You probably need to edit .cpr files in windows folder:
LS_LockScene_*.crp
theres not much to play with yet. You can change the graphics or position of elements, but nothing else. Only if somebody could make an app to show big battery meter or something.
What i understood, CPR is of XML format. I agree with ibrythill for change the order or position. But i was trying to compare it with S2U2 and trying to think about developing more options into it.
But thanks for the feedback, i will surely try to modify something in Lock Screen, which be usefull to all.
TO end with, just wanna know, is modifying and replacing .CPR file similar to what we do in case of Start Menu or Titanium file?
Ash
i would love to be able to control music from the lock screen or have a big battery meter like s2u2..
that would be pretty sweet
It would be great if you could figure out how to adjust backlight brightness in the lock screen. In bright areas I can't hardly tell where the slider lock is, or let alone if my screen is even on.
Good Luck!
Have taken the ideas into consideration.
Do keep posting with bright ideas

I wanna see the weather on the lock screen like in s2u2

It would also be nice to have some sort of "power save mode" like s2u2, battery life is so much better with s2u2 then with WM lock.
I am using S2U2 on BSB 6.5 Rom.
Although not 100% compatible I found it better because the is the slide to answer feature you can set to always. On the Windows lock the slide to answer only shows up when the phone is locked and you get the ugly windows pop-up when not locked. So this is a useful feature you may consider.
Also when the screen is locked with the windows lock the caller ID wasn't working and it is with the latest s2U2 fix.

I don't seem to have this tick box... and I tried using advanced config, but with no results.
Would be also nice to see the next 2-3 appointments on the Lockscreen
Display Day of Week in Lock Screen
I am trying to figureout how to display day of the week like Monday.. Sunday in the lock.. Everytime I glance at the lock screen I am annoyed for not seeing what day is it.
... Active Display (EDIT title... AMBIENT... sorry my bad wrong naming)
My own opinion. Please do not be harsh.
The point is I am trying to love Moto Display, but I just can't. It has some design flaws I really do not understand.
1 - I'm driving in my car, and have my phone on the passenger's seat. MD is triggered every now and then with no reason even on a perfectly flat road. So I end up with turning the phone face down, no need for MD.
2 - I pick up my phone, I received a text/whatsapp, as I try to figure out if it's worth reading or not, the screen turns off. How the ... do I trigger MD again? I try waving the phone couple of times... I wait a few seconds... Nothing happens. So I use power button to turn it on.
3 - As I turn it on, there is a bad inconsistency. On MD if I want to go to the app I swipe up, to activate the phone I swipe down. On Android lockscreen, if I swipe down I just expand the notification if there is one, if I swipe up I activate the phone. And I find myself losing time and making mistakes because I'm in a hurry/confused/in a bad mood/singing/other options.
So Motorola, why oh why don't you just correct MD so that:
1 - It replaces stock Android lockscreen on pressing the power button as well?
2 - or else, reverse swipe up/down to get consistency with Android lockscreen.
3 - or else, bypass completely Android lockscreen and go directly to pin/password/pattern/home?
If I use AD, on the contrary, I have complete consistency. I just have to press the power button once if I want to see what I got and I missed one on the 5 times the screen goes on by itself (1, +5, +10, +15, +30 seconds).
Do you really prefer MD just for pressing the power button once less?
What do I miss?
Edit - did not mean to quote whole post.
Edit #2 - after re reading I'm not sure if you're asking anything at all or just saying how ambient is better which that's for sure, it kinda sucks moto made features that google incorporated themselves one way or another. (Moto assist, migrate etc.)
Try setting your lockscreen too off in security settings and report what happens! ( haven't been on stock for a while but I went through rigorous testing like yourself beforehand and noticed that turning it off helped me with MD.)

