Sidebar/Hamburger menu - Easy access - Google Pixel 4 XL Guides, News, & Discussion

Android 10's back gesture messes with sidebar present in the apps.
Although you can peek and slide or swipe diagonally to bring in side bar, I have found a new easy way.
Swipe vertically on left side of your screen ,then do a horizontal swipe to bring in side bar.(sry for bad English)
In other words, draw the letter L

Please reply guys , I would like to hear from you

This only works if ya gesture level is 2, maybe 3 sometime
Doesn't work on level 4.
But great fine, it was annoying when I couldn't use the side bar on Sync Reddit app sometimes to subscribe.

Awesome tip. I have been doing it diagonally and trying the whole peek and slide but it is always a hit and miss. This works perfect.

If you go into gestures in settings and click navigation button, click on the settings icon for the gesture option and it gives you different levels of how sensitive the gestures are.

You can also bring out the hamburger menu if you touch anywhere on the screen and than you swipe left to right from the side like you used to do it.

Of course u can't. Or show how u do this?

Just touch anywhere with your right thumb. And while doing so swipe left to right with your left thumb like you used to swipe for the hamburger menu.

[APP] [2.3+] Gestos (Gestures)

Speed and fluency as performing actions on our devices, play an
important role. Gestures is born of those needs providing the users the
facility to access to different functions by drawing a simple gesture on the
screen.
Gestures has its own lock screen, which is optional. This provides a huge
speed performing any action, with no need to unlock the device.
Gestures allows us to:
- Call a contact.
- Run an application.
- Enable / Disable: Wifi, Bluetooth, Sound, GPS, Airplane Mode
- Access to a Website.
- Run system options.
- Lock / Unlock Device
- Access multimedia functions: Camera, Gallery
As far as configuration is concerned, Gestures can:
- Be activated by double touch on the home screen.
- Lock screen gestures sensitive alternative.
- Permanent Notification toggling the floating button (overlay)
- Adjust the sensitivity.
- Position the floating button
The steps are three:
1. Locate the desired option from the menu and access it.
2. Press the option and draw a gesture. (Once saved it appears in
your list).
3. Access to the gestures processor by the overlay, the double
touch option on the screen (home) or the lock screen, drawing the
gesture right there.

Interesting.. I'll try this soon.

Wow. I'm impressed. I configured a couple gestures and they worked flawlessly.
I am using my tablet and the activation in the corner works great.
On my phone I feel this will be more difficult. Is it possible to create it as an action so that I can use another app to launch the gesture area?

The wiget is fully functional, at least for mobile. And think that covers your needs.
And if not, sorry. but the only way to launch Gestures at the moment are: double touch on home screen, the widget and the floating button.

Could you make launching gestures an activity in the main application? Or can you make the application create a second shortcut to launch it rather than use the widget?
I know it's possible, I just don't know how.
I would really like to use GMD to activate this app, once I can do that I can use this all the time.

Ok, i understand you. At this time it is not possible because the application needs a small initialization between activities. But what I have in mind and can be a feature.
If you have any other suggestions ...
If you want to support the project dont forget to rate Gestos and give us some feedback .
Great app! It works perfectly, and I especially like the lockscreen gestures (which I've been badly missing ever since I upgraded from CyanogenMod 7 to CM10.1). :good:
Feature requests:
It would be nice to have some configuration options for the custom lockscreen. (I don't really like the clock, for example; is there a way to disable that?)
Even better, it would be awesome if you could add a lockscreen widget for Android 4.2+, so we can use gestures on the stock lockscreen! Please? Pretty please?
A paid add-free version would be nice too. I'd happily pay for the app, especially if it had better lockscreen options!

[Q] disable app list button

Is it possible to disable the collection of opened apps and web pages that comes up when you hit the square at the bottom right hand of the screen. It's really irritating to go through having to delete 20 or so screens. If I want an app, I can click the icon and open it. Arghhh!
My apologies if someone just point me to a link. I've looked and haven't been able to find anything.

I am not aware of a way to disable it.
FYI, it's called "recent apps", or just "recents".

By web pages, are you referring to tabs from chrome browser? If so, there is a option in chrome to disable showing open tabs in the recents screen
Please let me know If that didn't answer your question
Thanks but I'm not using chrome. It's really very insecure. You can be checking your bank account for example and if you leave your phone available someone can pick up all sorts of info about you by just looking at the web page (in my case dolphin) or apps you've had open. I know it was meant as a convenience, but it would be nice to be able to shut it off.

That's exactly what I want. I want to be able to turn off recents or overview or whatever it is called so that when I touch the square button nothing happens
If it's not possible currently I hope someone from the Android development team is listening and gives it some thought.

It's been in Android for a long time, and it's going to stay. It's a core part of the Android workflow. Removing the functionality is near-impossible, but one could make the button do nothing or set it's visibility to gone.
I recommend you just maybe log out or close anything you deem important enough to be a reason for wanting to disable this functionality. It's just a swipe away. Otherwise, you might as well leave it open as the foreground task and complain that it doesn't close it every time you turn on the screen while you're at it.
Thanks. Just have to live with it I guess.

Reachability from iOS?

Hi guys, is it possible to bring the reachability feature from iOS to the s8 plus?. I don't like the one handed mode in comparison.
Reachability is a software option that lets users temporarily move the iPhone user interface down towards the bottom of the screen, so that those with smaller hands or those using the phone single-handed can more easily reach the desired UI element

Tap the switch next to One-handed mode.
Tap an enable option. Pick the one that works best for you, then give it a try — the function works on the home screen and in any app.
A swipe in from one of the bottom corners: The screen will shrink to the side you swiped from.
Three presses of the home button: The screen will shrink to the side you last used in one-handed mode.

Hiding Nav Buttons without root.

Short of it is that my phone came from GS with OEM unlock locked. I want to love this phone but hate lack of viewable screen. I read that Nova Launcher can hide the Nav Buttons but I have 5.4.1 and cannot see where to turn on the function.
Thanks in advance.
