Hi!
I can't for the heck of me find which surface pro 6 firmware files I need, where to download them and where to copy them to. I read through the surface related how-to for bliss, but that is quite vague and also does not mention surface pro 6.
Currently, I can't get the touch screen to work, power or volume buttons don't work and also the battery indicator doesnt work. Wifi and keyboard worked out of the box.
Can someone point me to the right files and also where to copy them to?
Thank you so much for your help!
Found my own solution after some trial&error
How?
If you could tell me how you got the touchscreen working it would be appreciated
Here is what I did:
Download the following zips as described in the below link for "series 5" devices
https://docs.blissroms.com/Bliss OS/installation-guide/#specific-surface-model-instructions
Ipts v102
I915 kbl
Unzip both and store on a USB stick
Boot bliss
Open "files" app
Copy both directories to a local folder, e.g. into "downloads"
Then download root browser classic from the Google play store.
With that, simply copy the ipts folder from downloads to system/lib/firmware/Intel (I deleted the existing ipts folder before copying the new one over. Not sure if that's necessary)
and the files within the kbl folder into system/lib/firmware/I915 (again, I deleted all files starting with "kbl..." before I copied the new ones over.
I am sure there is a more ellegant way, but this worked for me.
Thanks, I had got that working myself with a similar trial and error approach too. But I still have a problem with the power / volume / battery and the general ACPI settings. I can see all the patches in the kernel folders within lib.
Adding the drivers soc_button_array and surfacepro3_buttons as I have found to try and fix it don't seem to do anything and I can't find the surface_acpi kernel module to inject which is on some of the surface-linux posts.
I think it may be time to look at installing Ubuntu on my Mac and building a proper Surface Pro 6 Kernel for BlissOS unless anyone has any other suggestions?
I have the same issues with the volume and power buttons. But I got around that by installing apps: for example, there is a simple app that will shut down or restart your surface by tapping on the icon
Now I have the next challenge: I also have a surface 7 and none of the exist existing Android builds even boot when trying to install. Looks like I have to wait and hope there will be a build soon that also includes the necessary surface pro 7 files

Same as posted here "I have an HTC [differing: Touch Pro (Alltel CDMA)]. I followed the instruction on forum.xda-developers.com for [FRX*] but it [enters an endless loop] at "task rpcrouter:15 blocked for more than 120 sec". The solution that worked in that link does not solve the same problem with a CDMA RAPH800.
The solution given there (paraphrased from that thread):
Link to the fix. The issue is caused by not having a data plan; the install gets stuck in a loop looking for a signal.
The solution that worked for a GSM phone
download RIL file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...9&d=1302817139 and place in the root of microsd.
download rootfs file from http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1NGCVCTT and place in the root of microso.
add to the end of /conf/froyo.user.conf file "/sdcard/libhtcgeneric-ril.so /lib/froyo/libhtcgeneric-ril.so" before the last "}"
Please help me find a solution for a CDMA phone - next month I'd like to take a dozen of these phones and use them as learning aids in a construction course for laborers, but I cannot start testing construction applications since I cannot get the OS to work.
I'm curious as to what happens when you format your microSD and run FRX7.1MR without anything additional. Could I get you to try this method without the additional stuff?
To be explicit, I'd like you to format your microSD with something other than the Windows method and I'd like you to download THIS (if you haven't already) and THIS. Extract the contents of both files to the root of your microSD. You should see a folder called "FRX07.1" and under that folder, you should see 3 folders and 7 files. Move the contents of that folder up to the root of the microSD. Look under the folder called "STARTUPS" and locate your device type (ie RAPH800) and copy over to the root of your microSD. Once done, run Haret on your phone and let me know what happens.
do you have an application you suggest for "format your microSD with something other than the Windows method"; sourceforge did not turn up anything.