Turning lockscreen off helps, but since my wife got her phone stolen 2 times, I want to keep security on and at least make the phone useless for thieves, just in case.
Anyway I just realized that when I'll get the MM update there will be no option since Ambient Display will be removed. Maybe sooner or later I'll give a try to cm12.1 or cm13.
I preferred Ambient Display, mostly because every little bump causes the screen to light up (annoying, especially when driving at night). Now that I have Marshmallow, that option is gone. I've read (http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-play/help/ambient-display-marshmallow-t3267532) that Ambient Display can be restored on rooted Moto X phones, but I've yet to try it on my Moto G.
Hey guys.
Stumbled upon this on YouTube. Bought the app and I can confirm that it works.
This is the app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.used.aoe
Here's the video I found on YouTube:
I managed to get it setup just the way I like. The guy in the video is a bit hard to understand but the video is good enough to get you started.
If your looking for a deeper dive into the optimal configuration process try this thread

thanks a lot =)
But is it posible to set different colors for different apps?
for example
green = whatsapp
blue = facebook ....
UPDATE: there is an option .... "when a notification comes" there you got the option "select enabled aps ots color and time" the blue button =)

Just tried it, buggy as hell and didn't play nice with my lock screen. Also every 30 seconds the screen would flicker.
I'll keep an eye on it and maybe try again after more refinement.

I had nothing but issues out of the app. Notifications wouldn't notify, the lock screen turned on and off randomly, there were no edge lighting effects no matter what I adjusted. I even tried to use the camera cutout, it again did not work.
This is a VERY bloated app, containing a LOT of features and options that frankly, are of no use to me or of no interest to me. I want an app that it's ONLY purpose is to alert me when I get messages, calls, and email. one that does not have so much bloat so that the developer can focus on the feature that is most sought after at the moment.
Just my two cents.
tl;dr App is junk, has too much junk, we need a debloated app.
It's a start...

Come on! This app might not be right for you, but the developer should at least be given some credit/thanks for the effort taken to solve a problem, for which several users are seeking a not really forthcoming solution from Samsung. You "want an app...", but the developer created something and shared it. Granted, the app has far too many options and choices, but I was able to get it working to my satisfaction. Let's be thankful first .

Okay, okay, okay. I may have been a little harsh. I didn't mean to demean to developer. I am very thankful they have taken the time to create this app out of the kindness of their heart, as well as make the app free. I appreciate the work they have done and I would even donate if I could get the app to work; however it's not very user friendly tough, and in my opinion, could use a lot of work on many different aspects.
My main issue with the app is that it does not work as intended. I have tried using the youtube video settings, playing with options, etc.
I download and re-install this app about 5 times a day in hopes that MAYBE one time I can get it to function as intended. But I do not get any kind of Edge lighting or Notch cutout alert when I get messages, and that is the sole purpose of my attempts with this app, if I could find something similar or something that better served this purpose I would use it instead.
Sometimes, while using the apps lock screen, it will display the little icon and the message but then it goes away, and doesn't re-alert like it is suppose to, and the light affects do not appear. I have tried leaving it as the stock color and using a custom color. I have tried using the app lock screen, I have tried using the settings within the app to let it manipulate the wallpaper and lock screen, tried it with an image and also just a black background. I never even delved into setting different colors for apps, I can't get the dang notifications to work!
end rant
Do you have edge light on? Worked for me first try. I am not saying its 100% but for free and for now to wait to see if Samsung might give us we want I will leave it on my phone.
hello,
with this app is there a setup to leave the screen off when a notification comes in and only the cam ring turns on then?

