See the attached screenshot - it says I used ~1.5G over the last 3 days (note: this is roughly consistent with Verizon's online data tracker, which shows ~1.43G used, so I DO think the data was actually used).
But when you add up all the apps it shows data used for, it only comes to a few hundred megabytes.
I tried moving the start date back a day and that didn't help.
That's a lot of data to use in 3 days (I'm usually on wifi most of the day), so I'm trying to figure out what used it. Perhaps a system app, but it looks like the data usage calculator includes them.
Any ideas? Thanks.

I noticed this as well. Thought it was some sort of glitch on the phone but my carrier info shows the same data usage.
Same here, seems to be a typical galaxy issue if you Google it.
Even more dramatic in my case... Latest FW...
It seems to be getting worse for me - had another day with a gig of unexplained usage. I'm pushing up against my data cap so am really curious what's going on.

Title - meant to say randomly lose service and have to reboot
I have only had this happen about 3 times since owning the phone (since two weeks after launch). Occasionally, my phone will altogether lose service and display the blue circle with a slash through it, and I have to reboot the phone to regain service. This happens in an area where I have signal usually, when this happens. Does anyone else have this issue?
I had a problem similar to this last night/this morning. I didn't make any changes/mods to the phone either...
Phone was on the charger last night and when I woke up this morning I noticed I didn't have any emails. I still had the 3G icon and 2 signal bars, but anything I would try to do using internet connectivity wouldn't work (checking mail, navigating to google.com, etc.). I just shrugged it off since this has been the first time it happened.
For what it's worth, I'm running JF6 with UnleashTheBeast and the circle battery meter thing...
RE: Network loss, etc.
I've had issues like this from day one. From my testing, it seems to be related to the radios. (Both wifi and 3g.)
Stock was horrid for me, but then again, I live/work in a place with really crappy radio reception. It was tough to tell if the 3g or voice network service losses were just "the location" or something with the phone. But the fact that it's doing it with WIFI when I'm 3 feet from my AP, and no other devices are having issues is telling. Things have stabilized a bit with one of the SRE 1.2 OC builds.
That, and I'm now having intermittent sound issues too. (Can't play ringtones for a few minutes, then I can, then I can't, etc. )
I'm actually starting to suspect it's relating to the blocking filesystem lag. Almost as if some app is just killing the FS. I'll keep investigating. But it's good to know I'm not the only user who is seing service drops in strange ways.
I'm having similar issues with data connection, and i'm completely stock at the moment. My coverage is great so it just doesn't make sense.

Yeah, it's completely random when it happens, and it has happened two out of three times in an area where I have service...
I have been having really bad connectivity recently. I have been having issues sending text messages, having slow data speeds, and really flaky reception. And all of these issues in places where I normally have no issues at all, in fact, I dont think I have ever really had issues like this before. Even when the phone says I have signal it still has issues some times. Being outdoors I dont seem to have issues sending text messages, but I still have poor data speeds. However, as soon as I went inside I had almost no reception to absolutely no reception at all. I know some of this could just be related to AT&T towers but my girlfriend is on AT&T too and hasn't had any issues sending messages, she has a "dumb phone" though if that matters. Other things I noticed as far as signal, it would sometimes have data connections shown, but sometimes it wouldn't show anything and under about phone it would say "mobile network is not connected".
I was on 11/4 CM10 when I started having the issues. Tried flashing a couple new MTD modems, checked APN settings, rebooted, wiped cache, airplane mode toggle, but none of that fixed anything. I did a one-click restore back to GB and wiped everything on my phone, internal SD too, then re-downloaded the 11/4 build and reflashed that. Everything seemed to be better for a while but then I noticed that I was having poor data speeds, issues sending messages, and poor signal again. Now I one-clicked back to stock GB again and didn't change anything and only downloaded a couple of apps that I use often to see if it was CM10 that was the issue, but once again I am finding myself with problems sending messages and very poor data speeds. Also, I notice sometimes that wifi connections seems to get dropped during usage and even though it still is connected it gives me errors.
At this point I'm not really sure what I should start looking into. Is is possible that the internal antenna is flaking out or got fried somehow? Or is it possible that it is on AT&T's side? That option seems most unlikely. I haven't dropped my phone or done anything recently that would seem like it would cause my phone to have these issues. Is there a way to test my phone to see if there is something internally messed up? Should I try getting a new sim? Anything else I can do to try and troubleshoot stuff? Any logs or anything you guys need to give me better ideas?
Thanks in advanced!
Edit: Well, in the process now of doing another full return to stock using GTG's method now. See if that makes any difference by the time I get cm10 installed again.
Edit 2: Decided to call the local AT&T store and apparently there had been a couple reports of connection problems but the lady seem a little surprised by how much I seemed to be effected. We'll see if they get that fixed soon and if that fixes my problems. Still having issues with wifi though...
Any ideas anyone? I'm don't know if the att tower is really sucking that much or if it's my phone. Beginning to think it's my phone more and more. Any suggestions please? I can't get an upgrade for another 2 months and this is getting really annoying not being able to use my phone as a phone..

