How do I update Google Play Services manually?

Hi
Google Play Services suddenly started to drain my battery. 100->87%, 18 minutes SOT 2 hours standby.
I found out, that I have an outdated version of Google Play Services and I have tried Google, but can't seem to find a way to manually update it and since it don't update itself, how do I update it?
Thanks in advance
Download it from APKMirror and install using your favourite file manager

Thanks. APKMirror is a legit site? I just find it weird Google Play Services suddenly wants to get access to route my call and text messages. (New permissions from the app from APKMirror).
Download it directly from Google Play if you are concerned. I just did it this morning myself from Google Play using this process and got version 7.8.93.

APKMirror is run by Android Police, and is very much legit
I also read about a trick over on Reddit to get your phone to update Google Play Services itself. Simply load Google's Android Wear app then launching it and trying to set up will initiate the Google Play Services update since Android Wear needs version 7.8.93. Even though I downloaded it from the pay store using APK Downloader, I tried this and was able to get the phone to self update to the latest update to 7.8.95 now. Interesting trick.

Next time disable any apps you are thinking of removing before you remove them so you can see if it causes issues, if it does you can just renable the app and be back to normal, if it doesn't cause issues then you would be safe to remove the app without issue, but this generally isn't the case with Google apps, messing with those will make the other Google apps fail to start or force close.
Find the versions of the removed apps that are compatible with your device and downloag them on PC then if the device responds to adb you can push the apks to the device and get then reinstalled.
If that doesn't work then download your stock firmware and flash the stock on your device to restore it.

Google Play Store not Downloading Apps

Hello,
My dad bought himself a Mate 9 Pro in China and brought it back home today. I've installed the GMS from the HiApp app store and downloaded the Google Play store from there as well.
When I try to download apps from the Play store, the apps won't download. It continues to say "downloading" but no progress is being made.
I am downloading apks in the interim, but would be much more convenient if I could take advantage of the Play Store.
Am i doing something wrong? The build number is b156, if I'm reading it correctly.
I've tried:
- Deleting cache and data from Google Play Store
- Reinstalling GMS
- Allowing unknown sources for app downloads (i.e. from places other than HiApp) and app installations.
- Granting all permissions to Play Store and Play Services
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Check the permissions in the app settings, make sure Play store has access to internal storage. I just allowed all permissions for the play store and any google related services.
Do not try anything else. I have tried all kinds of solutions including the ones you listed above. Just be patient and wait for system update to solve the problem and download some 3rd party store like apkpure as a temporary solution

I forgot to mention that, but yes, I did grant all permissions to play store and Google Play services, but I'm still having issues. Thanks for the response !

Yeah, I may just do that for now. My dad doesn't use that many apps anyway so I can probably just download the rest of the apks he needs and install them manually as well. Thanks!

System partition size

Is the size of my system partition correct? I can't flash GApps or anything else with this small free space.
It is normal. I have only 16 MB remaining...

But the problem is, EMUI 8.0 comes with AppGallery instead of HiApp which doesn't contain the Google Play Store. So, when I had upgraded to Oreo, I wanted to flash OpenGapps and I encountered two errors:
1. I couldn't get the twrp working (the one that came from Huawei Multi Tool bricked my device)
2. Even If I could get twrp and flashed OpenGapps, it would show me insufficient storage error.

Strange. When I upgraded to Oreo I was able to easily download Google Play Store and get it working.

Ikr. The AppGallery on my phone contained absolutely no Google apps except Youtube. And, even if it had Play Store, installing it from AppGallery would install it as a normal app, not a system app. Wouldn't that cause problems?
I noticed that Play Store,Gmail,Youtube doesn't do works in background For example, when I choose to update all the apps of Play Store and my phone goes to sleep the updates stop running in the background. Gmail only shows me notifications of new e-mail when I actually open the app itself. Could these be because the apps are not system apps?

Installing as non-system app won't cause any problems with Play Store. There's a reason Huawei served it through its App Store to ensure it is installed correctly. The rest of Google Services are already included in EMUI 8.
About your apps getting killed in background, that's obviously because they are non-system apps. That's how Huawei power management works. But you have the option to set apps to not close even if your screen is locked. The option is in Settings so find it

What if I were to make them system app (App Systemizer module from Magisk) instead of changing that settings?

Yes I have same situation here in Brazil. After update there is no longer google playstore available, location is totally bug and even downloading from other source the app does not run. I will check on Mi Community as well and let you know if I figure out anything over there.
As far as I know, in fact, your Google Play Store app has just been hiden. Download the latest Play Store apk, v23.2.11-21 or V21.2.12-21, and then install it on your device. You will find the Play Store icon appears on the home screen now.
You can get that apk from the well-known apkmirror or apkpure website.

Thank you for your prompt reply and information. However both versions and also the latest offered by the websites did not work. I really do not know what to do
After some research, I found the Google Play Store app had been renamed 'Google Play Services Updater' in 'Settings - Apps list'. In addition, the launch icon disappeared from home screens.
But it will recover when you install the later edition of Google Play Store.
If you need, I will send you the cloud storage link to the Google Play Store apk, v23.2.11-21 or V21.2.12-21. I think it will work.
Thank you! Now it is working!
