If I'm currently on 9.0.3 with blu_spark TWRP should I upgrade to 9.0.9 before upgrading to 10.3.0? Also can you provide the link for the blu_spark twrp file you used? I can't seem to find it. Thanks.

No time to search for internet link, so here it's a link from my file: https://app.box.com/s/wvt55brj6plc7y0jfoevhwt36gjai8xx
Also, upgrading to 9.0.9 it's highly recommended. I tried from 9.0.8 and had several flashing issues. After upgrading to 9.0.9 and updating to the TWRP that I have mentioned, everything was fine.

Far from me the idea of saying that the file you linked should not be trusted, but linking @eng.stk GitHub is better than a "random" link, so here you go: https://github.com/engstk/android_device_oneplus_enchilada/releases
Use the github link above to get you to @eng.stk 's github page. the latest releases will always be there or on the xda thread about the same.
You dont necessarily have to update individual releases from 9.0.3 as long as you are using the full update package (~1.6/1.7 gb). If you are using the incremental updates then you will need to process the updates one by one. I assume that since you are speaking about TWRP you will be using the full package.
You can also use oxygen updater to get the most recent full update package.

Thanks. To upgrade twrp I just flash the latest img file from my current twrp correct? Also, is it better to update twrp first and then update to 9.0.9, or can I update to 9.0.9 first then just flash the latest twrp zip, reboot to recovery, and flash magisk? Thanks.

Flash the latest .zip from the linked I gave, flash it through your existing TWRP installation, reboot to recovery, flash ROM then .zip again, reboot to recovery to confirm it still there, you're done
I gather that twrp 3.3.1-2-enchilada doesn't work on 10.3? I tried booting the img and it just froze on the fastboot screen.
I see a link to a blu_spark twrp zip posted above. How do you flash that if your phone doesn't have twrp on it already? Previously I was updating by:
1. Flash factory image.
2. Fastboot the twrp installer img.
3. Sideload the twrp zip.
4. Sideload magisk zip.
However, I'm not seeing any blu_spark twrp imgs suitable for fastboot anywhere. Maybe I'm missing whatever the current definitive guide is for these things...
Edit: disregard - it looks like there are newer twrps floating around (it seems like the "definitive" source for this changes every six months and google is useless). This guide sorted it out: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/how-to-flash-twrp-magisk-android-10-t3988213

Have u not read anything in these forums, tutorials or anything?
There are like 50 threads on how to upgrade and about the new partitions for op6, it is even clear when u installed twrp too

Hi, just to clarify when you install an OTA on the oneplus 6 it uses the new partitioning system which is different so to remedy the situation just try reflashing TWRP enchilada installer using fastboot.

Previously, i've installed Beta(unofficial) version of TWRP, now i want to re-install TWRP with Official version , do i need to remove or do something firstly?
To fix it just download the official TWRP for oneplus 6 from the official team win recovery project page and then you put that on your phone, and flash using your currently installed TWRP then after that make sure you also install the root package as installing the new version of TWRP will modify the new boot image, Also a good time to mention that it will install in both slots (Seamless update slots) Treble slots if you will just to be aware.

Just follow one of the many upgrade guides. Skip the part about upgrading to 5.1.6 but for the rest follow the steps exactly. No need to explain all this in yet another thread imo. You'll need a pc though.
that's would be great if twrp can be flashed and stays there without wiping as well as root.
Pleasssseeeeee read before creating a new thread

You can't boot into twrp because it's not there anymore. The OTA created a completely stock version of the OS that you're now booted on. You need to reinstall twrp and magisk according to the posted guides. This is going to be the case with all OTAs. The stock updater looks for root, and when it's there, it installs a complete OS, not an incremental update.
I'm on unrooted, unlocked bootloader OnePlus 6 With open beta 3 on stock recovery.
Just want to shift to stable pie. How to do that? Because when i tried using local upgrade option in system updates i got it can't be downgraded. Refer screenshot for better understanding
I only know how to do this with twrp.
So: fastboot boot twrp.img (guide in forum) (use latest blu_spark)
Flash latest blu_spark twrp.zip
Reboot to twrp
Flash rom.zip
Flash blu_spark twrp again
Not booting do it one more time.
Dont want twrp at all? Don't flash it after the rom.. I would keep it atleast until you know it all works, then dirty flash rom.zip to get rid of it.. If that's your cup of tea

I want to do the same, go from Pie beta 4 to Original Pie version, but have no root, twrp ot whatever. I enabled Developer Option, enabled OEM Unlock(bootloader) , downloaded the official OxygenOS from OnePlus. I go to System Updates, click Local Upgrade and select the ZIP, but then it says it can't since this version is older than the one installed and downgrade is not possible. Now what?
Second question: what s better, has more latest updates and news stuff; beta or the stable?
Gee, really nobody has a clue?
There is a special downgrade image to move from the Pie betas back to Oreo.
Search XDA or the the OnePlus forums for the downgrade image (it should be in one of the announcement threads for the betas).
After the downgrade to Oreo you can use an OTA or full download to upgrade to official Pie.

