. I'm particularly interested in these things:
AOSP/LOS/anything clean: how's battery drain? More than on stock or not?
Camera: could we replace ours with gcam? Is 70-105 switch working well?
Camera: do we have smth like XperianceCamera?
What features are we losing with unlocking bootloader? None afaics, but I may have missed something.
Thanks in advance! :^)
About Xperia 5 IV. It works great to me.
1.- No idea, never used stock. I have strong dislikes on Google.
2.- It works fine with OpenCamera, all 4 cameras detected (front, back normal, back close, back wide).
3.- No idea, I would need to try.
4.- It works fine.
Looks like I wrote a novel so TLDR:
I suck at this stuff, just getting back into custom ROMs - tried Pixel Experience 13 and Lineage OS(no Play Services (I think Android 13/A13 Beta)).
Stock Sony Rom + Root is the way to go. At least for right now.
Wouldn't count on GCam working or working well.
(Sony) Photo Pro is proprietary too afaik so you'd need someone to port it to custom OS like Lineage without G Services (what I read someone feel free to correct me). It might work with LineageOS with G Services or whatever else, I didn't try it.
END OF TLDR:
ROM EXPERIENCES:
Pixel Experience was weird, probably worked fine but I don't think the dimensions of the Xperia 5 III work well with how PE is scaled. Just this users opinion. Also I really only tried it to try it- not a huge fan of Google lately.
Lineage OS almost worked but the version I had text messages didn't work. The default one or others from F-Droid. I'm positive its user error on my part. Battery life seemed great though, it's anecdotal but it seemed markedly better without Google constantly checking in. Probably my bias.
Its important to me to have some Sony Apps and overall functionality (seems like low dev support when comparing to other devices IE Galaxy/Pixel) so I think stock Sony ROM+ Rooted is the way to go. Seemingly the general consensus on the forum too (especially since its pretty stock Android anyway).
Bonus objectives for me on stock Sony Rom is to DeGoogle + MicroG although I haven't made it all the way there yet. Then maybe long term try a Xperia 5 IV ROM for sh*ts and giggles for Android 13 since I doubt the 5 III will get it.
FUNCTIONALITY:
Your questions about GCam and losing functionality: I have heard/seen a lot of things online about GCam either needing to be ported to devices individually or that its part of Google's "Special Sauce" software wise. So I would expect stripped functionality if functional at all.
Someone who is a lot smarter and experienced than me should clarify on these last two:
Downsides to an unlocked bootloader+Custom ROM is same as always: risk of user error, bricking your device (soft bricked mine), depending on the ROM you choose you may not have Google Apps/limited so Banking apps and streaming apps won't work or won't go all the way up the resolution chain 4k20 69 fps etc. And I'm sure there is a security disclaimer somewhere out there too if you aren't careful.
Pros are same as always: Control of your device, system wide ad blocker, admin rights to delete bloatware, customization, custom ROMs, better battery life, potentially longer OS support, privacy, security, etc.
RAMBLINGS OF GETTING BACK INTO ROOTING WITH THE X5 III
*In case there are others out there who are similar to me in either getting back into rooting after a long time or the first time*
I'm pretty much a novice at this stuff but I was finally able to get my phone unlocked a few weeks ago and tried a few different ROMs. Out of what I tried I really only remember the Pixel Experience and Lineage OS. PE was fine but I'm not a huge fan of all the Google stuff so I went in the opposite direction and did Lineage OS without the Google Play Store/Services/App Framework whatever. It was almost a keeper for me except messaging wasn't working for whatever reason ((I wonder ^^)but really I think it was because it was an A13 beta). I tried a few different messaging apps but between that and losing some Sony Apps I decided to back to stock.
I feel like the big points for this phone are the camera app, the display customization depending on the content viewed, and possibly the gaming tweaks/music app? Last two are a stretch but eh ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
The new plan was/is hoping to do was DeGoogle the stock ROM and replace it with MicroG. I haven't gotten around to it because the post I was looking at on how to do it on this forum linked to another post in a different forum and it was for Android 11. My phone is on Android 12. Looking at the comments people had said the process was the same for 12 as 11 or very similar. Shouldn't be too hard but knowing me it will take me another afternoon or two to get it figured out and working.
Long term I'm kind of hoping that when an Android 13 ROM comes out for the Xperia 5 IV we could try throwing it on our devices too. Since I doubt we will be getting Android 13 on the Xperia 5 III. I know the physical camera is different on the 5 IV but everything else seems close enough to a normie like me that maybe it would be worth it to try. Then its back to figuring out how to DeGoogle on an unsupported device and installing MicroG etc etc.
Sorry its such a late response and not the most technical (or maybe even 100% accurate) but that was at least my experience a bit ago trying a few different ROMs on the GSI thread linked in the "How To" post listed here.
This phone has really grown on me and I'm bummed I'm not savvy in any amount of Android development so I am unable to make customizations/tweaks to the stock ROM. Or customize other OS ROM's to port here. Which makes me reliant on others to do the work so I can leech off it haha. On more widely used phones like Samsung or the Pixel its NBD since there are so many users. But a small community like this, it doesn't seem like there is a lot being done. Not a dig or anything, just not a ton of options. Although being able to install a ton of different custom ROMS from the GSI thread is really cool even if it isn't tailored to the Xperia 5 III.
Part of why I threw up so much info on here goes with the last paragraph. You probably won't get a lot of responses. There aren't a ton of peeps here and those who are generally already know what they are doing.
If you end up trying a bunch of different ROMs and find one you really like LMK!
+1 to that. I don't get 5G and had bad time trying to obtain signal. It doesn't worth.

If you don't mind a customized one, try crDroid
i would like to try custom ROM's but since no TWRP anymore to get for the Xperia's i hate to reinstall everything just to test something new.
