Is there any way to skip song/track via volume button when screen is off?
Is it there in the setting? Cause i can't find it.
Thanks in advance!
Unfortunately, there's none. But, there is a screen-off gesture for that. Draw "<" (Less than sign for back) and ">" for forward. It is under Convenience Aid -> Screen-off Gestures.
You're welcome

I am looking for an easy way to set my XDA to silent using one hand, like when heading into a meeting.
I have searched through these forums and found My|Profile & Ultra Profiler but really was looking for something even easier (freeware?).
Anyone want to do a little programming?
Here is how it would work.
1. Today screen plug-in
2. One icon or button labeled as "Silent"
3. Using a 'Today Options' button you could select a check box to Vibrate when Silent.
4. When "Silent" is pressed it would set the Volume Settings to 'Off'
That's it. Nothing else, no changable tones, no schedules. Just quickly silence the device. You can then use the Volume Slider to restore your previous settings.
On a related matter I don't understand why I can use the Volume Slider to recover from a "Volume Off" setting. It restores my previous Phone & PDA settings but I can't go to "Volume Off" using the slider. Weird.
If you can cope with two screen taps, the easiest way is simply to tap the speaker symbol at the top of the screen then tap "Off" (then tap the speaker symbol again if you want to close the pop-up). After the meeting there are two quick ways to restore the volume settings to their previous levels:
1) tap the speaker symbol and then "On" (then tap the speaker symbol again to close the pop-up)
2) slide the volume button on the side of the XDAII up twice

just press the colum button about 2 times it will go from max sound to off then to vibrate then to low then keep pressing it to make it go up and up till it reaches max then the cycle starts again very simple
Thanks for the ideas.
RafilK, maybe I have fat figures but trying to hit the Speaker Icon, with a finger, nestled between the time and the signal icon is a hit and miss affair.
gazzaman2k, please excuse my ignorance but what's a "Colum Button"? Is it one of the hardware buttons?
sorry typos meant to say volume
Fair enough. What I believe gazzaman2k was referring to was the hardware sliding button on the side of the XDAII that is used to increase and decrease volume. He is right, two downward movements of the volume button do silence the XDAII - I forgot about that! Hope this helps. Regards -- Rafil.
no i was on about the ahrdware button on the xda 1 actually
i am very very sorry for my poor English```
Is there any way that using voice button intead of power button?
the power button is widely used.
when unlock the device , lock the device[turn off screen lock key] and watching time,i offen push the power button ,many times a day.
so i am afraid of the power buttom will be loose or bad,it looks so sicker than any other button.
and i have a opinion that want to give the voice button the locking and unlocking function.
the voice button[on the left side upon the p3650]
is there any software or by changing the regredit ,can do that ?
You could download PHM Suspend PowerToy and either put it in your Start Menu apps or map one of the buttons to that program using using the button mapper in control panel.
There are many applications that allow this, and there are ways to do it manually also. VITO ButtonMapper is one. Search the forum and you'll find more options.
Alternatively, you could set your phone to turn the screen off after less time. Or you could set a long press of the hang-up key to lock the screen. Both of these options are available in control panel.

I'm missing the hard home button I had on my S3 when driving as it was easier to press the home button to wake the phone. Is there a way to wake the phone by voice or with a wave of the hand without killing the battery? I would assume the mic probably takes less battery than the camera constantly running to detect the wave of the hand.
--edit--
wave control pro
Anything that does either of those would just kill the battery.
The best and most battery friendly way, is the power button. Some roms you can set it up to use the volume buttons too.
There is double tap screen to wake option too, with certain kernels, but again, battery eater. It can be set to timeout, so it doesn't use as much battery, but then you're hitting the power button again.
I've got tasker setup to kill the app when I'm not in the car so battery hit won't be that bad.
Could look at double tap to wake / slide to wake kernels?

Hello All. I just enabled the function to unlock the phone by hard pressing the home button under Settings- Display- Navigation Bar. I find that this only works if your screen timed out and not if you shut the display off with power button on side. Is this working as it should or do you see this as a bug? Personally I think it should unlock with a home button hard press no matter what. Thanks.
Mine goes to unlock every time. Iris/Face Recog or pattern....
I am using no security, just swipe to unlock.
I do think that that is a bug, I'm using the hard press to unlock feature without security too, and the hard press works even after locking the screen manually.
Screen timeout and screen lock have to different settings.
So if you screen times out at 30sec
But the lock kicks in at 1min.
Then your be able to simple press the home button and go right back into the home menu after the 30sec but before the 1min mark.
If you press the power button it normally auto locks.
Meaning you cant press the home button to launch into the home screen.
Now this is all if you have no Security on.
I had the exact same issue as you did after I installed Samsung Oreo Beta Program. Then I found out that for some reason that the option got turned off. So you might want to double check and see if it is still enabled. To do this, do the following two things below:
1. Enable Unlock with Home Button
• Settings
• Display
• Navigation Bar
• Buttons
• Unlock with Home Button
*Then make sure Unlock with Home Button is enabled*
2. Then I would double check your phones Lock Screen & Security by doing the following:
• Settings
• Lock screen and security
• Screen Lock type
*Make sure Swipe is enabled*
Worst 8+ option...
1. Home button on AOD is disabled.
2. Unlock with home button (hard press to unlock) is disabled.
Still, hard press on home button area on lock screen (AOD), unlock the phone?!
Does anyone have a clue how to disable this crappy option?
Hello gentlemen.
I have been tinkering with my setup (nav keys especially) ever since getting my s8+.
My question here - after applying "gemu.hw.mainkeys=1" to my build.prop to eliminate the navbar (replaced by button gestures) the pressure sensitive home button does not work anymore during normal operation.
It does however still work from the sleeping state, to wake the device, so I am thinking it is still receiving input
Is it possible that after removing the navbar, the associated action, triggering the home button is removed ? There is no haptic feedback whilst pressing the area after unlock, only while in locked/sleep mode.
Is there any way to assign a function to the action of pressing the area through editing generic.kl ? Or am I missing something here.
Thank you in advance.
