Hi,
My OPO has been working flawlessly for 4 years now and is running the latest LineageOS officially available.
But since a few weeks (maybe a month) it freezes from time to time.
When it happen apps (ANY apps) starts to slow down then crashes and the phone freeze completely (screen is black and backlight is ON).
To recover I must hard reboot (press power 10 seconds).
I tried to reinstall a clean LineageOS (wiping everything even internal storage) but nothing changed.
Does anyone had the same issue? A solution? A way to diagnose this?
I'd just give another ROM a go, preferably AOSP based or older LOS, to rule out hardware cause. Still freezing? It's hardware. Running fine? Something went wrong in LOS builds.

After installing Lollipop, everything became unbearably slow. I've tried flashing multiple ROMs, both Lollipop and Kitkat, but everything remains so slow: the actual boot-up process and the ROM itself. Does anybody have any ideas about what can be done about this? In fastboot I see hammerhead D820(H) 32GB; HW version rev_11; Bootloader version HHZ12d, Baseband M8974A-2.0.50.2.22. Lock state is unlocked. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated!
Wipe cache and see if that helps and disable Chrome's integration into the app switcher. Also get rid of Facebook and FB Messenger.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Instead of Lollypop try some LSD
Thanks. But it is that slow even before any of these apps are loaded (e.g. after I do a factory reset and flash a new rom). Is it possible that Lollipop did sthg to the hardware? If so, how could I find out? Just to give you an idea about how slow exactly it is: when I am typing 5 letters at normal speed, it takes until the fifth letter before the first letter actually displays on the screen. I should also note that when the screen goes off, I can no longer get it on again without a reboot...
I'm still trying to figure out what this might be. I first thought my problems were similar to those that others have described, but I now think they be different. Here are some of the issues I'm encountering:
when I boot up the phone (whether in kitkat or lollipop), the initial android (animation sequence is already incredibly slow
there are all sorts of strange things happening with my screen. When it goes to sleep in Android, I can not wake it up anymore. When it goes to sleep in recovery, and I push the power button, the screen goes (again after some time) from pitch dark to a slightly 'lit' dark, but it never displays anything, and I have to reboot again to get the info on the screen. Also, the screen is even slow in twrp - when I swipe to do a factory reset, for instance, there is also a noticeable lag.
I have tried with various ROMs (both stock and not); with ART and Dalvik, etc. but none of these changes seem to affect the slow screen issues
Does anybody have any ideas about what the problem might be? I should also add that we had the screen replaced a few months ago - could that have something to do with it?

Probably the replacement screen has been reconnected poorly. There's nothing you can do on software side, for me, it's more like a hardware problem.
Hi there,
I'm experiencing massive issues with the Nexus 5 of my wife. Everything is basically broken
It started 2 days ago, the phone start rebooting without reason and heating a lot. Applications sometimes hang for a long time, or the screen stays black with only the notification bar displayed.
Wifi is never able to connect, even though the welcome screen is able to display available wifi. On the welcome screen after a fresh flash, nothing happen when I enter the WIFI password and try to connect. Only the "ignore" button is available, as if I have done nothing.
LTE connectivity seems to work, but I have removed the SIM card for further testing, so it's hard to say.
Parameters screen sometimes works, sometimes won't. Battery consumption screen never works.
The phone is never able to shutdown properly, it hangs forever on the shutdown loading circle; I always have to hard-reboot.
I changed the battery (I had a spare one ordered few days before the problem occurs just to see if it improves the battery life), with no luck.
When I opened the phone to change the battery, it is clear the heat come from the CPU.
I tried (I wiped everything each time in between):
- factory reset
- flash a stock rom from Google website (MMB29K)
- flash latest Cyanogenmod rom (ZNH0EAO2NM)
I have the same issues with any of those 3 roms. I captured some logs while running MMB29K and ZNH0EAO2NM:
Stock (MMB29K) logs: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-CDc3nzF3e3M28tM2xjTmJKa28
Cyanogenmod (ZNH0EAO2NM) logs: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-CDc3nzF3e3TVUtTmExZDBLUms
The only state where the phone is stable is when TWRP is booted, which is not so useful...
I'm thinking of a hardware issue, but is there anything else I can try? What do you think?
Thanks a lot!
Nobody?
I said the same thing in another post. The fact that flashing different ROMs with the same issues kinda point to hardware problem. I'd guess something fried on the motherboard and it's causing weird behavior. Funny thing, the other post also reported wifi not connecting issues, so I'm thinking there is something that breaks in older Nexus 5 phones that cause wifi issues along with other random reboot problems.
Hey!
Been having some troubles for 8-10 months now. Thought it was software-related, but those same issues persisted throughout CyanogenOS, RemixResurrection OS, LineageOS. I did full wipes between changing the operating systems. Changing the SD card didn´t help, either. My problems are:
- Fingerprint reader got very unreliable, sometimes it works. Sometimes it gives a short vibration indication that something was recognized, but the screen doesn´t turn on
- When I boot up the phone, there are several apps that take up to 10 minutes to show on my homescreens after it is booted up
- Many apps keep crashing all the time. Re-install didn´t help, they still crash (Unforuntately blabla has stopped working...etc)
- When using Facbook, everytime after a couple of minutes of browsing thorugh the news feed when I buffer or watch videos, the apps freezes and my phone reboots
(- Battery runtimes are sometimes very normal (3.5 - 4 hours screen-on-time over 2-3 days), but often I get maybe 2 hours of screen-on-time over 1-2 days before I need to charge it again)
- Basically, my phone is very useless atm...I can do a couple of things, but it often crashes, freezes, os way too slow.
Might there be a RAM issue? I have no idea....do these symptomes seem familiar to some of you and you might be able to help? I might have a hard time making use of my warranty since I flashed/rooted it, right?
I´d really appreciate your help
I really wish you had received any replies to this, because I am having the exact same issues. Too bad our warranty expired the day we flashed the devices! I mean, the phone does work, but it is very annoying. I used to be really reliable in the beginning, Opening the camera takes a few seconds, the shutter is very slow and sometimes switching to video mode or back to photo takes 30 seconds or more. I've always been flashing the newest lineageOS, but there's no change. It's been like this for 16 months :-/

