Surfing the Web, it popped up for a second, then retreated...
Device compromised?
Did it happen anywhere else, or just one site?
Kind of a nice extra security feature with the camera having to pop up. Hadn't thought of that.
Do you use Firefox? It's a known issue with Firefox
It happened to me also, on different sites (but not shady) on Chrome, a couple of times. I thought it could be that classic pop-up notif. that you get on the desktop sites that ask you to allow access to mic and camera and as such, when invoked on a mobile device, I assumed that was the expected behavior - to raise the camera - and automatically "shuts it down" and retracts almost instantly. Given the mechanism of the selfie camera, we notice this as the camera raises. But on a classic phone where the front camera is always displayed, I thought that the user is not aware of this (even thought the pop-up is not displayed or auto-closed).
Again, just a thought.

Can you specify which website was that, I want to test that??
It is because the website uses extensive methods to fingerprint the device, also known as tracking. In Firefox you just enable Tracking Protection to not not only work in Private windows but also normal browsering.

Agreed! Yikes, though, why is the www taping into people's camera like this!?

Thanks. Did this and disabled permission access to camera in Firefox (apps/settings)
Same thing happened to me with Firefox, I just turned off camera permission for Firefox.
Would have never guessed Firefox was the culprit! Cheers

Anyone used the TecTiles yet? I picked up a pack of them and programmed my first one. My problem is that whenever I use the tile, it still prompts me to open the browser. It does all of the setting changes that I programmed in, but does the pop up. It's quite annoying. Anyone else have this problem or is it something you know is just how it works.

Thanks. I'll try that.
The open in browser prompt is to prevent malicious access to your device. The browser has security flaws while working with NFC.

I see what it's saying and tend to agree with a lot of the comments on that article that it's a lot of hand waving. While there's a threat, it'd still involve the human factor to allow the threat to propogate. Granted there's probably 329,000,000 people in the US who would fall for that, I'm not going to.
The Task Launcher worked like a champ and I actually like how it programs better than the Samsung App.
I use Fox2phone quite a bit for easily sending links to my phone from the comp.
But off late i've been facing some issues where the links sent are a hit or miss..
need to restart the phone every now & then to get the links sent.
just wondering if there are any alternatives out there which does a similar function or perhaps even more?
thanks
Ya, PushBullet and it is awesome!!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pushbullet.android
In my opinion it trumps Chrome2Phone times 10.
Can push files/links/etc from browser to phone and vice-versa. Oh and you can also get notifications of pretty much anything (texts, email) on your Chrome Browser on your PC which is handy.
+1 Pushbullet
Wow. Great and useful app. Lists, maps, links, notes and even files. Super easy and mirroring of your phone's notifications in the reverse direction to your browser!

@bekyndnunwind
have you had any instances when this did NOT work?
shows as pushed from Firefox, but link doesn't appear in the phone..
if i open push bullet & view pushes, it shows the links there, but it doesn't appear in the phone
i can't even replicate this..
if i restart the phone & push something, i get it..
does this require sync to be enabled or something?
In Chrome at least, it works so fast, as in less than a second. I'm almost wondering now if it's not gulping juice in the background.

I've never had a problem where it doesn't pop up instantly, but I do use Chrome not that it would have anything to do with it. Maybe it does require sync?? Not too sure about that. So if you restart the phone it starts working but then it stops working after a while? Very confused, as I've never had a single issue with it. You should try going to the PushBullet website and contacting them, they may be able to help you.

i actually did get in touch with them..
i pressed send & even before i could blink i had a reply from a rep called Ryan.
He explained that since they use Google's Cloud service, if there is any delay at their end it may not deliver to us.
he did not mention anything about sync being on or off..
i also queried him about using different instances for each installation under 'devices', cos i use firefox at home & at office and both show up just as Firefox.
you can't really differentiate between them & can't be renamed either.
he said the team is working on a platform based segmentation (macs, PCs etc) & that should be coming soon

Doesnt chrome sync only mirror tabs/history/favorites of pages you are viewing or have viewed in chrome? With pushbullet you can create notes or lists that you can send to anything that has pushbullet installed. You can also directly push a file (max 25MB) from one device directly to another. I find it incredibly useful and use it on a daily basis.
And for those asking above, if you want to get the notifications instantly, you *DO* need Sync active on your mobile device. If you dont, just open pushbullet and manually update the list and it should appear. The amount of time it takes to reach your phone still relies on your network speed obviously, but it's normally pushing such a small amount of data that it's almost instantaneous.

