Honor 8 - how to root?

Did anyone try to root Honor 8 ?
Did anyone unlock the bootloader?
Yes, my Honor 8 is rooted & has xposed installed.
I used the method to obtain the OEM Unlock code for fastboot from huawei using a facebook login which has been stated here a few times.
Afterwards i flashed a TWRP image and installed systemless SuperSU & xposed v86

Really? You used Honor's unlock tool for the 5X and it worked for the 8? I didn't know that was working.
Can you provide more info?
https://www.emui.com/en/plugin.php?id=unlock&mod=detail is the page i used, logged in with a (freshly created, i don't use facebook) facebook account, and entered informations about the phone.
A few seconds later I had the unlock code.
Full guide to use that page is e.g. here: http://www.modaco.com/forums/topic/...your-honor-8-official-and-unofficial-methods/
A complete guide on rooting and installing TWRP on the Honor 8,can be found here:

Yes, that's more or less generic for phones that use the fastboot concept
So honor 8 has the same fastboot mode, right? Thats a relief, because i have a yuphoria right now and jumping on to an honor 8 willbe easy for me then

Any way to Root Honor 6x with Tools (Kingoroot/Oneclickroot, etc)

I don't want to Loose data, is there any way to root my honor with one click tools?
I'd be surprised if SuperSU (2.79 or earlier) or Magisk 12 didn't work - while the Kirin655 octo-core SoC powering the 6x is not Exnyos or Qualcomm, it's not Mediatek, either. Failing that, you can always install a ROM that includes self-rooting (Lineage 13, for example). While you need a third-party recovery, TWRP is available.
Dont use kingroot. Just use the TWRP way of rooting your device its much safer that way
I think it is quite difficult for EMUI 4.0 Android MM to root without unlocking bootloader...
Actually backup your data, unlock bootloader and flash TWRP may be a safer way to do it...

It's THE only safest way. Other rooting methods take advantage of exploits which may be hard to remove.

I haven't found any video tutorials online about rooting the honor 6x, but the way I did it was:
1. Download SuperSU 2.82.
2. Find where the zip file is located on your device.
3. Go into custom recovery by first SHUTTING OFF your device, then holding the power and up button until the screen turns on.
4. Flashing the zip file.
Hope this helps!

Treble TWRP for Honor 8?

I updated my Honor 8 to Oreo, but the current TWRP (https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/development/twrp-t3566563) doesn't flash Magisk.zip properly, and the offical TWRP on (https://dl.twrp.me/frd/twrp-3.2.2-0-frd.img.html) doesn't seem to boot at all.
Have anybody of you made it to flash Magisk with the Oreo version?
Will there be a Treble TWRP for Honor 8??
I've also tried with Huawei P10 Lite TWRP (https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10-lite/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-1-0-oreo-t3777582) and still getting error while flashing Magisk.
Side note : I use Honor 8 L09C432 (Europe), but I rebranded it to L09C10 (Russia) as I couldn't stand to wait for the European version to release

People Said That This Twrp Works For Honor 8 Oreo Even If Its For Honor View 10, Try It:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/forum....velopment/recovery-twrp-3-2-1-0-t3769917/amp/
hi any feedback about twrp for honor 10 view?
Thx
Tried it. Asking for password, the one I use to unlock the screen doesn't work.
TWRP is not recommended to use for treble on kirin devices. Well.. you can try it but there is not that much support like from using fastboot comands on stock recovery
you can download Magisk.apk and then follow these instructions : https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-install-magisk-mate-9-running-t3773878
Try to do it with patience, dont be worried if it fails
This method is running on all oreo based treble roms and even kirin-GSI android P. I've tested the method on my FRD-ALL00, but it will work on any FRD as i know
PM me if anyone needs some additional help

EMUI 9.0 and Magisk

Hi, i'm searching everywhere but i can't find a sure answer. Magisk works on EMUI 9.0? I'm always used a patched twrp of Pretoriano and flashed Magisk with this recovery without problem. Is it possible in EMUI 9? Thanks
I can't imagine that rooting is possible, cause EMUI 9 has no ramdisk.img to produce a patched boot image. But there are threads around, that deal with TWRP, Magisk & EMUI9.
With this method I root my honor 10 view under emui 9 ( 9.0.0.162 C432 ) with my own patch.
Here for v10.