it is working a bit strange for me as well. I've managed to get it to ALMOST work how I want, but I can't figure out why it will do random things
-- for a while it was turning on my screen when the edge lighting came on, which was pointless. I changed a lot of settings in troubleshooting, but I'm not sure what I did to fix it
-- also, it does notify every 30 seconds even though I have no new notifications. that one I haven't figured out yet
It does work as advertised though, despite the bugs I can't fix. It will either light up my edge lighting or the notch around the camera (which I prefer). so props to the dev for figuring that part out and here's to hoping the rest of the bugs get worked on the S10 (and my S10+). it seems to be working for other devices (I originally found it here for the oneplus)

you need to disable edge lighting in setting to use this app or else it will conflict since this app does wake up the screen while edge lighting is not.
if u enable both that mean this app waking up the screen, then edge lighting will also showing (coz edge lighting while screen is on is applied). you will have both notification then

thanks! Not sure if it was changing that setting that helped, or their recent update I got yesterday, but the weird behavior has seemed to subside for a bit... I'll give it a few more days of testing to see if I can find anything else weird, but so far so good. I might also try swapping out the default color with individual colors for each app soon. Glad the dev seems to be open and receptive to feedback and willing to keep his app updated to fix various bugs found
The Reminder Notification Option
Has anyone successfully gotten the reminder option to work? When used, this is supposed to repeat the notification lighting for a brief period, if a notification had been unanswered for a period of time (30 or 60 seconds - I think). However, I could not get that to work - or at least replay the lighting. incidentally, I notice that Sakitech did not "fully" demo this feature in his Youtube tutorial. He mentioned it (at about 6:08), but did not show it working, I suspect (only speculating...) that he edited it out of the video because it does not work properly.
If anyone has the right settings for **** please share.

Thanks! The only setting I have differently is "double top to close" instead of "swipe up to close". Otherwise, I have been using these exact settings . As usual, at the moment that the screen should display the reminder, all that happens is the phone vibrates, but the light is not illuminated or display any visible interaction with the AOE lighting app.

Yeah, I see what you mean. My app as well will not work properly. I don't know what is going on? I have reached out to the developer and still not able to resolve the issues. The app starts out good but then goes rogue after awhile. I thought it was good lock messing it up but I was wrong. I give up for now.

Try turning off the "Manually only when I want it, I open the app". Also change the "When a notification comes" "And screen is off" to "Always off or on". Be sure you have turned off the Edge lighting in your phone settings.
What I was finding is when a notification would come in, it would light up the screen for a second and this would cause the app not to show the notification because I set it to "And screen is off" condition causing several notifications, if not all, to make the app not work. Once I changed to it to either/or, it has been working great for me. Hope this helps
HI, i was a nexus user in the past and i remember a lot of features from the community. In those days i return to use a google phone, even though google has changed many of its policies about warranty. I notice a lot of problems or missed features. I was looking there but i didn't find nothing so i just ask to be sure i'm in the right place or just i missed something. For example, will be great to add the possibility to double knock on the screen to lock the screen and not only press on the right button. Or, for example, add the possibility to increase things you can do when press the botton screen. Or it will be great to improve gestures, likes oneplus so i can write some letters on blocked screen and for example activate light or something like that.
Is there alredy something for those thing or is still all blocked/work in progress?