I just currently got the latest ota and let it install and I installed magisk from the manager by choosing to install to inactive partition after ota. That worked flawlessly and was able to keep root. But I lost TWRP of course. I was using the official TWRP. I've been noticing everyone going to TWRP bluespark recovery. But which one do I download??? From what I understand there is a version for oos android 8 Oreo and a version for oos android 9 pie. I'm on official oos pie. So which one do I need?

Just to add a note to you for next ota.
After ota is installed go to magisk manager
Press download
Search for twrp a/b
Install (don't reboot)
Now go to main screen and press install
Choose to inactive slot (after ota)
This way you keep both twrp and root
Happy flashing

Have no idea haven't even tried. Didn't know where to get started since I haven't seen anyone say anything about rooting with the January patch.
Rooting is the same as it always has been. Boot to TWRP and install the Magisk zip from TWRP.
The update is good, I see no new features but I noticed big improvements in performances and RAM management

Installing OTA via TWRP (I assume you are referring to than and not the Magisk flash) has never worked on the Pixel 3 or 3XL. Sideload the OTA or flash-all with the -w removed.

It does. Effectively, it does the same thing as the factory image without the -w. It just loads les files. I have been doing the factory image way for years on the OG Pixel XL and now the 3XL. I have done a sideload once just to see the process as well as an OG TWRP sideload once (when it was working) for the same reason. The factory method is the easiest and most reliable IMO. You just need to remember to remove the -w, LOL.

Could be a few things. Make sure you have the current fastboot/adb files, flash boot.img to both slots, make sure you have the most recent TWRP and stable Magisk files, verify all of your downloads and start over.
After recently bricking my Oneplus 6 by trying to flash the latest TWRP on the latest Android 10 OTA from Oxygen Updater, I found a post from official TWRP explaining how root with a10 will take a while to implement due to changes that Google has made to their partitions.
So I guess for anyone trying this out on their own, be warned. You will probably end up bricking your device like I did and will probably end up having a bad time.
Please correct me if i'm wrong though, peace!
Edit: can confirm fastboot flash boot twrp-3.3.1-11-enchilada-Q-mauronofrio.img from the other popular post is working!
If you already have a working TWRP on OOS 9 you should be fine as long as you flash a working TWRP afterwards. Blu_spark TWRP 9.101 is compatible (please not 9.101 no earlier version will work).
Also don't use Magisk 20 only 20.1.
There is already a pre-patched version out there. You can fastboot flash it (as fastboot boot doesn't work). An easier way (without a pre-patched version) is currently being worked one as you pointed out already

I can confirm that this is working for me. I successfully upgraded from Android 9, Oxygen OS 9.0.9 to Android 10, Oxygen OS 10. Steps that I followed :
1) Flashed new twrp from link in the above post by akri1337 using my previously installed twrp : bluspark 9.85.
2) Flashed Oxygen OS 10 full update and added to queue latest bluspark twrp which I flashed in step one as it would be overwritten by flashing the full OTA update.
3) Rebooted into recovery again to switch to active slot.
4) Flashed Magisk 20.2 to regain root.
This process successfully upgraded my Oneplus 6 without any data loss.
Please note that I disabled all magisk modules just to be safe before starting the upgrade process but didn't uninstall magisk. I was on Magisk 20.2 earlier.
Hope this helps everyone.

Why is it that I get an error when trying to flash the full OTA update using TWRP? Something about error 7 and not have a digest file. Is there a full OTA update file that everyone is using? I tried the signed full zip from here on XDA and the one from Oxygen Updater. I get the same error with both.

Yes, you will need to flash twrp with adb and going through the hole process of installing twrp and magisk, but for me its not worked well, after first boot to Android Q with magisk 20.1 and granting some apps root access when I rebooted the phone its not booting to system and going to bootloader, I think its related to some problem with magisk 20.1.