could be RAM. could also be some issue with the internal SD storage.
it's a far shot but try running a trim on your device's storage. check the play store for "Trimmer (fstrim)". see if it makes any difference.

no modded gcam requires different camera HAL level. which none of the R7 series phones support. it's stuck at legacy.
I've experienced the same random reboots over the past few months across several roms. While on PiXeN OS (which sadly was discontinued) and OOS everything worked as intended, the reboots happened on PalladiumOS, EvolutionX and DotOS. Since the characteristics are always the same and I seem to be the only one having these issues it's probably something device specific that gets triggered by some roms.
After using PiXeN again for the past 5 months I decided to reset my phone using the msm tool to rule out any driver specific issues. Afterwards I did a clean install of DotOS and TWRP without Magisk.
I already tried safe mode, which didn't help either so it's not app related.
The reboots seem to somehow be connected to motion. They do happen when the phone is in idle and isn't moved but way less frequently (didn't happen on DotOS yet but it did happen on occasion on the other ROMs) than when it's moved. Whenever I move it my phone reboots after a while (seconds up to an hour), it seemed to happen a lot when being put in a pocket but playing around with pocket detection and wake on pickup did not fix the issue. Whenever there's sound playing the moment the phone crashes it will play a loud sound for 10 seconds without changing the pitch, afterwards the device reboots.
Any thoughts on what the issue may be?
The phone is 2 years old, unlocked it a few months ago to play APK apps that required rooting.
Phone started lagging after that a bit, eventually it updated to MIUI 12, when the phone drastically started lagging.
I tried installing ArrowOS custom ROM, hoping that it would fix the issue, assuming that MIUI 12 is too heavy for the phone to handle - nope.
The problems started to occur more often and new issues started appearing.
Current major issues:
* Screen delay when trying to unlock with fingerprint / power button.
* Black screen / unresponsive screen on power button press.
* Notifications don't show up (black screen).
* When someone calls me -> phone vibrates/rings but the screen is black.
* Double tap to wake up -> black screen.
^All of the issues mentioned above that contain the black screen problem, sometimes but rarely the phone is responsive but it's like 2 times out of 20.
Things I have tried:
- Turn off all animations from Developer Options.
- Wipe Data / Dalvik Cache / Phone Cache / Factory Reset / Custom ROM.
- Installed stock ROM for Europe (since I live in EU) for my phone (latest MIUI 13) -> problem still persists.
- Wiped Cache / Dalvik after installing stock ROM (problem persists).
- Multiple factory resets (didn't fix the issue).
- Disable HW overlays -> this seemed to somehow give better performance but it disabled my Fingerprint function and I need this for banking security reasons, etc.
Overall the phone is still fast enough, no other issues, the most common issue is the black screen and the phone having this huge delay where sometimes it would turn on the screen for half a second and then go pure black again.
Most of the times I have to hold the power button for 10 seconds to force reboot it in order to access my phone.
Help is appreciated, thanks in advance people!

Well, if the same thing happens to you both on MIUI and custom ROM, the only thing I can think of is that you are installing something (most probably with root access) that gives you this issue. MIUI is obviously laggy itself, but Arrow/Octavi/Cipher are smooth and fast. Personally I use Octavi and face no such issue like yours.

I wish an app was the issue, the only app that I have installed is YouTube Vanced and it doesn't even require root access, the problem is that on a fresh installed stock ROM, the problem still persisted which brings me questions;
1) Am I installing a stock ROM Android 11+ which is too heavy for my phone causing lags?
2) Could it be a hardware issue considering that the problem exists on a freshly flashed ROM? But I need to exclude 1) first.

As I said, MIUI is heavy skin and it definitely lags more than AOSP custom ROM, but it shouldnt give you black screen issue. You could try to install Xiaomi.eu rom, which is a debloated, better version of MIUI than the stock one: https://sourceforge.net/projects/xi...MINote10_MICC9Pro_22.5.25_v13-11.zip/download
If multiple factory resets didnt help, then yes, it may be the hardware issue I think. But Im not that knowledgable to tell this definitely

I was already recommended by Scarlet on discord (if not mistaking the username) to install EU stock ROM which I did but the problem still occcurs, I guess I will try and give it on a mobile service check just to make sure it's not a hardware issue, I will still however wait for more replies in case someone else had the issue and managed to fix it software wise, thanks for the suggestions buddy!