Bumping this thread cause its happening again.
It did seem to be slightly related to the AT&T towers being down because it went away after a day or so after talking to the local store. However, they said the outage lasted only 3 hours and I had issues for a couple of days.
Anyways, yesterday I started having these exact same issues, called AT&T and they said towers seem fine. Asked them about it maybe being my SIM card and they said that 98% likely it wasn't my SIM card. I might go make them replace my SIM card since we pay them obscene amounts of money each month. As far as the phone, it still has Scotts 11/4 CM10 build with the 11/18 kernel patch. Only thing that really changed in the phone physically was I just purchased a 32gb class 10 memory card. The one thing that makes me think it might be my SIM card is there are darker spots in a couple of spots on the gold plating where it looks like it makes the contacts.
Still looking for advice though.
TLDR; super flaky reception, I go indoors in most places and I loose all connectivity. I normally have completely fine coverage everywhere. No issues up until about 3 weeks ago.
I have had ATT for 10 years and have never had good reception indoors. Only reason I am still with them is Verizon is practically a dead zone were I live.
I ran Scott's CM10 and now Liquidsmooth and didn't notice any increase or decrease in signal strength.

The thing is I've been running cm10 of some variety more or less since it's early life and I haven't had issues. It's just on these certain days for certain reasons I have no connectivity in certain places. Most every other days I have no problem getting an H+ data signal and no problem sending or receiving messages in these exact same spots.
I just don't understand these sudden random losses of connection.
Edit: What do you know. Phone is back to normal functioning today. This is wierd...

Hey Guys,
I've been playing around with the idea of using google voice as my primary phone number, especially because of the extremely weak signal I have at home. I've seen a few apps on the market that let you use google voice over wifi (grooveip, spare phone, sipdroid) and was wondering what experiences people have had with these apps, and which they recommend.
Thanks,
Ratkid
I used talkatone. It worked well using the free wifi in the hotel in Maui to Vancouver. Being Canadian we couldn't get a number so all calls were outgoing only.

So i bit the bullet and purchased / tried the ones I originally mentioned. Here is what I found:
Sipdroid: very complicated to set up. After an hour or two of trying to get it to work, no dice. This was verified by the reviews of the app.
grooveip: when it works, its ok, the problem is it crashed more often than working (may be specific to my setup). It was, however, less power hungry than spare phone, only sipping about 0.5% to 1% more per hour idle. Also, when it works, it used less than half as much power (over wifi) as a normal phone call (i was able to sustain a 1 hour call and it used up only about 5% of my battery).
spare phone: it works better, with less delay than groove ip. I have yet to have it crash on me. The biggest draw back is it's more power hungry. It seems to eat up about 2.5% more battery during idle than not having it. Overall, since i'm almost always by some power adapter, I think i'm going to go with this one. Also tried it over 3g with 3 out of 5 bars. Still sounded pretty good on my end, another +.
I'm not sure how many people are looking for apps like this, but if you are, hopefully my post helps.
i've been using groove ip on sky-jb rom and it works without issues. i flashed cvd nibbles and now groove ip crashes all the time. i don't know what the issue can be.
Hi All,
I seem to be losing data connectivity when on my Microcell at home.
Normally this wouldn't be an issue because I'd just hop on the Wi-Fi - but this leaves me unable to receive MMS messages.
Please see attached logcat for details. Note the issues that start happening at: 04-15 07:05:39.638
Nobody?
Is there another forum or category this should be placed into?
Your not the only one that has connectivity issues. There is a post here in the q and a for gsm settings if that what microcell uses u can give it a shot