For locking the device without using power button, I use Lock App from F-Droid, because I'm not a fan of using buttons.
3 apps/modules come to mind that can expand pixel's capabilities:
1) TapTap - tap back of phone to do something, eg pull down notification or take screenshots
2) AOSP Mods: like a Gravitybox lite. I use it to center the clock in the status bar and display date and day of week. I can also Double tap screen to sleep, but it doesn't work too well
3) ButtonMapper: customize hard buttons for other purposes. For example, i hold my volume down button to take screenshots.
For all, or most, of the best stuff (like AOSP modz) you'll need root access and lsposed to run 'em...a lot like the nexus days, lotsa toys!
I am so used to my OnePlus 9's AOD that I'm kind of surprised how terribly it seems to be implemented here and I'm hoping it's just being buggy...
First off, the AOD doesn't seem to work at all if I don't choose to have it displayed all the time (which is the first hint that this may be a bug as even the preview for tap or lift seems to suggest that the AOD should be popping up, not the lock screen as is happening right now).
Second, if I do have it displayed all the time, incoming notifications bring up the lock screen. My OnePlus shows a preview of that one specific notification while still on the AOD screen and it seems silly that Google isn't utilizing something similar. It is extremely handy to have a text come in, say with a 2FA code, and have the entire screen black besides a large preview that shows you that code. The way that it is working now, it wakes the lock screen, which is fine, except the message gets truncated so it often requires me to interact with the device even further to be able to see the full message.
I also tried turning off wake the screen for notifications to see if that triggers the AOD and... it just adds an icon to the AOD...
This is a huge downgrade in user experience if this is the normal expected behavior. I could have sworn my 3 XL handled it better than this but I haven't used it for awhile and I'm not at home where I could check it. Maybe I'll have to look into third party options.
Im not quite sure and your whole post. I as well had the Oneplus 9 pro. My Pixel 7 pro AOD works just fine. I double tap screen and goes directly to the AOD, which displays the Date(top left corner), the time that is big, the fingerprint icon and battery percentage. a tap of the screen brings up the lock screen. Face unlock and pin works directly to the home screen. Now I do have to say im using Nova Launcher as i can't stand that the dat and google search bar can't be removed.

Thanks. Sounds like I have a bug after all right now.
When you get a text or something, does it show an AOD notification with a preview like the OnePlus did or does it just show the lock screen?
I turned off screen on with new notification, I will have to check
Without screen on with new notification, I still get the notification and AOD stays on. Lock screen does not come on. So in other words, AOD works as it should.

The AOD on my Pixel 4a works just like you describe the OnePlus AOD, it stays on the AOD but displays the message at the center for a few seconds, sounds like a bug (unless this changed on the 7 and 7 pro for some reason).

Don't know if I understand you correctly. Do you have enabled AOD all the time (always show time and info)? If not, you double tap to show AOD and it's working fine? Do you have any other settings enabled (tap to check phone, etc)?
I have disabled AOD (always show time and info) and when I tap, it goes straight to lockscreen. Not sure but that change may have been introduced in one of the latest updates.
@EtherealRemnant same question to you
In my case as it works right now:
When I enable AOD (always show time and info), it is showing all the time. When I disable that, it's not. When I tap on the screen (when AOD is disabled), it goes straight into lockscreen. When I receive a notification, AOD shows for a short moment.
What I would like to achieve (dunno if that's possible) would be to have tap to show AOD instead of lockscreen (with AOD not showing all the time).
I understand what you would like to do( tap the screen to have AOD appear first. I cannot find anything like( temp AOD) in settings. The show time and info toggle is basically the master AOD switch. Either AOD all the time or disabled completely, nothing in between.
Same for me, after reading topics on reddit, I was thinking I wasn't a bug and I might misunderstood what op was saying.
@trawel to add to your statement, if you move slightly your phone, like lifting one side, the AOD should come, most of the time (sometimes screen stays black)
But yeah I also would like to be able to "tap to show AOD" so it won't unnecessarily unlock when it sees my face.
AOD = Always On Display...it's in the name...ALWAYS ON. I understand what you're looking for but then it would NOT be called AOD, but SOD = sometimes on display.

We get the semantics but the point is that the AOD used to function differently. You used to be able to tap to get the AOD to come on and lifting the device used to always go to AOD FIRST. When I made this thread, I was not seeing the AOD at all most of the time. A factory reset has set it to such that if the phone gets barely moved, the AOD comes up, but tapping or picking it up quickly will almost always go to the lock screen (but then sometimes it will go to the AOD too when picking it up quickly) so it's clearly bugged somehow as the behavior is inconsistent, whichever way that Google intended for it to actually be.
Going beyond that, the AOD is pretty useless anyway. Any incoming notifications light up the lock screen. Why can't they just make it like my OnePlus where the notification shows up on a black screen with a full preview when AOD is enabled? This is so much more useful, not to mention battery friendly.