And in the settings of Chrome for Android there's an option that enables you to use that system (settings and then tap your gmail address)
I'm using Pushover, as I use it with other apps as well as from Chrome (Sickbeard/Couchpotato).
Hi, Note 5 and S6 EDGE+ both have a problem. It defaults a program to the first app you select. I used to be able to click a number and android would as me to choose my VIOP or RC "just once" Now every things is set to "always"There used to be an option to only use it once. Is there any way I can fix this without rooting?
I would also like to know this too

It's weird for sure. Seems like only sharing from certain apps like the gallery and Internet browsers give this option. But this app helped: app picker classic. It's in the play store. It's not ideal but it's working for me. If you share and choose this app the first time it will add all your other options for each consecutive time.

I am working with the developer "better open with". He said there is a bug.
I don't think this is a bug but it's the way the new touch wiz was made.
I'm also wondering why they've removed this feature. And is there any way around it without root?

I swear I love Samsung but they do some of the dumbest sh!t. LG also removed that feature from some of their devices. What the heck are these manufacturers thinking? What on God's green earth makes them think that you want to handle one type of file the same way everytime? Sometimes I want to open a link with one browser and open another link with another browser because maybe that specific browser works better with that particular websites. I love the just once. Constant clearing defaults is fuking worst than selecting between just one and always.

I still has not found a decent fix. All the app pickers out there only show some apps but not all. The only app close is Better Open with. We can't even root now because we loose samsung pay. I am not an apple fan but I love that 3d feature. It is like a right click on a mouse.

I have this same problem on my S5 mini. PLEASE tell me there is a solution by now? This is the stupidest thing I have ever seen. So I send something once to Opera mini because I need to save on data usage and now I am forever stuck with websites opening in Opera Mini and looking like terrible. On Kitkat I NEVER used to select "always" on anything, for choice and security reasons.. Now I cannot.

I have this but it is only for things programmed into the app. I cannot scan an NFC thing and it always come up do I want to use "Tag" or "NFC Reader" or "xyz". Because the app does not know about this "type". It's good to protect and provide choice for websites and images and things but it is not perfect. Why would samsung/google mess this up? Not only is it stupidly inconvenient but it is less secure because now something like a website or any other thing just goes on it's merry way automatically opening and executing with an app all the time, instead of the usual thing where I have the choice to press always, just this once or oh yeah just press the back button to cancel the attempt from the start.
I am not happy with the loss of this functionality.
Sent from my SM-N920P using XDA-Developers mobile app
One of the workarounds I found for sharing or opening links with different apps was to select "Copy to Clipboard" option when you select the default app for the first time after clearing your old defaults and then go to your target app and paste from clipboard. It's definitely not as straightforward as selecting "Always" vs "One time only" but still better than clearing out defaults after every use for me.
This is actually incredibly annoying. Sometimes I open Youtube videos in Youtube, sometimes I open them in my VLC Remote Control, sometimes I open them in Flyperlink....how this functionality went away is beyond me....frigging Samsung.
Better Open With will have to do for now, thanks for the link.
Has anyone tried gaming in Dex mode, is it smooth or is there a problem with latency? I want to play ark with my friend, she is poor and can't afford a PC ? I have Ark on Steam which is no use in this case.
I can't deal with 1st/3rd person games on a touch screen, it's a horrible experience, no matter how good they make touch controls, they'll always be awful in those games.
I've tried bluestacks on my PC but ark doesn't run, despite bluestacks plastering it all over their website. According to some Reddit posts it appears they're just liars ?
So gaming on Dex mode....does it work? I've tried every method of casting my phone screen on pc through remote desktops and with usb including with ADB and it's all garbage, the latency makes it unusable.
If the Dex cable or dock works well for gaming on a big screen then I'll buy one, so I'd also like some recommendations for good, 3rd party stations, with usb ports for mouse and keyboard.
I don't know. But one of these I will have a Nintendo or super Nintendo itch that needs to be scratched and I hope it works great. I 2as surprised that their no noticeable latency with a Logitech M570 trackball.
Terrible picture I know, but can anyone tell me what these 3 top icons on the left should be?

Is anyone else having issues with websites when using QHD+? It's been driving me crazy that browsing was nigh on impossible. Changed it down to FHD+ and everything seems a lot better. Same in Edge, Chrome and Brave so I assume some Chromium bug. Ad blocking on/off doesn't seem to matter.
Example of site that just goes blank when I scroll: https://uk.mous.co/products/limitle...ack-leather-phone-case?variant=40847410331705
Edit: Whoops, apparently I forgot that I already had 1080p selected and confirm the same behavior at 1440p.