I just searched the terms "apn" and "microcell"
Nothing of use came up.
Which device Q&A was it listed under?

hello,
i was in ur boat for the last couple of months troubleshooting all types of reasoning why my mms and visual voicemail, would not go out thru the MCell. To make a long , long, story short, i swapped out my DPH153 ( the upside down "Y" white microcell) to the newer DPH154 ( Shorter, Black, and no PC port ). Being i have had the previous MCell for a couple of years, i had no warranty. Although, i disagreed that if AT&T made some change to the MCell on the backend or wherever, and screwed MMS, why should i have to pay anyway. After talking to enough reps that kept telling me i need to go buy a new one, ( make sure u have at least an hour of spare time before u get on the phone )they eventually sent me over to the Retention department. i have 6 lines on my account, so i guess i was worth saving. Retention was super nice, didnt even care what my reasoning was for the new MCell, just wanted me to be a happy customer, which after being on hold for so long, i greatly appreciated. the deal was for me to go purchase one at an AT&T store, and once activated, to call back , and they would credit my account. it was a little incovienient, but worth saving the $150.00. i went and got it, activated it, which took minutes, i was suprised at that, called back in, was on hold for another 30 minutes, finally credited my account the $150.00. Happy Customer.
Now, the real question.... did it work ?
yes.
yes, it did. The first thing i noticed when my old one wasnt working is that the data speeds were extremely S-L-O-W. i have 6 phones here, all different, so i knew it wasnt a phone issue, or a software problem, not on all 6. Smartphones are getting better n better cameras, the file sizes are getting bigger n bigger, even when it compresses. the compression is smaller, but its still a growing file size. Regardless, when i was in range of old MCell, i turned off wifi, and ran a speedtest. i mean it claims 3G, lets see. so minimum with full bars, id say about 1.3mb is acceptable. my speed was around .3mb , no 1 in front. Now normally, i would have never noticed this, cuz at home, most use wifi which is blazing, and it doesnt eat ur data. it then made sense why pics wouldnt send, im trying to send this huge file through this tiny hole, and it would just fail, bottom line. Ran a speedtest on new MCell, 3.40Mbps. very acceptable. sent multiple pics, no issues. Appears a little slower, about 10 seconds or so for sending to complete, only because of the data. When im out in the wild, and have LTE, pics send in seconds, but of course, its 54Mbps or more. i just realized my short story got kinda long, sorry. Hope that helps you.
Normally I wouldn't post this sort of thing, but over the last few months (maybe years) this issue continues to persist. It has occurred on not only my S6, but also my Optimus G before I upgraded.
The issue appears, as is visible in the image below, in the form of a network drop. This drop occurs on both 3G or 4G networks for up to a minute sometimes, every few hours or some days not at all. The phone doesnt show a drop (the little 4G icon stays visible), but nothing on the phone web browser is available. The device is rooted and I very often have my hotspot active and a device or two connected, hence the dos window screenshot.
The issue occurs irrespective of location; before I moved last May it happened at my last place, a good 40 minute drive away. I have recently been pulling my hair out one by one as these network disruptions have become insanely annoying. The conspiracy theorist in me wonders if maybe Sprint is pissed at the 150-250GB+ data usage monthly and is seeking to punish me, though if they really didnt like it, they'd just drop my contract. I have not noticed throttling; once the network is back the 4G returns with good speed.
Ive searched high and low for months, called sprint numerous times, dug through every google search page I can think of, looked here on xda, and have **** to show for it. Has anyone else seen these issues or heard of something like it? Im running out of brain for this issue...
Cheers,