use SDFormatter
wow that SDformatter link has a lot of popups - this link feels less like I just found a date at the bus-stop sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3 ; but it will not install on either Server2008R2 x64 or Server2003 R2 SP2 x32.
I reformatted the microSd with the format tool in Server2008R2 as FAT format. Installed the files, and boom - I see little green guys swirling around the screen. After awhile a dialog appeared "Sorry! The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"; the dialog closed and it seems like it works! Thank you. I will try again with the HPtool and as FAT32.
Now I just need to learn how to use Android - and the screen calibration seems off? Deleting ts-calibration and rebooting to calibrate.
Glad to hear using the latest bundle works for you! Yeah, that might be a slight issue with an outdated kernel. The main thing I wanted to do is get you booted up first!
Before we continue, make sure you make a backup of your current configuration by copying the contents of the microSD and either moving it to your computer or some other storage device. This way you know you have a "working" bundle.
Next we update the kernel package from HERE; might I suggest using THIS kernel package. Be sure to delete the old files (should be located under root of the microSD and called modules-xxx and zImage) first! Extract till you see two files then rename zImage-xxx to just zImage and feel free to delete the files you extracted from. I've always created my own ts-calibration file but just wanted you to have it, "just in case".
Additionally, you may also need to update the rootfs by deleting the file called rootfs and downloading THIS file. Extract the file and rename to just rootfs and be sure to place it where the file called Haret is (default location is root of the microSD).
files are downloaded and installed - everything seems to work
Hi all! Have been having a play with UpdatezipCreator for windows. Put all of the .apk files into a folder called:
“System”
As suggested in the UpdatezipCreator wiki. However, when I run the gapps file in clockwork Mod, it completely ignores what I have done. Also, for some reason, it places all files into a directory, one level down and the directory is called whatever I have named the .zip. is this normal or, am I missing some vital step. Would like to get this working as I would like to add missing accessibility components to the gapps file that I am using in order to get ICS talking out of the box with my Sony Xperia Pro. Am also interested in getting this going so that I can assist other visually impaired users with this. Finally, am open to creating gapps files with other methods in Windows. Thanks in advance for all help with this. It’s really appreciated!
I was looking for a similar topic but I did not find one. Refers to problems with running applications added to "system.img".
I bought UMIDIG S for my father-in-law. It is based on a mediatec chipset. Unfortunately, soft is tragic, and there is no full translation, so I decided to bury it a bit in "system.img".
I can easily install the file in Linux and make changes in it. I can delete applications, I can make changes in configuration files and "buikd.prop".
Unfortunately, all APK files were uploaded to "system.img" even though I set permissions 755 for directories, and 644 for directories. Although the files are root: root, after uploading such "system.img" none of these applications works for the phone. The system sees them and tries to load. Unfortunately, applications hang because of errors. The system informs that the application hangs, and does not load its window. The icons of these applications and the names do not appear either (applications have green robocik as icon, and domain name, e.g. com.android.clock ....)
I am asking for advice. How to add APK files to the unzipped "system.img" so that after packing and uploading to the phone there were no errors ???
Do you have found how add app in system.img?
It's all around, but you can replace apps with others. In the linux system, unpack the img, and mount them. Then you can freely rename files as well as move files within the .img mount point
I chose the applications or other files I did not need, and moved them to the directories (which I named my applications). If the application needed libraries, you also had to get files in a similar way, and place them in arm or arm64 directories.
Then prepared files "stuffed" with data, using the command DD. That is, dd if = (source file) of = (the recipient file at the system.img mount point).
Thanks for reply, so this only on Linux? For Windows there is something?

I do not know, I do not use Windows. Certainly you can in a similar way from BSD systems, probably from Android and MacOS. I read something that Microsoft can somehow support linux shell, but I do not know the details. You can always use some distribution that works with a pendrive.
Thanks, I will try again

You can use Virtual Box to run a Linux distro inside Windows or you can try using Cygwin.

ROM Explorer
From time to time I need to extract some files from various Android ROMs. So far I downloaded the ROM file and then started to search for further tools to extract files from the downloaded ROM. If all went well I ended up with an image I could open with ext4_unpacker to finally extract the files I needed. This whole procedure took a lot of time, involved tools from unknown sources and often simply didn't work. So I decided to create my own tool.
ROM Explorer can directly open the following files:
zip archives with img or new.dat entries
Samsung md5 archives
Sony ftf archives
Huawei update.app archives
img/ext4 image files
lz4 image files (used by Samsung)
sin fies (used by Sony)
In case you have a file which is not supported let me know. Maybe I find the time to add support. Or simply add it yourself - ROM Explorer is Open Source.
Usage
Download the installer and run it or build your own version with Visual Studio 2017.
Start the executable. You will see a window similar to ext4_unpacker. In the first line you select a file, in the second line you can choose an archive entry if the file is an archive file.
Loading a file or archive entry can take a significant amount of time and disk storage. ROM Explorer may need to create temporary files with several gigabytes. A fast flash disk helps a lot!
You can extract files or folders by dragging and dropping them to Windows Explorer.
Downloads
ROM Explorer 0.9
ROM Explorer 0.9.1
Thanks To
ROM Explorer would not exist without the distributed knowledge of this forum. Especially I want to thank worstenbrood, Androxyde, IgorEisberg for their work.
So I'm waiting for your comments - but be patient it may take some time for me to react
Reserved for whatever purpose...

