[Guide] Activate VoWifi and VoLTE - Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello together,
In the Poco F1 Threads is a Guide to activate VoWifi and VoLTE. I tried it for my Mi Mix 2s and it's working (tried it for T-Mobile Germany). It also survives flashing ROMs.
Try at your own risk. I am not responsible for bricked devices.
der_Kief said:
First of all a BIG thanks to edgonzo over at android-hubo[dot]de
He made this possible
This is the instruction to activate VoWiFi / WLAN Call on the Poco F1
Its tested and verfied to work with EU ROM (Oreo & Pie based) and german provider o2 (Telefonica)
Before you read on i want to make clear that I am not responsible for bricked devices !
Basic requirements are root rights to do this mod
Maybe latest 2017 Qualcomm Diag QD-Loader Windows 10 Drivers signed are needed for this to work.
!!! Before doing this Mod you should backup EFS-partition !!!
- download QPST tool and install
- enable USB debugging in Developer settings
- now either go to terminal app and type:
or
adb from PC
- connect Poco F1 with original USB cable to PC
- start PDC (from QPST tool) on PC
- Poco F1 should be recognized by PDC (if not install Qualcomm driver and check Device Manager)
- activate corresponding profile (in case of german o2 its DT_Greece)
- install VoLTE & VoWiFi Enabler Magisk module (optional) or activate setting with dialer code *#*#869434#*#*
- restart Poco F1
- Voila

Hi! Thanks for the tip. I tried it with 3 UK but had no luck. Adding to the proximity sensor not working, these are the only two gripes I have with this phone. Otherwise it's just perfect...

I just noticed it only worked with Custom Kernel
I use Xiaomi.eu Rom with MiPa 8.2 Kernel.
With stock Kernel IMS Services under *#*#INFO#*#* didn't register
The Screenshot is with MiPa Kernel

Ah! That would explain it! Does the Xiaomi.eu rom install the MiPa with it or did you install both?
Cheers

You have to install both separate

Tried with P3R and MiPa but no go. Read somewhere it only works with Android P based roms so I'll give that a try...

Tried with Xiaomi.eu Android Q Rom with Stock Kernel. And it's working.

I have tried installing Magisk Beta: v15.3 (code: 1531) both ways and it fails with a boot loop
Bug report here
Hi, thanks for your great work. I am asked for a password to decrypt data upon entering twrp. Any workaround to avoid restoring-formatting?

I tryed to install magisk too and also ended up with a bootloop, so it don`t seems it does not work on the K6 ,or maybe we made a procedure error????
maybe it would be helpfull to make a tutorial how to flash and install Magisk ( if it really works)??

For those trying to get Magisk to work on the K6 the latest Magisk doesn't work, However Magisk 14 works perfectly so get Magisk 14 it took me a while to figure it out so I tried 14 and it worked!

I followed magisk install precisely and even cooked my boot.img with superr's kitchen so I'm pretty sure I have found a bug with magisk, which by the way is the beta version 15.3(1531) here . My findings so far require me to dig deeper and send in some logs from a twrp install attempt to the magisk dev.

Common issue on latest Mediatek devices, the Magisk team should add a compatibility mode for those.

I guess the device isn't able to read your sim card properly then.
Just to double check, tell us the steps you are doing to save the APN.

Nope, you can't. LTE Bands are hardcoded on ALL devices and can't be modified.
MT6763 supports lte band 5 and band 40 , band 41, but firware doesn't allow it why?? False info given on official site that it suppports volte, it doesnt my previous leeco le 2 used to support volte for my sim, this one wont, it only supports data.....and most of the time switches off automatically in idle mode(when not using) every time i have to start again, but if screen is on it wont get switch off automatically, really this is weird phone...any solution??

The chipset doesn't matter, the manufacturer provides a list of the supported bands, picture attached below. You must have checked it before.

As regards VoLTE, even though it supports it, it doesn't necessarily mean that your carrier accepts it on its network.
Ok but what may be the cause for auto switch off....if v get custom rom will v get other band support??
Thank you very much for your interest,
On my OIKITEL K6,
after inserting SIM card in slot 1,
I did it like this.
1.setting
2. more
3.mobile network
4.APNs
5. + (new APN)
6.editing : Name
7.editing : APN
8.editing : MMSC
9.editing : MMS port
10.editing : MCC
11.editing : MNC
12. tap 3 dots at top right
13. tap SAVE
and there's only one list of EMERGENCY CALL, and no list what I just saved.
So, I changed another SIM card which is working on another android smart phone, and it happens same situation.
And when the SIM card is moved into other (originally used) phone, it works well.
Two SIMs are same.
My SIM card also works well at my former android phone at now.
Please give me some more TIPs...
Thank you.

