Hello xda community! Is it possible to control the media volume of the device with bluetooth headphone buttons? I know that when I change the volume while having a call, the buttons changes the volume in the device not themselves. But when listening to music or watching a video the buttons change the headset volume, not the phones media... Something like media volume sync on samsung. I'm using oneplus 7 pro (stock android 10) and Sony MDR-XB650BT. Anything to change in developer options? A magisk or xposed module? Anything else? I can't find anything on the web, please help... ??

Just wondering if there is some kind of software hack or mod that allows the volume buttons on headsets/earphones to work correctly. I know that with some players like Poweramp have the middle mic button working with single, double, and triple click. I know the volume buttons work on iOS devices so shouldn't there be a way to make it work with android?

There is an app ( may be many).
Something called headset button controller. Yeah it's
Here
Search on playstore. Or try tencent player to use volume rockers to switch between songs.

IT'S WHAT YOU MAKE OUT OF IT!
Can't really use anything besides Poweramp. For obvious reasons.
Anyway here's a pic. I'm talking about the volume buttons built into the headset. Not the middle button and not the volume rockers on the phone.

You Tried that app ? You can set up which button performs what action, blah blah.
And tactile player ( sorry I said something else before, it doesn't even exist) isn't a music player.
It's just an app used to skip tracks using volume rockers.

Poweramp has the functionality to skip tracks using the volume rockers on the phone already built in so no need for an app.

Hi
You will normally not get a pair of iPhone 3 button earphones work with an Android phone as the jacket technogies differ and so does its mic.
To make it work you need a.) appropriate earphones and b.) the software. A few makers has both
3-button earphones for Android

Dont mention it. I use this app daily going to work and going home, it really works. Ive tried many headset apps and this is the best by far (and its 100% free).
Edit: added a screenshot. When connecting the headset I made my musicplayer start up automatically. Really neat as then I dont need to pull our the phone starting the music while on the go. Helps alot.
Cheers!

DEGAUSS LABS HEADSET CONTROL APP NOW WITH ANDROID 6 MARSHMALLOW
Hey, they just released their updated Headset Control Center for Android 6 Marshmallow. Didnt find that support elsewhere.
Now I use Nexus 5x and Spotify as my target music app (set individually) and can now control play/pause/next/previous/vol+/vol-, functional for my everyday life going back and forth to work etc. Really a neat App that I think most Android users would like.

Hello,
I think this question has been talked about in another threads/forums.
but I can't find any thread that matches my problem.
To my problem:
When I listen to spotify(using bluetooth headset Sony SBH50) and receive a notification or use TTS, the bluetooth sound get maxed out.
I can't lower the sound until the notification//TTS sound is finished.
It started after last update of spotify
TS done:
Tested another headset (MW600) and I get the same problem, just it has it's own sound settings so I don't get deaf.
If I don't use BT headset I see that the sound get bumped up abit too but not maxed.
Inactivated tasker, same problem.
I have resettet the SBH50 headset and updated firmware.
Tested a mp3 file in xiialive and total commander(music player).
The music get a bit muted during the notification and then back to the same volume level. So sound is not maxed.
Tested Audible and it has a pause function on notification but no maxed out volume.
Solution / workaround
Solution: ? or to get Spotify fix the problem if it's a bug in the app.
Workaround: Was to change settings files to hard set the max BT volume to 50% of what is max today. If it can be done.
System:
Nexus 5
Android 4.4.2
Factory ROM
Rooted
Uses Tasker, don't have any sound alterations tasks.
Used xposed and GravityBox but exposed is deactivated.
TIA
Daniel

Only good side, is that this forces me to listens to some books I have put on hold for a year.
Note: I have dyslexia so if there is anything you don't understand just ask...
Same problem. Extremely annoying. Imagine the situation, casually using bluetooth earphones while shopping, running, commuting & whatnot. And suddenly the music volume maxes out because a notification eg. for a hangout msg or sms goes off. Any ideas how to cure? Re-route bt audio?
Here's something to try:
with the BT headset connected, go to Settings -> Sound -> Volumes and change the notification volume there (again, WITH headset connected)
This should then set the notification volume for the BT headset without changing the media volume.
I use a BT headset all the time with A2DP (LG Tone+) and have never had this problem because I set the individual volume levels as force of habit the first time I connected to N5...
Hope it helps

One of the gripes I have with android L is that if im playing music through google play, I can't change the volume of the ringer while the music is playing. It just adjusts the music volume. Is there an expandable volume panel object of some sort? thanks.
Also interested in this, subscribed.
There is an app called Noyze that seems to be what we are after but it needs to be updated because it can't be activated in lollipop...
Settings -> Sound & Notification
Yeah great. If you git a mo3 or video screaming way to loud I will go to settings and then....
Thats ridiciculous.
An expandable volume panel has just been added in the latest Cataclysm ROM update.

Well no because if you have media playing, the volume keys control the media. There's no problem there. OP wants to adjust ringtone volume whilst media is playing. Volume keys won't control ringtones until media is stopped.
Try Volume Button by Yogesh Dama. Not exactly what you what but it may be enough until we see this in custom ROMs.

Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
I'm on mobile using XDA app and I've done some searching on this but haven't seen a similar thread or come up with a solution. I prefer my Volume Rocker keys to control Ringer Volume by default and I guess Nougat has changed the default to Media Volume. Anyone know how to change the default back to Ringer Volume?
Thanks in advance!
Edit: for what it's worth, anyone wanting to do the OPPOSITE of what I was wanting can start with this app...Rocker Locker

The default when no audio or video is playing is ringer volume

I always knew this to be the case but convinced myself otherwise because I couldn't figure out the issue.
It looks like I have an app installed that makes the system persist as if there's media being played even when the app is in the background (and before you ask...No, the app isn't a video or music streaming app! :silly: ).
Hi !
Is it possible to link the Bluetooth volume on the HTC U11 ? I'm not sure that's the proper name of this feature but I mean to have the name volume level on the Bluetooth speaker (in my case headphone) and the phone. If I change the volume with the headphone's buttons, it change on the phone.
Thanks for your help
I understand what you mean but the phone can only control its own volume. It would be down to the speaker developer to integrate it, most likely it would be via a specific app.
You can always leave the speaker at it's highest or at the highest you would want it to be and just adjust the volume of the Bluetooth at your end (on the phone).

I know it is possible : Samsung propose it with Samsung experience.
I can do it with my iPad too, with the same headphones.
It is called "Media Volume sync"
https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS8/comments/66l8id/you_can_finally_control_the_media_volume_from_a/
I read that it was a feature in Android stock since 6.0 so I'm surprised not to find it with Oreo on the HTC which is almost stock:

Thanks again
Um don't we have that already? Separate volume for speaker and Media audio.

Yeah but what I would like is to not have a volume level on my speaker and one on my phone. If I change the volume with my headphone's button, it changes what you show here (the volume with the Bluetooth icon). A unified for phone and speaker, like iOS does.
thanks