Let me try and report you back
Thank you I will try this out. Thanks too for making it open source

0.9.1 should fix this. Be sure to first uninstall before installing 0.9.1.
After hours of google search and downloading countless apps that dont work I found this. This app is legit and works on windows 10 64bit. Thank you for your work.
Your app is GREAT! Thanks for sharing it.
Edit: Answered my own question. Windows 10 tip "Run As Administrator" and dont drag files "to the desktop" but instead to an Explorer window.
Can this program find the differences between compiled ROMs?
I ask this question because Xiaomi on the Mi 9 released an initial kernel with sourcecode that was changed over time without updating the GitHub https://github.com/MiCode/Xiaomi_Kernel_OpenSource/tree/cepheus-p-oss and because of this change, the ROMs have something different between how they connect to the cameras. The old ROM versions (4/1/2019 and before) connect fine to the cameras, but post that date, a custom kernel built from the GitHub source will fail to connect to the cameras. Since the change has not been made open source on GitHub, there has to be another way to find and patch new kernel builds in order for them to work. Would your software be able to extract these changes? If not, do you have any other ideas which may? Much appreciated.
Hello,
I switched to s21 ultra few days ago, and i am facing a problem with heroes 3 hd game.
Iused zarchiver to be able to access data and obb folders, i put obb folder there, i installed the heroes 3 apk as usual, but it says that failed to unpack files.
Any one have an idea how to make this working,
Thanks
Obb is not an Android installation package. It's an application's data file.
You manually have to place APK's obb-folder into Android/data/obb.
I know, as i said on andoird 11 and 12 it didnt work the apk says "Failed to unpack".
same apk and obb on android 10 are working fine.
the game is Heroes 3 HD

I might have figured out a solution. Testing now/tonight. I figured that if it's "unpacking" something, that means it's extracting files. Since Android 11 and more so with 12, Google locked down storage access with scoped storage. Thinking the app doesn't have write permissions to "unpack" the files where they need to go.
So... I installed everything on my old Nexus 9 running Android 8.1. The storage issues aren't there. It unpacked just fine. So I looked for the unpacked files. In the storage location Android/Data/ubisoft.heroesandmightandmagic (whatever the folder name is), the obb files have been extracted to several folders and game files. I'm zipping these right now and next I'll be copying them to my Samsung S22+ on Android 12 and extracting the files where they should go. Crossing my fingers this is the solution. If it is, I need to think about how to distribute the unpacked files for others to use.
EDIT: Well... that didn't work.... sorry to get excited.
hello. I have similiar isues on my smasung Tab S8 and i have theory why it doesnt work. Idk about android 11 but check what android 12 are you running, there is android 12 and 12l variant. My phone samsung S10e with android 12 managed to unpack the game (i have insrted file with obb to android/obb and empty com.heroes..... file to android/data) u can try it but not sure if it wasnt just luck. But it could theoreticaly be by smaller screen? could it be that game itself could run scan and if requrments are met it will unpack? about alternatives VCMI has reaaaaly dumb AI and exagear strategies runs great BUT! you have only 3day trail and unable to purchase unlimited time (exagear strategies can by fixed by third party software withour rooting device but the app is uses root it self and is huge security risk so i am not fan of that)
sooo yeah
I also found out that the heroes 3 have problem with androi/data. If you extract obb files (app data) into com.heroes...... file in android/data (created manualy) and past it there it is linked with the game (small icon on the file) but wont increase size of the game if you check it so the problem might just be android/data on some devices.
alright. if you want heroes III but there is not any way of making it work then i recommend exagear windows emulator. its a longer procces then exagear strategies but gets the job done and gameplay is great and without paying (with S-pen gameplays is MUCH better that original Homm3 HD port). You need 3 things: exagear APP and OBB, Homm 3 (MUST be instalation files) restoration of earthia, shadow of death, complete or even horn of the abys (they are compatible with Homm 3 HD launcher) and lastly Homm 3 HD mod launcher(same here only instalation file) (it will fix crashing and add some nice features even online multiplayer : ) ,setup: 1. instal exagear app 2. open and close 3. put its OBB into android/OBB/exagear 4. put your Homm 3 and Homm 3 HD mod launcher instalations files into download folder 5. open exagear and press manage containers 6. then click on three dots and proceed: properties, 32 bit and turn off last three options 7. again three dots and press run browser 8. you will se files browser, INSTAL Homm 3 (homm3 setup/autorun) 9. then instal Homm3 HD mod 10.open HD mod launcher and press create HD exe . enjoy : )
If you somehow strugle check some videos on YT or ask me!
Lets goo
I accidentally found a solution. I wanted to manually extract the .obb files (which I never did) so I downloaded ZArchiver from Google play. Then I opened one of the .ogg files with the extractor and in the process the app asked for more permissions to the Android/ogg folder. Then I couldn't figure outo how to extract the files and I gave up. Then I tried the launcher again for some reason and it extracted The files and launched the game. So I guess the problem, atleast for me was insufficient permissions on Android/ogg folder. I'm running Android 11.