[ROM][non-GSI] Unofficial ArrowOS 9.x

Here is Unofficial ArrowOS 9.x:good:
Download ROM
Changelog is too big for xda, so it's included in download folder.
If you are using Global /China Stable or third party rom (Xiaomi.eu), please download China Developer from here (search for "小米MIX3最新 开发版 线刷Fastboot完整包点击下载") and flash it, then flash PE system.img.
It seems current stable rom has some bugs in vendor or firmware (e.g. Google Camera is laggy).
Working:
Camera (including 4K video)
Wi-Fi
Bluetooth (audio, in-call audio)
GPS
NFC
Dual SIM, Dual 4G standby
VoLTE
Fingerprint
USB PD
Wireless Charge
Sensors including proximity
AOD
Not working:
Slider (actually it's working, but no app to handle)
OK Google detection in any screen
Bluetooth call for some users/devices
Android Auto (display flickering)
Mobile data on some carrier
Google Pay should work if you use MagiskHide, but I can't test since my country (Japan) uses hardware level security (exclusive for Japanese models) for payment via Google Pay.
Installation:
1. Flash the latest *Official* China Developer ROM (xiaomi.eu rom is not supported)
(If you are using other roms before, please wipe data)
2. Download and flash ZIP in TWRP
3. Flash Magisk v17.3
4. Reboot and profit!
FAQ:
Q. Google Assistant doesn't open when I push AI key
A. Please set Google Assistant as assistant app in settings -> Apps & Notifications
Q. Phone app is not working
A. Please set Phone as phone app in settings -> Apps & Notifications

[A7 2018 / GSI] Common Issues!

Hi, i've just installed HavocOS 3.5 GSI on my A7 2018 aka A750FN , EVERYTHING WORKS except for:
- Bluetooth in-call audio
(bluetooth works just for music and system audio but not for calls)
- Fingerprint Gestures
(fingerpring scanner works for unlocking but gestures don't)
- No face unlock
(absent in security section)
Steps i used to flash the GSI:
1) Flashing Samsung's Stock firmware(Pie - so i have aonly)
2) Flashing TWRP
3) Format data(so i can mount it)
4) Wipe Dalvik/Cache/Data/System
5) Flash Quantum Stock v4 through TWRP
6) Boot it for the first time
7) Execute a factory reset through TWRP
8) Flash Quantum_Kernel_GSI_v3 through TWRP
9) Flash GSI and Magisk
I've tried both LineageOS v17.1 and HavocOS v3.4(3.5
What can i do to fix these issues?
Thanks!

Yes, i will make an updated guide showing how to install this GSI with updated Kernel.
Then YES, it's perfect for daily usage, OBVIOUSLY it depends on which GSI you choose and on which kernel you're on!
ATM you can choose between Quantum_Kernel_GSI_v3 and Quantum_quack_v1
to me, the first one goes fine but the second one is mean to be better...

Does not work even on Mediatek (Realme 7 5 G, Mediatek Dimensity 800, Android 10)
It works on poco x3 noroot and no unlocked bootloader

How To Install Magisk On Poco X3 NFC ?

I've unlocked bootloaders, installed Magisk and installed plenty of custom ROMs on different phones,
but this Poco X3 NFC has been just a bit 'annoying' from the beginning (ie. I had to try many different ways * before ability to 'register' for unlocking the bootloader, and then had to wait 7-days to actually do that )
Now, I just want to know how to get Magisk working ?
Currently I'm on MiUI ROM (but I will install AICP or CrDroid, in a few days),
and trying to install Magisk on this now.
I've got TWRP installed but Magisk doesn't have flashable .ZIPs,
because Magisk has moved to the .APK manager now.
So, in Magisk Manager, it asks me to patch a file, but which file would this be ?
How to get Magisk v23 installed on this Android 11-based MiUI ROM ?
Thanks.

I had to:
- register a Xiaomi account (this must be logged on the phone)
- put in a SIM card, with data activated (this must be enabled, to get the Xiaomi account working)
- send a SMS, to verify the number (Xiaomi checks/logs/records multiple levels of my identity)
- download a Xiaomi tool to unlock the bootloader (Xiaomi's tool did not work & I had to find one, from Github (and XDA) )
I have unlocked bootloaders on Samsung, Motorola, Oneplus, Asus … and Xiaomi is the most annoying, intrusive and cumbersome unlocking.

You just have to rename magisk.apk to magisk.zip and flash it via TWRP without wiping cache
Moreover, latest TWRP build from brigudav can do it for you -- look at "Advanced" options...

Very good.
Yes, thank you.
I tried this and it was easy,
ie. to go into TWRP (by Brigudav) --> Advanced Options --> Install Magisk
Simple and effective.
My next issue then, was finding out,
that in TWRP, if I wanted to install TWRP.img (in phone's storage) ,
all files/folders in SDCARD were "encrypted" but I don't have lockscreen or PIN pattern turned on.
What causes this 'encryption' ?
Same here, it's the default on recent Android systems, it seems -- and can also be checked by entering the following in a terminal:
$ getprop | grep encrypt
You need to reset to factory setings in TWRP after removing any types of pin, or pattern lock.
