Used Verizon - GSM Unlock Status? - Google Pixel 3 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I am in middle of buying used pixel 3 Verizon phone.
As far as I read the xda forum, only boot loader for Verizon model is locked but GSM should work fine, is this assumption correct?
I read few articles that pixel 3 were locked to Verizon to prevent thefts, does that mean I need to get this unlocked for using on AT&T network?
Thanks in advance!

[Q] Are Nexus S carrier locked or not in Canada?

I currently own a Samsung Galaxy S1 from Bell and I consider buying a refurbished Nexus S from Kooko as per the offering in the link below.
http://mobilesyrup.com/2012/01/19/refurbished-nexus-s-hitting-koodo-mobile-tomorrow-for-200/
Now, I searched the forum but I'm still not convinced all Nexus S phones are carrier unlocked and since I want to use it with my Bell SIM card, it has to be... or else I need to know how to unlock it.
So, can anyone confirm that canadian Nexus S are carrier unlock ?
Thanks in advanced
All GSM Nexus S phones are unlocked. It is likely that you just need to change the APN settings from Koodo to Bell.
That's what I wanted to hear!

[Q] Unlocked CDMA SGS3?

I am wondering if there is such thing as an unlocked CDMA version of the S3? My thought process is...buy a SGS3 from verizon for $250 (locked bootloader) and promply sell it on ebay for ~$600??... Then take profits to help buy samsung unlocked cdma version. Is it possible or practical? Anyone?

In a word, no. It's not possible.
CDMA devices are not locked or unlocked in the way that GSM devices are. You can't just switch carriers, nor can you buy a device that will work on any CDMA carrier. The only way to get a Galaxy S3 working on Verizon is to buy the Verizon version with the locked bootloader.
Getting CDMA carriers to add meid numbers is almost impossible. Some have reported that MetroPCS and Pageplus have added meids. Most people have to resort to changing the meid.
Even a meid change may not be good enough. Sprint caught up with me in January. My Meid repaired phone first stopped receiving calls and then data stopped. Fire up the original phone and all was working fine. I reprovisioned the phone copied the passwords and programming info onto the hacked phone and still no go. Tried a few other phones and same result. The donor phone never stopped working.

How can an "unlocked phone" not be "unlocked"?

I asked this question a few days ago & no one answered, so I will try a different way.
Verizon tells me that my phone that is "unlocked & rooted" with CyanogenMod 10.2.1 is not truly unlocked.
So how do you completely "unlock" a phone so that it will work on Verizon's CDMA network?
Is there a different way to unlock for CDMA?
Thanks.

If your running cyanogen mod your bootloader is unlocked. There's two different kinds of unlocked, one is sim unlocked which means it can run on almost any carrier and bootloader unlocked meaning you can flash custom roms
As far as CDMA not that I'm aware of

Thanks. I couldn't understand how a phone can be unlocked & rooted & still not be unlocked. The salesman at Verizon told me on the phone that whatever company originally sold the phone would have to unlock it. I forgot that this was a T-Mobile phone. I use T-mobile sim via Straight Talk. If this sim is removed then would the phone be able to work on Verizon network? Verzion is telling me this is a GSM phone & not CDMA & won't work unless unlocked by carrier. Which makes no sense if it isn't a cdma to begin with. I assume that all Verizon version of phones are made for them as CDMA only?
If this is so, then Verizon should not be advertising "bring your own device" as it won't work. It should be "bring your own Verizon phone".

Verizons idea of bring your own device really isn't what it should be. It should work on the vzw network but all phones should be sim unlocked by the carrier as a law was passed to do so, however verizon won't a lot of times sim unlock it like it should be until the contract is fulfilled.
And yes there bring your own device is irrelevant because most gsm phones won't work like they should on this crappy network because they are the only CDMA only network left.

Thanks ShapesBlue. I assumed it was not really bring any device to play as they state. My phone came from T-Mobile from the original buyer, so I don't know if T-Mobile would till unlock it or not since it isn't stock any longer. I have a friends that use Verizon & they get good service in our area. Mine is limited on T-Mobile, lot of dead spots especially where I work & slow data. I had a non digital CDMA phone that I used through Straight Talk & it used Verizon network & I got good phone service in places way off the beaten trail, so that is why I wanted to try Verizon again.
Where can I find a copy of the "unlock law". I searched for it but didn't find anything. I would like to print it out & take with me for proof.
Thanks.

Is Sprint note 5 international Sim unlocked?

Hello.
Maybe a noob question, but still.
I have sprint note 5 that I use in Europe with CDMA and European GSM carriers. However, I got this phone in a used condition and wonder if it has been European Sim unlocked out of the box.
So, basically, my questions are:
1) are note 5 sprint devices come internationally unlocked?
2) if not, will marshmallow update re-lock it?
Ps. I don't intend to use it with the USA GSM carriers.
you will need to call in and get it unlocked for international use or use the sprint online account and unlock it
I am not a sprint user, so I won't be able to call and unlock. However, now my phone is unlocked.

How did you unlocked it? I'm with the same problem

From Verizon to T-Mobile

I would like to take my old Verizon Pixel 2 and use it on T-Mobile. Do I need to unlock the Verizon Pixel 2 before I can use it on TMO? Or, is it as simple as changing the SIM card?
I have verified that the Verizon Pixel 2 is locked by seeing if I can turn on OEM unlocking in the developer tools (I cannot).
Sorry if this has covered but I did not find it in the threads. Any advice appreciated.

The pixel 2 from Verizon comes factory unlocked. Not bootloader unlocked, but sim unlocked. Yes you can put a TMobile sim in it and it will work
