[Q] Flashing permanent TWRP to slot A and B?

Hi all,
I'm still a little unsure about the A and B slots and how it works.
If my device active slot is A with a custom ROM and permanent TWRP on it, then I flash another custom ROM and reboot to make my active slot B, and flash TWRP again will I have permanent TWRP on both slots at that point?
I understand that there is no recovery partition and recovery is included in the boot partition.....is the boot partition part of a custom ROM and therefore can a custom ROM include TWRP by default?
Thanks for any clarification you can provide.
with fastboot method u just boot to twrp (not flashing) when u install the TWRP installer zip, it installs to both partitions, so it does not matter which partition u are on or switch too, u will still have root until u flash a modified/stock/other boot img

I get your question and it's a good one. I'm not here to give you answers but to expand a little based on some common knowledge. It does seem like (regarding you scenario) that you should have two working partitions at that point, just one a little behind the other. That's purely speculative on my part though because I really don't know what happens with the old active partition once the new one gets privilege. Maybe someone with more experience could come in. It seems to be basically like a dual boot setup, but I don't think that's actually how it works. If it did, we would be hearing more about dual booting and such.

Updated to 5.1.7 from 5.1.6 so I made a backup. Booted phone after backup and.....

Ok so I was on oxygen 5.1.6 and I downloaded the update for 5.1.7. I booted into twrp flashed it booted up and was in 5.1.7. I boooted back to twrp and made a backup. I booted after backup and phone went back to 5.1.3. WTF?! I had to reflash the update, reinstall the twrp installer zip and root once again. I also noticed that If u change slots you will boot into the unrooted version of your rom and the other is the rooted version. What's the deal with the two slots in twrp. I can see where in the future this will have advantages but it's kind of confusing at the moment. Does anyone know why my phone went back to 5.1.3 after a backup and can anyone explain why there is two slots now and the sole purpose of them within twrp.
I thought twrp and magisk flashed both slots?
a/b partition is just for /system iirc
a/b partition exists for all the partitions as seen in /dev/block/platform/soc/1d84000.ufshc/by-name. When you updated from 5.1.3 (let's say slot a) to 5.1.6, it updated 5.1.6 to slot b and set it as the active slot. When you updated 5.1.7 via twrp, I think it just writes over your current active slot (which is also b), so my guess is you updated slot b to 5.1.7 and slot a is still 5.1.3. Not sure how your active slot switched after booting into 5.1.7, but that's my best guess as to what happened.
If you take the OTA normally, the phone will write to the inactive slot and overwrite boot.img as well as all the other partitions, then set the active partition to the new slot

TWRP and Slots Help

I was trying to update my OP6 to OOS 9.0.8.
I downloaded the full OTA and booted into TWRP, flashed the new update img, and forgot to flash TWRP and rebooted to system. No worries, I went to fastboot and installed TWRP via adb. All was good until this point. But after I flashed Magisk zip in one slot B, slot A files all appear gibberish.
I don't know how to proceed. The device proceeds to boot on slot B all fine, latest OOS, and rooted. But booting to slot A always loops to TWRP.
I'd appreciate any help. Thanks in advance!
It's possible it's because you have a different ROM (or version) installed on slot B. The userdata partition is shared between slots so trying to boot into the "unused" slot could potentially cause a boot loop.
But otherwise I'd guess your B slot has become corrupted somehow. I had a similar problem recently. You can fix it by reflashing both slots, see this thread.

Nokia 6.2 TA-1198 Stock Boot.Img

Please, I followed this post [https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-6-2/development/unofficial-twrp-3-3-1-0-team-win-t3999433] and flashed the TWRP.Img file from fastboot instead of booting it. Now, my WIFI is no longer working and I have been told that flashing the Stock boot.img will fix it. I do not know where to get it from. Please, Can someone share it or point me to a link where I can download it.
On which securitylevel are you?
I would also need this / a complete stock rom
I'm at Patch level December 5 and my A slot works fine / is stock, but I cannot get my B slot to work.
Now updates are broken and I do not have root.
If your phone boots fine, everything seems to be ok.
The inactive slot contains the previous Patchlevel boot.img. It can not boot, as I know, the current Patchlevel system.
Dd your working stock boot.img and patch it with Magisk Manager. Then try to boot with it.
HTML:
fastboot boot patched_boot_a.img
If it boots and you got root everything is fine and you can flash it.
Ota check's the state of your partitions like system.
If you ever mounted it rw (like Adaway does) it fails the hash test and blocks ota.

opo7p lineage twrp modem

I have a problem. After updating lineage to version of Jan. 11, I flashed twrp again, because the update always puts the own recovery tool.. (annoying)..
I did use the extra menu from twrp and did not install the same way as I normally flash zips..
Slot A is active..
I additionally had to fix bootloop..
But I lost the modem function (cellular).. WiFi still working..
I reboot in twrp, slot a is active. If I now activate slot B, I get a message, mount failed. The data partition is not visible on B. Only on A.
So I only can use slot A right now..
The partition is not encrypted, I removed the pin.
But it boots too fast and cellular fails..
What can I do?
