How much anti-fingerprint is the screen? - Google Pixel 3a Questions & Answers

I'm noticing that now it leaves much my fingers on it. I'm not sure if i didn't notice at beginning or something happened.
If you finger you screen and you turn the phone a bit do you notice much a track of it?

LCD not responsive at the edge...because of the case?

Hi all,
It seems to me that the edge of the lcd screen is not responsive (both left and right) at times when I put it inside a leather case(similar to theM1 case). If I take it out of the case, it's very responsive.
Does anyone notice the same problem?
Thanks.
I've brought that up before. Out of the case the screen is very responsive all over. In a case it's much less responsive around the edges. If you use the screen calibration apk it helps a little, and I find you get a better response around the edges using your thumb than pointer.
I don't know of any real solution, or what causes it.

glad to know i am not the only one with the problem.
My guess is that the case must touch the tablet somewhere that confuses the touch sensor.
mine did this for a little while and then just went away. the calibration didn't help and reloading the ROM didn't either.

Can you try to remember what you could have done to make it go away? Changed or modified the case in anyway?
It's so annoying.
It seems as if the G-Tablet's touch sensor is EXTREMELY sensitive. It even detected my headphone wire touching it. I knew this because when I would touch it at the same time the wire was on it, it would start spazzing out. Remove the wire, effect gone. Be happy that this thing is ultrasensitive. Could be worse, could be a resistive touchscreen.
its not possible it is a capcitative touch screen. I am experiencing the same problem I think it has do with part of our finger is on the case and not on the screen. If i press on it and roll it side to side a bit it will pick up my touch
I have found that using live wallpapers reduces the responsiveness of the touch screen especially around the edges.
Base on my experience with these device in the past, all the live wallpaper does is eat up your cpu horsepower. You want your device to operate at its optimum, yes? Just use a regular wallpaper. Kill all non-essential tasks.
Unfortunately I don't have any productive advice but I can tell you that I bought the p4 case off of steve (great website fast shipping) and a capacitive stylus. Like you described it was totally unresponsive toward the edges. I tried the calibration app and no significant success. After a couple of days use it started registering the touches consistently.

[Q] Pressing the Screen - LCD Distorts

Can anyone else press the screen semi hard with one finger and distort the LCD screen too?
I know it is not normal for anyone to be pressing that hard, but I just want to make sure I do not have a defect before my 14 days return window closes.
Thanks
ive done it before and that happens. It seems to have the same effect on all lcd/led screens with a bit of pressure. IMHO totally normal.

Thanks for the response. I know LCD screens do that, I just wanted to make sure that there wasn't an issue with the glass flexing and pushing on the LCD screen.
So if yours is doing it, then I'm OK with mine doing it too. It's not like we are going to be pressing that hard anyway.
Thanks!
You do know the L in LCD means liquid? If you press hard on any LCD screen this will happen. you are displacing the liquid under the screen. You aren't hurting anything. It corrects itelf in a matter of seconds.
The xoom has a really thin glass panel, this is most likely the reason you can distort the liquid easily
How this distortion looks? It could help discern what type of LCD Xoom is using. (for example pressing my PVA screen show a dark smudge)
angry birds causes me to do this now and then!
I get white smudges. I thought that Gorilla glass would have less flex.
Does it look like this?
I returned mine, as the first one I have doesn't exhibit this. Yes, if you press if really hard, any LCD would show this, but this is barely a tap. I'm using my Wacom stylus here, but it's the same with just my finger. It's actually worst in person, but you can clearly see it happening on the video. And it's only on the right hand side of the screen also, so it's definitely a defect. On mine anyway.

Actually, if you look it up on youtube, there are some videos showing how tough it is that also show how surprisingly flexible it is. It's pretty impressive stuff.

Yeah...mine is mostly on the right side into the center. Center to the left, it gets really hard to do it.
it's easier on the right side than the left on mine too but i still kinda have to push a bit. if you push in on the back panel on the right side it does it too.

[Q] Raster pattern on screen??

I've read alot about people having some issues wit the screen but nog this
one:
As soon as I booted the Transformer the first time I noticed a raster/grid like overlay on the screen on brighter backgrounds (i.e. whites like this forum). This is probably the touch part of the screen and it is only sometimes noticable and not pronounced enough to irritate or annoy. I first didn't think of it as a real "defect" or "issue" but I did not read anything similar on this forum. Thus i'am wondering if this is "normal" or not. Do you noticed anything similar?
I noticed it when I breathed on the screen before wiping it with a cloth, the screen was off at the time. I didn't notice it with the screen on though.
Jh, I experienced that too whn i was wiping the scren with a moist (water) cloth
Nobody else having this
that grid is indeed for the touch, i see it on all my capacitive devices to some degree with the screen off, never with the screen on though.
I see it on mine when the screen is off. I do see it with the screen on but usually when it has a crapload of hand grease. Some windex makes it look good again. Is this common for tabs? Mine is not even straight, the grid is way off center. Does the Douche....i mean ipads have this?
Notied this on mine first day I got it too, but only see it in sunlight with screen off. And no the iPad does NOT have this wierd pattern on the screen.

[Q] Screen doesn't

It may be dirty or greasy, but I still do not think that is the main problem...
I feel like whatever "coating," if any exists, has worn out. My screen has gotten to the point where it is kind of irritating. Also, when the screen is black, but still lit up, there are parts that are darker than others. I have also noticed my screen being less responsive in some areas...having to use force...It also seems to be in areas that I touch the most. Then again, I would notice it more when those areas are unresponsive, so I can't be certain (seems likely).
I never bought a screen protector because I don't scratch my screen. I shouldn't need to buy a screen protector to protect from INTENDED USE on a 600$ (or whatever) product, so that kind of advice isn't very useful. And it seems that even if I did apply a screen protector at this point, it wouldn't work.
If I gotta buy a new screen...unbelievable...
Anyone else have a similar problem? Am I just not cleaning it well enough?
Thanks

REALLY sensitive screen?

What is with this screen? Is it just my model? Sometimes I notice even the slightest touches will cause the weird liquid moving effect behind the screen, what you would normally see if you press down on an LCD panel with a lot of pressure. Is anyone else experiencing this? I even notice it just when I clamp my iPega 9023 to the tablet.
I just had a go then and pressed my screen to see if I could get distortion. I had to press really hard on the screen to get the liquid crystal to distort. Certainly harder than I would normally using the tablet.
Do you mean it flickers? Could you make a video showing the failure?
If you are referring to flickering, it started since 5.0.1. They say they aredworking on it and should be fixed on the next release.
