Hello!
Some time ago, I used ADB to get rid of some Google apps that nobody uses (Play Movies, Play Music, Play Books and stuff), but while I was doing that I must've deleted something I wasn't supposed to because I don't get any notifications for some apps anymore (Discord, Instagram, Reddit, Snapchat etc.)
I was able to track down the problem to Google Play Services. I noticed that whenever I "refresh" them (reinstall, disable, enable, etc.) any notifications that I didn't get in the past few hours just rush in at once.
Does anyone know how I can fix this? Thanks.
P.S. - notifications also don't work when the phone is off, and sometimes rush in when I unlock it

So, I just bought my TF700 (upgraded from a TF101) and updated to the latest firmware.I did 3 system restores followed by a cold boot to make sure everything would run fine. I then disabled many apps I won't use after reading this thread. I disabled the following: @vibe Fun Center, ASUS E-mail, ASUS Facebook Poster, ASUS MyZine, ASUS Sync, ASUS Weather, Browser, Clock, com.asus.pcsynclauncher, Face Unlock, Google Play Books, Google Play Magazines, Google Play Movies & TV, Google Play Music, MyBitCast, MyCloud, MyNet, Netflix, Nvidia Glowball Demo Installer, PressReader, Talk, TalkBack, and Zinio.
Now, notifications keep popping up, but it's just notifications for the cards in Google Now and Battery Widget? Reborn! Auto Airplane doesn't keep popping up. When the notifications do pop up, it's not like it has something to say, but, instead, it's like the apps are restarting. The Battery Widget? Reborn! app is not an app that pops up with information just an email or the Facebook app. It just stays in the lower right with the battery level. This app and auto airplane are the apps that start when I turn on the tablet. I renabled Google+ and Browser, but it did nothing. I changed the process limit in developer options back to standard and it didn't fix it. I'll just be browsing in Chrome and the battery info or weather and cards via Google Now pop up. It does it every few minutes, too.
One more thing. It seems like the battery on this device runs out very quickly. I was just browsing the web in Chrome for fifteen minutes or so and the battery went down seven percent or so. Is that normal?
I appreciate any help. Thank you.
I know this is only a work around, but if you go into settings then apps, you can turn off notifications for the individual apps...

I'll give it a try. I appreciate the info. I'm disabling all the same apps on my TF101 to see if it has the same issue.
HI guys, I've got a real head scratcher and for the first time in every aspect of my life a Google search hasn't come through for me.
Background: Completely stock Nexus 4 - 4.4.3
Completely stock Nexus 7 - 4.4.2
No task or app killers
Problem: Out of no where when swiping away any music player (Google Play Music, Shuttle+, Wiizm etc) the music is killed!? The phone seems to be preventing the app from running in the background. I can hit the menu hot key and open other apps and music will play fine, it just won't continue playback if app is swiped.
I've also noticed I no longer get any form of mini player in the notification pull down or notification (headphones, play symbol etc) in the status bar if I have music playing unless I swipe the app but by which time the music has been killed!
What I've tried: Numerous searches, factory reset, uninstalling and reinstalling apps, cache and data clearing and even a different user account.
I could completely understand that something could corrupt or I could possibly hit a setting I've never seen before causing this to happen but surely a factory reset would resolve it? To add insult to injury my Nexus 7 has gone exactly the same way with the same symptoms. I don't even have the same music players on the individual device so I can't blame it on one particular app.
It driving me insane! Does anyone have any suggestions?
I experienced the second part of your problem, GPM no longer was in my notification bar+shade. Searched everywhere and your post was the only one I could find related to my problem. Curiously I checked the app under >Settings>Applications>Google Play Music and noticed that the notifications check box was not checked so I checked it and now everything is back to normal. Really can't remember if I turned it off myself or if upgrading to 4.4.3 had something to do with it.

have you tried using 3rd party music players?
Hello
Ever since the Google Play Services update from a week or so ago I get this continuous notification. Does anyone know how to stop it? I updated to the latest G.P.S. from a few days ago and it still there. I do not have Wear installed or a AW device (yet) and Bluetooth is always off. It can't be dismissed and clicking it doesn't nothing.
Anyone else getting this?
bump
anyone else has gotten this message pop up?
I'm having this problem as well. I previously had a moto 360 which I sold and I then uninstalled the app. Probably around the same time as you, I started getting the notification (I noticed it coincided with a google play services update as well) but this was long after I had uninstalled the android wear app.
I can't turn off bluetooth, otherwise my pebble would be useless, so that isn't a solution for me (though it sounds like that doesn't work anyway). Long pressing on the notification to bring up app info tells me the Google Play services is the app responsible for the notification. Rebooting the phone gets rid of the notification temporarily but it always seems to come back.
I've just tried clearing the cache for g p s and rebooted so I will have to wait and see if it comes back.
A search of the android wear subreddit shows three people there have had the same issue so that makes 5 of us (or 4 if you are one of them), but no solution.
It's hard to tell how much it has impacted my battery but google play services is right at the top of the list for battery usage on my phone lately
I am running the O Beta with the Google Play Services beta as well. Today all of a sudden every time I load Android Messages it tells me that Google Play Services has stopped. This also means I get no text notifications. I only see a message if I open the app and see an unread message. if I switch to Pulse, I get the notifications, but I still get the Google Play Services has stopped message.
I have gone into settings and cleared the cache, that didn't help. I have restarted my phone 2 times.
What can I do?
New to OnePlus and loving the phone.
Just noticed today every now and then I get a Lockscreen notification from Android System but not been quick enough to see it properly yet. I think it's Google Play Services is using GPS. Play services states last entry was over 13 hours ago but a notification came up around 15 mins ago.
When I look in the Notification Tab in settings it's only usual culprits there. Google Play Store, Whatsapp etc but doesnt show anything from the system itself.
Not a biggie at all but curious where it's coming from and wether I can disable that. Tried to disable play store.
Thanks
BTW - Who would have thought that to use vibrate only would involve a slider (what I get for not reading the instructions!!!!!! )
